Gearing up for a debut full-length in 2024 via Exitus Stratagem Records, VORAATH unleashes brutal horror-inspired extreme metal. Earlier this year they revealed their new vocalist Chelsea Marrow (Visitant, The Monster Factory – Death Metal Choir for the video game DOOM Eternal with the reenvisioned, remixed, and remastered version of the single and music video “Siren Head” (https://youtu.be/X0x6xRSWXeo) along with the addition of guest melodic vocals from Taylor Presnell.

Today, the band embarks on telling their next horror tale with “Judas Blood and Vultures”, the first from a series of music videos they will be offering in the coming months in support of their forthcoming album.

“We are excited to kick off our official series of music videos that encapsulate the lore of the music. We want to integrate many visual elements, from action to horror to science fantasy; this song highlights the pace of the album. The title of the song, Judas Blood and Vultures is a story of betrayal told through the lens of an action-horror. We want the audience to feel as if they are watching a first-person video game, blending our style of metal with our enthusiasm for 80’s sci-fi/horror and video games. We are excited to be working with Exitus Stratagem Records in bringing to life our musical vision. We are aiming to bring more than just metal but an entire experience, an auditory odyssey while still keeping our roots in blackened symphonic death metal.” adds Voraath band founder and drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward.

Ward co-wrote the storyline for “Judas Blood and Vultures” along with directing its video with the combined efforts of the band’s team at Eldersverse Studio.

The story of “Judas Blood and Vultures” takes place in the year 2193 – Mission: 3116 The Red Village incident: The Valewalkers are contacted by an old friend, Tobias to investigate a series of strange disappearances in a neighboring village. It is believed that a vile creature from beyond the Nexus Rift, known by the locals as Lumia is responsible for the missing villagers, among them, Tobias’ new bride and infant child. As the hunters and their forlorn guide begin their pursuit of the creature and its cultist minions, they soon discover that not all is as it seems in the ruins of the red village.

Featuring members from Xael, Rapheumets Well, Implosive Disgorgence, Sweet Blood, Visitant, and The Monster Factory – Death Metal Choir for the video game DOOM Eternal), VORAATH is an otherworldly and experimental death metal band that brings together emotional yet brutal music and science fantasy appealing to both metal enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the lore of the music. The band’s origin began with an idea to merge extreme metal with storytelling by band founder and drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward (Xael).

“I wanted to create more than just another metal band but an intricate brand with lore to explore alongside the music. We are creating a metal multiverse,” adds Ward.

Integrating science fantasy, soundscapes, and metal, VORAATH looks forward to tantalizing audiences and leaving them anticipating their forthcoming debut album in 2024.

As they tour across the American midwest, they promise an onslaught of theatrics, bringing their stories of the music to life. Atmospheric and driving, the medley of blast beats, chugging bass, and heavily distorted solos will be both intense and immersive.

“Our stage wear is directly from the lore. Each one of us is a character in the lore of our music. Tactical dystopian armor, Alien-like helmets with red glowing lights, we try to represent the vibe we are writing about.” says Ward.

Voraath is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Cattle Decapitation, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

“Crushing Sci-Fi Death Metal” – Metal Injection

“The music (The Barrens) reaches new heights of fire-storming intensity, burning with feverish desperation, and then suddenly shifts into a classically influenced acoustic guitar and bass instrumental that’s sublime. That proves to be a segue into yet another phase of the musical narrative, one that’s glorious. The drums continue their blistering assault, but the music soars on the wings of solos of riveting splendor, heroic singing that goes sky-high, and the vast sweep of cinematic synths, which collectively end the track in a panoramic finale of stunning magnificence.” – No Clean Singing

“they are a band who’ve combined their musical and visual sides into a silver screen-worthy, sci-fi based, death metal odyssey centered around alien contact, the devastation and degradation of the environment and humanity, rule by corporate overlords and henchmen, Primitivism vs. Futurism and, of course, lots of blood, guts and killing.”- Decibel Mag

DEGENERATOR (ft. members All Else Fails, ex-Striker) Continues Its Fusion Experiment With “Neurotonic”

