Vancouver’s DYATLOVE Premiere Single ‘Empty Lungs’ via GhostCultMag

Debut Self-Titled EP Out May 29th; Pre-Order Available

New Music Video ‘Fragile Fixation’

Vancouver’s Dyatlove are sharing the next single ‘Empty Lungs’ off their forthcoming debut self-titled EP due out May 29th. The track was the first song vocalist/guitarist Sam Caviglia and guitarist Rikki Jennings-Buford wrote together and what they felt the band was going to sound like moving forward.

Today, Dyatlove is teaming up with GhostCultMag for the track’s premiere HERE.

“I feel like it is classically the heaviest song on the EP with the the least amount of lyrics. At the time we really wanted the drone and doom to be the appealing factor and initially thought of having no lyrics on it at all. As we starting jamming it more we realized we are going to be a band with vocals and we should embrace Sam’s talents rather than dismiss them just because.” adds Rikki Jennings-Buford.

Recorded at Rain City Recorders with Matt Roach over the course of a few days, Dyatlove‘s sound is eclectic and diverse, at times morose and at other, heavy sludge. An EP that requires attention to take in, each song takes the listener on a ride with complex lyrical content aiming to grab attention. Guitarist Rikki Jennings-Buford shares his thoughts on the EP:

“I think this EP will be appreciated by more than just fans of heavy music. As musicians, we write the music that we want to hear and we aren’t fans of just metal. There is something for everyone who digs guitar-based music on this EP. We hope these 4 songs give you a good representation of our inspirations and where we could go musically.”

Lyrically it is about the pull of depression and not knowing how to get out of it and how it can take over your entire frame of thinking. Understanding you are hurting people but not knowing how to get out of it.

For fans of Converge, Deafheaven, Thrice, and Explosions In The Sky, Dyatlove‘s debut EP is available for pre-order HERE. The band will also be offering up a cassette version available from Coup Sur Coup Records that will feature an exclusive bonus track ‘Die! Kill! Pig!’.

About:

Dyatlove is a passionate foray into the realm of morose singer-songwriter overtones set alongside heavy music. Longtime friends Sam Caviglia (guitar/vocals) and Rikki Jennings-Buford (guitar) bonded over bands such as Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, and Pinback.

This array of influences drives the diversity of Vancouver, Canada’s Dyatlove, who don’t feel the need to pigeon hole into a particular genre. From sad songs to crushing sludge metal to 2-minute hardcore songs, Dyatlove conveys emotion and brings the heavy with drop A tuning.

Starting individually, the band works on riffs and ideas, eventually bringing them together to be fleshed out further. As full believers of limitless creativity, they don’t tie themselves to classic song structures. The lyrics come from many places, some are stories, some are personal experiences. There are songs about love of family, songs about loss, songs about anger and songs about struggles and addictions. Although varied in the subject matter they all have one thing in common, feeling.

Performing with the same intense passion and emotion that they bring to the jam space, Dyatlove intends to really connect to their fans, and show what their songs mean to them. With Rob Sheldrick (drums) and Justin Lacey (bass), the quartet delivers with an infectious openness and energy. Their self-titled, debut EP is being released on May 29, 2020 with the cassette version being released by Coup Sur Coup Records that will feature an exclusive bonus track ‘Die! Kill! Pig!’.

“they’ve got one behemoth set of four savage cuts on this record that warrant a major repeating, and a lineup of tunes that command & demand your full attention.  This whole experience met every hope & expectation I could have had, then smashed & surpassed them all – Dyatlove’s EP didn’t let me down for a solitary second – you need this record on your playlists this year.” – Sleeping Bag Studios

TALES OF THE TOMB Shares Guitar Playthrough ‘Dyatlov Pass Incident’ Off Conspiracy EP “Volume Two: Mendacium”

Edmonton death metal duo Tales of The Tomb are sharing with fans their latest guitar playthrough for ‘Dyatlov Pass Incident’. The track comes off of the band’s EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” unleashed this past September. The EP itself is a collection of narratives surrounding government cover-ups, national lies, and the heinous crimes committed amongst the shadows. It’s also a vicious bite of grinding blast beats, technical shredding accompanied by venomous guttural lows.

‘Dyatlov Pass Incident’, the fourth track of six on the EP, tells the tale of 9 hikers who disappeared in what is now called the Dyatlov Pass in Russia. This incident had inspired many different conspiracies trying to explain what happened to the 9 hikers that went missing and were later found dead in the mountain range. Because there was a random unidentified scrap of clothing that looked to come from a military uniform found at the sight of the event. When writing the track, the band took the angle that the hikers unknowingly stumbled across a military weapons test and met their demise. The song was written as a push-pull between the chaos of stumbling into this extension event vs. a seemingly normal journey.

