NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 12, 2024

Pakistan’s Death Metal Nightmare AZAAB Announces Canadian Tour In May With New Lineup

Azaab, the Islamabad-based death metal act, is thrilled to announce their upcoming Canadian tour in May 2024. The tour comes in the wake of significant lineup changes within the band, presenting a fresh chapter for Azaab.

Following the departure of their original vocalist, who moved to Saudi Arabia for work, and their bassist preparing for relocation, Azaab faced the challenge of finding new members in the midst of a serious shortage of death metal musicians in Pakistan. Fortunately, through a connection from a common friend, the band discovered Hassan Munir, a talented vocalist, and Sid, a skilled bassist, both based in Toronto, Canada. The introduction marked the beginning of a new era for Azaab. They share their excitement for the upcoming tour:

“After much planning and anticipation, we’re excited to announce that we will be hitting the road across Canada this May! Canada seemed like the obvious choice for our first tour since 2 out of 4 band members are based in Canada. Tyson Blaste (Plague. Becomes Astral, ex-Grindmother, ex-TheApex) is filling in on drums for this tour which makes it 3/5. I think it’s safe to say that the Azaab HQ has moved from Islamabad to Ontario. Other than that Canada has an amazing metal scene and we couldn’t be happier with playing live there.”

Azaab‘s latest album “Summoning The Cataclysm” released in 2022 on Satanath Records (Georgia), Maxima Music Pro (Indonesia), and on cassette from Tikoes Kecemploeng Prods (Indonesia) features guests Bobby Koelble (Death), Phil Tougas (First Fragment), Nick Mkhl (Sic Semper Tyrannis, Kepler, Brutal-Sphere) and Aissam El Hassani (Vile Utopia).

Showcasing their distinctive style that straddles the boundaries between old school and technical, melodic, and brutal, the album’s lyrical themes cover a wide range of topics, including horror, politics, human nature, the end of days, war, and sci-fi. Those with an interest in Morbid Angel, Vader, and Death should definitely plan to make one of their tour dates (listed below).

“Summoning The Cataclysm” is available on Azaab.bandcamp.com, and Spotify.

EPK – The Order of The Precious Blood – Cheaper But Will Do (2024)

Publicist – Jon Asher jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“We think our fans will enjoy this new single. It combines a lot of elements that we are already known for, just pushed a little bit further. This song has been a part of our live set for a couple of months now and we’re excited to give our fans a recorded version that they can learn the words to and sing along with at shows, which is always awesome for us.

Get wrapped up in the chaotic emotion of the song. It moves from section to section fairly quickly and it’s also under 2 minutes, so ultimately we want to grab the attention of the audience in a very intense way for a short time and give them an experience they want to revisit again and again. Cheaper But Will Do takes you through a strange, abstract journey, even if it is a short one.” – The Order of The Precious Blood

“From the rocky shores of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada comes a blood ceremony, an unholy sacrament of the wicked riff. The Order of the Precious Blood congregates to bask in the red glow and immense power of heavy fucking metal” – Decibel Magazine

“I’m downright flabbergasted by the quality of this EP. I’ve come back to it time and time again. It’s got a distinct sound, it’s got variety, it’s got great songwriting, and top of the line production. If this is what The Order of the Precious Blood is starting out with then consider me a devout follower of the cult. I can’t wait to hear what these guys produce next. If you haven’t listened to this EP yet, do yourself a favour and get on that.” – HeavyNFLD

About The Single Artwork

The artwork is an abstract art piece that depicts the hallucinatory world of chaos and darkness that is discussed in the lyrics of the song Cheaper But Will Do. A hooded skeletal figure offering you an unknown object or substance, as you walk closer to accept the offer, the figure’s face becomes a terrifying kaleidoscope spinning around you.

About The Single (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Musically the song is equal parts lightning fast hardcore punk and searing noisy dissonance, with aggressive emotive vocals that spew venom straight to the listeners face. The lyrics describe a bleak landscape where we must all purchase our own versions of the “drugs” that are cheaper than we would like, but nonetheless, they will have to do. After dragging the listener through the darkness, the lyrics challenge you to “maintain existence now”.

