NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 17, 2023

The New Video “Come Alive” Is A Brilliant, Melodic Journey From L.A. Project (ft. guests from Annihilator, Exxocet)

Top Left – Lukky Sparxx, Top Right – Luis Amaro, Bottom Left – David Mendez, Bottom Right – Rich Gray

L.A. Project has a solid new EP “Electric Life” coming out July 223 and leading up to it, they are releasing their single “Come Alive”. The international melodic metal/rock group has been pieced together by top players in the game including bassist Rich Gray (Annihilator, Aeon Zen), and vocalist Lukky Sparxx (Exxocet) who have joined guitarist/visionary Luis Amaro. The response to the first single “Carry On” was very positive and they expect a similar reception with this new track. Amaro explains:

“David Mendez is a great session drummer from Argentina and he recorded all the drums in the EP with the exception of “Carry On” that is with Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator). The video of this single was produced by Audiologic and I think it is great. It was a big challenge for me to create a visualization of the lyrics and I think we got it. The guitars, the bass and the drums are always doing something special and the great voice of Lukky keeps it all together. Hope you like it too.”

“Carry On” the first single started with 3 chords and developed from that. After recording the single Alessandrini was replaced by David Mendez on drums and they started working on the new single “Come Alive”. In this song, they bring out a heavier sound with more focus on the guitar parts. There are lots of layers in the track as all the new songs have three or four guitars playing at the same time, which gives it melodic texture and many things to focus on. Each playthrough offers a new perspective.

Detailed, inspiring, and powerful, L.A. Project is recommended for fans of Dokken, Hardline, and Jet Jaguar.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

Carry On, the first single we released started with 3 chords and developed from that. Fabio Alessandrini did a great job on the drums and got my idea and what was the spirit of the song Rich complete the music with is bass a Lukky finished the song.

After recording the single Fabio was invited to Bonfire and we replace him with David Mendez on drums and we started talking about working on the new single Come Alive. In this song, we try to put a little more heavy sound and more guitar stuff. The drum is very good and has some very nice rhythm lines. The video was a big challenge to me to create a visualization of the lyrics into an image and I think we got it.

Montreal, QC – April 14, 2023

Rockshots Records – Enter “Dreamland” ft. Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) & Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind) w/ DREAMYTH’s Music Video For New Mythology Album “Aletheia” Out Now!

New Album “Aletheia” Out April 14th, 2023

Celebrating the release of their debut album “Aletheia” via Rockshots Records, Spanish power melodic metal Dreamyth is welcoming fans to join them in “Dreamland” with their latest music video featuring guest vocals from Primal Fear’s Ralph Scheepers and a keyboard solo from Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind), which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/01iOuYpXcFI

Guitarist /composer Adrián Carrero adds:

“We arrive at one of the most significant tracks of the album, not only for the incredible vocal performance of Ralf Scheepers, but for being one of the songs that represent the sound of the band, in the same way as Aletheia, but a little more complex in terms of composition and arrangements.

A simple but forceful introduction gives way to a classic riff adorned with classic and modern instruments (organ and synthesizers) to create a unique atmosphere before the entrance of Mr. Ralf, who bursts in a somewhat mysterious way as if it were a dream, to then print a huge power to the voice. More than 6 minutes of song that surprises you, lifts you up, and leads you through its dynamics for a wonderful journey, you will not be disappointed.

Obviously, I’m talking about Dreamland, whose name comes from being the original name we wanted to give to the band before we saw that it was already taken.

As in all cultures, there is philosophy and we question the meaning of life, here again, we will not have a clear answer but the lyrics will encourage us to reflect on that question.

Personally, it is one of the songs that I am most proud of composing and one of the songs that the fans will like the most, I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.

One of the voices we grew up with, that has been with us all our lives, now on our first album, just crazy!”

Combining heavy riffs, epic and majestic orchestrations, modern synths, and stunning vocal and harmonies with finesse like no one else, Dreamyth delivers a high caliber album with special guests Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), Herbie Langhans (Firewind, Avantasia), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind) and Eduardo Guilló (Sun of the Dying, Crusade of Bards). Dreamyth intends to conquer the heart of metal fans all around the world.

