Streaming Now! Proggers SHUMAUN Unveils Their Fourth Album “Opposing Mirrors”

Featuring An All-Star Lineup of Drummers – Thomas Lang (Peter Gabriel, Paul Gilbert), Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats), Leo Margarit (Pain of Salvation)

(L to R) – Tyler Kim: Guitar, Farhad Hossain: Vocals, Guitar, Keys, Jose Mora: Bass

Progressive rock band Shumaun, from Virginia, USA is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated introspective fourth album “Opposing Mirrors”. This new album is chock full of the band’s signature blend of melodic, progressive, and accessible rock driven by Farhad Hossain. Featuring a stellar lineup of drummers, including Thomas Lang, Leo Margarit (Pain of Salvation), and Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats), the album is set to be a landmark release in Shumaun‘s career. Hossain comments on the album:

“The album is intended to be listened to sequentially, although there are standout singles dispersed throughout. There’s a natural flow between the songs, and the lyrics contribute to a conceptual feel. In essence, the album is kind of conceptual, and the title, “Opposing Mirrors” encapsulates this theme perfectly. Whether it’s reflecting on a loved one, an adversary, or individuals grappling to connect, the album delves into the challenges of understanding “the other” by means of self-reflection and awareness and viewing them as a mirror for oneself, fostering compassion and empathy in the process.”

Hossain continues to explain that this album is a little more explorative than their previous one. It retains their signature progressive elements but with a stronger focus on guitars with the layered vocals remaining intact. Mixed and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio in France, the album delivers a polished yet dynamic sound that is sure to resonate with fans old and new.

“Opposing Mirrors” is best experienced as a cohesive journey, with each track contributing to a thematic coherence that invites listeners to delve deeper into its rich tapestry of sound. The lyrics for this album were inspired directly by life events and the prevailing state of the world. It is recommended for fans of Porcupine Tree, Fates Warning, and Dream Theater.

“US prog trio Shumaun blend progressive musical inclinations with arena-sized choruses on powerful new song Some Memories.” – Prog Mag

“Lead vocalist and guitarist Farhad Hossain channels his admiration for rock legends like Rush and Tears for Fears in this modern yet nostalgic track (Opposing Mirrors).” – Metal Insider

“heaven is waiting to delight all real music lovers with SHUMAUN, with their authoritative masterpiece ´Opposing Mirrors´. ( 9.5 points )” – Saitenkult

“Favourite songs are the multi-faceted opener that even features a folk-rock accordion phrase. I love the head-banging hook on That Which Turns. This is a real driving-in-the-car anthem that gives a generous nod to latter-day Fates Warning. Beyond Reflection is a modern prog ballad with some joyous guitar work at the end. Anxiety Day Dreams is an instrumental for hazy summer days, whilst the closing Porcelain Trees is another multi-headed beast that spins from a poetic lullaby to tech-metal! However, the absolute gem is Some Memories which packs a giant hook, a killer riff and a great keyboard solo into its compact four minutes. One of the best songs Shumaun has ever written. So yes, Opposing Mirrors is another success for those of us who love melodic progressive rock/metal. Four out of four, and still counting!” – DPRP.net

““Opposing Mirrors,” rocks the house down, slapping the forward ground and driving the heart of the hardness.” – The Median Man

“The opener ‚ The Perils Of Amnesia ‘ already pushes the previous limits of the SHUMAUN cosmos: At the beginning, a subtle drum computer and lovely vocals whisper your ears, until a break plunges you into an almost folky whirlpool of percussive rhythms and brisk guitars. A great chorus puts the crown on the whole and because of the sheer variety, you can hardly believe that nine minutes can be over so quickly….What remains is the feeling of having listened to a very special album by a very special band, with the certainty that this pleasure will probably be denied to so many ignorant forever. But that shouldn’t be the case…” – Obliveon – 9.5/10

“Shumaun, continuing on the independent path of absolute autonomy, remain a precious secret for anyone who is moved by everything that the wider field of progressive rock/metal promises. With a multifaceted bond of thought and emotion, with a tamed technique that harmoniously serves the goal of expression and with a deep humanism in the themes of another great album, they are waiting even for those who are late, to share with them a new link of their precious chain.” – Soundcheck Network

High-energy Canadian heavy metallers Prisoner is thrilled to announce the release of their electrifying new single “Skies are Blackened” from their eagerly awaited EP “House of Cards”, which is set to drop on August 21, 2024. Known for their hard-hitting riffs and unmistakably tight grooves, Prisoner continues to push the boundaries of modern rock music. The comment on the single:

“It’s a hard-hitting, in-your-face hard rock/metal track rooted in thrash metal influence. Its upbeat tempo and high-energy rhythm drive the listener into the anthemic chorus topped with soaring high vocals. Lyrically it speaks on world ideals and how we interact with one another in society under a scoped direction created by the upper echelon of people running our world.”

