In the winter of 2008, Black Pestilence was formed in Calgary, Canada by bassist/vocalist Valax. Initially, Black Pestilence started as a one-man studio project, but years afterward, it evolved into a three-piece band. Over time, Black Pestilence has become known for their sound by combining black metal, punk rock, and noise. To date, the band has released six full-length albums, two EPs, and performed in various parts of Canada and Europe.

““Crushing” is indeed the first word that comes to mind when hearing the massive mauling tones of the riffs, like rock being excavated by some humongous machine. That machine drives forward with snapping punk beats, laced with a sinister yet glorious guitar melody. The music itself also becomes more vicious as the riffs start rapidly jabbing and then seething. But the music also channels darker and more despairing moods, before those two solos kick up the pulse and transform the music into an experience of evil ecstasy. The thing turns out to be a very catchy beast too.” – The Devil’s Connection (single) – No Clean Singing

“I seriously can’t get enough of this. It’s big, nasty, and as rough as a badger’s arse. The black energy it creates is like a massive middle finger to the world and it says – you don’t like me, you don’t like my music or all the things I stand for – go and fuck yourself! This is real and this is as honest as it gets. Fantastic – more, please! 9/10” – My Global Mind

“weave in some catchy hooks and melody especially on “Chaos of Carnality” and “The Devil’s Connection,” songs I can easily imagine crowds shouting along to.” – The Metal Crypt

“They get straight to the point on ‘Mortal Rift’ and I will say immediately that if you like Midnight, Venom and Hellripper then this will be right up your street. It’s loud, it’s vulgar, it’s fast, it’s filthy dirty and chaotic – give me more! Valax bangs his bass for the intro to ‘A Life Of Evil’ and is soon joined by the razor-sharp guitar of Daniel Toews and the powerhouse rhythms of Davey Hellfire. This is relentless and pummelling so much so that you can’t help banging your head. 9/10” – Jace Media Music

“These Canadian metallers have returned with their seventh full-length offering, executing a unique blend of chaotic black metal and punk rock with electronic samples and catchy, shorter song lengths. This album, the result of three years of work, presents seven satanic-esque anthems that push the boundaries of their signature sound. While retaining their fast and infectious style, Chaotic Wisdom, also experiments with dissonant tones, industrial electronics, and auxiliary percussion, taking Black Pestilence’s chaotic noise to the next level. The album, mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow, features artwork by Juha Vuorma, making it a must-listen for black metal enthusiasts, particularly fans of Impaled Nazarene, Acidez, and Midnight.” – Metal Insider

“While speed or thrash metal to the core, there’s a bit of punk about Black Pestilence. The band dances the fine line between thrash and punk with a destructive ease. That thrash punk blend can be heard in “Infernal Might” featuring Mark Russell and closing track “Animus”. And before one knows it, Chaotic Wisdom is over. It clocks in at a mere twenty-four minutes. Get distracted and you might not hear the entire album and that would be quite a shame. As fast as it is, Chaotic Wisdom is quick, melodic, and a great listen. MUST LISTEN TRACKS: “The Devil’s Connection”, “Aspect of Darkness”, “Infernal Might”, “Animus””  – Amplify The Noise

Black Pestilence has its own approach to Black Metal, blending a raw, Punk-influenced base with strange futuristic elements. Chaotic Wisdom is very short, but provides a good overview of the band’s rage.” – Acta Infernalis

“Maintaining its Mad Max side, primitive and low-brow, Black Pestilence offers us a significantly more modern and exalted version of its furious mixture bathed in d-beat, Toxic Holocaust and Venom. Many new followers should easily join their cult.” – Eklektik Rock

“Blackened thrashy stuff with a little groove.” – Moshpit Radio 89.9 FM (Madison, WI)

“Black Pestilence has created another great record and it only takes about twenty-five minutes for you to fall in love with it as well.” – Abaddon Magazine

“Black Pestilence come from Canada, have a thriving record career behind them and today, confining their acid inspiration in just twenty five minutes, they hammer us until we lose consciousness with this ‘ Chaotic Wisdom ’. Their overbearing proposal – that combines thrash, punk and black metal – has caught our attention from the very first listening, accomplices a compositional liveliness and a muscular production that truly do justice to what musically gave birth to this interesting power trio.” – Loud And Proud

