2019 is officially STRIKER‘s ‘Summer of Shred’ as they will hitting the road this summer for multiple North American tour dates with DEATH ANGEL, STEEL PANTHER, HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER. Their shredding adventures will begin in Oklahoma City, OK on May 14th for US dates with DEATH ANGEL followed by a headlining show for Calgary’s East Town Get Down Festival that includes Anvil. STRIKER will then support STEEL PANTHER for their Canadian dates from June 14th to June 25th and then kick off a short headlining tour from July 2nd to July 7th before joining HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER for the ‘Deadly Ripping North American Tour’, which will invade 21 cities in USA and Canada from from July 12th to August 4th. STRIKER is touring in support of their sixth studio album “Play To Win” released this past October via their independent label Record Breaking Records.

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER‘s sixth studio album “Play To Win” features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments on “Play To Win”:“Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”

Album CD order, stream and download available on www.Striker-Metal.com, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

“Play to Win, which might be their most balanced effort yet. It’s their most catchy, too: the likelihood you’ll be singing along with every song before they finish is very, very high.” – Metal Sucks

“expertly combined killer arena rock choruses with well-done, cleaner verses.” – Metal Injection

“Six albums in six years. That is something almost unheard of, even in the modern era of production that considerably lessens the time needed to record and mix albums. Striker always seems to provide a new album right around when I start to wonder, “Hey, I wonder what Striker is up to?”. PLAY TO WIN is the band’s 6th LP and to my ears, one of their best. Rest assured, the band has not altered their sound. This is still classic metal, mixed with modern elements that continues to leave all pretenders in a cloud of choking dust.” – Metal Rules

“You can hear influences ranging from Dokken to Metallica on Play to Win, and it’s all done with masterful songwriting, performances and production. This is a slick, aggressively-mixed record that drips with excitement and replayability… Striker have produced their best record since City of Gold, and all fans of straight-up hard rock and metal need to own this album.” – Heavy Music HQ

“Striker have knocked this one out of the park and into the stratosphere. You’d be hard-pressed to find a catchier slice of fine cheddar this year, and I’d highly recommend it.” – New Noise Mag

Portland Power Metal TANAGRA Premiere Album Stream “Meridiem” via Bravewords

New Album “Meridiem” Out April 26th

Hunkered down across four studios for close to three years, joined by guest musicians on piano, cello, and viola, Portland’s Tanagra has been refining and crafting the seven multi-layered compositions on their upcoming album “Meridiem” to perfection. Set for release this Friday, April 26th, the power metal album packed with depth, emotion, harmony, and complexity is being premiered exclusively today on Bravewords at the following link: http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-tanagra-premiere-meridiem-album-stream

The band comments:

“‘Meridiem’ was us taking primary influence from classic prog rock and orchestral black metal alongside our classic power metal sound, with symphonic arrangements, multi-layered choral vocals, and moody mellotrons combining to make an atmosphere that sounds like nothing else. The diverse set of songs have a little something for everyone, from furious blast beats to smooth jazz piano solos and everything in between. Our main ambitions when writing were to make everything proggy and epic, and we pushed the songs as hard as we could on that. It’s a special album for all of us, with the meaning behind every riff and lyric. We’re excited to finally unleash it upon the world, and we hope people enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed writing it.”

“Meridiem” will be available on April 26, 2019 through Spotify, CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon.

Album pre-order is available on the band’s Bandcamp.

BIO:

Formed out of the love of science fiction, fantasy, and theatrical heavy metal storytelling, TANAGRA hit the Portland, USA metal scene in 2011 with epic, symphonic, progressive power metal with lyrical content about original fantasy/sci-fi settings, Magic: The Gathering, historical tales, and other nerdy themes.

In 2015, they released their debut album; None of This is Real, an energetic collection of American power metal showcasing their love for complex arrangements and lengthy songs which garnered critical acclaim from a multitude of publications around the world.

In the time following their debut release, the members found a deep love for progressive rock/metal and symphonic black metal, and in writing new material found ways to combine the sounds of bands like IQ, Anekdoten, Caladan Brood, and Borknagar into their existing American power metal framework.

In 2016, TANAGRA entered the studio with the fruits of their labors to begin recording their ambitious second album, titled Meridiem, slated for global release April 26, 2019.

Metal Injection Premiere THE FLAYING’s Animated Music Video “La Valse du Scorpion”

New Album ‘Angry, Undead’ Out Now! via PRC Music

L to R: Seb – Bass, Wil – Vocals, Mike – Drums,  Did – Guitar

Quebec City’s THE FLAYING recently unleashed their assaulting sophomore album “Angry, Undead” via PRC Music this past March. Working with Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy at The Grid in Montreal, QC, the album is pure mayhem for their fastest and most brutal debauchery to date. The concept of “Angry, Undead” is an intricate one with each of the eight songs falling under a distinct axis: Chaos (social manifestations); Madness (individual manifestations); and Void (existential manifestations). It is brutal, instinctive, unique, and wicked, and is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Archspire, Suffocation, and Deicide.