The creation of “House of Cards” reflects the band’s dynamic journey, with the current lineup forming during the recording process. Founded in Calgary, Alberta in 2020, Prisoner draws from classic/hard rock, heavy metal, and blues to create a sound that is both rooted in tradition and refreshingly modern. The band, comprising frontman Murray Emery, guitarist Jeremy Hartmann, bassist Trevor Macdonald, and drummer Karl Pflug, delivers the ultimate hard rock experience, combining their individual talents to produce music that resonates deeply with audiences.

“House of Cards” is a conglomeration of music with multiple elements from varying sub-genres, bridging the gap between emotion and life experience. The single and the album are a must-listen for anyone interested in modern rock and heavy metal that pays homage to its predecessors from the 70s-2000s, especially fans of Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Metallica, and AC/DC.

0 Newfoundland Duo ARTACH Put A Black Metal Tinge On Industrial w/ New Video “Frozen Factory” Off EP “Sgrios” Out July 2024

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 26, 2024

Newfoundland Duo ARTACH Put A Black Metal Tinge On Industrial w/ New Video “Frozen Factory”

New EP “Sgrios” Out July 2024

From the frost-bitten depths of Newfoundland, Canada, black metal duo ARTACH return this summer to present their experimental side with their latest EP “Sgrios” out this July 2024, which will later be followed by a third full-length this coming Fall (to be released on vinyl via Adirondack Black Mass), and will once again feature their signature sound.

The upcoming EP “Sgrios” might surprise some listeners as the band took on an experimental direction to incorporate more industrial metal sounds. Bands like Rammstein, Fear Factory, and Pain for example. However, it’s still them and still has all the elements from their previous releases.

For the “Sgrios” EP, the black metal spin on industrial metal is a mash of styles that the duo hadn’t heard much of and felt was something fresh and original.

“Not a ton of Black Metal bands will have Rammstein-esque synth guitar sounds, tremolo-picked riffs, and harsh black metal vocals. We talked about doing this “industrial-styled” 4 song EP to keep active and experiment ahead of the release of our 3rd full-length in the fall of 2024. At first, we thought about calling it a different project name, but quickly realized we could and would make it close enough to the Artach style to keep the name. You will hear industrial metal through the Artach blackened-thrash lens.” adds Sruthán (Guitar/Bass).

Lyrically, the topics explored on the “Sgrios” EP cover technology, apocalyptic themes, and some tongue-in-cheek suggestive topics (‘Sgrios” translates to English as destroy, ruin, ravage, annihilate, etc.). The “Sgrios” cover artwork has the duo in robot form in a frozen industrial wasteland. It fits with the lyrical topics for the EP perfectly.

Today, the band shares their lead single off the EP entitled “Frozen Factory”, a track about environmental collapse due to greed.

“We chose this one as it serves as a bridge between what you’ve come to know Artach for and the other songs on the EP. It was the last song written for this EP. When we were doing the others, which had more synth-sounding guitars etc, we thought we needed something heavier so taking inspiration from some bands like Fear Factory, etc we crafted an Artach take on that side of industrial metal.” says Sruthán (Guitar/Bass)

