Canadian Power Metal SYRYN Unleash Single ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’

Debut Album “Beyond The Depths” Out Jan 3rd

Hailing from Calgary, AB, a new legion of power metal thrash has come forward to tell stories of mythology and legends with their debut album “Beyond The Depths” due out January 3rd, 2020. Produced by the band and mixed by Jesse Kopala (Incite Audio) plus mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, He Is Legend, Scale The Summit), SYRYN‘s “Beyond The Depths” is over 30 minutes of epic tales through twelve adventurous tracks.

Following their 2017 debut single, ‘Unbreakable’, SYRYN shares the powerful grandiose shredding lead single off the upcoming full length, ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’. The track tells the story of an all-powerful Siren pulling out of her dungeon, the Pirates she has captured. Defeated, the Pirates are forced to kneel in surrender and with one swift swipe of a blade, they are deprived of existence and the seas are turned to red.

Listen and watch the lyric video for ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ HERE.

SYRYN was founded by vocalist Sloan Voxx after seeing Amanda Kiernan of Into Eternity perform at Calgary Metalfest IV in 2015. After that performance, Sloan was inspired to set off on creating a band that would be able to enchant, captivate and trigger emotion, with shredding power metal and the Mythological folklore of the Siren with an added twist. Setting out on her search to find members, the lineup you see today is solidified by Paulo Rage (Guitar), Byron Gorieu (Guitar), Lyxx Rose (Bass) and Bryan Campbell (Drums).

Since their inception in 2017, SYRYN has made lots of waves on the Western Canadian metal scene appearing on various festivals such as Decimate, Loud As Hell along with being scheduled to perform on 2020’s Hyperspace in Vancouver, BC on April 18th alongside Unleash The Archers, Silver Talon, Viathyn and more. SYRYN has also been recognized by Calgary’s local music industry, nominated earlier this year for a YYC Music Award for “Metal Recording of the Year”. Set to kick off 2020 with the seducing melodic power thrash of “Beyond The Depths”, vocalist Sloan adds:

“‘Beyond The Depths’ is a conceptual album that takes you on a journey through the eyes of a Siren. Her menacing instincts enticing her to lure sailors/pirates, torture them and kill them. This Siren, however, starts to develop humanity, which causes an internal struggle for her. The storyline allows you to be with her through this battle, its tribulations and emotions. To imagine what one would feel when faced with these situations and what decisions they might make. Will she succumb to her natural impulses, or will she fight with benevolence to be what she is to believe she is not?”

For fans of Unleash The Archers, Battle Beast, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth, “Beyond The Depths” pre-order is available on Bandcamp, Apple Music.

“‘Unbreakable’ comes in like gang busters from the very first note. The senses become infused with the haunting darkness that wants to possess your ears, and it demands your soul. I am captivated with every bass and drum beat which becomes intertangled with strong feminine vocals that speaks directly to me. Women have always faced challenges in any industry, let alone the metal genre, and yet here we are with the band Syryn featuring Sloan Voxx on vocals and their war cry for anyone needing that justifiable push towards righteousness on their own behalf or others. The guitars are sweet, fast, precise and impressively very Iron Maiden-ish. Overall, the entire musicianship impressed me. I actually got goosebumps listening to “Unbreakable.” This band reinforces the notion that metal talent is alive and well in Calgary, AB with Syryn on the scene. I for one am excited and looking forward to listening to their upcoming album in the near future. ” –  Metal Master Kingdom

“Frogg cover seemingly contradictory bases of portentous tech-death, galloping melodic thrash and hopeful, opne chord djent. It’s smart musical alignment with their theme of something new rising from the ashes of the old.” – Metal Hammer

“FROGG is a dangerous force of Technical Metal making themselves known!” – The Circle Pit

“Technical Death rising star” – GhostCult Mag

“The music is impressively performed and written.  Crazy technical menageries of Adderall-fueled obsession meshed with emotive melody just spilling out everywhere.  It’s a great time, and definitely worth checking out.  Definitely a band to be watching in the future.” – No Clean Singing

“FROGG have succeeded where others in the tech-metal cesspool have failed this year. They have produced a fresh & enjoyable 5-course meal of  original organic riffs, unsaturated with lameness & paired impeccably with a robust production worthy of all bedroom audio nerdz. A Reptilian Dystopia should be a huge part of everyone’s 2020 playlist.” – TrveNorth Reviews

“Besides the clever songwriting and incredible lead guitar work, I’m a fan of the way the album sounds, too. It’s almost certainly going to be too processed for some peoples’s tastes, but everything sounds wonderfully clear and distinct. The rhythm guitar tone is pleasantly crisp and the leads perfectly smooth, and the bass is super chunky. This is a promising EP, and I, for one, welcome our new amphibious overlords.” – Toilet Ov Hell

“This is an incredible EP, guys. Every one of these songs has made it into heavy rotation, and I am honestly so excited to hear more in the future.” – Metal Trenches

“Frogg are certainly worth checking out for anyone who likes their music heavy, brutal and challenging. This is not for the faint-hearted! The musicianship is superb throughout and this EP shows great promise. A new name to watch and follow to see where they go next. Good stuff!” – CGCM Podcast