Today, guitarists Trez Thomas has put together a new playthrough for the song, which is one of many more videos being released by the band in the coming weeks.

“We had a lot of fun filming the playthrough for Dyatlov Pass Incident. We decided to film the playthrough in one of the music stores Corey and I worked at for years called Axe Music here in Edmonton. Once all the gear was piled out into the new location and the store was just an empty husk we decided it would be cool to film a playthrough as one of the last things ever done in that store. Dyatlov Pass Incident is an older song for us so it’s awesome to be able to release that song and all this content for it finally. More so now that a lot of governments are opening up about UFOs, alien conspiracies and things that were all said to just be conspiracy theories!” adds Thomas.

Behold the shredding via the video’s premiere on GearGods HERE.

“Volume Two: Mendicium” was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist and head engineer/owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson along with featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks. The EP is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. The Nightmare Hall (4:05)
2. Faul (3:02)
3. The Sinful Messiah (4:14)
4. Dyatlov Pass Incident (3:52)
5. Nine Eleven (4:46)
6. Mermaid In A Manhole (3:33)
EP Length: 23:44

About:

Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death and murder metal, Tales of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music.  Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (guitar, vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.

Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales of The Tomb.

“Overall, I recommend this album to death metal fans of all varieties. It is a fun album with a lot of great riffs. Also, I highly recommend reading the lyrics and learning about the conspiracy theories behind the songs.” – Metal Temple

“Volume Two: Mendacium is six songs of punishing metal fit for listeners with the heaviest of taste. Whether you’re spending time carving pumpkins or watching slasher movies this Halloween season, be sure to make room on your playlist for Tales of the Tomb.” – Surviving The Golden Age

” Their new, independently released EP is heavy as ice and laced up with razor-sharp production. Volume Two: Mendacium is a non-stop frosty riff fest, delivered on a moose-poutine platter of awesome production thanks to the Canucks over at The Grid. Slapshot your wallets & pick up this death metal gem.” – TrveNorth Reviews

“The need to head bang is strong with this one, and it made for an excellent addition to my Death Metal library.” – New-Transcendence

“All in all, Tales of the Tomb’s latest installment is a rather subtle tale that is more akin to a destructive musical journey through morbid lyrical themes and passages.” – Metal Trenches

Rockshots Records: Ecuador’s BLACK SUN Release Single ‘Still Alive’ ft. Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Lordi, Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast) and more!

New EP “Silent Enemy” Out Summer 2020

EP guests include members from Sonata Arctica, Lordi, Battle Beast,
Thunderstone, Smackbound, Omnium Gatherum, Wintersun, Damnation Plan,
Arion, Firewind, Ensiferum, Norther, JF Aguirre Project

Well known in their home country of Ecuador and South America for supporting bands like Judas Priest, Kreator, Firewind (Immortals Tour 2018), Edguy, UDO, and more. Rockshots Records is proud to announce their latest signing of heavy metal trio Black Sun for the release of their new EP “Silent Enemy” due out Summer 2020. The EP follows the band’s three previous albums “The Pupetteer” (2017), “Dance of Elders” (2010), and “Tyrant From a Foreign Land” (2015).

During the production of Black Sun‘s new material, the band parted ways with their longtime lead singer. Under the guidance of the EP’s producer Nino Laurenne (Emma Winner – Finnish Grammy, Hevisaurus, Amorphis, The Rasmus), Black Sun found ways to complete the EP with guest singers on all the tracks. Guests include Finnish metal legends and talents like Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Lordi, Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), Pasi Rantanen (Thunderstone), Elias Viljanen (Sonata Arctica ), Netta Laurenne (Smackbound), Jukka Pelkonen (Omnium Gatherum), Asim Searah (Wintersun/Damnation Plan), Topias Kupiainen (Arion), Henning Basse (Firewind), Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum / Norther) and JF Aguirre (JF Aguirre Project). All come together to create a powerful and catchy metal hymn.

The band adds:
“This EP is a new beginning for Black Sun, the tracks were written during the touring period for the last album. However, during the production and recording sessions, the former singer was removed from the band. Consequently, the songs changed, the band had more flexibility and freedom on where to take these songs. Hence, the featuring of many different singers is what makes this EP unique. We can’t tell you exactly what will happen next, but we can guarantee this is only the beginning of an exciting new chapter, a rebirth that will bring much more music soon enough.”