“The album is moving forward at an irreconcilable pace, and thanks to less traditional influences, among which we can further count the HCpunk singing of the guest Mark Russell ( Citizen Rage ), it becomes a devilishly baked stylish delicacy.” – Metal Forever

“they play a raw and devilish kind of punk metal which mixes d-beat destruction in the vein of BROKEN BONES and early DISCHARGE with a first wave black metal touch. If Satan’s into crust punk, he’d be into this bunch.” – Wormwood Chronicles

==============================================================

“A recent discovery that has tickled the excitement nerves in my jaded and encrusted ear drums is Calgary’s Black Pestilence. Their take on black metal incorporates old-school thrash and punk and if you listen closely you can hear the smatterings of plain ol’ rock ‘n’ roll and swaths of noise and is a sound that has been explored and nurtured since the band formed as a one-man project in 2008. The band’s handlers claim those fans of Toxic Holocaust, Impaled Nazarene, Municipal Waste, Midnight and Cradle of Filth unconcerned with genre boundaries will enjoy Black Pestilence and we have to say the nail has certainly been hit on the head in that regard. Additionally, fans of image and theatrics will find value in the band’s aesthetic which owes to a collision of black metal, goth rock and Judas Priest’s wardrobe and fashion sense. ” – Decibel Magazine

“Hail the Flesh is a nice, quick, in and out style album. There’s no messing around, there’s no overly extended bridges or songs that overstay their welcome. This is a 9 track album that only spans 34 minutes of constant, hard hitting riffs, blasts, and downright aggressive and dominative vocals. Even the final track on the album, “Ephemeral”, which nearly reaches 7 minutes in play time feels fresh the whole way through. ” – Metal Injection

“an album that really has a surprisingly wide range within the black/thrash/punk style so if you love that sort of black and roll aggressive metal, then “Hail The Flesh” will be an album for you.” – The Rockpit

“Calgary, Canada’s Black Pestilence bring a fresh take to the sound, though. Hail The Flesh, the band’s sixth full-length album is a blackened crossover punk-thrash album. It sounds old school, yet very 2000s at the same time…. Municipal Waste, Impaled Nazarene, Toxic Holocaust fans take notice.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“They really don’t have another gear beyond ‘top’ which makes for a splitting headache of heavy but one that satisfies. After all there are only 9 tracks and as Godless spits and snarls, Frauds to the Throne exudes filthy groove, My Will to Power rages hard and Ephemeral drags the suffering out, the over-riding thought is Black Pestilence have impressed.” 8/10 – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Honestly, anyone with the remotest interest in Black ‘n’ Thrash, Black ’n’ Roll or even just plain old Thrash is going to love this album. It is a blisteringly addictive listen. The skilfully fluid ways that all these genres are melded is both brilliant and compelling as well as being lyrically inspiring.” – MetalTalk.net

“First things first, it’s not every day you hear black metal as fun as this! That is partly because of the exciting thrash and not-so-serious punk influences, but also because the songwriting is very strong. ” 4/ 5 – The Independent Voice

“dirty, punky Black/Thrash that occasionally makes feedback noises and consistently slaughters everything in its path.” 4/5 – The Metal Crypt

“Hail The Flesh fast heavy hit the pit punch you in the throat speed death metal madness.” – Ripple Music

“They can smash extremely well, and their blend of black metal aesthetic with punk attitude is a perfect fit ” – 4/5 – Deaf Sparrow

“a musical union of black / thrash & punk that just rock ROCK! I give 9 out of 10 Hellfire points” – Hellfire Magazin

“Bringing a sonic assault to listeners…..” – Permafrost Today

“The infusion of punk attitude into black and thrash metal seems almost natural at times, but few carry it off with such a sense of melody and catchiness as Black Pestilence. Their heady mix of 80s skate thrash, punk attitude and a black metal sheen allows ‘Hail the Flesh’ to be an album that you’ll still be humming in 6 months time. Superb” – The Killchain Blog

“This album just fucking rocks, it’s an absolute blast. The riffs are raging, loud, and in your face, the bass lines are groovy and lighting fast. The evil screamed vocals talk of Satanism and giving into life’s many vices with no shame. This is complete with sweet black metal blastbeats galore. If you’re looking to cut loose with a kickass metal record, absolutely throw this on.” Zax Record Reviews

Fantasy Metal WARLOCK A.D. – New Video “The Golden Showers of Prestønia”

Sophomore Album “Book II: The Valley of Vâgené” Out Sept 2024 via Rockshots Records

The time has come! 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐊 𝐀.𝐃.‘s sophomore album “Book II: The Valley of Vâgené” is set to be released on September 27th, 2024 from Rockshots Records.

