Streaming Now! REBEL PRIEST Boast Their Strongest Album Yet With “Lesson In Love”

New EP “Lesson In Love” Out June 24th

West Coast Canadian Tour Dates w/ Deadwolff

L-R – Jayme Black – Vocals/Bass, Nate Pole – Drums/Vocals, Benny Kemp – Guitars/Vocals

Vancouver, Canada’s Rebel Priest has been sharing their greasy version of rock n’ roll with the world for several years now and has accumulated an impressive discography and touring history. They are adding to their catalogue with “Lesson In Love”, which is streaming now for ears all over the world via its premiere on SonicPerspectives HERE.

This EP is the soundtrack for that summer you’ll never forget or that time you did that thing and you’ll always think of it when you hear this song. It’s a feel-good and take no prisoners combo at the same time! The band explains further:

“This new EP is our strongest yet! It’s all killer, no filler. No complicated stuff, just good, fast, and heavy! I think if fans liked our last stuff they are gonna think this is the best and if they didn’t like us then they will now! Lots of heavy blues metal rolling and catchy lyrics that make ya wanna shout out loud! We really tried to lighten it up and go back to the energy and feel that got us playing in the first place, music for an adventure or memory-making music!”

The band has been playing this batch of songs for a while now, so they are crowd-tested and roadworthy. While the big pause affected the recording process, they slowly got them down on tape and made them sound as wicked as possible. They are working on writing new stuff, so keep your ears open!

“Lesson In Love” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Rene De La Muerte (The Brains) and the album artwork was done by Angela Grimuzza.

Rebel Priest‘s greasy version of rock n’ roll is recommended for fans of Rose Tattoo, Deep Purple, and LA Guns.

“Lesson In Love” comes out on June 24, 2022 via Batcave Records.

“For me, my album Incremental Changes, Pt 2 is a musical statement, an emotional journey and an inner transformation expressed through music. When you listen to my album, you will recognize that it changes and develops a lot, I think that these changes reflect an inner transformation I went through, but also any person can go through comparable to a character developing and leveling up in a computer game. =========================================

The album as a whole explained:

It is a story being told through melodies and rhythms. I express these mainly through the piano and synth lead sounds and also heavy synth bass lines. Like in a symphony, melodies and themes are recurring. The album starts epic and heavy prog, gets a bit more calm and gentle in the middle, and then gets more uptempo towards the end, in the big finale it gets epic and heavy prog again.

Track by Track Explained:

1 – Prologue (7th Movement) [3:22]
Epic / atmospheric, without rhythm/drums, arose by a free jam with Julie Elven. Introduction of the piano, some leads, and some epic synths reminding on certain film soundtracks.

2 – Enigma (8th Movement) [6:40]
I would describe that as a heavy synth prog track that was inspired by Dream Theater. The idea for the main riff arose already 15 years ago. The main part here was finding the right sound for the riff and leads, but I am happy with the result. What I am happy with as well of how it develops, it starts pretty much heavy already, but through progressive parts and tempo and time signature changes the track is able to raise its energy more and more throughout the end. Aaron plays a killer drum solo in the middle through a theme that reminds of film music. Julie sounds great and brings the right vibe to the track.

3 – Flow (9th Movement) [4:29]
In this track, the album incorporates more jazzy elements, but without losing the epic and atmospheric vibe. Here I am playing a jazzy piano solo at the end which is a lot of fun to play, in the middle and end I am bringing up themes that were used in other movements already.

4 – Transformation (10th Movement) [5:00]
The sounds and themes are inspired by Harry Potter, Hans Zimmer, Skrillex, and Dream Theater. When I listen to it I picture a story about a big transformation in a pre-apocalyptic world. Aaron has a killer drum solo in the end as well.

5 – Submerge (11th Movement) [6:19]
This is inspired by Rachmaninoff, a movie soundtrack, and some jazz jam sessions I went to. This is probably also the most memorable track and melodies from the album.

6 – Gleam (12th Movement) [4:57]
This track turned out beautiful. It starts calm but it develops into an epic rock ballad track in the end, all in  7-8 of course. The guitar solo part which I play on the seaboard is a reprise of the 2nd movement from my first EP.

