Tis the season for mistletoe, Christmas pudding, Auntie Marthaâs awful sweaters and of course, Krampus. Krampus the goat demon comes to take away all the children who have misbehaved during the year and this traditional central European folktale gets revisited with the seasonally appropriate track âKrampusnachtâ from Kansas Cityâs HELLEVATE.
Fortunately, it seems weâve mostly been good this year as we get this new single to bang our heads to instead of getting eaten by a monster. The speed/thrash act revisions the classic tale with a choice blend of hard-hitting riffs and quick drum work that is a welcome respite from the monotony of traditional Christmas music weâve been forced to endure.
âKrampusnachtâ comes from the three-track EP of the same name, which also includes âIf You Want PeaceâŠâ and âPrepare For Warâ. Itâs a hearty dash of thrash to complement your holidays. So while youâre unwrapping presents and stuffing your face with baked goods, add some Hellevate to your traditions and turn up Krampusnacht.

HELLEVATEÂ is an up and coming speed/thrash metal band based out of Kansas City, Missouri.
The band was originally founded by Danöwar in Kansas City in the mid-2000s with the intention of being the most Metal of Heavy Metal bands. Like all bands, the up-and-coming HELLEVATE endured several fluctuating lineups and styles for several years. The band came together in late 2009 with drummer RJ âThe Machine Gunâ Whitmer (brother of Danöwar), and Zack âThe Ripperâ Burke on bass guitar. Current vocalist Erik âJagerâ Schmutzler and guitarist Josh âThe Bossâ Cole joined the band in early 2013.
HELLEVATEÂ released the first EP in 2010 and a self-titled full-length album in late 2012. The band released a second EP âKill Confirmedâ in 2014 with the new band lineup along with the full-length album, âWeapons Against Their Willâ released in July of 2016.
The band has established itself by sharing the bill with many nationally touring bands, including Exodus, Kreator, Accept, Overkill, Ghoul, Venom Inc., and Danzig, just to name a few. Edmonton Prog TYLOR DORY TRIOÂ Streaming New Album “Unsought Salvation”

Tylor Dory Trio‘s new record “Unsought Salvation” officially drops on December 21st, but before it’s out, the band has teamed up with MetalInsider.net for the album’s full stream premiere HERE.
Full of enlightening riffs and spicy drumming, topped with delectable vocals, the album is the perfect listen to comfort you as the winter nights grow longer. The full length’s bass, drums, and guitars were recorded in Norway with Christer Cederberg at Cederberg Studios in Kristiansand during February 2017, as depicted in the band’s music video ‘East of Eden‘. Vocals and synth were recorded in their hometown of Edmonton at The Laboradory.
TDTÂ explains the full length:
âWe believe that âUnsought Salvationâ perfectly captures the bandâs complete sound â combining some of the lighter, upbeat moments from our first self titled EP, the darker, moodier atmosphere of the âCarried Awayâ EP, and more concise, mature songwriting than each of our previous releases. Thereâs still plenty of odd times, dynamic changes, unconventional chord progressions, playful drum and bass interplay, and slippery guitar solos, but we also focused on trimming the fat off of our arrangements so that we served the songs as opposed to showing off our musical abilities.”
Tylor Dory Trio was conceived in late 2012 by guitarist/vocalist Tylor Dory and drummer Jonathan Webster. Wanting to step aside from playing in extreme metal bands, Dory and Webster decided to form the duo to explore the music close to their hearts – proggy weird stuff. The trio was completed in late 2013 after the addition of their bassist Slava Fedossenko.
Bringing together influences like Opeth, Alice In Chains, and Rush; TDT is characterized by proficient musicianship, tight songwriting, and powerful hooks. It’s progressive metal that isnât pretentious. TDT loves pushing the boundaries of what a power trio can accomplish, but above all else, itâs about the songs.
Musically, they take their fans on a journey through light and dark tonalities, crushing heaviness to ethereal cleanliness, through peaks and valleys that end up coming full circle.
