The album explained by the band:

From lineup change to personal hardships, feral is an honest view at how powerful emotion and dedication can be. A raw yet polished album encapsulates the feel and frenetic energy of past albums, while bringing forth a much more mature, refined sound. Soaring vocals, a battery of percussion, and meaty bass blends into a rich soundscape of changing moods.

Track by track explained by the band:

Feral – a very fitting opener. A dark, moody introduction, which quickly amps up the pace. Vocals soar, guitars wail. Things get quirky midway. Up and down and then up again, finally coming to a grinding halt like a bus about to smash ya

Lions share – a good, catchy tune that people can easily sing along to and groove to. Very groovy and more straight forward, but on the drop of a dime, things take a turn and get aggressive and frantic. It leaves you on the edge of your seat with an eery, dissonant buildup, ending finally with harmonized vocals and enough swagger to make any alleycat proud.

Lounge lizard – easily the most eclectic song on the record. Dancy, poppy, but still emotionally charged and ingenious sections from all instruments. There’s a surfy riff which then quickly evaporates Into probably the heaviest, most raw part in the whole record, with Jamie shrieking in a manner that would scare any fierce tiger away, finally ending in a sweet serenade.

Caterwaul – a spastic, fast paced tune that is reminiscent of early like animals. Things rip along at a quick pace and shifts into 5th gear with a punkish feel, with a very brief reprieve, aware of the assault to come. slick guitar licks atop a bluesy frenetic bass line that lock in with powerful, thundering drums get your head banging, and then melts away leaving you recovering but still locked tight in the slow atmospheric groove. Probably the first guitar solo that made it into a tune. The end fades away in to an eery scene with harmonic vocals.

Jungle book of love – the arse kicker of the album, a sonic assault saved for last. The ambience starts you off in the mists of a jungle and quickly you have the pack upon you, tearing you limb from limb. Sweet as sugar vocals over a pounding rhythm keep the train going. Eventually breaks into a bizarre formula, showing the mathy technical side of the band. Slow the pace only briefly, in a Mike Patton-esque, eery buildup, reminiscent of Tomahawk. Bass and drums keep locked in together while guitar riffs over top, creating a locomotive force. Ends off quite aggressively with haunting vocals.

Like Animals are breaking free of the constricting chains of modern music and are busy creating their own uninhibited style of spastic-math-metal graced with emotionally-charged vocals. Like a wild animal each member maintains a sense of chaos through their arpeggio guitar and bass sections, unorthodox drums peppered with dynamic changes, and finally tempered by the wavering vocals soaring just slightly above the instrumentals both in tone and feeling. The beasts within the band each perform vocal duties a sound akin to a coyote-esque choir featuring Jamie Haffenden on guitar and lead vocals, Will Tennant  on drums, Myke Caouette on bass.

Their name is synonymous with their song-writing and attitude, where they are part of a pack, but still remain hungry and solitary, like a stray animal. Their 400-show track record over the years reveals their dedication to their craft having shared the stage with such bands as Fuck The Facts, Dog Fashion Disco, Adrenechrome, Downtown Brown, Scale The Summit, Polkadot Cadaver, Teethmarks and many more.

With four animal-themed EPs in tow (‘Sweet Whispers, Plagued Ears, The Undertoad, The Wild) and their new release called ‘Feral’ due out on January 22nd, 2016, the band is constantly working to create a continuously more mature and higher caliber sound. The group hunts and writes as a unit by drafting and evolving each song with each giving their own input.

Lyrics  contend with themes such as: self-doubt, lack of self-worth, depression, anxiety, and the like. Like Animals continue to push the boundaries of the several genres which they base their experimental music on while committing to the best music they can produce.

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Now residing in Chicago, IL, with four full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title” (2006), their holiday album “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” (2007), “Sandwich” (2009),  and “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D” (2011), the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory, Psychostick returns with their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic) to showcase their latest offering, the crowd funded album ‘IV: Revenge of The Vengeance’ (fan thank you video) due out on November 4, 2014. Featuring a hilarious track listing that includes previously released singles the beard anthem ‘Obey The Beard’ and popular ‘Dog Like Socks’ plus new tracks such as ‘Quack Kills’, ‘So. Heavy’, ‘Blue Screen’, and a tribute to the 21st century’s most beloved action super hero ‘Bruce Campbell’. Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

In 2007 after some lineup changes the band recorded it second album “Storm Of Annihilation” which was mixed and mastered at Mana Studios in Florida, USA by Brian Elliott and the cover of the album was designed by Niklas Sundin.
