Rend
BIO:
Rend is an Edmonton based, 5 piece, electrifying Rock/Pop band. Picture a dash of Metric, a scoop of Coldplay, a layer of Paramore topped off with The Cranberries. When you listen to Rend you get a new experience with every song. They are a Canadian band inspired to inspire. You will hear driving rhythms, Zeppelin worthy guitar solos, synth pop hook lines, and dynamic, soulful vocals. Supported by Rawlco Radio through the 10K20 project, Rend released their debut album “No Lines” on February 25th, 2012 and are set to release their follow up EP ‘Battlecry’ in March 2013.
Founded in 2010 by lead singer/songwriter Carol-Lynne Quinn, these past 2 years have been an incredible journey. 2012 was a whirlwind of activity, including a week of performances in Toronto at classic venues like Cherry Cola’s, The Hideout, and the Bovine Sex Club for Indie Music Week Canada, and opening for Faber Drive on the Edmonton installment of the Lost in Paradise
tour.
Their vision is to bring musical and lyrical substance to their music. Whether it’s the anthem like chorus in “Battlecry” or the unique blend of soulful vocals and electric guitar in “Monster”, Rend is fresh, energy filled, and inspiring. Their debut single “Hide” was released to radio in March 2012 and received Canadian wide radio play climbing the top 100 Rock Charts.
2013 will be an exciting year for Rend, with the upcoming release of a brand new music video for Battlecry, which will also be released to radio in February. For such a fresh band they have already caught the attention and support of many. Sandra Sperounes from the Edmonton Journal commented “together, the five make up (or perhaps unrend) Rend, one of Edmonton’s newest – and fiercest – pop-rock bands. “Quinn” might just be the next great voice to come out of Canada.” Kevin Mainmann from the Edmonton Examiner commented on their debut “No Lines is drenched in powerful melodies anchored by Carol-Lynne’s vocal acrobatics, with hints of soul weaving into potent radio-rock hooks.” To put it simply Rend is five passionate people who love music, people, and putting on a great show.

About: Cranked. Heavy. Melodic. These are just some of the words that have been used to describe Toronto’s Breached.
The band’s story begins in late 2010 when four men met in an undisclosed hospital delivery room. No one will ever know what transpired that day other than that it inspired something big, something that could only be expressed through music.
Creating an alluring blend of melodious, metal-tinged rock ‘n roll, it didn’t take long for Breached to start winning over fans with their live shows and five-song EP. The band’s tight harmonies and nail-hitting screams combined with overdriven guitars, intricate tempos and powerful lyrics provide a unique blend that audiences can’t seem to get enough of.
“We feel that there is a lot of music out there that fails at one major thing – triggering emotions,” says vocalist Bobby Noakes. “We want people to connect with our music not only because it has a great sound, but because of the lyrical content and emotion we put into the songs.”
Back in the studio to record their second EP, which is scheduled for a summer release, Breached have recently put together an acoustic EP to hold their fans over till then.
