About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music that Chimaira, Machine Head, and Hatebreed would be proud of, and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With three full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title,” “Sandwich,” and their holiday album, “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” – the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.

After a successful 2013 that saw these touring ninja warriors hit the road for multiple shows on the ‘Our Tour Can Beat Up Your Tour’, ‘Blow Your Fingers Off’ summer tour, their late summer dates with American Head Charge plus appearances at summer fests that included Rockapalooza, A2 Fest, Breast Fest Biker Bash, and Dirtfest.  The band finally took a break in last months of the year and held a successful crowd funding campaign (thank you video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSeQHqMCfJI), where they are now currently in studio recording their follow up to 2011’s ‘Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs’.

BornBroken Announce Limited Edition Hockey Jersey; Make Donation On Behalf of Rock The Cause Charity Concert To Montreal Children’s Hospital

Performing at the third annual benefit show Rock The Cause last December in Montreal, QC. Groove metal band BornBroken is proud to announce with Rock The Cause that just under 3,000 dollars was raised for The Montreal Children’s Hospital. The band was joined by Melting Point, One Night Stand, Monkey Bones and Your What’s Itchy. The picture below is of BornBroken guitarist Mike Decker (far left) making the donation with Peter Chritchlow of Melting Point, Patrick Birnie of Monkey Bones, Daniel Haque from Rock The Cause staff, Rock The Cause event organizer Steve Hart with Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation Rep Tatiana.

BornBroken guitarist Mike Decker comments:

“I’ve been involved with Rock The Cause for the past three years doing designing and marketing for the event. When my band BornBroken was asked to play the 2013 event, myself and the band we’re excited and also humbled. Music is used for many reasons, to soothe the soul of the savage beast or to heal the hearts of many.  Rock The Cause chose to take a usual gig night and turn it into an event where we give back to the community.  We hope to be involved in many more of these over the next couple years and you can still donate to the foundation in the name of rock the cause/BornBroken.”

In additional news, the band has created a limited edition BornBroken hockey jersey just in time for Olympic Hockey, and being Canadian and all… the band is wishing good luck to Team Canada (both womens and mens) to bring home the GOLD!!!

“Keeping up with going for things just a little bit out of the ordinary, BornBroken have decided to put out a hockey jersey just in time for Canada to go for the gold at the Olympics in Sochi. If any of you are interested, you could go hit us up at http://bornbroken.bandcamp.com/merch and check out the merch section. What goes better with a hard-hitting sport in the frozen tundra but a little bit of BornBroken on your chest. Seeing as the jersey is a little pricey, we decided that from a little good faith on your part, the band will donate a percentage of the sale in your name to Rock The Cause.’ comments guitarist Mike Decker.

To purchase your limited edition jersey, please visit the following link: http://bornbroken.bandcamp.com/merch/b-symbol-hockey-jersey

‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ is now streaming at the following link: http://soundcloud.com/bornbrokenmusic/sets/thehealingpowersofhate

BornBroken‘s debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ was released in June 2013. The album was fan voted as Album of The Week (June 10th) on Revolver Magazine, along with debuting #8 on Canadian College Loud Charts, plus being named one of the best unsigned Heavy Metal Bands for June by Drago’s Dungeon on About.com – Heavy Metal. They have also received great admiration from Yell Magazine! quoting ‘This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.’ and TheFrontRowReport.com quoting ‘BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken.’.

About:

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.

On their debut album, The Healing Powers of Hate, BornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.

The band released their sophomore album ‘Horizon’ in August 2013, building on their previous success with their self-titled debut released in early 2011. Mixing the sound of modern metal and classic rock, brothers Luke and Deke Worrell, with Adam MacLeod and Steve White have created a sound appealing to both young and old alike.

Now in 2014, Until Dawn are setting new plans to tour and bring their music to larger audiences in Canada and around the world, having already performed at past festivals in Alberta and sharing the stage with such as acts as rock legends KISS, Volbeat, Billy Talent, A Day To Remember, Hell Yeah, 3 Inches of Blood, Striker, All Else Fails and Fozzy.

Calgary’s EVERY HOUR KILLS Streaming New Single ‘Chosen’ Produced by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Emmure, Of Mice & Men)

L-R: Brent Stutsky – Bass | Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster – Vocals | Sacha Laskow – Guitar and Programming | Rob Shawcross – Drums (Photo Credit: Sarah Kitteringham)

There’s a new sound exploding out of Calgary, AB’s rising metal scene, Every Hour Kills is the new modern melodic metal band featuring ex-Divinity guitarist Sacha Laskow, bassist Brent Stutsky (Breach of Trust), drummer Rob Shawcross (ex- Out Of Your Mouth) along with vocalist Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster (Walk As Chaos, Out of Your Mouth, Autobody).

Over the last two years, the band has been busy in the lab working on recording new songs to be unleashed to the masses. Last year saw their first single ‘Deliver Us’ exposed to the world and set the path for their next knock out force ‘Chosen’ produced by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Emmure, Of Mice & Men, We Can As Romans).

“It was an awesome experience working with an outside producer this time, especially one as talented as Joey. Usually we’ve done everything ourselves, so it was really interesting getting an outside perspective from someone we respect. We are all beyond stoked with the results; Joey definitely added some of his magic to our vision and took the song up to a higher level. Lyrically the song is basically about rising up in the face of adversity, struggling to make our goals and dreams a reality amidst the chaos of the world and other people trying to drag us down. We are all ‘Chosen’ for something, to take our own path and create our own lives.” comments guitarist Sacha Laskow.