Dreamyth was formed in 2020 by guitarist and composer Adrián Carrero (Crusade of Bards) and drummer David Macarrilla. Dreamyth crafted its name by combining the words “Dream” and “Myth”, which they described as “a new world beyond imagination where its Myths and legends are real”. Andrea Carrero completed the core of the project after singing on all the song demos (released and unreleased). Soon after they were joined by Paolo Andreotti (Crusade of Bards) and second vocalist Dani G.

Band co-founder Adrián Carrero’s passion for classical history and culture, especially his stories about mythology in different cultures influences the lyrics that accompany the band’s compositions. Everything takes place in a new world where they are the Gods, Aletheia.

The concept album transports fans to a new world “ALETHEIA”, and the myth and legends that surround it are sometimes approached from a philosophical point of view.

“The idea was born from the need to give a new approach to the way of telling the myths of our world. Over the years, these stories derived from cultural traditions or legends, which have a deep symbolic meaning and usually involve a lesson, have been shared in different ways and have always generated a certain curiosity and inspiration in society. Luckily, there are tons of myths and legends and often many variations of the same core story between different cultures.” adds Adrián Carrero.

This first album focuses on the creation of this new world and its beginning, giving rise to a polytheistic culture where the band members are the most revered Gods with different attributes. In this approach, the band makes its own reinterpretation of some classical myths (including references to some of the most famous Greek mythologies) mixed with different personal experiences and concerns. With two lead vocals, the record brings a constant contrast, giving more life to the melodies and strengthening specific parts with numerous backing vocals. Apart from them, the first-class guests bring much more musical variety, and metal fans will be surprised and in their comfort zone at the same time with this album. Epic and catchy melodies mixed with a powerful instrumental background.

The musical composition of the album is clearly influenced by the great power metal and symphonic groups, some of the band members’ favorite genres. “Aletheia” incorporates flourished power, pop, metal, and rock songs combined with incredible storytelling of a mythical, and unique world filled with wonderful shades of “light in the dark.” On it, you can see a lot of guitars with doubled melodies, keyboards interacting with these melodies, epic orchestrations with a high level of detail, a lot of contrasts… music with a big amount of different sounds, from intimate ballads with only acoustic instruments to furious riffs leading to epic or darkness places.

Adrián Carrero adds, “The band and I are so excited to bring you the first chapter of our story! We’ve been working really hard on all this music, making the stories connect and the music itself reflect the plot of each. It’s definitely the most time we’ve spent on a musical project and the first time I’m leading all the work, from the first song ideas to the lyrics. We hope people enjoy it as much as we did forging it.”

Dreamyth is recommended for fans of Avantasia, Firewind, and Beast in Black.

0 ENDEAVOUR Takes A New Look At Metalcore With “Aimless” Off Debut Album “For The Time Being”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 14, 2023

ENDEAVOUR Takes A New Look At Metalcore With “Aimless” Off Debut Album “For The Time Being”

Endeavour is a metalcore band that consists of five musicians from The Netherlands. Through beating drums, memorable melodies and captivating guitar parts, Endeavour has made clear they’re a force to be reckoned with. Their music ranges from hard-hitting and energetic to melodically atmospheric and catchy. Their debut album “For The Time Being” is a powerhouse of an initial release and is sure to grab the ears of listeners around the world. The next introduction to the full-length is the single “Aimless”, and the band explains the track and their forthcoming album:

““Aimless has a huge chorus and breakdown and a lot of energy throughout. The lyrics are inspired by conspiracy theories. As for the albums, the tracks don’t necessarily link to one another by telling one overarching story. There are also songs that go for a more subdued attitude throughout the whole track. ‘Black Box’ for instance, has a kind of calming and uplifting feel to it and then there’s a heavy hitter like ‘Aimless’ that harmonically opens up in the chorus, hinting at that calmer feel without losing energy..”