“With the jagged band name and bleak setting you can look upon the cover and get a taste of what’s in store, then you add in the hooded man with the sword and your ideas may be subverted, perhaps not. This is the real genius of Artach. They are making music that crosses genres; a bit of black metal, death metal, old school horns up fists of air grabbing metal as well.” – Killchain (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“The song (She Gathers Leaves) is a thrill-ride, but also reveals elements of gothic witchiness. The raw vocals are caught up in a paroxysm of fierce, crazed adoration, venting cold-blooded roars as well as braying, throat-stripping howls and cut-throat screams. The full-throttle drumming is tumultuous, a changing array that hammers, gallops, rocks, thunders, and blasts. Urgently rising chords provide a recurring theme, surrounded by flame-throwing riffs that dart, pulsate, and spasm, drawing on elements of thrash and classic heavy metal as well as black metal. Ecstatically swirling leads further add to the wildness of the song. A mood of mystery does surface in the track’s brief intro, and that mood surfaces again in the song’s back half, leading into a necromantic guitar solo that takes flight in scintillating fashion.” – No Clean Singing (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“check out Artach for a truly epic journey into the wildernesses that populate the dark fantasy land conjured through their excellent music. This sophomore album tells me that this is a band that will be releasing much good material for years to come and will soon be headlining the epic black metal stages or charts both online and at festivals. An excellent job all round.” – Metal Rules (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“”Sworn to Avenge is a mind-assaulting record… You’ll hear the influences of classic black metal bands like Venom, early-Bathory as well as elements of the second wave; Immortal, Darkthrone etc. Ugly and uninviting stuff but very satisfying if you enjoy the gloomier side of metal… It’s a mammoth listen and does take its toll, but the array of ideas that Artach showcase does keep things interesting. An hour slips by, the cold has sunk deep into the bones and you’ll be left wondering if you’ll ever be warm again.” – Games, Brrraaains And A Head-Banging Life (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“Very melodic black metal, yet aggressive and heavy with undeniable influences from plain old straightforward heavy metal, so while things are definitely “black metal”, there’s a lot of discipline at play and this is definitely not your average raw, chaotic black metal. There’s order to the chaos on Sworn to Avenge, but that doesn’t prevent it from being aggressive and sometimes kind of depressing and melancholic despite not descending into the slower playing usually associated with those stylings. It’s a rollercoaster of “fuck yeah!” and “kill me now” (in sort of a good way).” – The Metal Crypt (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

About The EP Artwork

The SGRIOS cover has us in robot form in a frozen industrial wasteland. It fits with the lyrical topics for the EP perfectly.

About the EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

Lyrically, the topics explored on the SGRIOS EP cover technology, apocalyptic themes, and some tongue in cheek suggestive topics. Musically you will hear industrial metal through the Artach blackened-thrash lens.

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

1. Environmental collapse due to greed (“Frozen Factory”) – the most “Artach-sounding” song on here.

2. The perils of deep space exploration with suggestive themes (“The Black Hole”)

3. Sex between two robots (“Super-Cybernetic”)

4. “Atomic Cabaret,” is a dark reflection on the development and catastrophic consequences of nuclear technology, highlighting the destructive potential, moral dread, and existential uncertainty of the atomic age. Musically summons Rammstein vibes.

======================================================

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Artach doesn’t rehearse or jam, we just write and record constantly (sadly this was slowed down a bit in recent times due to lock-downs due to the raging pandemic). When a song is written, it gets recorded, then we move on to the next one. We’ve probably forgotten how to play the earlier songs as once a song has been finalized we don’t waste time jamming on it as we are not a live band. We move right onto the next song and keep the creative process flowing. For this reason, at any one time, there can be 10+ song ideas in various states of composition.

2. The band’s name, member names, and even some song titles are in Gaelic. It’s not that we speak the language, but because the historical roots of our island involve the immigration of people from Ireland, Scotland, and England. Therefore rather than re-tread the themes of the Scandinavian and Norse lands, which have been overdone in black/pagan/folk metal, we decided to stick with something more authentic to our own roots.

3. Many of the songs are about nature, and many of those involve winter. We live in the coldest, windiest, snowiest, foggiest, a capital provincial city in Canada. We’d give many Norwegian cities a challenge for gloomiest weather. As a result, the climate and nature are themes found in most songs.

4. Sruthán never played bass before Artach – just guitar. Fíochmhar never sang in a band before – just played drums.

Artach is a two-man black metal band (Sruthán: Guitar/Bass, Fíochmhar: Battery/Vokills/Keys)based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Being from the foggiest, snowiest, wettest, windiest, and gloomiest capital city in Canada, one should not be surprised that this fuels the creation of Black Metal. Their inspiration comes from the land, nature, the bleak weather of the Canadian North, and influential black metal bands.

Since the duo’s formation in the spring of 2019, Artach has been consistently releasing new music. The band’s debut album “Chronicles of a Black Winter” was released digitally during February 2020 and later unleashed on physical CD by Depressive Illusions Records. The full length contained 9 songs of extreme, harsh, and haunting sounds, which included a cover of Celtic Frost’s ‘Jewel Throne’.