L-R – Jonathan Webster – Drums, Barrett Klesko – Vocals, Guitar, Bass

Degenerator is an aggressive musical powerhouse based in Edmonton, Alberta, that combines the genres of post-grunge, stoner rock, and doom into a captivating and relentless fusion. Comprised of two musicians, Barrett Klesko and Jonathan Webster who have already garnered intonation musical acclaim they are demonstrating their musical prowess in their debut album “The Abyssal Throne”. The second single “Neurotonic” takes heavy music fans deep into a unique and intriguing soundscape full of fresh energy and innovation. Klesko comments:

“Loss haunts our hearts. We must cherish our loved ones. Before they are gone. I always strive for stirring emotion, while revealing a glimpse of a mystical hidden depth. This music came from investigations of my connection with both the material and ethereal worlds, and I hope this ignites a similar reflection in others.”

The album takes listeners on a rollercoaster of emotions, navigating intricate and progressive time signatures, and balancing thunderous, distorted riffs with intricate melodies that seamlessly intertwine. =========================================================

About The Album Artwork:

The album artwork is an original piece inspired by Ezekiel 1. Instead of a vision of God’s glory, the image represents God’s judgment. Misanthropic Art was commissioned.

About The Album (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

ALBUM DESCRIPTION

Blackened death metal entity Pessimystic revealed their debut album Burnt Offering; an apotropaic oblation of self-surrender through self-destruction and unity through detachment. Conceptually, Burnt Offering contemplates divine retribution and conjures the apocalyptic imagery enshrined in the human psyche.

Burnt Offering comprises five songs of avant-garde extreme music, for a total length of just under half an hour. Under its dense and dissonant shroud, it combines the wrath and fury of death metal with the intensity and melodic echoes of black metal. The album was recorded and produced by Topon Das at Apt 2 Recording (Fuck the Facts, Deformatory, Eclipser), capturing deep textures and a natural, organic energy. With its meshed layers of intricate technical details, Burnt Offering showcases both performance and dedication Pessimystic has to offer.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

I. Conquer the Pantheon

The opening track, “Conquer the Pantheon”, was chosen to initiate Pessimystic’s debut record, “Burnt Offering”, due to its momentous energy. It begins with a rolling and thunderous beat, accompanied by an arpeggiated guitar section, creating a primitive and rhythmic atmosphere. This builds towards an aggressive, yet melodic barrage of tremolo chord progressions and blast beats. The song has a direct structure, allowing the listener to become acquainted with the sonic landscape of the record. The lyrics and vocal delivery appropriately correspond to the primitive vibe of the instrumentation, presenting the concept that permeates the entire album; our ancient relationship to the divine. The deity is revealed as a storm theophany, responsible for our fertility and protection, and the song chronicles its evolution into the transcendent creator of the universe. “Conquer the Pantheon” serves its purpose of generating poetic and symbolic imagery of monotheism’s despotic origins.

II. Visions
The second track, “Visions”, is an apocalyptic revelation of divine retribution. It draws inspiration from the horrific events depicted in the bible, predicted by the prophets. Its narration seeks out angelic mediation for the comprehension of these unfathomable, calamitous atrocities. “Visions” is the most resonant and melodic song on the record, from a vocal standpoint. It has a purposefully straightforward composition, yet it is laden with detailed and immersive musical passages.

III. Burnt Offering
The title track, “Burnt Offering”, is the culmination of Pessimystic’s resolve and lyrical theology represented on this album. “Burnt Offering” is about sacrifice through immolation of the self and absorption into absolute unity with God. Instrumentally, this track showcases the diversity of the band’s sound; weaving tense, bewildering dissonance into ominous psychedelia, and finishing with cathartic release. This moment in the record marks the plummeting descent into lunacy, far from the uplifting elements of the first two tracks, and the last trace of melodic respite before what is to come.

IV. Crystalline
We are brought low, to the darkest depths of the record, by the warped and metamorphic intro section of the fourth track, “Crystalline”. The overall tone of this song is injected with more death metal and doom influence than all of the previous tracks combined. In stark contrast with its heavy and brooding sound, the lyrics evoke an ecstatic trance that imagines the mystical and transformative experience of seeing the light and hearing the voice of God. The unique juxtaposition of mode and message negatively charges the unstable aura emanating from “Crystalline”.

