Decibel Magazine Posts Metal MBA w/ Canadian Thrashers FATALITY: Tips For Successful Crowd Funding

Toronto’s favorite thrash party monsters Fatality recently wrapped up their two-month North American “Towards Disastour” in support of their latest album, ‘Psychonaut’, but before they hit the road and released the album, the band put together a crowd funding campaign to help them achieve the release and the tour. About: Toronto, Canada’s high-energy, modern thrash monsters Fatality have been cranking out wise-cracking, beer-drenched nightmares together since 2003. Known for their wild, riotous live performances and their peerless work ethic, they have been independently booking and promoting their own shows, creating great merch, touring North America, and making some great tunes along the way. Few bands embody the DIY spirit as fully as Fatality consistently do, and no other bands have as much fun working their asses off.

Fatality’s debut effort, Beers From The Grave, was an irreverent, horror-themed album that eschewed seriousness in favour of hard living and good times. Decibel Magazine quipped that, on Beers From The Grave, “solos fly with reckless abandon, the bass is audible and practically so are the beers being cracked open. These guys must have awesome parties.” Hellbound.ca stated that Fatality are “a bundle of crass, explosive, obnoxiously positive energy spewing beer and shrapnel.” Part homage to classic zombie apocalypse horror and part retro-thrash ruckus, Beers From The Grave was an exciting, riotously messy debut.

After supporting Beers From The Grave with East coast Canadian tours, and being invited to share the stage with the likes of Exodus, Municipal Waste, Holy Grail and Razor, the thrash rockers went back to the studio and emerged with still more new material. Three rough-and-tumble, irresistibly catchy singles — “T.F.E.S.”, “Uppercut” and “Hammerfist” — were bundled together as a free EP. While most bands would have simply released a free record and called it a day, Fatality supported their singles with North American tours, winning hearts, destroying livers and splitting eardrums along the way. After those adventures, Fatality went into a period of hiatus. They emerged from this creative cocoon and re-instated their original drummer, Mason LeVon (brother to guitarist and vocalist Spencer LeVon, who replaced longtime friend and skinsman Andrew Suarez), and new musical vision. In early 2012, the band began writing a brand-new full-length, ‘Psychonaut’, unquestionably their most ambitious project to date.

Inspired by life and charged with fast and heavy grooves, screaming solos and powerful vocals, Montreal, QC’s Trainwreck Architect will bring you back to the roots of metal with a few surprises along the way. Gearing up to unleash their debut album ‘Traits of The Sick’ officially on November 12, 2013. The self described “wreck n’ roll” band have put together a ten track head banging party featuring an eclectic mix of thrash, classic metal and rock dealing with the idea of humans being human and never willing to be completely satisfied.

”Our first album has all the traits of a sick album!!! We are really proud to release it! We had a good time in studio recording gang vocals with friends. From a guitarist’s point of view, hearing how Jeff Waters would perform a solo over one of our track was a really inspiring experience! Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, the Edmonton-based band are known to devastate their audiences with their high octane performances that has lead them to share the stage over the years with high profile names such as Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, The Haunted, and Aborted (to name a few). Their sophomore release ‘Infection Legacy’ is the follow up to their 2010 debut album ‘Defecation Suffocation’ and 2008 EP ‘Spontaneous Decapitation’.

Originally formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, AB, Canada, Death Toll Rising have been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily, gaining huge momentum over the last 3 years. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse INTO ETERNITY), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable on their upcoming album ‘Legacy Infection’.

Locked and reloaded, the band has finalized their third EP ‘Left Behind’, which will be released on October 22nd with their title track and single hitting radio across Canada plus being available on iTunes.

In celebration of the release, the rockers will be holding a launch show for ‘Left Behind’ during Indie Week Canada in Toronto at The Rivoli on October 19th with local support from Joy Arson and guests.

Creating an alluring blend of melodious, metal-tinged rock ‘n roll, it didn’t take long for Breached to start winning over fans with their live shows and five-song self-titled EP.
