With their Western Canadian tour dates with Katakylsm and Aborted during the ‘Kill The Elite Tour’ inching near, Edmonton, AB’s Death Toll Rising has posted a new guitar playthrough for their track ‘Slaughter To Survive’ from their latest album ‘Infection Legacy’ to follow last week’s playthrough for ‘Crack Open A Cold One’.

“This is the second of the two guitar videos we have put together.  A song largely from the proggy mind of Tylor, it has some of more complex guitar work off of our album.  The breakdown at 3:00 is crushing, too!” comments guitarist Drew Copland.

Villainizer “Twin Tower Two-Step”

Nominees List: http://2014edmontonmusicawards.blogspot.ca/2014/02/and-nominees-are.html

About: Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, the Edmonton-based band are known to devastate their audiences with their high octane performances that has lead them to share the stage over the years with high profile names such as Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, The Haunted, and Aborted (to name a few).

Originally formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, AB, Canada, Death Toll Rising have been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily, gaining huge momentum over the last 3 years. New addition Tylor Dory on guitars has introduced a technical and progressive element to the band they have not had in the past. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse INTO ETERNITY), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable on their new album ‘Infection Legacy’.

Full album stream of ‘Infection Legacy’ can be listened on Beatroute Magazine here or Soundcloud here along with being purchased on Bandcamp here.

THE GREAT RUSSIAN EMPIRE/WHITE ARMY Premiere New Song ‘Pig’s Blood’ On PureGrainAudio.com

When you first hear the name The Great Russian Empire/ White Army, the first thought that comes to mind is the current political situation between Russia and Ukraine. But this Montreal, QC side project featuring a double bass approach from bassist Benny Boy Floyd (The Lonely Sidewalkers/Coco Méliès/ex-Fallstaf) and bassist Nicolas Miquelon (ex-Kintra/Damnus/Anesthetik) began invading the audible minds of fans way before that conflict.

Born in 2010, when the two bassists were looking to start something new, fresh and different, the four string players decided to combine their bass powers to create an instrumental project called The Great Russian Empire, which was then followed by vocalist Catherine Sauvé of The Lonely Sidewalkers, guitarist David Méliès of Coco Méliès and the brass metal sounds of Fallstaf members frontman Ian Lavoie and drummer Matt Lassonde to add The White Army.

Now with their latest track ‘Pig’s Blood’ influenced by friends and family members who fought cancer and based on a Quebec expression ‘se faire du sang de cochon’, which means ‘to worry a lot about someone, something.’ The empire is proud to premiere their new single on PureGrainAudio.com at the following link: http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/the-great-russian-empire-white-army-pig-s-blood-world-premiere-song-stream

TGRE will continue in the studio with more creations to add to their forthcoming EP ‘The Bloody Three & One For The Road’.

MIRE officially released their new album ‘Inward/Outward’ on March 18th to follow up their 2010 self titled EP. Two year’s in the making, the album is based on the band’s personal experiences ranging from the study of cognitive science to a military stint in Afghanistan. The album’s 10 tracks marry a sonic wall of loud heavy yet strong melodic progressive rock metal that is winning fans and media over with comparisons of being named heirs to the Tool and a perfect band for fans of Karnivool, A Perfect Circle, Dead Letter Circus, Deftones and ISIS(media reviews below).

Vocalist JP LaChapelle comments on the release:

“Interpreted through our fingers, tongued and toe tips, this album which we’ve been working on for 2 years at totally different points in our lives, demonstrates the fan of emotions of 5 individuals’ experience. The craft is the loom into which our soil-tending, sun-vising and pest-warding efforts bear fruit. Love for the fate of man and the anger to defend it. Overwhelmed with a sense of innate creativity, we all curb our nature to the structures put in place for our short lives; whether building an enterprise, community or institution of any kind. MIRE’s decided to make music. Filtered as pure as possible, our passion rendered this product. Our maiden album expresses the plight of an impeached animal nature, faced with the philosophy of man’s fate run through questionable funnels. Throughout our creative process, we’ve experienced different stages and shed skins. The 5 colors we shine combine through the prism of ‘Inward Outward’ to produce the first of MIRE’s own hues. Being able to walk one’s own path is its own reward and we five musicians feel incredibly fortunate to have seized the chance to create this album. That’s what we celebrate every time we hear it. SHARE”

The album is now available as PAY WHAT YOU WANT on the band’s bandcamp here and iTunes.

Music Video – ‘Limitless Pt. 2’ – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQnqLxFv5oM

mire - "limitless(pt2)" [official hd]

“…newcomers Mire should be considered the heirs to the Tool throne with their latest record, Inward Outward is about as close to Tool as you can get without being Tool. Musically and sonically, Mire are spot-on with the psychedelic metal we’ve all become so accustomed to and you’re guaranteed to zone out listening to the record.” – The Front Row Report

“With Inward:Outward, MIRE has formed a soundscape that flows between mellow moods and mental turbulence, using the whole spectrum of sound as its playground. It is emotional, striking, and addictively wonderful. You would be doing yourself a disservice not to, at the very least, download the free tracks offered by this promising young group.” – Barry Adkins – Target Audience Magazine

“If you’re a fan of Tool, Karnivool, A Perfect Circle, Dead Letter Circus, and similar sounding bands, then you should be pointing your ears towards Montreal, QC band Mire” – Bloody Disgusting

“While the world waits for the forthcoming Tool album (and we’ve been waiting a LONG time), everyone should do themselves a favor and grab a copy of Inward/Outward. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.” – Sea of Tranquility

“…a sophisticated style with fundamental guitars and classy quality vocals.” – Metal Temple

“This is an album of incredibly impressive music that is both haunting and uplifting in equal measure.  The soaring audio landscapes are multi-layered, and the experience of listening to this album is a real emotional journey.  It perfectly combines aggressive chunky guitars, melodic piano, and moments of all out angst and aggression. This is an album of hypnotizing prog-metal that just gets better with each and every listen.  If you’re a fan of progressive rock / metal, this is highly recommended! Score: 9.0 out of 10″ – All About The Rock

“Fans of bands like Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones and Porcupine Tree should feel right at home listening to this quintet out of Montreal QC…I think MIRE is a band to keep your eyes and ears on, and I look forward to seeing their territory grow.” – Rock Revolt Magazine

“I adore this album and have now had it on three times and heard new bits that make me go ‘Ahhh!’ in satisfaction each time. Definitely one to buy, and definitely a band to watch out for.” – Wyrd Ways Rock Show Review