V. Omnipresent Malevolence
The monumental final track, “Omnipresent Malevolence”, concludes the album by leading us down an unsettling path toward destruction. Lyrically, this song is a lamentation directed at the almighty, concerned primarily with evil and suffering. It begs the question; why do terrible things happen to righteous people, while sinful deeds go unpunished? How can this world so abound with wickedness if it is the creation of an all-benevolent, all-knowing, and all-powerful God? The menacing instrumental fury of “Omnipresent Malevolence” is an unorthodox blackened death epic, possessed by foreboding grooves, and intensified by pummelling brutality from start to finish.

3. The band played its first show in September 2023, opening for Sunless and Thantifaxath in Ottawa.

4. While promoting this first release, and looking forward to playing more shows, the band currently works on its second album.

Embark On A Sonic Odyssey With Video For Title Track Off Canada’s HATRED REIGNS “Awaken The Ancients”

New Album “Awaken The Ancients” Out December 1st, 2023

L-R – Jeff Calder – Guitars, Adam Semler – Bass & Vocals, Neil Grandy – Drums, Mitchi Dimitriadis – Vocals

Metalheads, brace yourselves for a transcendent tech death experience as Ottawa, Canada’s Hatred Reigns prepares to release their concept album, “Awaken The Ancients” on December 1st, 2023. This captivating offering delivers more than your standard technical death metal fare as it bridges the journey from 2018’s “Realm I: Affliction” to the perilous and unrevealed “Realm II: Affirmation”. The band comments:

“”Awaken The Ancients” stands as a testament to years of unwavering dedication and unyielding determination. The album’s thematic inspiration derives from an eclectic mix of films, literature, and the visceral experience of facing a spectacular demise. Divided into two realms, “Affliction” and “Affirmation,” the album offers a profound navigation of the protagonist’s perspectives and trials as they embark on their voyage to Necropia.”

Hatred Reigns combines Jeff Calder’s face-melting riffs and licks with Mitchi Dimitriadis’s enigmatic vocals (who also recorded, mixed, and mastered the album), complemented by Neil Grandy’s grinds and gravity blasts, all anchored by Adam Semler’s thunderous low-end. The band’s untamed raw energy during live performances adds an extra layer of intensity to their already formidable sound.

Defined by their chaotic, aggressive, unpredictable, enigmatic, and orchestral approach to music, Hatred Reigns unleashes an infernal symphony of brutality and precision. Their music is a testament to the raw power and intricate craftsmanship that defines death metal. Each member brings a barrage of styles and influences that contribute to the unique twist that is Hatred Reigns. They are recommended for fans of Origin, Suffocation, and Hideous Divinity.

0 MARBLE GHOSTS Introduce Themselves With Melodic And Aggressive First Single “Alone”; Debut EP Out March 2024

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 10, 2023

MARBLE GHOSTS Introduce Themselves With Melodic And Aggressive First Single “Alone”

Debut EP Coming March 2024

L-R – Paul R. Champagne (Bass), Adam Hansen (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Dylan Gunnell (Vocals), Jérôme Renaud (Drums)

Photo Credit – Lisa Thompson (Dark Moon Productions)

Marble Ghosts is a fresh new band out of Ottawa, Canada, composed of a death metal drummer, an old-school metal bassist, a singer heavily influenced by 90s grunge, and a metalcore guitar player. They blend genres and generations through their music highlighted with an unapologetic lyrical approach, as they push boundaries by excoriating traditional power structures, affirming the importance of speaking truth to power. Armed with conviction, they have their first single “Alone” ready to grab listeners by the throat. This single comes off their self-titled debut which will be released next year. It has special meaning to the band as they explain:

“‘Alone’ was written seven years ago and was sitting idle on a dying laptop. Adam (guitarist) resurrected the riff, adding pre-programmed drums and bass, providing the perfect canvas for Dylan (vocalist) to provide a vocal sample. From the first listen, Dylan knew he wanted to work with Adam. This was one of the first tracks the two worked on that would eventually become the project known as Marble Ghosts. Lyrically, ‘Alone’ represents both imagined and real fear. It was originally titled ‘No one can hear you scream’, and the idea behind it is how our own minds can create scenarios to frighten us, but our minds can also save us at the same time when real danger is present.”