The video for “Aimless” can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/u8mw6QfFt6E

Digital Single – https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/endeavour1/aimless

According to the band, “For The Time Being” is heavy yet melodic with a focus on harmony. It is a bit eclectic at times, but that makes the album varied and thus exciting. It was important to them to not limit themselves to just breakdowns. They have dutifully created a contrast between softer and heavier parts making the heavier parts hit even harder.

Endeavour has learned a lot throughout the last couple of years and has been focusing more on playing with the contrast between lush ambient soundscapes and a direct and impactful modern metalcore sound. “For The Time Being” is recommended for fans of Bad Omens, Northlane and Sleep Token.

“For The Time Being” is due out June 16, 2023.

”Already having picked up notable coverage from the likes of Insane Blog and even some early Spotify editorial playlist support, this bright young band is delivering some absolute fire with their newest single. While taking notable influence from bands like Architects and Northlane (to name a few), Endeavour are getting closer to finding their overall sound – and we’re here for it. Give the new track a spin below.” – New Fury Media

”BLUR showcases how a song can stand out from the crowded music world by not being afraid to focus on lush vocal melodies and heavier style that blends seamlessly with lighter elements in a natural, organic way.” – Toxic Metal Zine

”Sticking to their ‘single-word’ track-titles, Endeavour have launched into 2023 with ‘Blur‘ – a representation of what their latest studio run has cooked up. The new single is reminiscent of, and has influences from TesseracT and Sleep Token, which should tickle the fancies of prog-metalcore lovers out there. We reckon you should keep an eye on Endeavour this year as there might be a lot more to come…”- Wall Of Sound Australia

EPK – Endeavour – For The Time Being (2023)

For fans of Bad Omens, Northlane, Sleep Token, Architects, Polaris

“The tracks don’t necessarily link to one another by telling one overarching story. However, some songs do have a connection to each other by delving a bit into personal matters. Others tell stories that are much broader and less personal. ‘For The Time Being’ captures the contrast between fleeting personal issues and the broader problems we face. They make up a big part of someone’s journey through life but are definitely not always insurmountable, though it does feel like that sometimes.

‘For The Time Being’ is all about that journey for us. It reminds us about the seemingly hopeless and overwhelming situations we find ourselves in that we’ve been able to get past. Some issues might still be there, but that’s okay for the time being. We’ve learned a lot during the process of making this record, and are happy we are finally able to show it to the world!” – Endeavour

==============================================================

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BAND:

1. Endeavour began working together with producer and audio engineer Tommie Bonajo around 2020. This is what marked the beginning of the writing process for the album ‘For The Time Being’.

2. Gijs Smeets is the host/presenter of the Dutch tech and gaming YouTube channel Redux Gaming. You can find all kinds of gaming and PC-related content here (in Dutch though).

3. Rob, Jan and Anthony have graduated from the Conservatory of Maastricht. Teun is almost done with his study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Gijs studied at the Conservatory of Maastricht as well for almost three years but quit when he got a job offer as host/presenter and Product Manager at Redux Gaming.

4. Before Rob joined Endeavour, Vincent Kuijpers (who currently plays bass in Beachdog) played lead guitar in the band. He wrote the instrumentals for our single Breathe, the only song on the album that wasn’t written almost entirely by Anthony. It definitely adds a different vibe to the album because of this!

5. While writing for ‘For The Time Being’, we’ve been writing for our second album simultaneously. It’s already pretty far in its development!

==============================================================

The album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

MUSICALLY: Heavy yet melodic with a focus on harmony. A bit eclectic at times, but that makes the album varied and thus exciting. You never know what’s going to come next :).

LYRICALLY: The tracks don’t necessarily link to one another by telling one overarching story.

We’ve learned a lot during the process of making this record, and are happy we are finally able to show it to the world!

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

*Definite:
One of the heaviest songs on the album alongside Aimless. There are lots of screams. Musically very interesting and varied. Lots of synths and a huge breakdown.

“Lyrically it is about, very original I know, a breakup I went through :).” – Gijs

*Blur:
Blur is one of our newest songs. It’s melodic, big, and has exciting choir parts. The lyrics were inspired by the passing of Gijs’ grandmother.