Today, the band reveals the first single ‘Still Alive’, which marks a new era and a clean slate for the South American rockers. It’s the perfect soundtrack to what the band has endured and prevailed during its recording. The song features guest vocals by Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Lordi, Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), Pasi Rantanen (Thunderstone), Elias Viljanen (Sonata Arctica ), Netta Laurenne (Smackbound), Jukka Pelkonen (Omnium Gatherum) and Asim Searah (Wintersun/Damnation Plan).

The band comments:

“The light at the end of the tunnel. This is a melodic, powerful, and catchy metal hymn that features an array of multi-vocal performance by astonishing singers. It holds the final message that reveals the meaning of the whole concept of the EP.”

The EP “Silent Enemy” is a concept release of seven tracks, three of them being special music scores (intro, interlude, outro). The EP will also have a special short-film based on its storyline out on its release day that was written by Black Sun and Topias Kupiainen.

The EP was recorded at Hi NoiZ Studios and Sonic Pump Studios, mixed by Jens Bogren (tracks 2 and 3) and Nino Laurenne (tracks 1,4-7) and mastered by Svante Forsbäck.

Since the band’s creation in 2002, “Silent Enemy” is their first release without a lead vocalist to follow their three previous full-lengths. Their 2005 debut release “Tyrant From a Foreign Land” hit the Top 25 best-selling albums in their home country that year. Following that success, Black Sun toured the country while becoming a local sensation.

For their sophomore release “Dance of Elders”, the band decided to cross the Atlantic in 2007 and record in Hamburg, Germany at High Gain Records, a studio owned by Kai Hansen of Gamma Ray at the time. The album was produced by Arne Lackenmacher and Drik Schlächter. After recording the album, the band underwent several lineup changes, which led to the delay of its release until 2010. During this time and to support the second album, the band formed an interim lineup with past members and techs until a final lineup was settled with Santiago Salem (bass) joining the band.Their 2017 album, “The Puppeteer”, was recorded in Helsinki, Finland with a producing team of Timo Tolkki, Santtu Lehtiniemi, and Nino Laurenne at Sonic Pump Studios along with mixing done by Miko Karmila and mastering by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios. The release witnessed great success with singles ‘Robert The Doll‘ featured on the New Metal Tracks editorial by Spotify along with winning an MBN (MIS BANDAS NACIONALES) Ecuador Award for Best Music Video and ‘Let Me Be’ landing a top 40 spot (#36) on the Ecuadorian music charts (radio + streams).

Leading up to the release of their new album “La Bestia” on June 12th via label Bam&co Heavy, Canadian thrash metal maniacs Anonymus is sharing the full length’s lead first single “Sobrevivir”.

This is the 12th album from the Montreal band and it’s a little different from the rest of their French and English discography, being that it is the first full length that will be completely in Spanish. Anonymus explains their thoughts on the release:

“We always try to surpass ourselves as musicians and we always try to write the best songs we can. It’s important to be loyal to what we do but we listen to the new bands and how the metal scene evolves. I think over the years we can feel an evolution in the band’s sound.”

The song comes at an excellent time as it talks about survival in uncertain times full of desperation. The catchy tune is heavy and melodic, with refined techniques and vocal melodies. This is thrash metal at its best. A complete Spanish metal thrashing album that is a compilation of songs written over the years that describes the essence of the band at the peak of what they have to offer. For more detail on “Sobrevivir” the band says:

“This is simply about everyday life. Nothing is easy in the modern world. Each one of us has to work very hard to get where we want to be. It’s a constant fight. As simple as that. We can easily apply this song to our world’s survival in many ways”.

With over 2.5 million streams on Spotify, Anonymus is showing no signs of slowing down. Fans of thrash metal standbys such as Slayer and Testament will no doubt be intrigued by this new offering.

EPKAbout:

Anonymus is a Canadian thrash metal band that explodes on stage with each presence, that pulls you in with its passion and that yells at you with corrosive and violent texts that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Since their first release in 1994, Anonymus has made its mark on the Quebec music scene. From the beginning, the group has been well received while demonstrating its brutal sound and technique that has continually evolved over the years. Oscar Souto (vocals, bass) Daniel Souto (guitar, vocals) Carlos Araya (drums), Jef Fortin (guitar since 2006) and Marco Calliari (vocals, guitar from 1994 to 2006) have since widely traveled the roads of their country, participated in the deprivation of Mononc’Serge and continue today to ignite stages everywhere they go. These veterans of the metal scene continue to proudly carry the torch after 20 years of chaos and barbaric music.