Now in 2021, the band returns with their next offering “Sworn To Avenge”, a full-length scourge of raw and relentless bruting gloom. From the calming blasts and savagery of album opener “Tuiteam an Duine” to the ingrained black metal blast beats, and headbanging riffage on “Shimmer” to the 20-minute exploration for the epic “Endless Tundra” about the doomed Franklin expedition of 1846 to the Immortal-esque riffing and unorthodox exorcism of album closer “Winter’s End”, Artach delivers a 65-minute cold deliverance of their surroundings.

“Artach are one of the most interesting black metal bands to have come out of Canada in recent years. The unique meshing of first and second wave black metal styles alongside elements of progressive black metal creates an interesting and intriguing album. The band’s enjoyment for creating and love for their craft really shines through, it is refreshingly authentic and invigorating, daring to explore things in their own way instead of adding more footprints to an already well trodden black metal path.” – NOIZZE (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“The song (She Gathers Leaves) is a thrill-ride, but also reveals elements of gothic witchiness. “Now for some blackened thrash from Canada’s Artach, a band with an unusual take on the genre and a very unique sound. The good news is that if you’re a thrash fan you’re going to like this album. The even better news is that if you’re a blackened thrash fan you’re going to love this album. All of your favourite elements are present, plenty of riffs, a great blend between groove, rawness and aggression and raw, high energy vocals. There is something for everyone here which is why I can see the album having a broad appeal.” – Cavedweller Music (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“Instrumentally I think Artach have pushed the boundary of what they achieved on their previous record. The structure of the songs here are more experimental and incredibly diverse, especially with the aforementioned “Endless Tundra”. The guitars push up against the limits of what one would typically expect from black metal while also keeping a foot firmly planted in that world, so as not to stray too far from the conventions that make the genre what it is. It’s an interesting middle ground and I’d like to see Artach continue to push these ideas further on their next release. This album as a whole sees the band try different things and generally improve upon the formula established on their debut, and I look forward to seeing what they do next.” – Heavy NFLD (2021: Sworn to Avenge)

“The album is definitely black metal – but there are some really nice elements in that that makes this author think the musicians are truly having some fun. In particular, ‘Frozen In Time’, exhibits this by delivering several rhythmic textures and a variety of guitar techniques. The vocals are also just well placed in this track in both timing and style.” – Brutalism (Album Review – 2020 Chronicles of a Black Winter)

“Artach have overnight become one of the most interesting bands to come out of the Newfoundland metal scene in some time, not only for the Darkthrone-esque duality of their lineup, but for their genuine appreciation for all things grim and frostbitten and their unique flavour of first wave meets second wave black metal. If you’ve not given Chronicles of a Black Winter a listen yet, give it a spin or two. It’s definitely worth checking out.” – HeavyNFLD (Album Review – 2020 Chronicles of a Black Winter)

“Artach is a mysterious two-piece Black Metal band who have issued their debut CHRONICLES OF A BLACK WINTER. Artach have spawned some fierce raw and primeval Black Metal. I’m hearing lots of classic Hellhammer/Bathory/Venom and maybe even dipping into second wave stuff like Immortal. It is all very black and grim the way this type of stuff should be.” – Metal-Rules (Album Review – 2020 Chronicles of a Black Winter)

“Like the album’s title may suggest, this album’s atmosphere is as cold and bleak as the North winds.  The album is very riff focused with modern production, but it isn’t too clean—I actually really enjoyed the production. Vocally, it is very unique and [not] just the same ol endless blackened screams.” – Metal Temple (Album Review – 2020 Chronicles of a Black Winter)

“A solid dose of second wave black metal.” – Astral Noize (Album Review – 2020 Chronicles of a Black Winter)

“This is an album that took a little time to grow on me and after more listens than I care to count, I still hear little twists that I hadn’t heard before. Pretty cool debut from a band that’s doing its own thing in a genre where bands are often content to imitate.” Rating: ⅘ – The Metal Crypt (Album Review – 2020 Chronicles of a Black Winter)

0 PARADISE IN FLAMES Forges Brazilian Folk With Symphonic Black/Death Metal In Music Video “Black Wings” From New Album “Blindness” Out Now!

PARADISE IN FLAMES Forges Brazilian Folk With Symphonic Black/Death Metal In Music Video “Black Wings”

New Album “Blindness” Out Now!

Since 2003, Brazil’s Paradise In Flames has been shattering boundaries and spreading its identity-filled sound infused with blazing notes of pure hatred to audiences far and wide. Their latest concept album “Blindness” is out now, complemented with a music video for the single “Black Wings”. The single mixes Brazilian folk elements with a direct reference to forró (regional Brazilian musical style). It rescues the pre-epidemic period of history, presenting the protagonist: Black Wings and her life story.