*Black Box:
The lyrics were inspired by the MH-17 passenger plane being shot out of the sky, killing everyone. All were innocent passengers, mostly from The Netherlands so it’s kind of a big deal here. Probably the softest song on the album. It has a catchy chorus with an uplifting feel to it, which ties into the MH-17 passenger plane theme. Halfway through there’s a somewhat heavier section with an interesting harmonic approach.

*Aimless:
Huge chorus and breakdown. A lot of energy throughout. Lyrics are inspired by conspiracy theories.

*Colourblind:
Colourblind is a very good nudge into the direction we want to go in the future. Small and vulnerable first verse, contrasted by a big breakdown with a choir in the background.

“Lyrically it was inspired by some of my darker days. We all have them.” – Gijs

*Sober:
“This has to be my favourite song off the album and really shows us drawing inspiration from some of the fresher sounds from bands like Sleep Token and Bad Omens. Very atmospheric and melodic and building up to a huge climax.” – Gijs

*Breathe:
Breathe might be our most experimental song and really stands out. That’s because this is the only song written by our ex-member Vincent. Vocals again by Gijs and Anthony. This song got Drum and Bass influences, a kind of rapped verse and the nastiest breakdown and sound overall.

*127:
This was the first single we released. “It still is our catchiest riff and chorus if you ask me” – Gijs.
Lyrically inspired by the movie “127 hours”.

*For The Time Being:
Though it’s the last song that we finished and recorded, it was actually one of the oldest demos we had lying around. You’ll find less of our new sound and more of a “classic metalcore” sound.

“The lyrics are inspired by my fear of looking too far into the future. I don’t know why, it just overwhelms me.” – Gijs.

After gaining a lot of new listeners with the single releases for ‘127’, ‘Black Box’, ‘Definite’, and ’Breathe’, Endeavour continues to be fully committed to earning their spot in the contemporary metalcore scene. Consisting of five musicians from the South of The Netherlands. They are influenced by bands such as Northlane, Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Architects, and Loathe. Through hard-beating drums, memorable melodies, and captivating guitar parts Endeavour has made clear they’re a force to be reckoned with. Their music ranges from hard-hitting and energetic to melodically atmospheric and catchy. It shows they’re capable of even more promising releases in the future. As time goes on, the five metalheads won’t be discouraged to keep building on the foundation they’ve made for themselves. Being added to Spotify Editorial Playlist ‘Rauwe Kost’, and being given airtime on the Dutch radio station KINK helped them gain even more followers across the BeNeLux region. Praise and attention for their music can be found outside of the BeNeLux as well. Media outlets such as  Wall Of Sound Australia, Toxic Metal Zine, New Fury Media, Core Community, Core Radio, Ghost Killer Entertainment, lan Scene and Insane Blog have featured Endeavour’s music on their platforms in the past. The band has also received positive feedback on their music through reaction videos from YouTubers like Richard Janvrin, GazMASH and more.

While attracting a lot of new fans with each single release, Endeavour is readying themselves for the release of their upcoming debut album ’For The Time Being’. They’ve already successfully showcased their music to new fans as support act for bands from all over Europe, the UK and Japan such as Immerse (UK), Behind Blue Eyes (UK), Elyne (Italy), Tide Has Turned (Germany), For I Am King (The  Netherlands), Fleddy Melculy (Belgium), Sable Hills (Japan) and more.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 14, 2023

Star Trek Metal! OF ROMULUS (Members of Helion Prime, ex-Dire Peril) Explore Their Inner Trekkie Power Metal w/ Debut Single

Of Romulus sees Heather Michele and Jason Ashcraft reuniting in full force since the 2016 debut self-titled Helion Prime album along with ex-Dire Peril bassist Chelsea McMasters joining the band. With their debut single, which is also the namesake of their new project, they are happy to present to Star Trek and metal fans “Of Romulus”. The track was mixed by Michael Goodrich and mastered by Ted Whitten Media. Additional engineering was done by Carlos Alvarez of Dirty Viking Audio along with drums performed by Justin Tvetan (Wastewalker).

