Seattle’s RHINE has teamed up with PureGrainAudio.com for the premiere of their first single ‘Paralyzed’ off their upcoming album ‘An Outsider’ due out on February 5th, 2016.

“The single “Paralyzed” by Rhine is all about tension and release. The theme is about personal experiences with sleep paralysis. This song gives people a well rounded Rhine experience, showing both the dissonant and heavy as well as the light and pretty side of the music. It’s a very dynamic song that features a completely improvised solo plus a clean section that turns from sweet sounding finger picking into rock ‘n roll then back into an epic metal ending with a monotonous slow outro that represents the idea of being stuck in paralysis.”
‘An Outsider’ is the follow up RHINE‘s 2011 debut ‘Duality’, which was first a solo effort by band founder Gabriel Tachell (guitar and vocals) whom is now joined by Alex Smolin on guitar (ex-Metameric), James Porter on bass (Ideofone), and Carlos Delgado (Inferion, ex-Death Crowned King) to collaborate on this project.

About:
Seattle’s Rhine are seamlessly connecting German thrash metal with Swedish death metal much like their namesake, the Rhine River. The founder of the group Gabriel Tachell named it such for its simplicity and as a metaphor for fluidity and change. The band started in 2011 with the release of their first album ‘Duality’ which was at first a solo effort by Tachell (guitar and vocals) and eventually led to a full band. He is now joined by Alex Smolin on guitar (ex-Metameric), James Porter on bass (Ideofone), and Carlos Delgado (Inferion, ex-Death Crowned King) to collaborate on this project.
Rhine are primarily producing epic, progressive songs and yet others flow to the mouth of the river where there is a culmination of black, death, and thrash metal, occasionally tinged with classical, folk and other styles. The band has a certain frantic unpredictability in terms of songwriting and structure while the moody vocals gently ride over the extreme precision of the guitar, drum, and bass. The four-piece are experimental in their intentions, yet melodically and rhythmically catchy with the delivery. Tachell is the primary inspiration for the current material, referencing experiences in his life from emotional turmoil, health issues, fairy tales, to dreams of finding corpses floating in a swamp. Their interesting themes and energetic music has been evolving into a unique and distinctive sound.
Live, Rhine is an unbridled horse that emotes a nervous uncertainty of what is next compositionally and emotionally. The band bases their performance on the backbone of the band — guitar, vocals, bass, and drums, and they definitely don’t shy away from the challenges of playing music like this live without the help of backing tracks. Their latest release ‘An Outsider’ is slated for February 5, 2016 and while it may not be heavier than the previous release, it is certainly more advanced in terms of playing, songwriting, vocal performance and production. It includes tracks featuring german lyrics, completely improvised solos and an overall human-ness that is often lost amongst other high level metal productions in this age of quantizing and autotuning. Rhine are one band that has grown into a machine that is not to be missed.

Montreal, QC female fronted symphonic viking metal band VALFREYA are reaching out to fans and friends for advance support via an Indiegogo campaign to aid in recording and releasing their 2016 album ‘Promised Land’ to follow up 2013’s ‘Acoustic Chronicles’ and 2012’s ‘Path To Eternity’ released on Maple Metal Records, which can be heard here, along with videos ‘Confront Immensity’, ‘Odin’s Fury’, ‘Alefest’. The release will be a story line album about a conqueror and his warriors who came from the North to leave a glorious legacy for his people and the memory that his name deserves. Valfreya is a symphonic Viking metal band from Montréal, Quebec, Canada. The band was created in February 2009 by Korrinn (Corinne Cardinal), female singer and main composer. Her compositions have a much more aggressive musical sound than typical folk metal. Over the years many members joined and left to finally settle with the band’s current lineup who all bring their own musical ideas to the group.
Their first EP offers a lively, energetic and epic music which will quench listeners’ musical thirst with a both symphonic and beautiful yet powerful style.
They released the full album “Path to Eternity” on February 2012 on the label “Maple Metal Records”.
This album will carry you to an era of myths and legends. It delivers a catchy and aggressive epic style within the Viking folk metal genre. “Path to Eternity” is an impressive piece of work on all levels; music, concept and artwork. It will not only please folk metal fans but also those in need of a good dose of mead with their daily brutality.
The Viking metallers have put aside their electric guitars and released a totally acoustic EP entitled “Acoustic Chronicles” in May 2013, supported by many acoustic live shows.
The band is currently working on a new album to be released next spring 2016.