The band’s name is a reference to historical statues, some of which stand long past their time. Like the band’s song, ‘False Heroes’, the band asks simply, “Why do we hold them up so high? Why do we cover up the crimes?” These marble ghosts are being pulled down physically but also in the changing mentalities toward flawed historical persons. The marble ghosts are also the traditions of old including religious beliefs that have not changed with the times to accept differing views. Again, the band seeks to call out these anachronistic outmoded views that cause real harm.

The single “Alone” is out now and the self-titled debut is expected in March 2024. Marble Ghosts has its first show on November 26, 2023, at Cafe Dekcuf in Ottawa, ON (Event Details). They are recommended for fans of Alter Bridge, Shinedown, and Saint Asonia.

“End Of The World completes the EP and no lie instantly had us drooling with its air of nagging menace veined by swarthy guitar lures and a tension of creative distraction, an imposing coaxing soon evolving into a full incitement of animated temptation and keen adventure. Grabbing favourite track honours in its greedy fists, the song prowled like a predator and roared with punk dissidence, aligning both to melodic and sonic drama.” – Ring Master Reviews

===================================================

About The EP Artwork:

This is a broken statue of Canada’s first Prime Minister John A. MacDonald and also the architect of the residential school’s system that was meant to solve the so-called “native problem”. Instead, it resulted in multiple generations of trauma for Indigenous people in Canada, the effects of which are still felt today. Called a cultural genocide by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, it is the most shameful chapter in Canada’s history.

Statues like these are ‘marble ghosts’, still revered by some as pioneers and trailblazers who forged their nations, but who also committed terrible crimes.

1. Old School – A thrash punk medley with a biting, unforgettable chorus that acts as an anthem for the disaffected who are tired of being ruled by a vocal religious minority. Old School is not anti-religious and does not seek to call out all who believe in a higher power. The target of the song is simply those who believe in a higher power that foments hate towards LGBTQ communities and believes in stripping away a woman’s right to choose what she can do with her body. With the words, “God is love and God is hate,” speaks to the way that fundamentalists twist and pervert teachings to fill an agenda of hate. This song is the fuck you to them. Fuck any god whose believers can’t accept love in different shapes and forms and who believes they can tell a person what they can do with their body.

2. Lie to Me – This was “Cheese 2”, another riff from the same session that included ‘Alone’. ‘Alone and ‘Lie to Me’ were sent to Dylan as ‘Cheese 1’ and ‘Cheese 2’ and were used in Dylan’s demo reel for Adam to showcase what he could do with the tracks.

‘Lie to Me’ features an intricate fingerstyle bass intro that builds into a catchy, heavy intro. Despite the scream vocals in the chorus, other than ‘Alone, it is the band’s most radio-friendly track, particularly because of the contrasting harmonies in between the harsh vocals.

Lyrically, ‘Lie to me’ is a song about betrayal and about building something that was never going to succeed. It is supposed to be cathartic as the final act of betrayal frees the person.

3. Alone – Originally titled, “Cheese 1” because it was part of a guitar mess-around session that included several dad-rock riffs that were rejected, this was one of the first songs that Adam sent Dylan. It was written 7 years ago and was sitting idle on a dying laptop. Adam resurrected the riff, adding pre-programmed drums and bass, providing the perfect canvas for Dylan to provide a vocal sample. From the first listen, Dylan knew he wanted to work with Adam. This was one of the first tracks the two worked on that would eventually become the project known as Marble Ghosts.

Lyrically, Alone represents both imagined and real fear. It was originally titled ‘No one can hear you scream’, and the idea behind it is how our own minds can create scenarios to frighten us, but our minds can also save us at the same time when real danger is present.