Over two years in the making, this entry into the WarlocK A.D. saga is bigger, thicker, and more powerful than anything they have brought you before! The album is 12 tracks of interwoven musical storytelling implementing the use of motifs, themes, and callbacks. From the sweeping orchestral movements of “The Golden Showers of Prestønia” to the frantic folk metal flavorings of “Rothgar Warsong”, the album combines the sound and styles of various iterations of orchestra-led melodic metal – culminating in what feels like a fully-fledged D&D style epic told through the medium of a Heavy Metal Musical. Recommended for fans of Nanowar of Steel, Angus McSix, and Beast in Black, the quest to The Valley of Vâgené continues with the single “The Golden Showers of Prestønia”.

“The title is a clear double entendre, the single is a cautionary tale detailing the events that follow Whiteacre’s failure to heed the advice of the wise wizard Horatus – do not touch the water! One of the more traditional power metal style tracks on the album, the intensity of the track ebbs and flows as the danger of the forbidden waters becomes more and more apparent – leading to a frantic race against time for Ahriman Cullblade to save the endangered Nomad. This track was actually heavily inspired by the track “Burn” by Deep Purple – which also details the story of a dangerous female presence – something which can be heard especially in the song’s post-solo section. The track also evokes a traditional symphonic metal feel through the use of the duet vocals between Whiteacre and Uriña the Siren (as performed by Dani Bentham of Wailing Banshee).” adds the band.

World On Alert, from Montreal, Canada, is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Gino LaPosta, and excitedly they are announcing the release of the compelling new single “Freedom in Disguise”, which is the second introduction to the debut self-titled EP that is coming out on June 28, 2024. This track features the exceptional talents of Max Rex (CroMagnum), and Nick Amalfi who join LaPosta and guitarist Alex Walsh. LaPosta comments on the single:

“Musically, this one is a heavy track with a soft middle that builds up to the heavy end again. You can hear some proggy Rush/Dream Theater/Tool vibes in there. Lyrically it is about standing up to the elites trying to control our lives and disguising it in freedom.”

LaPosta explains that this work is essentially a solo effort with some help from talented friends and Walsh’s guitar work on “Freedom in Disguise” adds a distinct energy and depth to the track. His contributions, along with the dynamic vocals from Rex and Amalfi, make this single a standout piece in the upcoming EP.

An act that had risen during the pandemic, LaPosta found solace in his studio, crafting riffs and lyrics. Collaborating with friends and family on this recording was a deeply fulfilling experience for him and it reflects their collective effort and synergy. It is recommended for fans of Rush, Tool, and Fates Warning.

ANCIENT ENTITIES Unleashes Debut Tech Death Album “Echoes of Annihilation”

Debut Album Out On WormHoleDeath Records

L-R – Live Lineup – Luke Veranth – Bass, Bernardo Mendia – Drums, Brian Gulliford – Vocals, Alex Rausa – Guitar, Jake Falk – Guitar

Ancient Entities, coming from Milwaukee, USA, are pleased to announce the release of their debut album “Echoes Of Annihilation” on WormHolDeath Records. The nine-track album is a mythical sonic odyssey with each song offering a unique glimpse into the past. From the burning of Rome in “Empire In Ashes” to the creation of the human race in “Creatures Of the Sand”, Ancient Entities masterfully capture the essence of ancient history through sound. They comment on the recording process:

“The album took 6 months to produce, mix, and master. The legendary Wjotec Wieslawski from Hertz Recording made sure we got our best work on track and did not compromise when it came to making a perfect album. We recorded here in the States at multiple studios and Hertz mixed and mastered the album. We wanted to work with Wjotec ‘cause he produced some of our favorite bands growing up such as Behemoth, Decapitated, and Hate. In our opinion, he helped create a masterpiece of an album and we hope everyone else thinks so too.”

