Life Is A Monopoly! Montreal, QC’s KOLONY express their distaste for some of the world’s social issues with their new lyric video ‘Monopoly’, one of eleven tracks from their recently released debut album ‘Sledge’.
“Today is a new experience for us (Kolony) with our first official lyric video. We’re very happy to share it with you! Monopoly is one of our favorites because of its lyrics that we feel need to be heard. Also, thanks to Roberto Napolitano who did the video. Have fun!” comments guitarist Maxx.

About:
Best described as crafting melodic rock metal, KOLONY believes in doing things a little differently. Boldly combining elements of old school metal, NWOBHM, modern metal and rock, the band loves fast tempos, melodic vocals and all-around high-octane music with each track coming from the heart and reflecting the way its members think about the world. Setting out to write a full-length debut album at the start of 2013, KOLONY has arrived at its latest record, ‘Sledge’, an 11 track power adventure produced by Jef Fortin and the band that was unleashed to the masses on November 14, 2014.

“All these guys songs are equally hummable and skull crushing, kind of like they took some power ballads and scorched them to perfection. And you have to love an album concept like the one they’ve chosen, one which calls for the dismantling of the current societal system in favor of a Metalhead’s world view. The lyrics convey this in an excellent and evocative way that really is convincing to me. Let me impart some of this wisdom by saying “Sledge that Shit”.” – Absolute Underground Mag
“All four band members are great musicians and more importantly, great song-writers….There’s an optimistic ‘up’ sound to their music, which is great. The concept here is about building a better society, away from materialism, in harmony with nature. Great cover art too – these things matter.” – Hellbound
“Every once in a while a CD will land on my doorstep that reminds me what the true spirit of “heavy metal” is all about. In this case that CD is Sledge by Montreal shredders Kolony. The group embodies the qualities that make up what can be considered the stereotypical, or “mass perception” style of heavy metal. Driving rhythms, shredding solos and plenty of parts sure to get the head banging.” – Hellbound
“What a monster of an album Sledge is. Kolony is a very talentful band that brings its own original mix of metal to the table, setting its own path and distancing itself from the rest of the province’s metal scene.” – Metal Made In Canada
“La beauté de l’album Sledge est surtout au niveau de la grande virtuosité des musiciens, la qualité de la production et l’immense souplesse face aux nombreux changements de registre dans toutes les chansons de l’album…Si tu sens que Trivium t’a abandonné avec leur dernière offrande, poigne-toi le nouvel album de Kolony!” – Voir
“Three things from Canada that make our lives better: hockey, the movie Strange Brew, and now the band Kolony with a nice, new album.” – National Rock Review
“Quebec’s finest release this year… ‘Sledge’ is an absolute roller-coaster of a ride that will get blood pumping and moshpits working overtime, hell this is insanity in physical form!! AIEEEEEE!!!!!” – Global Metal Apocalypse
“Metal music merits much more credit than being referred to as an outdated 80/90s whim, such is the message conveyed by the Canadian band KOLONY in their album “Sledge”, bonding old school musical features with XXIst century lyrics, tackling modern social, economic and political issues.” – Metal Temple
“The band has amazing talent! … We are not dealing with beginners here!” – MusikUniverse
“Fast, tight, powerful, original, clean, melodic, happy and mean at the same time…Wow!” – P.E. Drolet, Power Slaves