4. False Heroes – A sludgy verse mixed with a towering harmony-laced chorus and a powerful, thundering instrumental end, False Heroes, lyrically is aimed at the institutions of old and those who continue to prop them up. Originally called Marble Ghosts, the name was changed when the band realized that it was the perfect name for the band itself.

In the current culture, where some believe we should return to a golden past, False Heroes counters that with a resounding NO. The song seeks to eviscerate male privilege, divisive hateful religious figures, but most of all, the ghosts of the past, still seen as trailblazers and nation builders. Inspired by the dismantling of controversial statutes worldwide, but specifically, the downing of the statue of John A. MacDonald, Canada’s first PM and the architect of the residential school system, False Heroes is a warning against romanticizing and celebrating figures whose mindsets were at their core harmful and led in many cases to abusive and criminal acts.

5. End of the World  – The most unique track on the EP, ‘End of the World’ takes the ‘quiet’ ‘loud’ verse-chorus formula of 90s grunge and turns it on its head. The quiet verse with its detached vocals transitions into deafening double bass and heavy toms over desperate angry screams.

‘End of the World’ is cynical and angry and reflects the mentality of a millennial generation that grew up being told that their actions would make a difference in the world, and they didn’t. Late-stage capitalism dividing the rich and the poor, rampant homelessness and environmental devastation, ‘End of the World’ is the anthem for those disillusioned by the fact that greed persists despite these devastating problems and is even celebrated by the likes of Elon Musk, a man who can lose 41 billion and still be the richest man in the world.

We live in a world where billionaires invest in space tourism and multi-million dollar vanity projects when millions can’t afford housing and when the world in some cases is literally burning, and the people who can help lack the affluence and ability to do so.

Inspired by the epidemic of wildfires in Canada and specifically the devastating fires in Fort McMurray, ‘End of the World’ is a biting, cynical, and powerful takedown of the greed that is destroying our world.

Recently emerging onto the Canadian metal scene with a distinctive sound and a fierce commitment to challenging societal norms, Ottawa, ON’s Marble Ghosts announce the release of their debut self-titled EP this coming March 2024.

Comprising of a dynamic lineup that uniquely blends genres and generations, featuring a death metal drummer, an old-school metal bassist, a grunge-influenced singer, and a metalcore guitar player. This eclectic mix not only defines their sound but also underscores the band’s commitment to breaking musical boundaries.

Despite being a relatively new band, Marble Ghosts demonstrates a clear musical direction. Their first EP showcases five compelling songs that highlight their diverse influences and styles. As a band, they embrace generational differences, allowing their music to evolve organically as they grow more comfortable with each other.

Explaining the origin of their band name, Marble Ghosts draws inspiration from historical figures revered by some as pioneers and trailblazers but who also committed terrible crimes. The band seeks to call out the tradition that these effigies represent. Their music is recommended for fans of Shinedown, Saint Asonia, and Three Days Grace.

Marble Ghosts’ debut self-titled EP is due out on March 1, 2024.

JUDICATOR Releases Power Metal Cover Of Barry Manilow’s Classic “Mandy”

Strap on your bullet belts and gird up your loins! American power metal quintet Judicator has a sweet and sassy new track out, a cover of Barry Manilow’s “Mandy”, presented with a crimson music video. This track was recorded during the same time period as their last album “The Majesty of Decay” (Prosthetic Records) and is a majestic send-off to guitarist Balmore Lemus and drummer Jordy Elcess, who are featured in the music video and have since departed from the band. Vocalist John Yelland explains the track in more detail:

“‘Mandy’ combines the tenderness of Barry Manilow’s 1978 hit with the ominous soundscape of Panos Cosmatos’ 2018 film of the same name. I like to think of this song in terms of the relationship between Red (Nicolas Cage) and Mandy (Andrea Riseborough) in ‘Mandy’ (2018). Although the lyrics don’t totally match the circumstances of these characters, the love and regret expressed certainly relate and resonate.”

Judicator is known primarily for historical topics that stretch across seven albums since its inception in 2012. They cover everything from Napoleon Bonaparte to the renowned Byzantine general Belisarius and have, on occasion, also grappled with heavy themes like cancer, relationships, and death. Whatever they write about, the common thread in all their albums is an exploration of both the human heart and condition.