The band members comment on the new endeavor and song:

“I am so excited to be singing over Jason’s always exceptional music again. It’s been a long time coming, and I feel what we’re working to deliver is some of our best work yet. I am so happy to finally be working so closely on a project with Chelsea. She’s an incredible human and a phenomenal bassist. I’m so stoked to get to write and sing about something so very close to my heart. I hope I do my fellow Trekkies proud! LLAP” says vocalist Heather Michele.

“It’s been great working with Heather again. While we did write the third Helion Prime album together this is our first time really back in the thick of it since the debut Helion Prime album. I am very excited about what we’ve been coming up with and think fans of old Helion Prime will be very pleased. Of course, I had to bring Chelsea along to slay on the bass!” adds guitarist Jason Ashcraft.

“I remember listening to Heather and Jason’s material a few years back before I had never really listened to power metal. That opened a door I never thought would have led to here and I’m SO thrilled to have gotten to be a part of this new project with them. I really think sci-fi fans will enjoy this high-energy, first release!” says bassist Chelsea McMasters.

For those who are not very familiar with Star Trek, Romulans are distant cousins of Vulcans (like Mister Spock). They look very similar to Vulcans, but where Vulcans are driven by logic and controlling their emotions, Romulans are highly emotional and rather xenophobic. They believe they are a superior race and are always scheming to take over control of the galaxy.

Heather Michele tells the story behind the band:

“So the concept for ‘Of Romulus’ is I am a Romulan commander, Jason is a Romulan sub commander, and Chelsea is our human companion we have enlisted to help us tell our story. Jason and I were members of a Romulan science vessel called the ‘Namek D’Ral that had figured out a way to travel through time (fun fact: The name for the ship is an anagram of Mark Lenard, who was the first actor to play a Romulan). So, the Romulan High Command sent our ship on a mission to travel through space and time, gathering intel on how we could manipulate the timeline to the planet Romulus’ advantage. Romulan starships have the ability to cloak, so they cannot be seen by the naked eye or by most tracking systems.”

Basically, most of Of Romulus’ songs are about episodes of Star Trek, with the assumption that the ship was there watching and couldn’t be seen.

Michele continues:

“While the ship was in the middle of our method of time travel (The Breakaway Effect; where you travel towards a star at the speed of light, then break away from its gravity and are thrown into another time), a glitch in the space-time continuum occurred causing the ship to malfunction and ultimately be destroyed. We happened to be in the vicinity of Earth in the 1980s, so before the ship exploded, Jason transported us off the ship down to Earth.

We’ve waited 40 years to find a way off Earth, to no avail, and we have finally decided our last option is to disrupt the timeline by telling everyone on Earth all these secrets we have learned in our travels (by singing about them). Our hope is this organization called ‘The Temporal Police’ will hear about what we are doing and come get us.”

Despite The Reverence Now Streaming Intense Fifth Album “Stress Of Evolution”

New Album “Stress Of Evolution” Out April 14th

Despite The Reverence, a staple in the Canadian music scene for the last decade now has a brand new album “Stress Of Evolution” out now as of April 14th. It’s a twelve-track, neck-breaking monster of an album that builds on all of their previous work and cumulates into a release that is accessible, yet devastating. It’s dynamic, mature, and has something for everyone. The band shares their excitement:

“This album features songs that range from epic technical arrangements to straight-up rock songs. The album starts out heavy and intense. There is a classical acoustic piece in the middle, followed by a heavy metal ballad and a surfer rock-style song before the songs rise again to a heavy crescendo. The 12th song almost stands alone as a heavy metal disco anthem. The lyrics follow the theme of technology being infused into society and directly into humans making us dependent on them and creating less of a need for human interference.”

The band continues to say that they are very excited about this new album as they continue to evolve as a band and as songwriters. This album combines all of the best elements of Despite The Reverence that have been sharpened over the last 4 albums prior. All songs on the album were performed and written by Despite The Reverence; it was produced and mixed by Chris Douglas at The Sound Castle and the mastering was handled by Trevor Case at Case Mastering.