7 – Timeless (13th Movement) [4:46]
This is the calmest track of the album. It gives the listener opportunity to calm down again after that high-energy section. I really like the piano solo in this track which has a playful vibe.

8 – Pulse (14th Movement) [5:51]
This track is the track with the most electronic vibes, which is inspired by EDM music obviously. But I incorporated some piano music into the mix and also some jazz elements which makes this track a very interesting fusion of styles. Martins’ guitar solo is genius at the end of the song.

9 – Epilogue (15th Movement) [3:15]
Being almost teleported to the beginning of the album, this has a similar sound and vibe to the prologue. This was also recorded in the same impro session with Julie. This track was only improvised. Some additional epic sounds were added afterward. It was an amazing experience jamming with Julie, she has such a unique voice and creates such an out-of-this-world atmosphere with what she is doing, so it was easy to get inspired by that. This track is also the perfect transition to the big finale.

10 – Finale (16th Movement) [10:02]
Like in every big journey there must be a final challenge in the end, as the end boss in an epic computer game. This track would be the equivalent of an end boss in such a game, high energy, thrilling, action, complex, progressive, playful, and full of drama which eventually turns into something playful in between and something positive in the end. Just around the transition to the positive ending part there is a killer lead solo by Jordan Rudess. After that solo, I am playing my final synth solo of the album I am very happy with how it turned out and the album ends with positive and hopeful energy but leaves space for a continuation of part iii.

Background Info:

Gerald Peter Project is a crossover genre-transcending music project starring Gerald Peter as the keyboard/seaboard player accompanied by the versatile drummer Aaron Thier. Gerald leads through a musical story with his ongoing compositions by combining different elements of prog rock, neoclassical, jazz, cinematic, and electronic music.

Gerald Peter founded the project in 2014 as a creative outlet when he was a working musician on a cruise ship playing dance and party music every day. The creative outlet continued when he was working for ROLI as a Seaboard product specialist in 2015 & 2016. He collected many musical ideas over many years by improvising on the piano and seaboard, inspired by his favourite artists over a variety of genres (but mainly prog), and inspired by gradual and drastic shifts in his life (‘incremental changes’). After having a huge amount of music material, he thought it would be a good idea to compose, based on that material, some concert music being able to record, produce and perform his own music without the need of an entire band around him which was at this point in this life impossible to have because of ongoing traveling. In the beginning, it was an entirely solo project consisting of only Gerald on the keyboard/seaboard and a backing track that was created by himself. But after many living room concerts during the demo phase of his project, he decided to bring the project to the next level and add some live drums. He asked his former bandmate Aaron Thier from Circle of Illusion, who was a great fit for the project and music. They recorded the digital EP “Incremental Changes, Pt. 1” in 2016 together as a live video shoot recording in Vienna, which was released on YouTube and Bandcamp in 2017. In the years from 2017 – 2019 several live shows have taken place in many different locations, e.g. in Vienna, Nuremberg, Toronto, Budapest, and Anaheim, California at the NAMM show 2019. In 2019 Gerald Peter Project released two new performance videos and singles ‘Enigma’ and ‘Flow’ which are both part of the current album ‘Incremental Changes, Pt. 2’. GERALD PETER PROJECT incorporates self-made instrument reactive visuals at its live shows, which are created by a MIDI visualizer program Gerald developed by himself. Gerald was working as a programmer in his 20s and has a degree in media informatics. Some of his visuals can be seen in the music video of ‘Flow’ which was shot in the 8K projection room ‘deep space’ in Linz, Austria, and during live concerts.

Gerald Peter, born in 1986, is a composer, producer, and keyboardist from Vienna who has already worked for Jordan Rudess Music as a co-composer (for the albums “Rockestra” & “Heartfelt”), for Cirque Du Soleil as a touring show-band musician and for ROLI as an international seaboard specialist and demonstrator. Gerald Peter has previously released albums with his band’s Circle of Illusion and Inspirational Corner as well.