The album artwork was made by Burns who handles most of the artwork for the band. It combines different pyramids that are cinematic, but still very obvious that this is a death metal; album. Listeners who dig into the album will find there is a refreshing mix of styles of death metal – modern, old school, and some sounds in between genres. Over the last two years of playing and testing out local markets, Ancient Entities is confident that their massive sound will be well received by all fans of metal old and new. They are recommended listening for fans of Blood Red Throne, Nile, and Aeon.

“Ancient Entities are not just a random band name, but a state of mind on Echoes Of Annihilation. They go back in history to when Mayans and Aztecs reigned, where the idea of a person being tied to a stake and burned alive while wearing a flammable vest was not a plot point to a B-level horror film. Mummification, the burning of Roman civilization and sacrificial cannibalism are just some of the subjects explored with turbulent death metal.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“”Echoes of Annihilation ” it is a solid and extremely flowing platter, full of inspired moments and cared for in almost all its aspects… it’s a really good hit in the teeth!” – Metal.it

““Hidden,” is a snarling, thrashing menace. A song that brings the burrowing of time to forment the great beyond.” – The Median Man

“The band’s mission is clear: to transport listeners to ancient times, capturing the essence of historical narratives through their relentless music, its enveloping atmosphere and crushing riffs.” – Broken Tomb Magazine

“ANCIENT ENTITIES plays in a real frenzy, especially in the last third, literally overturns modern, yet old-school Death Metals at the constant demonstration and has not had a single song in your pocket until the end that you want to skip for any reason. So you can congratulate the boys on a proper first performance, who wonderfully bridges the gap between classic and contemporary death lead and sends a clear signal here and there, especially when it comes to brutality. Even if the gruesome artwork suggests bad things: “Echoes Of Annihilation” is a really cool death metal disc!” – PowerMetal.de

“Ancient Entities with Echoes of Annihilation, this is a Milwaukee band that really focuses in on how to balance technical death metal while still making it listenable for the non-tech death fans out there. They know how to do some fretboard gymnastics. They definitely know how to play across the drum kit but it’s also something that doesn’t just go absolutely insane 100% of the time. They know how to write songs, they just know when to show off at the right times and that’s the kind of album I can really be behind. It has a really rich and full production style yet just raw enough to kind of give it a mid-late 90s kind of feel behind it. This is a death metal album that really should be up a lot of people’s alley and if you like the slightest amount of tech death you shall love Ancient Entities.” – Heavy Debriefings

0 Saudi Thrash Metal DUNE’s Lyric Video For “Insidious” Is A Heavy Thrash Trip Through Deep Personal Matters

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 20, 2024

Saudi Thrash Metal DUNE’s Lyric Video For “Insidious” Is A Heavy Thrash Trip Through Deep Personal Matters

New EP “Years Of Chains” Out Now!

Thrash fans take note and get ready to dive into the dark and groovy tones of “Insidious” with the latest lyric video from the Saudi trash outfit DUNE. The track comes from the band’s recently released debut EP “Years Of Chains” released this past May. This composition is a showcase of the band’s unique approach to music – chainsaw-heavy guitars, chunky bass slaps, and highly technical drums, all underscored by aggressive vocals. The band comments on the EP, which has been a long time coming:

“Years of Chains” is an EP that we wrote years ago but didn’t get a chance to properly record due to multiple difficulties that came our way, after years we have chosen a list of the songs from the originals we have for the EP. The recording process was fun yet we looked for perfection to make the songs as we imagined them with the best quality that we could make.”

“Insidious” delves into themes around culture, urban legends, and personal issues, reflecting the depth and versatility of DUNE‘s lyrical and musical expression. As the band continues to redefine the boundaries of modern metal, “Insidious” promises to be a standout moment on the EP.

Known for their unique fusion of Thrash Metal with Djent, Nu Metal, Oriental, and Groove Metal influences, DUNE‘s sound is a sonic journey that defies traditional genre boundaries. The band’s resurrection in 2021 has been met with immense enthusiasm from both loyal fans who witnessed their early years and new listeners hungry for a fresh, powerful sound. They are recommended for fans of Pantera, Metallica, and Korn.