STORY ANGLES

1. The Order of the Precious Blood attempts to build a world that incorporates music, but with other esoteric elements that border on cult-like. The Order of the Precious Blood have been known to pass out pamphlets at their shows with subject matter regarding the evolution of human consciousness and the mysteries of the universe.

2. The Order of the Precious Blood has been known to reach their fans by way of analog viral marketing. They have left clues and prizes in the form of secret “drops” that may happen at other shows or local businesses or even left in public places. Prizes or clues can range from free cover or merchandise for dedicated fans, or creepy mystery items.

3. When The Order of the Precious Blood filmed their “Bastard! Rejoice! Live in the Basement” video which is available on the bands instagram, they filmed it in their old rehearsal space where singer Paul Brake used to live. Paul went to his local Wal-Mart and purchased every set of black curtains they had in stock for the set of the video, and returned them after they were finished. Some unsuspecting people have curtains that were used in our video hanging in their home. Also a great way to save money!

4. The Order of the Precious Blood have worked with local horror movie production company Grind Mind and have participated in their yearly film festival two years in a row. They have left secret drops at this festival, have performed at the opening ceremony, and have had spooky viral marketing appear in the programs handed out over the weekend festival.

5. The Order of the Precious Blood have made a habit of taking promotional pictures in various abandoned places in Newfoundland. From abandoned pig farms to abandoned hospitals, they make an effort to bring the element of horror by taking you inside these often spooky places.

FUN FACTS

1. Nominated for a MusicNL local award for Loud Artist of the Year, and are scheduled to showcase at the ECMA week in PEI in May 2024.

2. The Order of the Precious Blood have handed out pamphlets and what they called “hymn books” that were DIY printed with the bands lyrics for their set as a way to engage with their audience.

3. Paul’s old band RocketRocketShip had played with Barry and Adam’s old band Release the Hounds many times in the past, and Release the Hounds even beat RocketRocketShip in a battle of the bands.

Precious Blood’s frenetic style can best be described as a horror movie come to life: relentless, punishing and claustrophobic, wielding a jagged dissonance while incorporating an unexpected brew of experimental and pop songwriting techniques. The Order of The Precious Blood is a blackened hardcore punk band comprised of frontman Paul Brake (RocketRocketShip, Wastecase), guitarists Cameron Legge (Slowpoke, Anoxia) and Barry O’Keefe (Release the Hounds), bassist Ben Chapman-Smith (Slowpoke, Head Loss) and drummer Adam Hearn (Release the Hounds, Faster Than Felix).

Canada’s premier melodic and power metal festival HYPERSPACE Metal Fest announces the addition of Edmonton thrashers TYMO and Vancouver melodeath KAYAS to their lineup to replace Tylor Dory Trio and Sleepership on day 1 of the event on April 11th at The Wise Hall!

Hyperspace Metal Festival returns for its 5th edition after selling out its first two of three nights during its 2023 event. Their forthcoming 2024 lineup is their most epic to date to be hosted from April 11th to 13th in Vancouver, BC at Wise Hall and Rickshaw Theatre. The lineup will feature headliners Týr, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Skeletor along with additions of Trollfest, The Dread Crew of Oddwood to join Ather Realm, Iron Kingdom, and more out of the 15 bands performing over the three nights.

Festival organizer Joey Hockin of Journeyman Productions adds:

“Here we go with another Hyperspace Metal Festival, and this is the biggest one yet! I feel like this is a dream lineup for us, one that we’ve been working towards since the inception of the festival! Unfortunately, Transgressive has had to drop out of the lineup. We hope to have them in 2025! We couldn’t have come nearly this far without the incredible support we’ve received from the power metal community. So, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN! See you in April!”