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. In 2017, having Aaron Thier be part of the project was a last-minute decision. I had the studio for a video shoot and camera crew already booked and Aaron had only one week to learn the entire music of Part I which was recorded and shot one week later.

2. When I was in London I got visited by Lisa Maria Harris, and a few moments before I just recorded the demo of the 2nd movement of the first EP and I ask her if she could try singing this melody, “I would like to know how it sounds”. Her voice from this spontaneous take ended up in the final record!

3. When I was performing at the NAMM show in 2019 unfortunately Aaron could make it, but I hired a professional drummer, Camille Bigeaut who learned the entire music. When performing at the Hilton Hotel at our spot we only had 10 minutes for the change-over in between bands, so I had all my interface and cables/notebook already ready in my suitcase which I just put as a whole on the stage.

4. When I was working at the cruise ship as a show keyboard player in 2014, I was using the crew party event “the crew talent show” as a spot to perform my first piece from my solo project in the main theater of the Carnival crew ship I was working at in front of the entire staff of this cruise. After that show, I was known on the ship, and people seemed to enjoy the show. I used video footage from that show to edit the video of “a piece of music by Gerald Peter” which I released at the beginning of 2015 on my youtube channel. This work motivated me to continue my solo project work.

5. We are performing the album release show for Incremental Changes, Pt. 2   in a cinema!

6. I was telling my mother “I need an outfit which glows for my video but I don’t how to realize it”, my mother “I can sew you a neon costume, do you have a draft of what theme you want on the costume”, I showed her what I want … she spent days of sewing but finally she got it right what I want and it is what I wanted which I used in the video and on stage. She is/was my costume creator even if she has never done that before!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 22, 2022

Get Ready For The Pit With Celestial Wizard’s “Eternal Scourge” Off “Winds Of The Cosmos”

Denver’s Celestial Wizard are huge nerds at heart and they infuse their modern melodic death metal with a myriad of fantasy themes. The upcoming album “Winds Of The Cosmos” is a more mature offering than their last and they aim to draw listeners in with their second single “Eternal Scourge”. Full of energy, this is their go-to pit song. Hard driving riffs come crashing in after an ambience of spooky, almost vampiric organs and guitars that set the mood. The song’s lyrics dig into plagues and war, violence and loss, and the rise and fall of heroes. Guitarist/vocalist Nick Dagger explains further:

“When Guillermo sent me that initial riff for Scourge, I knew that one was gonna be special. It’s fun to play, it’s fun to listen to, it’s the whole package. It’s fast-paced and aggressive, and it really delivers the aggression and attitude that reflects our energy on stage. The song makes you jump up like you’ve just got hit with a bolt of lightning, and that’s exactly the magic we were looking for. I think people are gonna hear this one and go nuts.”

Always working collaboratively, every single song on this album has elements from each member of the band, and they feel that’s one of the things that makes this album special. The band worked very hard on each and every song, and it is a firm display of cohesion and teamwork.

Celestial Wizard was formed in 2018 by members of a local band called Solarfall. Celestial Wizard’s founding members all shared a similar vision, they wanted to take their music to all corners of the globe and inspire others in the same way that their metal heroes have inspired them. Thrash metal and death metal are probably the biggest two influences in the band, however old school, traditional heavy metal is also near the hearts of the musicians. They are recommended for fans of Firewind, Amon Amarth, and Arch Enemy.

About:
Celestial Wizard is a fantasy-inspired heavy metal band based out of Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2018, this heavy metal quartet delivers crushing riffs and grand stories of dragons and wizards. Seeking to stand out among the others, Celestial Wizard combines the best elements of death metal with symphonic and synthwave elements creating a unique and engaging sound.

In the beginning, they carried a symphonic, fantasy sound dousing every song with a healthy dose of strings, choirs, synthesizers, and the like. This vibe can be heard on their debut album “A Sinister Awakening” (2018). Intended to be a concept album, they marketed some of the limited edition tapes and mini VHS tapes as though the album was a movie, thus The tapes ended up getting put in the soundtrack section of record stores.