“Mandy” fits in well with Judicator’s heavy metal style, it will soothe you, make you smile, and entice you to sing along. The single artwork is very low-fi compared to what they usually release. During the filming of the music video, they took some photos that were thematic to film ‘Mandy’, and the final result features iconic items like a chainsaw and a pyramid of Cheddar Goblin mac & cheese boxes.

Whether this is the first encounter with Judicator or one of many, they are sure to impress with their brand of experimental power metal. They are recommended for fans of Blind Guardian, Scanner, and Iron Savior.

“The Majesty of Decay is simply one of the best power metal albums released in the last few years, and potentially, my favorite Judicator yet.” – Angry Metal Guy

“This album is guaranteed that fans of Judicator will be talking about it for years to come. There are those which will utterly hate this album as a release that has gone too far in one direction. However, this is a gamble which has paid off and ‘The Majesty of Decay’ is not only arguably one of the best albums released this year, but also debatably the best album that Judicator have ever released.” – Metal Digest

“[Judicator is] unmatched when it comes to delivering an illuminating experience that is both energized and heartfelt.” — GBHBL

“Judicator is something new, but still something excellent. And we sing along, with open shirts and fists pointing to the sky.” — Devilution

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 10, 2023

Out Now! DISSONA’s New EP “Dreadfully Distinct” Takes A Progressive Look Into The Blade Runner Universe

Chicago’s Dissona goes into uncharted territory with their new EP “Dreadfully Distinct”, a three-track homage to the gritty world of Blade Runner and the interesting characters who inhabit it. Never before have they so strictly adhered to a thematic device and allowed it to fully take the reins of the creation, however, they believe this EP is a refined distillation of their capabilities to this point and a guidepost for the future of the band. They explain further:

“This EP is the most concentrated version of our sound to date. It’s mature and focused and demands multiple interrupted listens to uncover the intriguing layers concealed within. Sit in your favorite listening environment, close your eyes, and take it in. Read the lyrics. Listen again. There are stories here that are of great value to us and we’ve done everything we can to ensure the art reflects that value. Press play and let us take you somewhere beyond, a voyage of soaring melodicism and roiling energy, violent and decisive.”

Dissona continues to share that for this EP, the three-track landscape felt right. From there, they had several conversations about which stories/characters in the Blade Runner universe felt compelling enough to have their own song and that was that. Fans are aware that their third full-length album has been in production for quite some time and those fans can rest easy knowing the entire album is recorded and will be released next year.

Adventurous and engaging, “Dreadfully Distinct” is a uniquely cinematic trip through progressive metal. It was mixed and mastered by Matt Motto with album artwork created by Karo Gasiorwoska. It is recommended listening for fans of Cynic, Opeth, and Persefone.

“Dreadfully Distinct” is now available as of November 10th, 2023 via Earache Distribution and is available at the following links:

“Drawing inspiration from the Bladerunner movie series, specifically Agent K from Blade Runner 2049, “Skinjob” has an icy exterior musically, but definitely has the DNA of great mid-west electronica and industrial music inside of its veins. Their entire upcoming new EP Dreadfully Distinct, drops November 10th and follows this story.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“What I love about this band’s sound is the way in which the rolling riffs are mixed with some highly technical playing, but without becoming complex for the sake of complexity alone. David Dubenic has a very dramatic way of singing, utilising different ‘voices’. That usually puts me off, and can sound rather fake and overtly theatrical. But David has the ability to deliver it very convincingly.” – DPRP.net

“This EP delves into the Blade Runner universe, with each track dedicated to a character from the iconic film. The first single, “The Prodigal Son,” explores the backstory of Roy Batty, one of the original film’s central characters. While their third full-length album is also on the horizon, listeners can get an early fix with their upcoming cinematically crafted progressive EP.” – Metal Insider

“Since I wasn’t yet familiar with DISSONA, this EP was a pleasant surprise for me, offering a consistent concept, wonderfully diverse compositions and great performances from all band members. I’m digging their kind of musical story-telling, where everything seems to be in the right place, perfectly supported by the well-balanced, yet full-sounding production. With the earlier mentioned already recorded album on the horizon, it feels like a good time to dive into their backcatalogue before the new opus will be released, which is highly anticipated now!” – Mostly-Metal