Hailing from the Faroe Islands, Týr has been performing Viking and folk metal since first forming in 1998. The band will be supporting their upcoming 2024 album “Battle Ballads” being released by Metal Balde Records. The album follows their 2022 live record “A Night at the Nordic House” and their eighth full-length “Hel” (2019). Music Video – “Ragnars Kvæði” – https://youtu.be/Us-NTwC3vOM

Legends in their own right, Phoenix, AZ’s Flotsam and Jetsam have been rumbling thrash around the world since their beginnings in the early 80s’ touring alongside every heavyweight known in metal. They have released fourteen studio albums in their career, with the latest being 2021’s Blood in the Water (AFM Records). No filler, all killer, “Blood in the Water” is once again mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (U.D.O., Volbeat, Amaranthe, Powerwolf) and sees Flotsam and Jetsam exploding with creativity, moving forward but nodding to their past. Watch their music video “Brace For Impact” – https://youtu.be/BSG9CLAH5Wc

Seattle, WA’s Skelator are all speed and no need for posers with their epic heavy and thrash metal spirit conquering fans for 20 years. Over the span of their career, they have shared with fans six full-lengths and two EPs, their latest “Blood Empire” was released in 2022 from Gates of Hell Records. Music Video – “Good Day To Die” – https://youtu.be/flltOMjU80Y

From Oslo, Norway, pioneers of true Norwegian Balkan Metal, Trollfest are all fun, with titles such as “All Drinks On Me”, “Piña Colada” “Twenty Mile and Hour” and “Flamingo Libre” among many many more from their 10 album discography. Their latest ‘Flamingo Overlord’ (Napalm Records) was released in 2022. The band makes sure their tracks have the highest possible singalong factor and are guaranteed to make you stomp your feet and sing yourself hoarse while sharing the best of times with your finest friends. Music Video – “All Drinks On Me ft. Jonne Järvelä from Korpiklaani” – https://youtu.be/S4bV4RDgkSI

The Dread Crew of Oddwood is an acoustic pirate band from San Diego, CA. They play a combination of folk music, heavy metal, and traditional Celtic music. The band performs using only traditional and acoustic instruments, including the accordion, mandolin, tin whistle, bouzouki, toy piano, and stand-up bass. They have unleashed four self-released albums, their latest being “Lawful Evil” (2016). Lyric Video – Raise Your Pints – https://youtu.be/P_ZEl3zT6qA

Hailing from Greenville, North Carolina’s Æther Realm is set to unleash their blend of melodic death metal and folk metal, with lyrical themes of fantasy and mythology. They are joined by festival alumni local Vancouver heavy metal warriors Iron Kingdom, who have been touring hard for their new and fifth album “The Blood Of Creation” (Music Video – Queen of The Crystal Throne – https://youtu.be/YyhEutgL9gI). The Metal Temple has described them as “A distinctively distinguished experience in Heavy Metal… an injection in infectiously venomous momentum most definitely deserves interest – do check it out.” Making their first appearance at HMF will be Borealis, a power/progressive metal band from Orangeville, Ontario. Their latest album “Illusions” has gotten praise from across the metal community, My Global Mind has stated “Borealis have proven themselves to be one of the most consistent bands when it comes to producing excellent dark power/prog metal, and this album is no exception, standing as possibly their best work to date. Longtime fans should be very pleased with this album, and newcomers are highly recommended to start with this album.” Other bands joining the lineup will be Odinfist (Okanagan, BC), Naitaka (Kelowna, BC), and Calgary’s Osyron, Syryn and Balrogath.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 8, 2024

Out Now! Australia’s Greystone Canyon Highly Anticipated Second Album “Iron & Oak”

Australian rock sensation Greystone Canyon second album “Iron & Oak” is now available as of March 8th from Rockshots Records. This highly anticipated full-length is the follow-up to their successful 2020 debut “While the Wheels Still Turn”. Known for their unique blend of tone, feel, and honest rock, “Iron & Oak” promises an even more captivating musical journey.

Since their formation in 2015-2016, Greystone Canyon has been committed to delivering a sound that is true to their passion for music. Their sophomore album, a stylistic extension of their debut, aims to capture the essence of who they are as individuals and musicians. The band hopes that fans will embrace the new offering and connect with the music on a deeper level.