The next year, drummer Tim Gillman joined Nick Daggers (guitar/vocals), Guillermo Jurado (guitar/bass), and Amethyst Noir (vocals) and they slashed most of the unnecessary backing tracks and refocused the music on the riffs and the core elements of the band. The evolution is reflected in the second album “Winds Of The Cosmos” (2022) (Release Date July 15th).

They deliver an energetic and engaging performance while keeping the sound tight. They make an effort each night to make their songs come alive and immerse the audience in their love for playing. They have played with bands including Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Insomnium, Nekrogoblikon, and Unleash The Archers. Combining their passions of Dungeons and Dragons, space adventure, and fantasy, Celestial Wizard takes influences like Arch Enemy, Metallica, Firewind, and Turisas and forge a path all their own!

Hailing from Los Angeles, USA, Our Dying World has been hard at work over the pandemic forging a new path in the metal world. Initially, they were more in the vein of thrashy death and released their debut album in 2019, but now they have embraced the melodic side of things and present their new form to the world through “Hymns of Blinding Darkness”. They explain further:

“It is an exceptional album of melody, personal experience, and the dedication of trying to push ourselves to our furthest limit. Lyrically, it speaks of many walks of life: sorrow, loss, hopelessness, but also empowerment, triumph, and solitude. There’s something for everyone to relate to in the wake of current times and cultural status. Musically, the record is attempting to stand out with its sophisticated arrangements, catchy hooks, and heavy melodies. It feels like a massive step up from where we were with Expedition and we think it’ll present itself as such.”

For the band, music comes from the spirit and when the lyrics happen, they’re usually derived from a personal experience or feeling that is going on in their lives. Musically, symphonic and melodic death metal isn’t the only genre that inspires them, they also give prominent nods to blues through their leads and solos.

Sticklers for details, when it is time for the band to go live they will provide an experience that’s more personal, intimate, and involved for the audience, unleashing a torrent of deep emotion, intense passion, and flowing melodic death metal upon fans.

“Hymns of Blinding Darkness” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Alex Crescioni at Stygian Sound. It is recommended for listeners of Wintersun, Children Of Bodom, and Nightwish

About:

Over the last few years, Los Angeles’s Our Dying World has gone through a tremendous evolution of sound from thrashy death metal of their debut EP Expedition to the symphonic and melodic keyboard-oriented stylings of bands like Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, and Dimmu Borgir.

Formed in 2018 by drummer/guitarist Tom Tierney (ex-Whiplash), the group has played shows all over the USA in their short time together, bringing their sound from the fabled Sunset Strip in Hollywood to the New Jersey Metalfest where they opened for Metal Mike of Halford.

One thing is clear from the young band as they prepare for the release of their second release; they’ve come to stir the standards that hold the metal scene and redefine them.

GREBER Announce Upcoming Grinding Hardcore Onslaught “Fright Without” Out September 2022

The deadly duo of Canada’s Greber are a harsh hardcore concoction that have a solid new LP “Fright Without” coming out this September 2022. Since getting together way back in 2006, they have come out with an impressive array of albums including four full-lengths and six splits with a myriad of crushing bands. “Fright Without” is being teased right now with an enticing short video, and for those that are interested in snagging the full release can pre-order it. Greber shares their excitement for the release:

“Fright Without’” is a handleless staircase that disorients as much as it overwhelms. Our testament to suffering and hope, balance and woe, heaven and here. With Kurt Ballou lending his abilities to the mix we’re beyond happy with how the final product came to sound and we hope that the listener finds it to be as much of an escape as they do a confrontation.”

Looking forward to getting feedback from listeners, Greber quotes that the album is “the same but different” from their earlier releases. They’ve given it their all to deliver raw, unrelenting noise and the few who have had the chance to hear it, have mentioned it being a big change.

“Fright Without” is ten tracks written and performed mostly by Steve Vargas (drums/vocals) (The Great Sabatini, BIIPIIGWAN) and Marc Bourgon (bass, vocals) (ex-Fuck The Facts) who are joined on several of the tracks by various musicians. These additions add new dimensions to the tracks, giving the listener more to chew on.