As with most bands, there is a wide variety of musical influences woven throughout Despite The Reverence’s music, including those from a variety of thrash, hard rock, prog and heavy metal.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 13, 2023

Extreme Metal Music Signs Italy’s MEMBRANCE For New Album “Undead Island”

Extreme Metal Music a subsidiary of Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of Italian death metallers Membrance for the release of their new album “Undead Island” due out later in 2023.

The band comments:

“We are happy and proud to see Undead Island to be released. This record is the most violent, direct, visceral, and introspective work we have ever thought and conceived since we started playing. In addition to being the first album with Giacomo, who joined the group with our best album, we are particularly pleased to announce our new artistic direction introduced by the Venetian dialect.

We have worked hard to create a good record, not only have we spent almost three years completing all the compositions and rearrangements, but we have also found sonic solutions that we didn’t think possible or feasible when we finished the last work. We didn’t really believe it was possible to have an old school.. with modern sound!

We are so excited by this release that now we can’t wait to be able to make the next record!”

Membrance was born in Venice in 2012 from the mind of founding member Davide Lazzarini as a Death Metal and Black Metal crossover project, it wasn’t until 2014 and onwards, after several line-up changes, that the group stabilized in old-school Death Metal with blues/rock n’ roll influences, which was reinforced by the entry of lead guitarist Pietro Battiston.

After an intense period of live activity in the underground and various demo recordings, in 2017 Giovanni De Fraja joined as the drummer and Membrance decided to work more seriously on their own music. They immediately recorded and produced their own debut album “Abyss”, initially released independently it was quickly picked up by the Ukrainian label Envenomed Music.

Thanks to this first release, the group received a fair amount of approval in the Italian and European underground scene, and we’re contacted to play at Metaldays of Tolmin 2018 in Slovenia, along with the Winterdays of Metal of the same year, plus asked to be opening support for various international bands on tour in Italy such as Marduk, Brujeria, and Necrodeath.

These successes pushed the group to collaborate again with Envenomed Music and with the support of Narcoleptica Productions, Membrance produced their second studio album “Morality’s Collapse”, which was released at the beginning of 2019 with the sound evolution of 16th Cellar Studio in Rome (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hideous Divinity, Hour of Penance), starting a path towards the Swedish old school Death sound “HM2 style”.

However, with the arrival of the Covid pandemic, despite growing approval and greater support for the international live scene such as Entombed A.D., Cripple Bastards, and Benediction, after 5 years of activity, Pietro decided to abandon the group leaving to Gregorio, the rhythmic player who just recently entered the group, the task of replacing him.

Giacomo Rusconi also entered the band as the second guitarist, the group embarked on a path of musical evolution in the following years in which it abandoned the blues influences to embrace a more black metal style and worked on texts in Venetian dialect along with lyrical influences inspired by the lagoon folklore.

During the summer of 2022, the recordings of the third studio work “Undead Island” were concluded with the support of the AudioCore Studio, which further develops the sound path started on the basis of the Swedish HM2 sound.

Info on singles and album release date for “Undead Island” to be revealed in the coming weeks.

With impressive, powerful vocals and sweeping, exhilarating riffs, Sovereign Council have received tons of attention in their home country of Canada and even more internationally. From raving reviews, radio appearances, and magazine features it is clear that they are definitely a band you should check out! The band’s third studio effort “World On Fire” is on its way and leading up to that is the single “Breathe You In”, the band shares their excitement:

“This is the oldest song from this release. The first versions of this song were actually written and recorded in early 2018. It has gone through various stages of development before we settled on the final version. Our fans may be surprised by our new sound and lineup change. We feel it’s a step in the right direction and hope that our fans agree.”

With a large focus placed on their live show, Sovereign Council has played with some of the biggest names in the power and symphonic genres. They try their best to make their audience feel like they are performing for each individual in the crowd. They strive for listeners to be completely immersed in their meticulous storytelling, and contagious music. They want fans to experience the energy of the music and connect with the songs visually and audibly.