Watch the music video for “Black Wings” at https://youtu.be/BCSj1TF7YI4

Coined as extreme philosophical symphonic protester metal, they have been honing their identity since their 2021 album “Act One” and have matured and improved since then, intertwining Brazilian bossa nova, death metal, and black metal.

“Blindness” tells the story of a philosophical work that portrays religion as a psychological illness, illustrating how men become blind in the pursuit of power. Lyrically, the songs revolve around a single plot inspired by the book by Jose Saramago. The musical structure creates an operatic scenario, where characters interact within a symphonic plot characterized by rapid pace and melodious themes. It is recommended for fans of Satyricon, Dark Funeral, and Batushka.

“This album proved to be the most challenging of our career, as it required a strong correlation between the music and lyrics. The concept was to have one set of lyrics for all 11 tracks, ensuring each song had a logical sequence while collectively creating an engaging atmosphere to captivate the listener. We believe that we successfully achieved our objectives with this album. In the physical CD and LP versions, listeners will be able to enjoy following along with the lyrics in hand, allowing them to seamlessly experience the album’s narrative in its entirety.” adds the band.

“Blindness” was released on June 14, 2024, and is available from Xaninho Discos and Demoncratic Records.

“Check out the latest full album from Paradise in Flames, Blindness. It’s heavy and catchy.” – Decibel Magazine

“Telling part of the story of a philosophical work that portrays religion as a psychological illness, illustrating how men become blind in the pursuit of power, the incendiary Blindness, the band new offering by Santa Luzia/Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil-based Symphonic Black Metal band Paradise In Flames and the follow-up to their 2021 album Act One, will be a blast for anyone with an interest in Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, and Satyricon.” – The Headbanging Moose

“If you like Fleshgod Apocalypse, elements of Dimmu Borgir, and Cradle Of Filth, then PARADISE IN FLAMES may resonate with you… Created to tell the story of a philosophical work that portrays religion as a psychological illness and illustrating how men become blind in the pursuit of power, the entire album explodes as one giant symphonic/operatic scenario, with characters who interact with switches in pace and tempo.” – Female Fronted Power

““Concerto No.6 in C Minor, Cold Spring,” ventures forth on the platitude of time, a song that snarls and bites into the whirlwind of a creeping tide.” – The Median Man

Western Canada’s largest mountain mosh pit Armstrong MetalFest regrets to announce that Friday night, July 12th headliner Decrepit Birth must unfortunately retract from their performance due to a schedule conflict within the line-up. After numerous attempts to find a fill-in member, they are unable to perform on that date and have been forced to make that difficult decision. Armstrong MetalFest is currently working to secure a new Friday night headliner. Please follow the festival’s social media for updates.

This 14th annual gathering of metalheads, Armstrong MetalFest will once again witness a pilgrimage of extreme metal music fans for two days of unforgettable moshing, headbanging, and camping. From iconic headliners to promising newcomers, the 2024 lineup is set to showcase the best of diverse metal genres, ensuring an electrifying experience for all.

This year’s lineup held on July 12th and 13th at the Hassen Arena in Armstrong, BC will be headlined by Kansas City THE BROWNING who will be unleashing their unique eclectic blend of electronicore and deathcore. Also featured on this year’s two-day festival, dissonant and atmospheric Vancouver tech death metallers ATRÆ BILIS, and Orlando’s two-fisted two steppin’ double-wide aural assault squad BODYBOX. Returning to the festival, is the Okanagan’s very favourite Black Metallers XUL (Vernon, BC) and Edmonton death metallers EYE OF HORUS along with first-time performances from Vancouver twin brother duo OPAL IN SKY, San Francisco’s outside-the-box prog metallers CYBORG OCTOPUS, and the tech death fury of Riverside, CA’s ARKAIK among many more (full lineup listed below).

Lovecraft extreme metallers VALE OF PNATH, and Edmonton’s Juno award-winning heavy metal champions STRIKER.

Since 2009 (minus pause years 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic), West Metal Entertainment and Armstrong Metalfest have not only fostered the talent of hundreds of local bands, but have imported well-known, international acts to the quiet, little Canadian town of Armstrong, British Columbia.