Stylistically diverse, “Iron & Oak” features a range of songs, from immediate and catchy tunes to dramatic and epic compositions. The band has incorporated additional instruments, such as 12-string guitar, Hammond organ, strings, and piano, to enhance the listening experience. With a deliberate effort to provide a longer and more immersive album, Greystone Canyon moves away from instrumentals and interludes, presenting back-to-back songs.

The lyrics draw inspiration from various sources, including personal experiences, historical facts, and a shared love for the Wild West. Songs explore themes of reflection on youth, facing adversity, and choosing one’s life path. Greystone Canyon draws from life’s intricacies, weaving them into a tapestry of music that resonates with listeners.

The album’s lead single, “We All Become Yesterday,” showcases the band’s rock roots with a touch of pop influence. The song’s groove, reminiscent of Toto’s “Rosanna,” coupled with a straightforward arrangement and a sing-along chorus, sets the stage for what promises to be an exceptional musical journey.

Reflecting on the evolution of the band’s sound, Greystone Canyon consciously expanded their musical palette, the album aims to encapsulate everything the band loves about music while staying true to their passion.

With “Iron & Oak”, Greystone Canyon invites listeners to join them on a musical exploration that spans the spectrum of their influences. The band hopes that the album will connect with audiences on a profound level, offering a timeless experience that stands the test of time.

The influences that can be heard are Ozzy Osbourne , Led Zeppelin, Megadeth.

Greystone Canyon entrusted the mixing duties to Grammy-nominated producer Glen Robinson (Queensryche / Voivod, etc.), ensuring a masterful blend that accentuates the album’s power while remaining authentic and dynamic.

“Iron & Oak” is now available as of March 8th, 2024 and is available on all major streaming platforms at https://lnk.to/ironandoak and on CD at https://shop.rockshots.eu/en/home/6850-greystone-canyon-iron-oak.html.

The Order of The Precious Blood Unveils Intense, Chaotic Single “Cheaper But Will Do”

Canadian East Coast Tour Dates (NL, NS, PEI)

The Order of The Precious Blood, the blackened hardcore punk band hailing from St John’s Newfoundland, Canada, has two chaotic singles coming out this spring, in rapid succession. The first, “Cheaper But Will Do”, is a relentless two-minute journey that blurs the line between metal and hardcore punk. The single immerses listeners in a whirlwind of chaotic emotions, rapidly transitioning through sections while maintaining an intense and abrasive sound. Vocalist Paul Brake comments on the succinct single:

“It started with me seeing an episode of the 90’s television show Unsolved Mysteries where a crime had taken place and inside the home was this cryptic phrase written on the wall. The episode creeped me out when I first saw it and the phrase always stuck with me and I always kind of thought it could be a title for a song. The lyrics paint a bleak picture of a chaotic world where we’re all doing what we can to survive and in the end challenge you to “maintain existence now”.”

“Cheaper But Will Do” showcases the band’s evolution toward heavier influences, blending elements from death metal and black metal into the hardcore punk landscape. One of the things they pride themselves on is the energy and atmosphere in their live shows. All members are fully engaged with the audience and the music, and they keep an intense connection between them and the people in the crowd. There is wild chaos, creepy sound effects, and a little bit of danger, but ultimately a safe space for everyone to come and express themselves and have a good time. They can be found in the following cities in the coming months listed below:

Show Dates:
April 19 – St John’s, NL – Peter Eastons – 19+ w/ Of The Black, Kaspam Cult, Killer 9000
April 20 – St John’s, NL – Gower Street United Church – All Ages

Known for their frenetic style, The Order of The Precious Blood creates an experience akin to a horror movie come to life – relentless, punishing, and claustrophobic. “Cheaper But Will Do” marries lightning-fast hardcore punk with searing noisy dissonance, accompanied by aggressive and emotive vocals that deliver venom straight to the listener’s face. It is recommended for fans of Converge, Alexisonfire, and Every Time I Die.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 7, 2024

Montreal’s CELL PRESS’ New Album “Cages” Is Merciless, Punishing And Thought Provoking

New Album “Cages” Out March 1st, 2024

Cell Press is a Montreal, Canada-based band that plays a sort of burly noise-rock that leans more on the hardcore and metal side of the swamp. They took their name from the 2001 Russian prison documentary “The Mark Of Cain”. The brutal humanity of that film is reflected in the music… on the surface, it’s raw and punishing, but there are complexities and nuances revealed once the surface noise has been embraced. They now have a full-length album out entitled “Cages” that delivers relentlessly punishing guitars and drums, which they comment on:

“We are trying to offer a full-length album with no filler from start to end and are appealing to our listeners to embrace an almost passe era where bands present collections of songs that are meant to be listened to altogether and that fit and tell a complete story, with each song being individual chapters to that story.”

