ALMAH Posts New Lyric Video ‘Age of Aquarius’; New Album ‘E.V.O’ Due Out Sept 23rd

 Brazilian metallers ALMAH led by ex-Angra singer Edu Falaschi will be releasing their new album entitled ‘E.V.O’ on September 23rd worldwide via Pride & Joy Music (EU), Test Your Metal (US/MX/CA) and King Records (Japan).

‘E.V.O’ is the 5th studio album from ALMAH and was recorded in São Paulo, Brazil at IMF studios by Tito Falaschi plus mixed and mastered by Damien Rainaud (Fear Factory, Dragonforce, Baby Metal, etc) at Mix Unlimited in Los Angeles, California. The release is a concept album based on the evolution of people’s mind and soul during the so-called AGE OF AQUARIUS – the new era that the world is about to live. The author of the concept, Edu Falaschi, touches different subjects connected to the main idea, creating very positive lyrics for the album’s atmosphere.

 

Musically ‘E.V.O’ brings a fresh and powerful sound with the typical modern and heavy ALMAH touch, but this time one will be able to realize that it also has a direct connection with the Angra’s “Rebirth” (the first Angra album with Edu Falaschi’s voice). The compositions are a pleasant travel between contemporary rock, modern power and prog metal. The vocal lines on ‘E.V.O’ are very powerful, classic and the vocals have a higher pitch compared to previous ALMAH’s records. It’s very melodic, clean and into the bel canto style.

There is a lot of melody on this record balancing out the heaviness Of Prometheus And The Flame has the Killswitch influence running through it, As The Sky Falls is a drumming masterclass, Resurrection brings back the Trivium sound while New World slows everything down as an atmospheric piece that explodes in it’s last part. Ages Unsung is an album that looks back to an early millennial period of music but brings it modern day showing that it’s still relevant. 8/10

Tactus is a five-piece progressive metal band from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Formed in 2011 as a jam project by three fellow music students, the group has gone on to release several singles and EPs independently, while having the opportunity to share the stage with great metal acts like Protest the Hero, Intervals, Black Crown Initiate, and Mandroid Echostar. Their  first full-length album ‘Bending Light’ features 10 outer limits prog tracks set to be unleashed on October 7th, 2016 with mixing and mastering by Jamie King (Between The Buried In Me, Paradise Lost, Scale The Summit).

The group pride themselves on their infusion of multiple musical styles into hard-hitting riffs, epic choruses, and technically intense passages. Soaring melodies, guttural growls, and destructive breakdowns flow into soft, slow, and pensive segments of jazz and rock. Their compositional method, where songs are conceived, written, transcribed, and edited before they are ever learned or rehearsed, adds a level of refinement and fluidity not always found in heavier music. The band do almost all of their engineering work themselves. While they have released two fully self-produced tracks, Enigma (August 2014) and Roxanne (March 2015), they have also worked with several talented producers. Their first EP T (June 2014), comprised of four previously released singles and one new song, featured the mixing and mastering handiwork of Gino Bambino (Novallo) and Justin Hill (SikTh). Their single Resurface (December 2014) was handled by George Lever (Burials).

      Montreal blackened doom Éohum (pronounced ee-o-um) have teamed up with The Sludgelord for the premiere of their video ‘Eurocide’ directed by Chris Kells of The Agonist and his film company FTB Visuals.

‘Eurocide’ is off  Éohum’s latest EP ‘Ealdfaeder’ released during March 2016 via founder / guitarist Jeremy Perkins’ indie label Mycelium Networks and was produced with Chris Donaldson of Cryptopsy at The Grid along with a special guest recording from drummer Simon Mackay (The Agonist) on tracks 2-4-5 to follow up their debut album ‘Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch’. Lyrically the EP is inspired by poems written by Perkins on the loss of culture and tradition due to greed and colonization across the globe.
