Winnipeg, MB death metal band Psychotic Gardening is creeping closer to the release date of their new album ‘Hymnosis’ out on Tuesday, May 13th. Teaming up with Bloody-Disgusting.com, the band is exclusively streaming the album at the following link.

Guitarist Andrew Wiens comments on the album:
“What we do is instinctual. We write for ourselves, to appease our own desire for music and art, it’s what motivates us. We rely on our own instincts and trust that what works for us will work for our fans. We believe in dynamics, that the juxtaposition of our faster songs with our slower songs lends power to our music. I’d like to think that HYMNOSIS takes you on a musical journey, through peaks and valleys – metaphorical musical textures – so that at the end of the day, you’re affected by this as a collective work.”
The band returns in 2014 with new material and the return of Chuck Labossiere after he filled in with Broken Hope for tour dates in Europe and Canada. The album is the follow up to 2011’s ‘Humanitorium’ and 2007’s debut ‘Hürdür’ and features nine heavy hitting assaults sure to bang skulls with itsfull-throttle, go-for-the-throat execution of doom and black metal. In this release the band digs into its death metal roots for a concoction of their most vicious material while still hammering down on doom-laden monster riffs.

Wacken Metal Battle Canada Announce Edmonton Semi-Final Winners; One Band to Rule Them All!
Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce Edmonton semi-final winners Death Toll Rising and Eye of Horus. Both bands will move on to the Alberta final in Calgary on Friday, May 23 at Dicken’s Pub (1000 9 Ave SW.) and will be joined by that city’s two semi finalists. One band from the Alberta final will then move on to the national final in Toronto on Saturday, June 7 at Opera House (735 Queen St E.) where they will join bands from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal for one to be chosen to perform at the international Wacken Metal Battle during Wacken Open Air 2014 taking place from July 31- Aug 2. One Band To Rule Them All!

About: Over 100 independent Canadian metal bands have been selected to participate in this year’s Wacken Metal Battle Canada line up in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The bands will compete during the months of March, April and May in 22 qualifying rounds, 6 semi-finals, and an Alberta final along with the national final being held on June 7th in Toronto, ON at Opera House.
One band will be chosen to represent the nation with highest honour at this year’s 2014 international battle at the world’s most prestigious metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany.
The finals will have the following representation and will be judged along with all other rounds by a panel of music industry representatives.
1 finalist from Vancouver, BC
1 finalist from Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton will face off in Alberta final)
2 finalists from Toronto, ON
1 finalist from Montreal, QC
Last year’s battle was witnessed to Toronto, ON’s epic power/death metal band Crimson Shadows not only winning the 2013 Canadian final but conquering the international final and performing in front of thousands unknown to their behemoth sound. (Video of that champion set can be viewed here.) The band joined a list of Canadian heavyweights such as Voivod, Exciter, Razor, Annihilator, Anvil, Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, 3 Inches of Bloods, Despised Icon and Danko Jones who have performed at the festival in years past.
Submissions were open from December 5, 2013 to January 31, 2014.