“Ethnic instruments bring “Renaissance” to life, a track that finds the band take on the character of Rick Deckard as he and Rachel escape from LA. Another powerhouse performance driven home by Drew Goddard behind the kit, it strikes a wonderful balance between the embellishments of synths and orchestration. Dubenic offers up a couple of unclean vocal moments which add contrast while the thought and vision that has gone into creating something this epic is abundantly clear. There is even a moment for 90’s breakbeats in the final moments. 8/10” – Metal Noise

“The more times you listen to this EP, the more you pick up. It’s quite a fascinating release. Fans of the Blade Runner universe will get a lot more out of it than non-fans, but everyone can enjoy the imaginative prog noise Dissona create regardless. 9/10” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

““Skinjob” is the shining star on the Dreadfully Distinct – walking a line between metal and brooding goth à la Depeche Mode. As David Dubenic (vocals), Matt Motto (guitars), Craig Hamburger (bass), and Drew Goddard (drums) create collaboratively, aligning to the overarching themes and narrative, their unity allows for both an aural and visual experience. Dreadfully Distinct is not dreadful but it is distinct, creative, and brilliant in its creation.” – Amplify The Noise

0 STONE HORNS Enters Uncharted Territory w/ “Chrysalis” Off New Album “Chimaira” Out Jan 2024

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 10, 2023

STONE HORNS Enters Uncharted Territory w/ “Chrysalis” Off New Album “Chimaira” Out Jan 2024

New Album “Chimaira” Out January 26th, 2024

Set to release their third full-length “Chimaira” this coming January on Rockshots Records, STONE HORNS are unveiling the second single “Chrysalis”, which ventures into uncharted vocal territory for frontman David Viard. With its big Machine Head inspiration, it’s a track whose verses are almost rapped, with a groove that’s always very present, right through to the melodic chorus.

Listen to “Chrysalis” at the following links:

Visualizer – https://youtu.be/S92A4PTAWmE

Spotify – https://bfan.link/sh-chrysalis

Founded in 2016 in Marseille, France, Stone Horns has been unleashing groove death metal since debuting “The Beast Inside” released in 2018, along with 2021’s “Rise of Apophis”. The band’s third album “Chimaira” features seven groove-laden hell-bent tracks, that tell the story of an odyssey of being rejected by all and thirsting for revenge. It explores life’s thirst for recognition, whatever its form. Through its various acts, the story continues in different states, colors, and landscapes. A raw, merciless finality that leaves little room for breath in this torment of violence.

“We’re all chasing a chimera, but isn’t it the chimera that’s chasing us? That’s the question this album tries to answer, combining freshness and warmth, violence and peace, waves, and digressions.” adds the band.

With their headbanging groove, this third studio offering “Chimaira” is a culmination of all the band’s experiments to date. This is the band’s most accomplished album to date, both in terms of composition and production. The band’s long-time fans will be satisfied, but they also hope to bring in new fans with this record, with a slightly more modern production. Each track has its own universe on this full length, but it’s also part of a whole, because like their previous albums, “Chimaira” is a concept album.

“There’s something for every metal taste and color. The aim of this album is for fans of every sub-genre of metal to be able to say to themselves at some point when listening to it: “I really like that beat”. “Chimaira” is a bit like the child of “The Beast Inside” (2018) and “Rise of Apophis” (2021)”. says the band.

Recommended listening for fans of Machine Head, Devildriver, Slipknot, Lamb of God, and Jinjer, Stone Horns’ third full-length, due out on January 26, 2024, via Rockshots Records, is available for pre-order at https://bit.ly/ChimairaCD.