Risen from the ashes of their former band Tugnut, Vargas and Bourgon figured they weren’t done playing music together, and the seedling of Greber was nurtured from its germination to be a loud and devastating live force that could be used to vent their various creative impulses and have a really fun time doing so. Fast forward almost 16 years and it is still something that delivers on that front for them personally so mission accomplished.

Those that get to see Greber play live can expect a succinct set, with limited banter, no guitar player, high decibel levels, and a few sweet LED lights. They are recommended listening for fans of Unearthly Trance, Man is the Bastard, and Black Sheep Wall.

The teaser video for “Fright Without” can be checked out now, the full release is slated for September 9, 2022, and will be available from the following labels: Ancient Temple and Nofuneral for Vinyl, CD, and Cassette in Canada, Hibernation Release for Vinyl in the USA, and 7 Degrees and Fresh Outbreak for Vinyl in Europe.

Israeli thrashers Sinnery will be embarking on their first performance at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania on Friday, August 5th at 3 pm local time on the Brasov Stage, sharing that day’s lineup with Lamb of God, Overkill, UADA, Kataklysm, Necrophobic, In Mourning and more.

“We are beyond excited to get to play Rockstadt Extreme Fest this year! It’ll be absolutely incredible to perform on the stage with so many legends on the same bill. This will be our first show in Romania and we can’t wait to see you all there!.” adds the band

Full details on the festival and its lineup from August 3rd to 7th can be found at https://www.rockstadtextremefest.com.

Sinnery will be unleashing their much anticipated sophomore record “Black Bile”, six years after their debut. In the time since then, they have melted more influences into their sound, and morphed from a predominantly thrash sound to something darker, and heavier. Swept up with melodic breaks amidst the gutturals, they wrap their music in modern layers. The album contains ten tracks; recently they shared the first single, “The Burning” with a new music video, which can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/1U6_y-SDR7M

Single digital pre-save – http://burning.sinneryband.com

“The Burning” is probably the most popular song with the fans even before it comes out, the fans chant “God bless the human race” on every show so it was a no-brainer picking it out to be the first single off of the album. It is an upbeat thrash song with many heavy and groovy moments. It was perfect for the beginning of the album, to start with a bang, with no introductions or orchestral intros just straight-up metal from the get-go. Lyrically the song’s full name was The Burning of Mt. Sinai and so it’s easy to know this song is an anti-religious song, coming from Israel, religion is a big part of the atmosphere where we grew up, and we are not very fond of those establishments that are more about power and money than the lessons in those books they sell.” adds the band.

Coming at the listener fast and hard is the name of the game for Sinnery. They infuse their music with real true emotions and messages, nothing about it is made up, it’s all very personal and they really dug into the deepest, darkest parts of themselves to write this album. They anticipate that it’ll be received well and expect that listeners will find that sense of realness in it amidst relentless riffs and catchy melodies.

“Black Bile” is fast and full of energy, making it the perfect record to spin when getting amped up. Whether it’s for driving fast, headbanging, or hitting the gym, this is a wickedly fun album to listen to.

Sinnery is recommended listening for fans of Gojira, Testament, and The Haunted.

“Black Bile” will be released on September 16, 2022 via Exitus Stratagem Records.

About:
Forged by the love for metal and hatred for anything else, Sinnery formed in late 2012 in Herzliya, Israel. The four-piece toured Israel nonstop while entering the studio with Israeli producer Eli Pikover to record their first album “A Feast of Fools”.

In 2016, the band signed with Pitch Black Records and together released Sinnery’s debut LP “A Feast of Fools”, getting the band to play in Cyprus’s biggest metal festival “Power of The Night Fest 2017”. AFOF gained the band many new listeners receiving great praise worldwide.

In 2019, the band toured with legendary German thrashers, Tankard.

Fast forward to 2022, The band has completed production on their highly anticipated new album “Black Bile”, mixed and mastered by Matt Hyde (Machine Head, Trivium, Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine). The album is set for release on Sept 16th via label Exitus Stratagem Records (EXSR).

