About:

Upon being assembled in 2003 by founding members Martin Samson and Stef Jomphe in Gatineau, Insurrection has been growing, modulating and mutating into a machine of an aural onslaught. Assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English, Insurrection has blended its calculated technicality to create a signature mixture of merciless death metal that has emerged from the prominent Canadian scene.

Shortly after their 2009 debut release ‘Prologue’, giving true life to their monstrosity, the formation launched their second release 2010’s Fracture’, a dark prophecy of unforgivable times and a brutal soundtrack to the fall of man. It pushed the limits with every outing, creating Insurrection to become more than the sum of its parts, but a merciless abomination.

Now the band is gearing up for their follow up ‘Prototype’ to push yet another brutal assault and tour cities across Canada to convert the unwitting to their legion.

About:

There’s something to be said for fate in the music world. One moment you’re left with the skeleton of a band, unsure when you’ll be able to follow your calling again, the next you’ve got a whole new line-up, a brand new home, a stronger, more defined sound and are recording with some of the biggest names in the industry. This is the tale of The Rabid Whole.

Disenchanted with playing in bands whose music was unchallenging and run of the mill, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Andreas Weiss set out to remedy his predicament. Purchasing an arsenal of music and noise-making gadgets, he began writing songs for his own band’s 2009 debut album, Autramaton.

Recruiting musicians along the way, the first incarnation of The Rabid Whole was solidified, releasing their first album and touring Canada, sharing the stage with the likes of The Birthday Massacre, Econoline Crush, Hinder, Apoptygma Berzerk, and 16Volt.

But that’s when things began to take a turn. Following the departure of several band members, Weiss decided to leave his hometown of Regina, SK behind, taking a leap of faith and moving to Toronto, ON along with guitarist and founding member George Radutu.

Through some lucky online ads, he discovered drummer JJ Tartaglia and bass guitarist Oscar Anesetti while a Christmas trip back home to Regina put him face-to-face with Chalsey Noelle, a friend of a friend looking for a new career path after quitting her job. Wouldn’t you know it – Noelle was a talented keyboardist and vocalist.

Now, the new and improved Rabid Whole is set to release their second album, Refuge, on May 1, 2012. A direct reflection of the emotional and external changes of Weiss’ journey, the album deals with relatable themes.

“I sold my house, quit my engineering consultant job and moved…We were starting from square one again, but with more uncertainties than ever and weren’t sure when we would even have a full band again. Part of the writing had begun randomly scattered over the past couple of years, but the majority came right after the move. I set up the studio in the basement of my house and got to work. I didn’t leave the house for two months and wrote from the moment I’d wake up until I’d fall asleep,” says Weiss.

Recorded and produced by Karl Schubach (Misery Signals, Solace), mixed by Dave Ogilvie (Jakalope, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) and mastered by Noah Mintz (Broken Social Scene, Death From Above 1979), the finished product delivers rock and electronic elements pushed to the max, a male and female vocal showdown and, as Weiss puts it, showcases “a 21st century, high-energy, electro alternative, orgasmic-punch-in-the-face-rock band.”

Isn’t it time you fell down the rabid whole?

0 MADE IN IRON Announce Montreal & Quebec City Iron Maiden Tribute Shows ‘Live After Death’ Like No Other Tribute In North America

MADE IN IRON Announce Montreal & Quebec City Iron Maiden Tribute Shows ‘Live After Death’ Like No Other Tribute In North America

“MADE IN IRON: Present Live After Death: The Iron Maiden Experience 1984”

MADE IN IRON (formerly known as Power Slaves) are proud to announce they will be returning to Montreal on May 4th at L’Olympia and May 25th in Quebec City at Théâtre Capitole with its renowned Iron Maiden tribute show that showcases an experience like no other homage in North America. Experience 1984 Iron Maiden once again!

Having first performed in Montreal in 2009 at the Medley in full band character as Iron Maiden. MADE IN IRON demonstrated a four floor Egyptian stage setup, along with a twelve foot walking Eddie (a smaller version of Iron Maiden’s best known mascot).

Then in 2010, they added to their success in Quebec City at Théâtre Capitole by enlarging their stage to the exact size that IRON MAIDEN had in 1984 along with a lighting show based on Live After Death and again an appearance of an Iron Maiden replica of Big Eddie standing twenty five feet tall.

Then in 2012, MADE IN IRON returned to Quebec City due to high demand to bring forth another stellar experience with drummer Maxime Beauséjour as Nicko McBrain with Iron Maiden’s 1984 live drum setup.

Now in 2013, MADE IN IRON has big plans as they perform their largest tribute experience to date. The stage will move like maiden, sound like maiden and feel like maiden! With plans to be identical to Iron Maiden’s 84/85 World Slavery Tour when the metal titans recorded their 1985 Live After Death live album.

“This is the first time we will be in Montreal with ALL the setup. Phase I of the project was launched at Le Medley in Montreal. Then Phase II was launched at Le Capitole de Québec. No one in Montreal saw our 25 feet tall Eddie, the new stage that is now twice bigger than what it was at Le Medley, and all the changes in the show like the new costumes and staging. It is also our first time at L’Olympia. We just can’t wait to May 4th!” comments MADE IN IRON’s Pierre-Etienne Drolet.

About:

Made In Iron founder Pierre-Etienne Drolet discovered Iron Maiden and their influential Live After Death when he was first 14. It was from listening to that album that Drolet turned Iron Maiden into his personal religion, listening non-stop to every musical endeavour they have created. As he grew older and strongly familiar with Iron Maiden and their tours. He had his epiphany of creating a tribute band for his most beloved idols and rebuilding the World Slavery Tour stage. It wasn’t an overnight success, but it has been a project that has been building over the years as Drolet has gathered many resources such as musicians, artists, behind the scenes crew and business endorsements to make his dream come true. Live After Death 1984 returns with full stage setup, costumes, songs, and Eddie for the best Iron Maiden tribute experience on the planet.

Calgary, AB alternative blues/ rock musician Matt Blais whom is in the midst of his cross Canada tour in promotion of his new album ‘The Heartbeat’ released in February, has posted a behind the scenes tour video at the following link below.

Matt Blais comments:

“I love life on the road. I’m really looking forward to just getting in the van, meeting new people and seeing new things. I’ve got a great group of guys in the band who are fun to play with on stage and party with after. So I know that we, and all the audiences are gonna have a blast. Canada is such a huge country. I never realized that until planning a tour from one end to the other, so, this is a huge undertaking for any band. But, I’ve always believed in the hard work, grass roots, live music approach to building a fan base, so, I’m really excited.”

Matt Blais – Playin in a Travellin Band

With his first single ‘Running’ hitting the airwaves and iPods across Canada, Matt is gaining comparisons to artists such as Sam Roberts, Matt Mays and Joel Plaskett. A cutting edge artist, his latest release ‘The Heartbeat’ combines elements of fiery rock and roll with smooth vintage soul to form a sound so uniquely his own that one can’t help but become emotionally charged. The combination of a high energy live show and a passion for song writing is Blais’ formula for success, which thus far has been very well received by critics and the audiences that continue to grow in number.