Since 2012, Sovereign Council has continued to evolve, their sound is maturing and becoming more accessible, relatable, and marketable. Going from gothic melodic metal to now, more modern metal, they are recommended for fans of Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, and Evergrey.

“Here’s living proof that shows that Female-Fronted Symphonic Rock/Metal isn’t an exclusive domain and does reach beyond the boundaries of the Netherlands and mainland Europe…The Euro Symphonic Rock connection is strengthened with Delain’s Timo Somers pitching in with a trademark solo on the single ‘The Human Condition’, while the album also features Brazilian-based violinist Marina Andrade…An album with a title which offers up the suggestion that, like the galaxy it describes, is vast and with limitless boundaries, ‘Laniakea’ is a collection which is more epic and melodic rather than Symphonic and orchestral. It’s going to be a record which has fans of Nightwish and Delain pricking up their ears as this is something along the same lines yet a little bit different.” – Mike Ainscoe – Rocktopia (Laniakea – 2015)

“There are not many Symphonic Metal bands coming out of Canada at the moment, but Sovereign Council is certainly one band from that country to watch out for! This is a grower and well recommended..8.5/10” – Ravenheart Music (Laniakea – 2015)

“Here is another great work of this great band that will surely please the most demanding heavy metal fans as well as fans of good music in general.” – Cássio Pagliarini – Heavy Metal Brasil (Laniakea – 2015)

“Progressive Symphonic Metal (new Canadian symphonic metal band that has a strong orchestral sound with some wonderful violin and piano along with the beautiful, theatrical vocals of Lisa Thompson contrasted against very harsh male vocals.” – Prog Metal Zone – Prog Metal Zone (Laniakea – 2015)

“There is something hidden within Canada…I think this band will be hot in 2015.” – Odie – Rock Fanatic Rockcast (Laniakea – 2015)

“The CD is well-presented with a simple, but elegant album cover reminiscent of something House Of Lords might do, with a regal-looking logo that visually matches the image of the bands name. The back cover photo and layout messed up my brain. The band put a bit of time and energy into the 10-page booklet with nice photos, (the band look slightly gothic), lyrics and liner notes. It was self-produced and sounds quite good for a homemade recording…. This is a pretty impressive debut. The band has it together with good songwriting, production, performances and presentation. I could see a European label like Napalm or Massacre showing some interest in Sovereign Council, based on the strength of NEW REIGN.” – JP – Metal-Rules.com (New Reign 2013)

EPK – AxMinister – vir fortis (EP) (2023)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

For fans of Megadeth, Manowar, Rush, Iron Maiden, Slayer

“A journey through history, we examine the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and the story (along with the myth) of Vlad the Impaler. The songs are historically accurate, and the lyrics for the 17 minute Napoleon song, are academic; this EP is a history lesson.” – AxMinister

“From the drop of the first note, AxMinister pull their ax from stone, brandishing it mightily and powerfully as they dish out shredding sharpened riff after sharpened riff. Thrown in to the mix are face melting solos as well as ever present charging drumming as well as very solid very infectious vocals. Each of the five tracks present within this release are woven together well to provide you with a cohesive and well rounded sound that you will have a hard time getting out of your head. With The Crucible Of Sin, AxMinister gift you with five highly addictive and highly entertaining tracks that you keep coming back to.” – Cadaver Garden

“this EP (The Crucible of Sin) is just some good ol’ fashioned beer and pretzels Heavy Metal in the vein of bands like Manowar” – Metalcrypt

“The Crucible of Sin is a great thrash/traditional metal album, showing strong influences from Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica to full effect.” – Hellbound

“an exciting piece of Thrash Metal. It has a unique touch to it that allows the EP to be memorable, whilst the guitars make it very enjoyable.” – Noizze UK