Forever hungry for metal, everyone in Anonymus brings ideas to the table. Sometimes it is a whole song or just the beginnings of one, yet together the band works to create a full thrashy anthem from the pieces, working on it until it is complete. The music always comes first, and when the ambiance is formulated, the lyrics, which come from a personal place and from current events, can be added.

Unstoppable and indestructible, inspired by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; Anonymus is nothing short of the powerful, aggressive and technical thrash metal that they have been refining for decades exemplified on their impressive discography of both French and English releases, which includes: “Ni vu, ni connu” (1994); Stress (1996); Instinct (1999); Daemonium (2002); Academie du Massacre (2003); Chapter Chaos Begins (2006); Musique Barbare (2008); État Brute (2011); Envers et contre tous (2015); P.O.M.M.E (2017); Sacrifices (2019); and their first ever Spanish album La Bestia (2020) due out June 12 via label Bam&co Heavy.

Today, Anonymus does not need a presentation. This institution of the Quebec metal industry has been offering for twenty-six years, a passion for dark notes and unrivaled power. The offer is still valid. With more than 1500 career shows under their belt, Anonymus is completely in their element when performing in front of fans, they offer only their absolute best ensuring the crowd is moving. Having shared the stage with metal great such as Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, and Kataklysm at festivals such as Heavy Montreal, Montebello, and through international tours, they are no strangers to a wild show.

ANONYMUS FOLLOWS ITS PATH, AGAINST ALL ODDS!

0 FLYING FIDDLESTICKS MUSIC BLOG – Paradise – Self-Titled “The album opens with “Straight From Hell” and it is an adrenaline high. It is an unmistakable straight forward rock construction of verse-bridge-chorus, repeat, repeat, and the dial is set on stadium anthem. RL Black’s vocals are about as rock and roll as you can get – strong clean singing with a gruff edge. The lead breaks are short to fit in with the song structure, and they are pretty metal. I like the brand they have going here. It is great driving music, great drinking music. I would be stoked to see Paradise on the list of bands at a festival because you can just feel from these songs that they are going to put on a good show on stage.”

“Everything about this band is top quality and one of the most proficient, mature, classy and yet still exciting new bands in this field.” – Metal Rules

“Get close, get warm and listen to the tales told of Canada by Osyron. 8/10” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“a very solid entry into one of my favorite genres and I think it will fit right in many people’s playlists – and, more importantly, I think the playlist would be lacking without it. This one is worth picking up. I don’t think you will regret it at all.” – Uber Rock

“From acoustic to symphonic, each song has plenty of twists and turns with potent vocals and compelling arrangements that showcase Osyron’s instrumental prowess.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“Foundations is an impressive, very likeable album that will no doubt strongly appeal to a diverse range of metalheads, from fans of European power metal, to prog metallers, to fans of more modern metal. Given the strong quality of this EP, I very much look forward to their next full-length album, which could really establish Osyron as a new, fresh force in the international metal scene.” – Metal Observer

“Foundations puts the band front and center for another Canadian breakthrough to a worldwide audience. Osyron succeed in creating a musically catchy effort that also contains some interesting twists and killer interplay when necessary – and should be a band to keep tabs on.” – Dead Rhetoric

“This EP provides an array of great quality music that gives us a taste of what is to come.  This is professionally orchestrated throughout.” – Rock Out And Stand Out

“Seriously, it had been a long time since I had been blown away by a progressive metal release and this one does not disappoint. The production is on point and every song has its place on this EP to demonstrate what these guys are capable of. If you are looking for something different and fresh in a genre that has been known to stagnate, give this EP a nice long listen.” – Metal Temple

“Foundations is genuinely unlike anything I’ve heard before and it’s had me going back for multiple listens precisely for this reason. The musicianship and songwriting are of high quality, but it’s the production that really sells it.” – Moshville

“Osyron has definitely grown since I first got the chance to hear their music. They have matured in just about all factors that influence their music in any way: Skill, composition, production, anything you can think of. There really is no weakness to be found, they have delivered an awesome album with versatility and power as its greatest selling points. ” – Dutch Metal Maniac

“I came for the promise of Symphonic prog Canadiana and stayed for the skillful melding of genres and a cohesive lyrical arc packed into fewer than thirty Heritage Minutes. ” – Metal Bandcamp

“this record is symphonic and proggy in all the right places, and if you like bands such as Nightwish, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Kamelot, and Wintersun, you’re going to like this. But in my opinion, the ace card here is the lyrics, and the way that every member of the band has explored and interpreted the subject matter. They all had a hand in writing the tracks, for the first time in their history, and I think that it has really worked very well. I might not have known Osyron before hearing this record, but I definitely intend to get to know them more now.” – Ever Metal