Teaming up with MetalInjection, the band continues their brutalism with their new animated video for “La Valse du Scorpion”. The track is a brutal tech hymn that is relentless and devastating. For the video the quartet hired Dwi Nugraha from Genocide Artwork in Indonesia to do the  animation with direction from the band and give life to the story of their mascot, “Ronnie The Rope Dancer”, the 5th member of the band that has been hanging upside down in venues for years and has always been representing the letter “I” in The Flaying’s logo. Now the time has come for the band to put Ronnie at the forefront and show the fans how this flayed alive anti-hero became to be… the rope dancer.

BIO:

And it all began with the rope dancer….

Formed in July 2010, The Flaying is a death metal band based in Quebec City, Canada that focuses on fluid melodic construction of songs featuring brutal sections which are further complemented by vocals with both low end growls and hateful high pitches.

Since their first release Unhope (2014), Seb, Did, Wil and Mike are forging ahead in order to adopt a more brutal approach: adding new grooves, a greater velocity, and creating a wider ambiance as well as keeping breakdowns and progressive parts with counterpoints constructing a main theme of anger and a general hate of humanity.

Soldiering on with the philosophy of one band, four individuals, four personalities to collide, the writing process is a team effort initially seeing the band collaborate on riffs and groove ideas, adding a flourish of low-end colors, and blending the whole thing together with flying vocals that create a manifest of pure mayhem. This product of this steadfast diablerie will be realized on March 22, 2019, when the second album “Angry, Undead” is unleashed on PRC Music.

– 30 –

The guitarist Didier Samson is already called “Master” in his profession of criminal lawyer, but it is under the title of “masters of the metal” that he and his three acolytes of the death metal band The Flaying aspire with their second album Angry, Undead which appears March 22 on the emerging label PRC Music.”

“True to the band’s name, the music of The Flaying will slash the skin from your face in paroxysms of blood-spraying savagery. But it does more than that. It will also suck the air from your lungs, boil the brain, and hammer your bones into fragments fine enough to blow away in the wind.” – No Clean Singing

“Angry, Undead is quite a number, I am really digging these addictive and mesmerizing death metal tunes and I am quite sure most of you technical and progressive death metal fans out there will feel the same about this album once you have checked this out. The Flaying is definitely a band to keep an eye and an ear on!” – Lords of Metal

“Solid and thoroughly enjoyable, The Flaying make a name for themselves on their second album. Angry, Undead is never at a loss for momentum and rage, and still manages to tickle your ears with its massive grooves and musical prowess.” – Dead Rhetoric

“It is a savage, brutish and barbaric death metal album emphasized by the nasty groove of Elegy of Emptiness and the booming Angry, Unleashed. A fine addition to any death metal fan’s collection.” – Games, Brrrains & A Head-Banging Life

Leading up to the release of their debut full-length album “Defenseless”, FRACTURES & OUTLINES, post-hardcore from Gatineau, Canada is releasing their new music video for the album’s title track out via SpaceUntravel‘s YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/SEXlRKW_-3s

The title track features the band’s signature catchy vocals blending punk rock into the post-hardcore breakdowns bordering on metalcore with both the melody and aggressiveness. The band explains the meaning behind their work:

“It has punk rock riffs and a melodic chorus, with heavy breakdown for contrast. The song is about struggling with depression and alcoholism and losing the fight.”

Full of heavy hooks, catchy choruses and brutal breakdowns the album clearly shows the band’s punk and hardcore influences, and follows their 2017 EP ‘Checkmate’. FRACTURES & OUTLINES comments that the sound will be a bit different from the demo:

“Since the EP, we are definitely more mature than our first release. We’re used to working with each other and we’re all motivated to try new things.”

FRACTURES & OUTLINES are suggested for any breakdown fans, especially those who already include Silverstein, Alexisonfire, A Day to Remember and Killswitch Engage in their rotations.

“Defenseless” will be released on May 17, 2019 and is available on the band’s Bandcamp along with their first single “Mirrors”.

BIO:

Ripping out of Gatineau, Canada, Fractures & Outlines are a post-hardcore band with influences ranging from Silverstein, No Use For A Name and Killswitch Engage.

The band came together in 2014 and work tirelessly planting their feet in the local underground music scene. Today the lineup consists of Nicholas Boudreault (vocals), Mathieu Frechette (drums/vocals), Eric Desormeaux (guitar/vocals), Maxime Rondeau (guitar), and Maurice Emond Jr. (bass). Intrepidly, they created their first EP ‘Checkmate’ in 2017, which was met with solid acclaim from various publications.

Since first taking the stage in 2014, Fractures & Outlines have played a whirlwind of local shows and festival including Rock Revolt 2017, Floodfest 2017, and Hullfest 2018. They have shared the stage with bands such as Sworn Enemy, Obey The Brave and Mass Hysteria.

As a team, the band works on each song together crafting heavy hooks, catchy choruses and brutal breakdowns with lyrical themes about internal struggle and having to fight your own demons. Each member brings a different set of musical influences to the table, making Fractures & Outlines stand out in the genre.

Working to further develop a sound that is their own, they hit the studio in 2018 to start work on their 10 track full length ‘Defenseless’, which will be revealed on May 17, 2019.

– 30 –

“An interesting choice to the lineup, as the other bands were of the deathcore / melodic metal genre. However, what they lacked in genre similarity they made up for in energy. This was highlighted by their cover of Alexisonfire “This Could Be Anywhere in the World“, which I and the crowd were taken aback by. Not only did they do the cover well, but they got the crowd engaged and were eager to mosh and sing along to it.” – Splice Media Group
