Rapheumet’s Well have carved out a path all their own and are a set to be one of the best extreme metal bands around. So you need to definitely check this out. This is great from start to finish, and is going to set a new standard in the way bands approach concept albums.

Ealdfaeder EP is another compelling and fascinatingly invasive proposal from Canadian metallers Éohum. The release sees the Montreal based outfit continue to entwine traditionalist and cultural spirited sounds and explorations into a doom infused black metal devouring of the senses. Marked again by the suggestive majesty of French Horn, the latest release is another creative conception which ignites the imagination and backs up thoughts arising from the previous encounter that this is a band with very potent horizons ahead of them.

ABOUT:
From the rain-swept city of Vancouver come Wormwitch; the result of strain, both musically and mentally, becoming possessed by black metal instrumentals, rock and roll roots, and depressive lyrics. The black metal three-piece is the brainchild of former members of local hardcore act Dead Hand (2013-2015). Wormwitch is Colby Hink (guitar), Max Vüst (drums), and Robin Harris (bass & vocals). The songs are treated as unearthed bones, first they are arranged and named, then a story is developed based on the fractures and cuts, and finally the song is complete.

The band has been constantly swinging like a pendulum further and further right, as if the far left was classic punk rock and the right being blasphemous black metal. Wormwitch have been and will continue to become enveloped in European influences tinged with the slightest hint of rock and roll. The band consists of just three instruments, but somehow combines them all to create a catastrophous sound.
Each song is built to prey upon listeners as if taking in their energy and maintaining a deadly grip. The band’s goal is to engage the audience both instrumentally and emotionally as if to exhaust them. “The Long Defeat,” is the first EP discharged from the collective mind of Wormwitch. The band is currently drafting their sophomore release which has yet to be named. They are also releasing their rogue single titled “Coffin Birth” focusing on nature taking charge and sacrificing and renewing itself, all in an effort to destroy the blight of man.

OUT NOW! Test Your Metal Records Unleash RAPHEUMETS WELL ‘The Exile’

The Exile – Promo Video – Watch here.

From the birth of organic matter to great wars that tear the fabric of space/time, the story of RAPHEUMETS WELL‘s music serves to immerse you into a world of oddities. Blending a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds, the Hickory, N.C. based band bring forth a voyage enriched with lore, fabricated from scratch to show the depth in which represents them as artists. Their sophomore release ‘The Exile’ is out now as of March 18th via Test Your Metal Records to follow their first self release full length ‘Dimensions’ unleashed in 2014 that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multi-verse.
Drummer Joshua Ward comments on the album:
“Our album ‘The Exile’ we felt was a alluring story following our release of Dimensions due to its more personal nature. The story, while taking place on a distant planet follows the journey of Darmak Ildna, a military commander from the Sunak Empire. A malevolent deity of a sorts lands on the planet and enforces his mandate. We wrote this album to reflect this journey. From flesh eating gates and alien invasions to time and space being ripped and the protagonist getting his skin peeled from his bones, it needed a amalgamation of brutal riffing with cosmic soundscapes to portray this. We were able to record and master this ourselves so we are very happy with all the work we have done. Thanks to Test Your Metal Records, we have a medium to share our creation.”

About:

Inspired by the fictitious universe of Sovael, RAPHEUMETS WELL is the name coined to the conscious deity who oversees the anastomosis of the multiverse, the master of portals and inter-dimensional travel. Being personified as a trickster, Rapheumet often creates chaos for unsuspecting voyagers. The word “Well” refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.
“We created this name in hopes of personifying a living gateway between dimensions. We love science fiction and a few of us have extended education and degrees in science.” says drummer Joshua Ward.

Live the band’s concert theatrics is a show truly to entertain the crowd with an opus of metal while still satisfying their story lines in their music creating an intimate but relatable ambiance for fans, especially those who enjoy bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Faceless, Emperor, Black Crown Initiate.

OUT NOW! ÉOHUM (French Horn Black Metal) Unleash New EP ”Ealdfaeder”

Montreal black metallers Éohum (pronounced ee-o-um) unleash their new EP ‘Ealdfaeder’ out now as of March 18thvia Mycelium Networks. Recorded at Chris Donaldson’s (Cryptopsy) The Grid, Éohum blend the most gruesome with the cleanest of black and doom metal to create hypnotic riffs with seducing French Horn. The follow up to their debut “Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch”, ‘Ealdfaeder’ features a line up of band founder Jeremy Perkins (guitar) who birthed the band from a poetic project, the return of Annie Perreault (French Horn/Flute), Sylvain Dumont (Guitar), Barrie Butler (Vocals) plus new comers Cesar Franco (bass) and Luca Belviso (drums) whom have made up the band up for a year now along with a special guest recording from drummer Simon Mackay (The Agonist) on tracks 2-4-5 for the release. All are focused on the distinct grassroots of old school, very heavy progression that has flourished since last year to give way to a distinct path, sound and image with each member sharing common ground on the message, beliefs and ideas behind Éohum.
Lyrically the EP is inspired by poems written by Perkins on the loss of culture and tradition due to greed and colonization across the globe.

Band founder Jeremy Perkins comments on ‘Ealdfaeder’:

“The EP speaks generally about the lost voice of past cultures who were colonized and the decaying relationship humanity has with nature due to the societies we live in. The loss of traditions we held and relationships we had with nature.”
