Exclaim! Exclusive Video Premiere: Sask’s BONFIRE ‘Mom’s Garden’ + New EP Out Now!

Saskatchewan’s post-hardcore outfit Bonfire are teaming up with Exclaim! Magazine to exclusively premiere their new music video ‘Mom’s Garden’, the title track from their new EP that was released on October 2nd plus was produced and mastered by Karl Shubach from Misery Signals.

The video showcases a beautifully lit room that matches the warmth coming from the band performing ‘Mom’s Garden.’ There is little to no eye contact for the duration of the video to enhance the melancholic atmosphere portrayed in the lyrics and tone of the song. The band is bringing their signature brand of energetic yet somber movement that embodies their post-hardcore, folk-infused music.

“Thank you to Exclaim! for hosting the premiere of our music video ‘Mom’s Garden’ the title track of our debut EP. The video was directed by the talented Dylan Hryciuk of Versa Films. The video captures the sombre tone of the music and lyrics through a warm colour palette, as well as depicts the intensity and emotion of our live performances through quick and creative cinematography. We couldn’t be happier to share it and deeply encourage you to check it out. This release has meant the world to us, and we are unbelievably excited to finally release it!” – Kurt Wolfe (Drums)

‘Mom’s Garden’ can be watched at the following link: http://exclaim.ca/Music/article/bonfire-moms_garden_video

Bonfire are giving the option to fans to purchase ‘Mom’s Garden’ as pay what you want on their bandcamp page here – http://bonfiresk.bandcamp.com.

1. Snow Crest

2. Mom’s Garden

3. What About Your Girl

4. A Darker Shade of Grey

Album Credits: All song, written and performed by Bonfire, Produced and mastered by Karl Shubach

Album Line Up: Greg Demers (Guitar/Vocals), James Wojak (Guitar), Thomas Gelley (Bass), Kurt Wolfe (Drums)

Biography:

Bonfire creates dark, honest music painted through sorrowful lyrics and a haunting guitar tone. The four piece hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and features members of Hhogwash and other local bands from the hardcore scene.

Lyrically Greg Demers (guitar/vocals) draws from family issues, relationships, and in general low points in life to compose an image for listeners. Thomas Gelley (Bass) and James Wojak (guitar) generate the resonating instrumentals while Kurt Wolfe (drums) drives the songs forward.

Despite the emotional lyrics and dreary instrumentals their passion and energy on stage is explosive, yet sombre. Bonfire started in 2012 and since then has released Adderall (demo) and a split with Newborn last year.

The band is releasing ‘Mom’s Garden’ Fri., Oct. 2, along with a fall tour across Eastern Canada.

“Though they’ve been dropping songs online over the past couple weeks, and will be putting more up over the next few as well, getting people hyped about a new album they have coming out. Bread from Flipper and Low, The Melvins and Harvey Milk, if this is the future of Hardcore, or Post-Hardcore, or whatever genre people are calling it, I need to check out more shows.” – Deadcitypress.ca

About:

Started as a recording project in the late 90’s, it wasn’t until 2001 that the work ethic that produced a slew of underground releases drove Fuck The Facts towards full band status and into the live arena. Since then, the Ottawa-based unit has barely stopped for a breath of reconsideration, associating themselves with some of the biggest labels in underground extreme music, as well as continuing a steady output of DIY releases. Having toured hundreds of thousands of kilometers throughout North America and Europe, guitarist/founder Topon Das, vocalist Mel Mongeon, drummer Mathieu Vilandré, bassist/vocalist Marc Bourgon, and guitarist Johnny Ibay have performed at some of the biggest festivals and sweated it out in some of the smallest basements. From 2006-2011 Fuck The Facts released three albums via underground powerhouse label, Relapse Records.  Upon the completion of their contract, the quintet decided it was time to put the finishing touches on the proverbial full-circle, returning to the world of fierce independence and creative control. Their most recent releases were produced entirely at their own studio, self-released, and shows Fuck The Facts efforts as an entity continuing to grow musically and personally while developing a deeper understanding of what significance their art holds to them. As one of the longest running and most recognizable names in Canadian Grindcore, FUCK THE FACTS continue to deliver their brand of “Bastardized Grindcore” with no end in sight.

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. What started as a backyard party in 2009 with nothing but eleven local metal bands such as Terrifier, Xul and Odinfist to name a few, has grown into a a huge success admired by the Western Canadian Metal scene. 2016 will be the eighth year of the festival and is planned to be the largest year for music and attendance yet. This year’s team of organizers known as the West Metal Entertainment Society is the most dedicated to date and are excited to present an incredible line up along with some changes to come for AMF 2016.