From the depths of the Niagara region in Canada, comes Eaten By Sharks with their new album “Eradication”. Initially, they were supposed to record in 2020, but those plans were dashed due to the pandemic. They are now ready to take listeners by storm with the follow-up to their 2013 debut “We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat” by starting with the single “Shallow Water”. Heavy odd-time beats swirl into catchy riffs, with sonic elements reminiscent of Meshuggah, Dethklok, and Dying Fetus. The first song on the album sets the scene for the nautical mayhem that echoes throughout the release. The band explains further:

“It was the last song written for the album, we already had most of the songs fleshed out for it. This song was thought of as a big ‘maybe’, due to not having much time to write it. However, it turned out to be one of those songs that flew together with little effort. It has an odd time swing to it that grooves and hits like a Mac truck. It then flip-flops between some harmonizing bridges, solos, and demonic typewriter-type polyrhythms. Matt then breathes life into the song with a bloody cove gone mad narrative. His vocal chops deliver some classic death vocals, mixed with some tasty staccato phrasing, fitting the instrumental structures perfectly.”

“Shallow Water” depicts the swift justice served up by sharks after humans impose on their homes. In its desperation to save itself, humanity forgets that there is always a bigger fish. The aquatic horror continues throughout the album, combined with punishing drum performances, unique guitar chords, and a progressive spin on technical death metal.

Eaten By Sharks splice their take on technical death metal with the apex predators of the ocean culminating in “Eradication”, a nautical-themed first-person horror experience. Fans of Fit For An Autopsy, Cattle Decapitation, and Revocation will be especially interested in taking the plunge into this new album.

“Shit, did they put on a solid show and constantly required crowd interaction. They seamlessly blended classic and modern death metal with some technical flare here and there. I was thoroughly impressed with this awesome band, and can only add another solid band to the ever-growing laundry list of opening bands that may or may hit hit the spot…..and Eaten By Sharks fucking shredded!” – Technical Music Review (Live Review – Eaten By Sharks Opening for First Fragment – St. Catharines, ON -12-2-18)

“They groove a ton, with some sweet guitar licks for good measure to keep your ears engaged. They’re a mix of classic and new death metal, and just as ferocious.” – Technical Music Review

Planet Eater has been a staple source of extreme loud blasting from barren prairies, spreading their influence into Western Canada and beyond. REBEL PRIEST

Rebel Priest is a no-nonsense, real-deal rock n’ roll band composed of three seasoned musicians who have been making their way through the Western Canadian rock n roll scene for years. Vocalist/bassist Jayme Black (Lust Boys, The Toxiks); guitarist/vocalist Benny Kemp (Lust Boys, Road Rash); and drummer/vocalist Nate Pole (Kill Matilda, The Toxiks) bring nothing but unadulterated, high energy grease infused Trash N’ Roll!

The band has had the pleasure of touring Japan, and performing alongside bands such as Udo (Accept), Lordi, Diamond Head, Crystal Pistol, Flotsam, and Jetsam along with playing many headlining gigs with the energy of Motorhead meets Motley Crue. Since forming in 2014, the band has released three studio albums “R’ley Heavy” (2019), Enabler (2017 ), Self-Titled (2015) along with one live record “Dead Alive @ SBC (2017).

Now in 2022, they offering up a slab of new music in the shape of a new EP “Lesson In Love” via Batcave Records/Thundermoose Entertainment on June 24th to follow their 2021 EP “Lost In Tokyo”. The forthcoming EP “Lesson In Love” is four tracks that ready’s fans to hear the band’s NWOTHM influences along with their brand of slurry heavy Rock n Roll.

Compared to last year’s EP “Lost In Tokyo”, which was written in Japan at the very end of 2019 about their adventures in the country, “Lesson In Love” takes a new avenue as they explain:

“On this EP, we really tried to lighten it up and go back to the energy and feel that got us playing in the first place, music for and adventure or memory-making music! The soundtrack for that summer you’ll never forget or that time you did that thing and you’ll always think of it when you hear this song. It’s a feel-good and takes no prisoners combo at the same time!”

Rebel Priest is recommended for fans of Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC and Motley Crue.