“Cages” is a collection of songs with different themes and vibes that was written over the span of two years (2021-2022) when the world was changing rapidly as were the personal lives of the band members. Certain peaks and valleys through those years influenced the songs and the songwriting. “Cages” is an angry, gritty unapologetic look at the world through their eyes and expressed through their voices and instrumentation for your ears.

Members of Cell Press have played in a myriad of punk, metal, and hardcore bands such as The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, The Chariot, Animal Ethics, Architect, Swarm Of Spheres, and Angles. “Cages” is recommended for fans of Keelhaul, Burnt By The Sun, and Yautja.

Listen to its full-stream premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

“Cages” is due out on March 8, 2024, via The Ghost Is Clear Records (Vinyl), Ancient Temple Recordings (Vinyl), and No List Records (Cassette) at https://linktr.ee/cellpress and http://cellpress.bandcamp.com.

What the press has said about Cell Press’ 2020 Self-Titled EP:

“From the grooves on “Piss Police” to the odd-timed melodic chords of “Blacked Out in Verdun,” everything moves in unexpected ways. All of this is perfectly set to the backdrop of PQ’s uniquely cackled screams… Cell Press is a great sludge metal EP that reminds the listener of the best aspects of this sub-genre. This EP makes the future appear bright for what is to come from this band. 8/10″ – Exclaim!

“You know that feeling, when you spin a new record for the first time and it just fucking destroys you? Well today I am happy to report, Cell Press outta Montreal have truly delivered the goods with their debut self titled EP. I mean fuck, is it any wonder this band rules, when they can boast members from the likes of The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, Architect. With their self-titled release, Cell Press give zero fucks about accessibility, instead they focus on delivering punishing aggression with a melting pot of sludge metal, noise rock, and grindcore.” – The Sludgelord

“a perfect showcase of their unique sound and style and leaves you wanting to hear more from the band. Their total disregard for the limitations of genres and boundaries results in the EP blending noise, grindcore, sludge, punk, groove and dark ambient among other influences. They perfectly blend raw aggression with groove and melody and aren’t afraid to shift gears to play with ambience and noise.” – Cave Dweller Music

“Warm fuzzy guitar tones bring a touch of the Sabbath to “Piss Police” with broken chords and momentary pauses giving the kind of sound that Raging Speedhorn look for to accompany the rampant venting screams of the vocals that unapologetically roar along during the montage.” – Metal Noise

“Cell Press’s debut self titled EP is definitely an interesting listen. I didn’t expect it to take me on the journey which it did. An aggressive sound runs throughout showing that this band don’t play by the rules, they’re making music the way they want to.” – The Independent Voice

KELEVRA Delivers Aggressive And Melodic Progressive Metal Album “Oneiric”

Formed in 2009 in Regina, Canada, Kelevra continues to supply a serious dose of progressive metal to the masses. With a loyal local fan base cheering them on, they are taking the metal scene by storm with their third album “Oneiric”, set for release on March 8, 2024. Taking us through some of Kelevra’s best work to date, it is thoroughly aggressive yet at times epic and heartfelt. The band comments:

“In general, the album is aggressive musically, yet also very epic and heartfelt at times. The lyrics aim to support this style. Song, meaningful, and personal lyrics demand a powerful and diverse sound that enforces our message and storytelling. With this album, which was both deliberate and coincidental in the writing process, we will be providing listeners with an experience that leaves them on the edge of their seat.”