“The stair-step cultural guitar to snare combinations for “The Trials of Hercules” brings out the Manowar fan in us all – while the speedy double kick locomotive aspects to closer “Sanctus Equitus Mortis” surely keep the ears pinned for a closer…It’s clear that you have a solid set of musicians and keen songwriting abilities – so if you want something a bit more dramatic and adventurous in your thrash airings, AxMinister could be that difference maker for you.” – Dead Rhetoric

“”The Crucible of Sin” is a lyrically-strong (hard & heavy) power metal recording with strong lead vocals, great guitar solos, a slick rhythm section, and inspired songs that will make you want to wave the banner of true heavy metal for all to see!! This is honest to goodness heavy metal that has been made possible thanks to hard work & dedication of true heavy metal maniacs.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“AxMinister are having fun with these five high octane songs, and if you enjoy NWOBHM then so will you.” – Firebrand’s Rock And Metal Express

“You can tell that AxMinister is a band that is all about fun, especially since one of their songs is titled “Arnold Schwarzenegger” – Metal Master Kingdom

“I don’t know how I’ve never come across these guys before; they played some great traditional Heavy Metal about history and had a killer stage show to boot, with frontman Nicholas Klaus looking like an executioner and their drummer constantly changing hats/helmets/masks throughout the set.” – Five Magics Music

“[AxMinister’s] gritty pounding thrash originals should also make lots of fans on the Fourth of July, so keep them in mind!” – Sault Metal Scene

=======================================================

EP as a whole:
A journey through history, we examine the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the story (along with the myth) of Vlad the Impaler.

Track By Track:

The Age of Napoleon…The Rise, is act one of a 3 part saga, inspired by the rise and fall of the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. It is just over 17 minutes long, starts at his birth in Corsica, and ends with the French revolution, and young Napoleon as Captain.

The following two songs are about Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula); two historic looks, through a supernatural lens.

=======================================================

Func Facts – Story Angles:

1. The artwork for the album are oil paintings by our drummer Bas. Bas is sort of obsessed with Napoleon Bonaparte, and there at least 2 more songs about the French Emperor to be released in the coming years. The Napoleon song has been in the works for over 5 years.

2. Nicholas Klaus had to learn the accordion for ‘The Age of Napoleon…the Rise’; fortunately, being of Eastern European heritage, it came naturally to him! The melody that appears at the end of the Napoleon song, on the accordion, as well as the guitar outro, are one of the melodies for part 2 of AxMinister’s Napoleon saga, to be released in the coming years.

3. The two Vlad songs were always meant as two parts, and the band still refers to them as Vlad 1&2. The original Vlad 1 got scrapped, with only the main melody carrying over to Vlad the Impaler…Son of the Dragon.

Hailing from the frozen tundra of Ontario, AxMinister are the heroes of metal the world needs!

Initially formed back in the forgotten mists of metallic history (1999); the power-trio AxMinister looked upon how po-faced metal had become; and yay, and verily, did they pull their mighty Ax from its anvil where it had rested, Excalibur-like, until it was needed; and set out to put the metal world to rights…that is as it should be! They are here to minister the metal, and they have their mighty Ax; their symbol of salvation to guide them.

In magic and metal myth, names have power, and none more so than AxMinister, as splendidly-named drummer Bas Von Bismark explains. “We play warriors of metal on a holy quest. Our preferred weapon is the Ax. It’s also a street name where we partook in libations as teenagers.”

Inspired by Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Manowar, Bas describes AxMinister’s sound as “sped up Type O Negative.”

Bas is stoked for fans to hear AxMinister’s new music, their fifth studio release, the 2023 EP “vir fortis” follows 2018’s “The Crucible of Sin”.

“This new EP is a journey through history, we examine the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and the story (along with the myth) of Vlad the Impaler. The songs are historically accurate, and the lyrics for the 17-minute Napoleon song, are academic; this EP is a history lesson.”

Live, AxMinister really wields their weapons of choice to great effect. “We put on a show, as we play medieval characters on stage. Sometimes we make a human sacrifice as our guitarist solos, other times we chant and pour blood on ourselves. We try to be theatrical and our stage show is constantly evolving.”

“vir fortis” is due out May 11, 2023 and available for pre-order on Bandcamp here.
