Them County Bastardz keep it simple! They are local dudes from Essex County (an hour south of Windsor/ Detroit area) who are in it to make old school metal with back forty rock and having fun while doing it! With their upcoming debut album ‘Sick Daze’ due out February 24, 2015 via Smokehouse Records, the Canadian rednecks have teamed up with Bravewords.com for the premiere of their track ‘Drive By’, which can be heard at the following link here.

“I am super stoked about this album coming out. It’s been a lot of work. I feel ‘Drive By’ is a good introduction to who we are. The song has stuck with the band for a long time, through our ups and downs. ‘Drive By’ was written about a time we were cruising around in the county on a suspended license, seeing a cop and hoping he just drives by. Cheers!” comments vocalist Andrew Watson.

Produced by Chris Towle and TCB plus mastered by Chuck Carvaalho, ‘Sick Daze’ features seven tracks inspired by true stories and experiences of the band living life in the county, so crack open a beer, get ready to rock out and have a good time.

Fun Fact: The album title Sick Daze refers to when you take a Monday off work because you are still feeling the weekend fun.

WACKEN METAL BATTLE CANADA 2015 – Selected Bands & City Battle Rounds

Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce this year’s line up of competing bands across the country in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City.

“2015 is going to be our strongest year yet. More cities, more submissions, and more great Canadian metal. The chosen bands are looking very promising and I am especially excited for this year’s edition.” comments WMBC organizer JJ Tartaglia.

All bands competing are battling for one to rule them all and play at the world’s largest metal fest Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany taking place from July 30th to August 1st. Toronto’s Crimson Shadows (2013 winners – video at Wacken) and Montreal’s Mutank (2014 winners – video at Wacken) have had that honour playing in front of thousands.

Each city will hold their qualifying rounds plus city finals from the months of January to May 2015 selecting the top band to move forward to the national finals in Toronto, ON in June (date to be determined) with one being selected to perform at the 26th edition of Wacken Open Air taking place from July 30th to August 1st. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry.

The finalists will be selected as follows.

1 finalist from BC (Vancouver & Victoria will face off)

1 finalist from Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton will face off)

2 finalists from Toronto, ON

1 finalist from Quebec (Montreal & Quebec City will face off)

1 finalist from Ottawa, ON

1 finalist from Saskatoon or Winnipeg (Saskatoon and Winnipeg will face off)

Since early 2011, Grand Prairie, AB’s Arrival of Autumn has been shaking up the Canadian prairies with their heavy riffs, hooky vocals and speed demon double kicks. Their versatile headbanging tunes has made them accessible to fans of rock to the most hardcore death metal moshpit.

A band name inspired by Opeth lyric’s (thanks to drummer Ty Fox) and influenced by various genres ranging from melodic death to groove metal to progressive to rock n’ roll, AOA’s catalogue has grown rapidly with two self-releases in 2014. First it was their debut EP ‘Endless Nights’ in March followed by their ten track full length ‘Shadows’ in September.

“We are just trying to make a record that’s a little different than what’s going on at the moment. It’s no secret there is an abundance of the exact same thing floating around and we would never add to that. We wanted to give them something exciting and different to listen to. The good thing about our album is you can take any 3 songs put them together and it’s great. Our CD doesn’t rely on having only a few good songs. Every song has the potential to be a single. It can be received any way and people will get what AOA is all about.” comments AOA vocalist Ty Fox.

Touching on personal issues to triumphing demons as a band, ‘Shadows’ with a dash of dark lyrics and tracks such as The Court Of Owls to There’s No Angels Here to the infectious chorus of Like Fire demonstrates AOA are not just evolving, but are a live force raging to be discovered by the masses.

Decibel Magazine has teamed up with ARBITRATOR to premiere their latest track‘They Will Worship This Fire of Agony’, which is off the band’s upcoming debut album ‘Indoctrination of Sacrilege’ due out on February 13th.

The album is produced by Sacha Laskow (ex-Divinity, Every Hour Kills) plus mastered byJens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy) along with album artwork done by Colin Marks (Exodus, Scar Symmetry, Jeff Loomis). ARBITRATOR is a project that began in late 2010 as the brainchild of Robert Kukla and officially debut in 2011 with the release “The Consummate Ascendancy” with former drummer Corey Chernesky. The new arsenal of ARBITRATOR features Robert Kukla on rhythm guitar, bass and vocals with drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted), Myles Malloy on lead guitar and Connor ORT Linning for programming.