“Oneiric” takes listeners between ecstatic dreamworlds and traversing through hellscapes of the mind. Exploring these often dichotomous states of relationship and existence; the music and lyrics show Kelevra emerging into a new era of consciousness, yet still serving up the technical precision and ferocious brutality they are known for.

Most of the songs on “Oneiric” have been written and composed by Brett Forst, with lyrical and musical contributions from Matt Fraser and Mat Yarotski. Dylan Dobrescu will take the composed piece and develop/implement percussion ideas. While Adrienne Mahony will generally follow what has been composed, she has always developed each song with bass lines that are unique and complementary to the basic composition.

Taking the listener to a new level of progressive music, “Oneiric” is recommended for fans of Unearth, Gojira, and In Flames.

Listen to the album’s full stream premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Oneiric” is due out on March 8, 2024, and is available for album pre-order at https://kelevrasask.bandcamp.com.

“The music in “Cleanse With Fire” is a true sonic kaleidoscope spinning at high speed. With spidery fingers flying fast, the three dexterous string-benders whose performances you’ll see in the video execute intricate darting and swirling maneuvers with eye-popping aplomb, creating a head-spinning and uplifting listening adventure.” – No Clean Singing

0 Rockshots Records – STORMBORN Unleashes New Video For “Serpentine” Off Upcoming Album “Zenith” Out April 2024

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 7, 2024

STORMBORN Unleashes New Video For “Serpentine” Off Upcoming Album “Zenith” Out April 2024

The slithering earworm sounds of Stormborn‘s power metal force are presented in their latest music video for the single “Serpentine” off their forthcoming album “Zenith” due out this coming April 2024 from Rockshots Records. “Serpentine” is a roaring power metal anthem inspired by The Liveship Traders, a trilogy of fantasy novels by American author Robin Hobb. The song is about a ship possessed by the soul of a dragon and features a guest solo from one-time Stormborn guitarist Dan Smith and showcases the band firing on all cylinders with its high-flying chorus.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Serpentine” at https://youtu.be/-rwScIHewaw

Hailing from Kent, UK, the melodic heavy metal powerhouse of Stormborn draws inspiration from metal titans like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Dio, but still blazes a unique trail of their own in heavy metal, crafting a sound that fuses classic elements with bold, modern innovation. Stormborn isn’t just walking in the footsteps of giants; they’re crafting a new path in heavy metal, dominated by great riffs, a strong melodic backbone, and powerful vocals that you can’t help but sing along to.

The band’s career highlights include supporting Rhapsody of Fire at the Camden Underworld in 2023, winning the 2012 Metal 2 the Masses for London, playing at Bloodstock festival, winning the 2013 Summer Breeze New Blood award, and opening the main stage of Summer Breeze Festival 2013 along with being UK tour support for Dorje as well as Phil X & The Drills.

Their new album “Zenith” showcases an evolution in their songwriting and style, while still retaining that fast, riffy, melodic essence of classic Stormborn. the full-length strikes a balance between growth and familiarity, and they’re optimistic that both their loyal fans and new listeners will find something to appreciate and enjoy.

“While we appreciate heavy and technical elements in music. The album itself was really honed and manicured to be listened to back to back, and intended for the listener to settle down with a pair of good headphones or speakers and get lost in that experience. There’s a lot of intricacy in the composition and mixing that is really only there to emphasize that experience.” adds the band.

“Zenith” is due out on April 26th, 2024 on Rockshots Records and is available for pre-order at the following links:

“The next band on were Stormborn, a slightly heavier band than the previous and just as powerful. They very much interacted with the crowd, earning a lot of shouts of encouragement. Their vocalist’s range was undeniably impressive and the rest of the band sure as hell kept up with him with his fast pace and ability to start with low vocals and jumping right up into a high note within seconds.” – Moshville – Gig Review: Bloodstock M2tM Kent Finals (18th June, 2022)

“STORMBORN were inspired but with the vibe turned up to an emphatic 12. You could not help but notice the vocalist, his body expanded to fill up the stage, “I am here” it exclaimed” – Reflection of Darkness

“A show that is deserving of any metal audience in the UK from the smallest bar right up to a major festival” – Planet Mosh