Each year hundreds of metalheads from Canada and the USA descend into the picturesque Okanagan Valley and under the blistering sun, they spend three days camping, taking in as much metal over two days, participating in wrestling events, scavenger hunts, and catching up with their metal family.

The festival has seen such renowned headliners as Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Nekrogoblikon, Origin, Rivers of Nihil, and Beyond Creation as well as emerging artists from across North America. At the end of the revelry, the festival disappears without a trace, leaving the landscape as pristine as it has always been.

West Metal Entertainment is a non-profit society that not only puts on the Armstrong Metal Festival every year in Armstrong, B.C., it gives bands opportunities to play at different venues throughout the region including all-ages shows, to encourage musical passion in kids as well as adults.

WACKEN METAL BATTLE USA Announces National Winner – CASCADE EFFECT

One Band To Conquer Them All & Play Wacken Open Air

Spotify – 2024 WMBU National Finalists Playlist – https://spoti.fi/4cbAEb8

One band to conquer them all! Down to the final five bands from across the country, the national final for Wacken Metal Battle USA was held this past Saturday, June 22nd in San Diego, CA at the Brick by Brick with regional winners Cascade Effect (San Diego), WarTroll (NorCal), Versipul (PNW), Prime Prophecy (East Coast), and Father Wolf (Texas).

Judged by an industry panel that included Rod Kukla (Silver Lining Music), Craig Goldy (Dio), Derek Engemann (Scour, Phil Anselmo and the Illegals, ex-Cattle Decapitation), and Patrick Stone (Adler’s Appetite, Budderside), the band that reigned the stage and proved themselves worthy of gracing the holy land of metal at Wacken Open Air in Germany is crowned 2024 champion, San Diego’s Cascade Effect.

Congratulations to Father Wolf, Versipul, WarTroll, Prime Prophecy, and Cascade Effect for putting on one of the best shows Wacken Metal Battle USA has ever seen. I wish the boys in Cascade Effect nothing but the best at WACKEN!” – Eric Dow

As this year’s crowned USA champion, Cascade Effect will now move on to perform as the only independent American band at the International Battle at Wacken Open Air (July 31st – August 3rd), one of the world’s most prestigious and largest metal festivals (Attendance of over 80,000 people in Wacken, Germany for over 30 years).

As the metal community regains its strength, Wacken Open Air 2024 will be the 33rd edition of the festival and will be held from July 31st – August 3rd. The 2024 event is already sold out with a line-up that includes Scorpions, Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian, In Extremo, Pain, Beast In Black, and many more. Details here.

Wacken Metal Battle USA is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance to win their spot among 30 other countries’ champions, and represent the USA in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. The battles have been hosted at the festival for over a decade and give independent bands the opportunity to showcase their talents to an international audience along with the chance to win multiple prizes.

How it works:
Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter where one band will move forward to the American national final (date and city to be determined). The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2024 and compete against the winners of 29 other countries in a final global battle. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry representatives.

ZEALED’s New Single “Divination” Is An Adrenaline Rush Of Black Metal And Deathcore

Ritalo, USA’s independent music project Zealed is thrilled to announce the release of their potent third single “Divination”. Known for their unique blend of symphonic black metal and melodic deathcore, Zealed‘s latest track promises an intense, fast, and brutally melodic experience that will draw in listeners. The band shares what people can expect:

“Musically it offers a thrilling experience with rapid tempo shifts, an abundance of riffs, and slow, but intricate breakdowns. Lyrically: Same with lyrics, it’s like someone slammed a bunch of energy drinks and destroyed what was left of a brutal song, in a good way!”

“Divination” was the second collaboration between instrumentalist Christopher Marron and vocalist Chris White on a track. They wanted to switch things up from their last single, yet maintain the same cohesive sound. This single is a key release leading up to Zealed’s forthcoming EP “Eschaton”. The EP will feature all of the band’s previous releases, meticulously remixed and remastered to ensure a consistent and powerful sound throughout. This collection will bring the Eschaton era story of Zealed to a close, setting the stage for the band to explore new musical directions in the future.

Zealed was founded in late 2019 by Marron as an instrumental side project aimed at exploring audio and recording production. The initial instrumental release garnered positive feedback, prompting Marron to elevate the project by incorporating a vocalist. This led to the inclusion of White, who brought his expertise in lyrics and vocals, thus transforming Zealed into the powerhouse duo it is today. Zealed is recommended for fans of Bleeding Through, Lorna Shore, and Chelsea Grin.
