Enigmatic Rock Upstarts WITHIN RUST Issue Studio Update For Upcoming LP With Producer Travis Saunders

Music Video – The Taking – http://youtu.be/FOVteYDu6zw
After 30 shows in the last six months that included a summer tour in the States and participating in 99.3 FM The Fox’s ‘Seeds’ indie showcase competition, Vancouver, BC’sWITHIN RUST has issued the following studio update on recording their upcoming yet to be titled debut full length with producer Travis Saunders (Secret and Whisper, Young Sparrows, Jess Penner).
“For our debut we’re really shooting for a rebirth of sorts as we aren’t the same band that burst on to the local Vancouver circuit back in 2012. We’ve been on the road and we’ve figured out how to write the music we always thought we were writing, things have gone in a really mature, but bizarre direction. Travis is sort of a local legend and he’s got a mad genius way about him so I’m really excited to see what he gets out of us.” comments lead vocalist/ keyboardist Nolen Scott.
Within Rust are four guys who started in a Vancouver suburb garage in 2012 blending progressive with alternative rock to write moody and dark, angry and fast, desperate and lost— loveable bipolar songs. Their tracks such as “Rorschach”, a clear ode to 90’s post-hardcore a la At The Drive In along with “The Taking”, a Killers-esque indie track with a nod to Pink Floyd plus an Ok Computer-era Radiohead sensibility with some Rush added to the mix, serves fans with a strange but accessible sonic cocktail not to be missed.

Life Is A Monopoly! Montreal, QC’s KOLONY express their distaste for some of the world’s social issues with their new lyric video ‘Monopoly’, one of eleven tracks from their recently released debut album ‘Sledge’.
“Today is a new experience for us (Kolony) with our first official lyric video. We’re very happy to share it with you! Monopoly is one of our favorites because of its lyrics that we feel need to be heard. Also, thanks to Roberto Napolitano who did the video. Have fun!” comments guitarist Maxx.
Lyric Video – Monopoly – http://youtu.be/di6ZhxAIPZI
About:
Best described as crafting melodic rock metal, KOLONY believes in doing things a little differently. Boldly combining elements of old school metal, NWOBHM, modern metal and rock, the band loves fast tempos, melodic vocals and all-around high-octane music with each track coming from the heart and reflecting the way its members think about the world. Setting out to write a full-length debut album at the start of 2013, KOLONY has arrived at its latest record, ‘Sledge’, an 11 track power adventure produced by Jef Fortin and the band that was unleashed to the masses on November 14, 2014.

“All these guys songs are equally hummable and skull crushing, kind of like they took some power ballads and scorched them to perfection. And you have to love an album concept like the one they’ve chosen, one which calls for the dismantling of the current societal system in favor of a Metalhead’s world view. The lyrics convey this in an excellent and evocative way that really is convincing to me. Let me impart some of this wisdom by saying “Sledge that Shit”.” – Absolute Underground Mag
“All four band members are great musicians and more importantly, great song-writers….There’s an optimistic ‘up’ sound to their music, which is great. The concept here is about building a better society, away from materialism, in harmony with nature. Great cover art too – these things matter.” – Hellbound
“Every once in a while a CD will land on my doorstep that reminds me what the true spirit of “heavy metal” is all about. In this case that CD is Sledge by Montreal shredders Kolony. The group embodies the qualities that make up what can be considered the stereotypical, or “mass perception” style of heavy metal. Driving rhythms, shredding solos and plenty of parts sure to get the head banging.” – Hellbound
“What a monster of an album Sledge is. Kolony is a very talentful band that brings its own original mix of metal to the table, setting its own path and distancing itself from the rest of the province’s metal scene.” – Metal Made In Canada
“La beauté de l’album Sledge est surtout au niveau de la grande virtuosité des musiciens, la qualité de la production et l’immense souplesse face aux nombreux changements de registre dans toutes les chansons de l’album…Si tu sens que Trivium t’a abandonné avec leur dernière offrande, poigne-toi le nouvel album de Kolony!” – Voir
“Three things from Canada that make our lives better: hockey, the movie Strange Brew, and now the band Kolony with a nice, new album.” – National Rock Review
“Quebec’s finest release this year… ‘Sledge’ is an absolute roller-coaster of a ride that will get blood pumping and moshpits working overtime, hell this is insanity in physical form!! AIEEEEEE!!!!!” – Global Metal Apocalypse
“Metal music merits much more credit than being referred to as an outdated 80/90s whim, such is the message conveyed by the Canadian band KOLONY in their album “Sledge”, bonding old school musical features with XXIst century lyrics, tackling modern social, economic and political issues.” – Metal Temple
“The band has amazing talent! … We are not dealing with beginners here!” – MusikUniverse
“Fast, tight, powerful, original, clean, melodic, happy and mean at the same time…Wow!” – P.E. Drolet, Power Slaves