“Galloping thrash metal from Saudi Arabia, Refuge is taken from Dune’s first ever EP, Years Of Chains, which arrives next month. Incredibly, 2024 marks the twentieth anniversary of Dune’s formation, so whether you’ve been into them for a while or are new to their particular brand of noise, there’s no bad time to get on board. Refuge may be a little rough around the edges, but there’s no arguing with those riffs!”- Metal Hammer

“There is a moment during “Years of Chains” where Dune vocalist Samer Nakhala lets fly with a scream which could have been lifted from any mid-90s Slayer recording. Elsewhere throughout this four-track effort, Dune takes you on a trip combining old-school and modern thrash metal. Like the scream, you can pick out plenty of influences such as Pantera and Slayer throughout these eighteen minutes while lyrically, the band explore a world of dark thoughts and aggression. All combined, “Years of Chains” is a veritable feast of punchy thrash for those who like to bang their hands.” – V13.net

““Sieve,” the opening track builds suspense and fills the listener with a sense of foreboding. Directing the chaotic edge into the whirlwind.” – The Median Man

The single is a cross-section of influences from classical music to Radiohead, to musical theatre, while still stepping heavily into the band’s love of more contemporary progressive metal and they comment:

“Fragility is where the first real cracks in the protagonist’s psyche begin to form. The man awakens one morning remembering nothing but violence, and yet his wife lays sleeping peacefully next to him and nothing is out of place. He begins to wonder if he has had a vision of death, and whether it was his death or hers that he saw, and fears that the worst has yet to come. Musically, the song is a blend of classical orchestration, art rock sensibilities, and heavy riffs.”

In the single, The Aphelion wanted to capture the essence of vulnerability that we all experience. “Fragility” is a testament to the beauty and strength found in our weakest moments. To them, it’s a track that resonates on a deeply personal level, both musically and lyrically. As part of the “Nascence” album, it serves as a crucial piece in the overarching narrative that explores themes of philosophy and the human condition.

The intrepid group of Evan Haydon-Selkirk (lead vocals, bass guitar, keyboard), James Cabral (guitar, keyboard), Tyler Davis (guitar, backing vocals), and Nathanael Livingstone (drums, percussion) have cemented their place in the Canadian progressive metal scene through nearly a decade of intense collaboration and dynamic live performances. They are recommended listening for fans of Leprous, Opeth and Between the Buried and Me.

Watch “Fragility” via its premiere on Ghost Cult Magazine HERE.

Gigantum, a dynamic new force in the Los Angeles, USA, heavy music scene, is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of their debut self-titled album full of dirty tuneage that will attract the ears of anyone into heavy rock n’ roll. Kicking off this exciting journey is their first single “Monkey King” based on the legend of the famous Chinese figure Sun Wukong. Vocalist/bassist Mia X shares the backstory of how the track came to be:

“Mark was telling me about this monkey that ate the sun which I found intriguing and wanted to learn more about, so I started looking up monkeys in Chinese mythology and found out about this compelling monkey with a very wild story that went on for centuries who is known as Sun Wukong. So I wrote all these lyrics for him and guess what? Wrong monkey. I’m glad that I stumbled upon him though. A very interesting deity.”

Musically, the band explains, they envisioned “royalty” when creating the bridge to go with the vibe of Sun Wukong and turned it into a rock n’ roll stomper. It was the first song they wrote together and it set the stage for what the band would become.

The band, comprising seasoned musicians Mia X, BlareNBitch, Mark Lüntzel, and Chase Manhattan, promises to deliver a heavy, yet creatively expansive sound that puts a new spin on rock n’ roll. Each song on the album tells its own story and takes you somewhere different. Gigantum invites listeners to embark on the first leg of this musical adventure. It is recommended for fans of Black Sabbath, Clutch, and Fu Manchu.

EPK – Gigantum – Self-Titled (2024)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“Each song tells its own story and takes you some place different. They have their own personality. The album’s listening experience takes you on a journey. We are trying to shake the foundation and rattle the windows.” – Gigantum

For fans of Iron Blanket, Black Sabbath, Clutch, Fu Manchu, Mastodon, Red Fang

Gigantumband.bandcamp.com | Apple Music |  Spotify

“It’s wide ranging heavy music odyssey that spans six hefty heavy rock tracks on ‘Gigantum’ (2024)” – Doomed & Stoned

“Gigantum have released a no-hold barred “NO FUCKS GIVEN” attitude that will no doubt strike a chord with the jaded Doom/Stoner Metal fan currently out there. Excellent and Highly Recommended.” – Outlaws of the Sun

