WACKEN METAL BATTLE CANADA – WINNIPEG – ROUND ONE & TWO – JAN 16th & 17th @ The Zoo

Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce that their Winnipeg battles will be taking place on January 16th and 17th @ The Zoo. Winners from these rounds will be facing off in the prairie final in Regina, SK on February 20th at The Exchange against Saskatoon’s winning bands with one winner moving on to the national final in Toronto, ON in June (date to be determined). The winning band from the national final in Toronto, ON will go on to represent Canada at the international final that includes over 30 participating countries at the world’s largest metal fest Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany taking place from July 30th to August 1st.

About:

WMBC has seen Canada’s top metal bands battle each other since 2013 for one to rule them all and perform at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany. Toronto’s Crimson Shadows (2013 winners – video at Wacken) and Montreal’s Mutank (2014 winners – video at Wacken) have had that honour, playing in front of thousands.

Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2015 band submissions are now closed for the following Canadian cities Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

Each city will hold their qualifying rounds plus city finals from the months of January to May 2015 selecting the top band to move forward to the national finals in Toronto, ON in June (date to be determined) with one being selected to perform at the 26th edition of Wacken Open Air taking place from July 30th to August 1st. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry.

The finalists will be selected as follows.

1 finalist from BC (Vancouver & Victoria will face off)

1 finalist from Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton will face off)

2 finalists from Toronto, ON

1 finalist from Quebec (Montreal & Quebec City will face off)

1 finalist from Ottawa, ON

1 finalist from Saskatoon or Winnipeg (Saskatoon and Winnipeg will face off)

Best described as crafting melodic rock metal, KOLONY believes in doing things a little differently. Them County Bastardz keep it simple! They are local dudes from Essex County who are in it to make old school metal with back forty rock and having fun while doing it!

Formed in 2013 and based in Leamington, ON (an hour south of Windsor/ Detroit area) these Canadian rednecks are headbanging heavy riffs with heavy lyrics to give insight to their county life style.

Their new album ‘Sick Daze’ due out February 24, 2015 via Smokehouse Records tells the story of life in the county, with tracks such as their fan favorite ‘Drive By’ to heavy hitters such as ‘Bastard’ to ‘Rise Up’. Inspired by true stories and experiences, their seven track debut is about county living so crack open a beer, get ready to rock out and have a good time!

Assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English since their conception in 2003, Gatineau, QC death metal band INSURRECTION has unleashed a teaser for their upcoming music video ‘Prototype’ filmed by La Corp and set to be revealed on February 3, 2015. ‘Prototype’ is the title track from INSURRECTION‘s first crowd funded and third full length album produced by Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) released via Canadian label Galy Records in late 2013.