RISE OF APOPHIS (2021) – Media Reviews

“The real strength of this album lies in the diversity of the compositions as well as a good alternation of the songs and the atmopheres. With a production worthy of the big American machines, “Rise of Apophis” is a superb discovery…” – METAL’ART

“Far from resting on their laurels, the Stone Horns rekindle the flame and offer today a very good album that announces a turning point in their career…” – DAILY ROCK FRANCE 4,5/5

“Power is the key word here. The listener is plunged into the heart of a lead maelstrom that falls on him without giving him any respite. With Rise Of Apophis, STONE HORNS has clearly taken a step forward and offers us an accomplished album that they must defend on stage…” – AMONG THE LIVING

“The album is never redundant. It is all the less so as the Marseillaise venture on this new album on new territories for them: thus this excellent “Shores of Kismeth” which mixes diabolically heavy and black influences. A particularly successful second try that confirms all the qualities of the combo and sees them move to an higher level.” – SEIGNEURS DU METAL 8/10

THE BEAST INSIDE (2018) – Media Reviews

“At a time when the future of Machine Head seems to be uncertain, the release of this first Stone Horns album, “The Beast Inside release of this first Stone Horns album, “The Beast Inside”, will certainly make some happy people.” – ROCK HARD FRANCE

“The object raises the potential of a young formation which does not cease to ally groove and raw energy, the whole enveloped by a rather effective production.” – METALLIAN

“Très bon premier album. Du sang frais!” – WARM TV 8/10

Merry metal x-mas from Montreal, Canada’s Vantablack Warship, and their cover of the 1944 classic “All I Want For Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth), which is featured on the holiday compilation album “Noël In Extremis II” being released digitally and on CD by label BAM Co. Heavy on November 10th.

“Over the years Vantablack Warship has seen lots of people get banged up in the pit, some actually losing their two front teeth. We thought, how suitable to do a song about someone asking for their teeth for Christmas, albeit from a different vantage point. We’ve really massacred this holiday classic and added a little Vantablack Warship spin to it. Can you spot the 3-second hommage to Metallica’s Damage Inc.?” adds the band.

Listen to Vantablack Warship‘s rendition of “All I Want For Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth) at https://youtu.be/c3kEN23odM4

The holiday album “Noël In Extremis II” also features tracks from bands Dizzygoth, The Lookout, Nova Spei, Dirty Cheetah, Thrash La Reine, Rope Skills, Demonstöne, Tunguska Mammoth, Obscurcis Romancia, MR.82, and Reanimator. Album Artwork by Filip Ivanović.

Vantablack Warship will also be performing on December 2nd in Montreal, QC at Foufounes Électriques for the launch party for “Noël In Extremis II” being hosted by BAM Co. Heavy with headliner BARF along with Dizzygoth, The Lookout, Nova Spei, Dirty Cheetah, Thrash La Reine, Demonstöne and Tunguska Mammoth.

Event info – https://www.facebook.com/events/1004903737290939/

Vantablack Warship is made up of members who have worked in prominent groups of the Quebec underground scene for the last 30 years (Arseniq33, Ghoulunatics, Brutal Chérie, Foreshadow, Les Ékorchés, Buffalo Theory Mtl). With a self-titled EP and album “Abrasive Pulmonic Speak” under their belts, they have shared the stage with an impressive lineup of prominent bands. They now have a new partnership with the Quebec label BAM & Co. Heavy to present their new album “Last Of The Hardmouthed Poets”.

The title of the album speaks to blacklisted writers of yesteryear and reminds us not to take freedom of expression and thought for granted. “Last of the Hardmouthed Poets” also refers to ending eras, dying races, lost generations, and cherishing those who remain. It’s a hard-hitting bomb of an album ready to blow your mind with thrash metal riffs and expertly written lyrics. The band expects that people who are already familiar with them will be pleasantly surprised with what they consider their best effort yet. It’s pedal-to-the-metal driving music that would be an excellent soundtrack to any road trip.

The tracks on “Last Of The Hard Mouthed Poets” all came together organically, but were mainly inspired by the writings of Beat Generation authors, and various life themes such as loss, perseverance, anti-racism, and cherishing the important things in life. They are unapologetically fast, and addictive, most suitable for fans of Cancer Bats, Cro-Mags, Exodus, Slayer, and Pantera.

“Last of the Hardmouthed Poets” was released on April 28th, 2023, and is available from BAM & Co. Heavy.