Highlight #10 – National Loud Chart – March 10, 2015 – (Earshot)
“Country goes metal – One of the more inventive musical acts to hit the local circuit in recent years is Them County Bastardz “T.C.B”, based in Leamington. This screamo quintet combines beer-swilling, redneck swagger with Pantera-like intensity.” – Windsor Star
“Get ready to fist-pump, “Sick Daze,” the new album from the old schoolin’ and good timin’ band, Them County Bastardz, is just what we’ve been looking for…a great metal album, with great technical playing and vocals all wrapped up in a raw, southern fried vibe. Plus, its also a damn good time. With hints of Pantera, Hell Yeah, Godsmack and a healthy heaping of southern rock, Them County Bastardz have made an album that you can throw on, crack a beer and fits pump and head bang too. Hell, if you feel like it, air guitar to the sick guitar solos on tracks like, “Buzzkill” “The Bastard” “Rise Up” and “Drive By.” Just buckle up and enjoy, what in this humble Bro’s opinion, is a damn good album. With a Bro-Metal rating of, 8/10, Them County Bastardz, have a hit on their hands. With a release date of, 2.24.15, go pre-order, “Sick Daze,” and get ready for hell raising, beer drinking, metal glory.” – Bro-Metal
“Once upon a time, metal was actually fun, no really. And the splendidly named Them County Bastardz harken back to that era. What you got here are some seriously well-written riff-based tracks (crushing riffs, real’ wall of sound’ stuff) in the vein of Black Label Society and Pantera circa Cowboys From Hell. There’s also something of Alice In Chains in there too. Good influences, but Them County Bastardz have a strong personality all of their own. Overall, it’s like some crazy concept album. I kept thinking of Smokey and the Bandit as I listened to it. Indeed, it’s feel good stuff all the way, a great joke at the expense of the dire band Extreme (never was a band more badly named! Pathetic would have been a more apt moniker). The production, by the band and a certain Chris Towle, is first class. As a constructive suggestion, not a criticism, I detect an AC/DC influence, and I’d like to hear them do more of this in future. Overall, a damn fine album!” – Hellbound.ca
“If you love when the words “fun” and “metal” go together, in special when there are talented and enthusiastic musicians behind that mix, this album will certainly put a smile upon your face while you’re having a beer and banging your head with your metal buddies.” – The Headbanging Moose
“With the new NASCAR season just around the corner, this album would go well with it and the game of cornhole that’s sure to break out. Crack open a sixer and enjoy the sounds from our neighbors. You’ll be glad to check this one out if you’re a fan of Hell Yeah, Black Label Society, or Pantera.” – National Rock Review
“if you’re a fan of honest, beer-swillin’ riffs then belly up to the bar.” – Heavy Metal About.com
“If you love southern rock splice with a little fusion metal then this may well be for you.” – Extreme Metal TV
“Right from the very first track “Drive By” all was sounding good with grinding guitars, Rob Zombie sounding vocals and heavy as f..k drums…Sick Daze is a solid sounding Heavy Metal Ep/album played with guts and aggression a no gimmicks full throttle joyride.” – Midlands Metalheads
“Them County Bastardz use Riff Metal to their ful advantage as they continually write catchy and hooky licks and riffs in their songs. The rhythm to “The Bastard” is simple sound and really catchy, perfect for Headbanging.” – Kingston Music Reviews
“this is pure redneck metal as it should be and nothing more and nothing less than that. For sure an album I will listen to more often.” – Lords of Metal
“All in all I think Sick Daze is an entertaining slice…great roaring and groovy sounds.” – Wings of Death