“Osyron are a band well worth checking out if you are not already aware of them. They mix heavy riffing with wonderful melodies exceptionally well and have produced a slick, albeit slightly undercooked album with Foundations. It’s clear to see Osyron are taking a different direction, going for something more compact and less aggressive. But that doesn’t take away from some great musicianship on this album, in fact it has only enhanced it. If you’re up for exploring some Canadian history, I’d encourage you to dive right in.” – Abrasive Noise

““Ignite,” a battering ram to the face. A song that merges together two competing elements, the need for speed, and the curious desire for melodical contextualisation.” – The Median Man

“Their excellent blend of melody, speed and power always hits the sweet spot and I always enjoy seeing them. Progressive Power Metal at its finest. I could see them playing in Atlanta on PowerProg one year soon!” – Metal Rules (Live Review)

“Everything about KINGSBANE is supremely well done. They are one of my new favourite Canadian bands!” – Metal Rules (2017 Kingsbane album review)

“‘Kingsbane’ Voted #17 Best of 2017” – Metal Rules

“a stunning demonstration of metal majesty. I love theme oriented records because of the presence of narrative that directly shapes the tone and direction of the work. I further have taken a strong interest in this particular record in that I appreciate how these men pulled it off beautifully in the long standing tradition of European Heavy Metal. The Music itself is a fantastic interpretation of a saga that has shaped the way each song is written and performed. Without any doubts I can tell you that everyone in this band poured every bit of their heart and soul into this album.” – The Gauntlet (2017 Kingsbane album review)

“Prepare to enter the sonic equivalent of Valhalla, where glory is won with axes in hand; axes bearing six strings that pour forth thundering metal into the moody skies of some long forgotten time.  ” – Beatroute (2017 Kingsbane album review)

“This is heavy metal in some of its purest form. If you like your metal with a real force behind it you should give this one a spin or two. This is metal.” – Battle Helm

Osyron is a symphonic metal band based in Calgary, Alberta. The group consists of vocalist Reed, guitarists Krzysztof Stalmach and Bobby Harley, bassist Tyler Corbett, and drummer Cody Anstey. Bridging the gap between traditional European metal and the music of their homegrown contemporaries, Osyron has a sound all their own.

The band’s origins can be traced back to Ontario, where they began under the name Morbid Theory. After releasing two demos (Chaos Breed in 2006 and Harbinger in 2010), the band underwent some changes in membership, scenery, and identity. Moving to Alberta in 2012, the group, now rechristened Osyron, re-recorded Harbinger in Calgary, and released the album in 2013.

After releasing their sophomore album, “Kingsbane”, in the fall of 2017, the momentum that followed was swift. “Kingsbane” caught the attention of the European metal community – proving a favourite of audiences, critics, and radio programmers.

In 2018, Osyron released a metal cover of the Canadian national anthem, which picked up speed across the country. This patriotic theme continues into the new album “Foundations” (2020). Stemming from a perspective of Canadian identity and culture – both past and present, the new album challenges the global perspective of the great white north by retelling historical moments in an immersive and melodic manner. Speaking on topics of Canada’s colonization to the mistreatment and recognition of Aboriginal heroes to the country’s participation in global warfare.

The band explains further:

“We believe that the album will both surprise and challenge our current and new fans while still bringing back the big elements we are most known for (hooks, huge layered sections, melodies, and finger-twisting riffs, etc). This album is meant to be digested as an immersive exploration of Canadian history and identity. Delving into sensitive topics such as cultural genocide, racism, and segregation. It touches on more communal elements of emotion such as loss, pain, hope, and perspective of faith. Overall, ‘Foundations’ is a view into an unseen and rarely explained/talked about topics; human nature. We wanted to bring to life on the very foundations that Canada as a nation was built; the bloodshed, war, and assimilation of different ethnic groups (mostly First Nations) that cultivated into what we know as Canada today, as well as the very fabric that the complex, diverse culture of Canadians share. We hope we perfectly blend art with history, expression with emotion, and opinion with reason. ‘Foundations’ is but a chapter in a young nation’s history book, that just completed its prologue.”

“Foundations” is due out July 10, 2020 via SAOL/The Orchard and will be available on all major digital platforms

Osyron has performed alongside numerous major acts such as Norther, Protest The Hero, Into Eternity, Threat Signal, and The Agonist. Their next goal is to take their sound across the Atlantic to put on a true Canadian spectacle across the European lands.