“With a flair for the dramatic, Gigantum has a no-nonsense approach to writing and riffing, yet remains free of pretension that fouls up a lot of modern bands with retro influences. This is only the beginning for this band! Jam out Gigantum to 11 and burn one right now!” – Ghost Cult Magazine

“Gigantum’ is an impressive debut that showcases the band’s ability to traverse different musical territories while maintaining a cohesive and powerful sound. With each track telling its own story, GIGANTUM crafts a listening experience that is both diverse and deeply rooted in heavy rock tradition. This album is a must-listen for fans of bands like Black Sabbath, Clutch, and Fu Manchu who crave a mix of crushing riffs, heavy grooves, and dynamic vocals.8.5/10″ – Infrared Magazine

“If you can imagine a slightly more psychedelic variety of classic era Black Sabbath that has been given a little bit of a punk attitude and expression then you should have a fair general idea of what to expect from this album. An album I suspect quite a few who tend to enjoy vintage era doom metal might find to be an interesting experience.” – Viking in the Wilderness

“That sort of plot is perfect for a stoner jam like “Necron99,” the closer to their self-titled debut album. There’s a good deal of jamming going on in this album” – Heavy Music HQ

“the group from Los Angeles chooses many unconventional methods and also reveals exciting things here.” – PowerMetal.de

“All experienced musicians, this is the work of a fully-fledged group that is ready for anything. But as for “Monkey King,” for all its doom-laden, Sabbath jamming on Fu Manchu chic, it’s a band that will do things on its own terms. Mia X is capable of whipping up a frenzy, and “For All My Friends” has something truly unsettling about it. If the album as a whole feels like heavy psych and melody are engaged in a battle to the death, then never is that better shown than on the fabulous “Forever Dreaming.”… with this self-titled statement, Gigantum are laying down a big marker. 8/10″ – Maximum Volume Music

“ an energetic hard rock record with a couple of very good doom songs. Recommended.” – Flying Fiddle Sticks

“Groovin’ stoner/doom” – The Moshpit 89.9FM (Madison, WI)

About The Album Artwork

Mia: I envisioned a lot of speakers just blasting out Gigantum and that is how the artwork came to be.

About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

Blare: The album starts off straight forward and powerful. Some songs really take you on hills and valleys and other songs that are straight forward. It ends on a heavy note with Necron99

Chase: The album musically, I would say all the songs collectively work together. Each song definitely has its own unique sound, but all fit under the same umbrella so to speak. I think we’re not afraid of any one idea or concept and it’ll all end up sounding like us.

Mark: Mélange of styles – Heaviness and heavy riffs in conjunction with softer, emotional sequences.

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

Mia: Monkey King – lyrically – About the Chinese trixter deity called Sun Wukong.

Blare: Envisioned “royalty” when creating the bridge to go with the vibe of Sun Wukong.

Mark: Musically Is a rocknroll stomper

For All My Friends
Mia and Blare:
Is more poppy with a bit of anger behind it. It jams out all the emotion. It’s about losing friends either purposely or through misunderstanding or death and the complicated feelings that go along with that.

Mark: Musically, is groovy, foot tapping fun.

Forever Dreaming
Mark:
Galloping through an uneven landscape of sounds and intensity. Lyrically – is a deeply personal story that is symbolic if left up to the listener.

Brain Haze –
Mia and Blare: Lyrically – Being stressed that your brain no longer works and is on fire.

Blare: Musically – envisioned what it would sound like to be emotionally in a black hole and then finding peace.

Mark: Musically, It’s like rocknroll disco

Rock Box –
Mia: lyrically – Loving music and playing. Not wanting to be defined musically and doing it because it’s what we love.

Blare: Musically – it’s our ode to punk rock Gigantum style going 100mph.

Mark: Is a swift kick in the ass.

Necron99 –
Mia: This was inspired by the 1977 animated movie, WIZARDS. It’s a very interesting concept and a lot of the themes are still very current for today.

Blare: Lyrically, It has a very doomy industrial feel that doesn’t end well. Musically – it’s very heavy and doomy.

Mark: Musically, it’s a heavy repetitive journey into darkness.

===================================================

STORY ANGLES

Mia: A lot of the songs are about conversations that we have at practice. Necron99 came about when Mark told us about this movie he was really into and wanted us to check out called, WIZARDS. After watching it, I went down a rabbit hole to learn more and when he started playing the riff that is now Necron99, I started thinking about the importance of what the movie was portraying.