““A Reptilian Dystopia” is absolutely a solid, proggy technical metal release, with all the time signature changes, insane scale runs, and gorgeous harmonies you’d expect from modern progressive shredders. Pulling no punches the EPs first track ‘Ancient Rain’ is a constantly changing beast of a track, shifting from blast beat heavy punishing riffs to entrancing melodies. I found it hard to get bored during its three and a half minutes of beautiful aggression… This guy is a beast on the axe, clearly, a great musician and I look forward to seeing this band do very well in the near future… if you’re into some proggy technical goodness, definitely for fans of bands like Obscura, The Zenith Passage or Fallujah.” – Roxx100

“My favorite part is definitely the ability to sound different in a genre that is starting to get a little stale. Its a heavy blend of Tech while adding some extra melody. Most tech death bands literally go for face melting riffs. Which is also cool. But after a while that gets kind of boring. So for a band like Frogg to put out an EP like this, they could help lead the next generation of tech death kids.” 10/10 – Between The Lines Media

“The quality on show here is amazing for a first release and has left us salivating at the prospect of their debut album [9/10]” – Metal Noise

“Bursting into life with a colossus bang, it’s a technical monstrosity that greets listeners with Ancient Storm. It’s wild, it’s nasty but it’s built on a foundation of sharp riffs and ferocious groove.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“There’s enough impressive lead guitar work to fit onto a full album, let alone all that’s crammed into these four songs.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“A short and sweet stash of riffs, licks and raw emotion inoculated over the years, poured out into the world in the form of modern and thrilling Technical Death Metal.” – The Headbanging Moose

“The band’s mix of fast, brutal and melodic aspects blends nicely to create an intense, high energy atmosphere. With guttural vocal roars, fast and technical riffs and a ton of raw emotion, what’s not to like?” – The Music Below

“This EP is interesting, because it’s extremely heavy, but it also has a great grasp on melody. Think like… Inanimate Existence + Born Of Osiris + Chon? It’s extremely well played – technical and fast as all hell – while remaining palatable and not overbearing. It’s an interesting balance they have going, and it’s definitely impressive for a debut, especially the 7 minute beast of a track that is DNA.” – Zax Record Reviews

“A Reptilian Dystopia is a succession of rock-hard riffs, complex melodies, extremes and power. The Ep is raw and brutal and according to Sky Moon Clark offers the basis for an album that will be released at the end of 2021. An album with an even more balanced track list. For the time being it is now fifteen minutes of solid extreme metal that will wake you up.” – Rockportaal

“A Reptilian Dystopia” shines with technical sophistication” – Artnoir

“This first EP should delight fans of Obscura , Necrophagist or Arsis… A Reptilian Dystopia is a solid discovery full of promise and the revelation of a very talented musician.” – Eklektik Rock

“Bonkers EP here that sploshes Obscura’s tech-death virtuosity up against maniacal djent intentions. The musicianship’s something else and the frantic widdling never seems to stop…” – Collective Zine

“The guitar work is beyond phenomenal, and the vocals are just as catchy. They aren’t 100% death metal but are really a blend of modern tech metal and death metal.  I’m extremely excited to see if the band is cooking up any live shows to promote the release and am definitely keeping my eyes on this project from here on out. If you want that Decapitated/Arsis/Obscura blend of groove and technicality Frogg is meant for you.” – Technical Music Review

“FROGG: Delivers an authentic live sound with no backup!” – Permafrost Today

The concept behind FROGG is simple: create modern heavy music while striving to show off some originality in an often, over-processed genre. FROGG’s main ambition is to hit the live circuit in NYC and its surroundings with a perfected performance and bolstered line-up.

FROGG started as your typical high school band with founder Sky Moon Clark and co-founder at the time, Ryan Panny blasting off primarily Children of Bodom covers for fun. FROGG was later revitalized by Clark, during his time at Berklee College of Music.

Through his time at Berkee, Clark experimented with different projects while continuing to funnel different guitar-centric song ideas and riffs into the archives that would later come to fruition with the next reincarnation of FROGG.

In 2019, the overstocked stash of riffs, licks, and raw emotion was ready to be poured out into the world what was a one-man project bloomed with the addition of Siebe Sol Sijpkens (bass); Anthony Barrone (drums) and Liam Zintz-Kunkel (rhythm guitars) to record the first EP.

With performance in mind, FROGG delivers an authentic live sound with no backup tracks, just raw, practiced musicianship. The dark and melodic band promises something hot, original and intense and the debut album “A Reptilian Dystopia” is slated for release in 2020.

“Beyond the Depths is another sterling example of Canadian might and strength.” – Dead Rhetoric

“And with this song (Dead Men Tell No Tales’, the Canadians clearly show that they want to follow in the footsteps of their compatriots from Unleash The Archers or The Order of Chaos. Power Metal with thrash elements, a singer who can easily stand up to the powerful guitars, the booming bass and the driving drums. The powerful vocals are peppered with high metal screams.”  – MetalHeads Forever Mag

“‘Unbreakable’ comes in like gang busters from the very first note. The senses become infused with the haunting darkness that wants to possess your ears, and it demands your soul.