Brain Haze came about when Blare and I were talking about how the mind’s pathways are affected when the brain is on the fritz. Having consciousness during a really hard time, it becomes like a dream where you are disassociated and know what is happening, but you are a passenger in your own life.

Sun Wukong came about because Mark had come over after to my place after yoga and was telling me about this monkey that ate the sun that I guess they talked about during the session. I found that intriguing and wanted to learn more, so I started looking up monkeys in Chinese mythology and found out about this compelling monkey with a very wild story that went on for centuries who is known as Sun Wukong. So I wrote all these lyrics for him and guess what? Wrong monkey. I’m glad that I stumbled upon him though. A very interesting deity.

Mark: All of the band members find the work that we do on this project as therapeutic and healing. We hope that these qualities come through in our music and that the listener can feel our honesty and help them in some way.

===================================================

FUN FACTS:

Mia is an herbalist, makes her own teas and works at a witchcraft shop in Burbank called The Crooked Path.

Blare is a left-handed musician and has a degree in world music. She can play the sitar!

Chase has 8 drum sets and over 80 snare drums and will not share any of it with anyone.

Mark is a vegan mountain man that makes his own hot sauce.

They all love pets.

Mark has 2 cats, 2 turtles, various fish and a bearded dragon that he also has a tattoo of.

Mark speaks basic Japanese and wants the band to tour there next year.

We tend to laugh a lot at practice. We crack each other up and in actuality, we are comedians pretending to be musicians.

TRAUMATOMY’s “Womb Of The Desecrated” Satisfies The Urge For Brutal Slam

New Album “Triumph of Enslavement” Out July 2024 via Gore House Productions

Regurgitated in 2012, the international slam band Traumatomy aggressively marches forward with their ninth album “Triumph of Enslavement”, coming out July 5, 2024. The second single “Womb Of The Desecrated” is out now, and coupled with the first single “Consumed Into Nothing” they provide a glimpse of the brutal music that can be expected in the EP. The band comments on the single which will stand out amongst the other tracks:

“This may be the most groovy track on the album. For fans of true slamming brutal death metal. It’s very different from the previous single in that it’s more groove-heavy, which shows that we can find a different approach to composing and structuring music.”

“Womb Of The Desecrated” epitomizes the essence of Traumatomy‘s sound: slammy, primitive, crushing, gnarly, and brutal. The new EP promises to be faster, more brutal, and rawer than ever before, solidifying Traumatomy’s status in the brutal death metal genre.

Known for their coordinated and intense stage presence, Traumatomy’s live shows are a testament to their charisma and professionalism. With numerous live videos available on YouTube, fans can witness the band’s ferocity and precision firsthand. “We will make slam music till we die” they declare, embodying their uncompromising commitment to their craft. They are recommended for fans of Cerebral Incubation, PeelingFlesh, and Epicardiectomy.

“Well, this is short and sweet at just over 15 minutes. Triumph of Enslavement is a nice little (tiny?) slab of brutal death metal that opens up with a mid-paced but heavy, crushing intro before swerving in a faster, but no less heavy, death metal onslaught. They do slow down, sometimes almost to a crawl, but the crushing heaviness is omnipresent, clickety drums included (OK, that has nothing to do with heaviness, but you do get the clickety drums). The growls are deep, deeper than I usually like, but they’re a perfect fit for the music here—I wouldn’t see a different style working quite as well. It’s dark, it feels like the weight of the world going through your ears, and sometimes that’s just what you need.” – The Metal Crypt

«There is a consistent groove throughout each song which either features slow, dragging parts where the focus is on the slams, or faster parts in which the riffs and drumming get a lot more technical and intense» – Angelusmortem

«Musically, Traumatomy’s style is very similar to Abominable Putridity, Visceral Disgorge, Party Cannon and Epicardiectomy since the songs have that groovy aesthetic but this time, they’ve bring more depth in their sound since every song doesn’t feel the same as it keeps the melodics, tempos, arrangements and style feel its welcomed and for that, I truly feel this is the best Traumatomy album they’ve done to date» – Metalpurgatorymedia

«You want absolute bestial brutality? You’ve got it!» – Bloodynews.ro
