Windsor, ON’s THE APEX are unleashing their upcoming EP ‘Underbelly’ on Sept 17th, the first date of their two week‘Fresh Out of The Foundry Tour’ with Regina’s The Man and His Machine across Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (dates listed below). But before they do, they have teamed up withPureGrainAudio.com to reveal the full stream of the EP’s ear piercing blasts of extreme shrapnel at the following link below. What truly makes THE APEX interesting besides the full force of their technical brutality, is that vocalist Darren Marchand suffers from Neurogenic Stammering, which effects his speech where the brain won’t tell the mouth what to say, so he’s unable to carry on a normal conversation, but for some reason he’s able to scream all the lyrics live and that is how he gets to express himself vocally with the band.

BIO:
The Apex formed in August of 2013.
They are a collective of individuals from the Ontario metal community, whom over the years have come together from past bands such as, Closed Casket Funeral, Dismata, Blood Shot Eye, The Coalition Design, and Corprophemia to form The Apex.
In a true culmination of talent, dedication, and timing, this group has created a unique hometown sound that is now being called “Windsor Ghetto Tech”. The brutal sonic assault of their music coupled with the emotional reckless abandonment of their live performance, have drawn stanch comparisons to Meshuggah and classic Dillinger Escape Plan rounded out with a distinctly Canadian flair. To add influence, vocalist Darren M. suffers from Neurogenic Stammering, which effects his speech where the brain won’t tell the mouth what to say so he’s unable to carry on a normal conversation, but for some reason he’s able to scream all the lyrics live and that is how he gets to express himself vocally with the band.
In July, 2014 they entered Shark Tank Productions studio in Windsor, Ontario to begin recording their debut self-titled full length album, “The Apex”. They hired engineer Nick Kinnish of Serafina Productions (Johnny Truent, Architects, and more) to aid them in capturing their sound accurately. In November, 2014 they completed their recording and announced the independent release date of February 21st, 2015. In 2016, the band entered Empire Recording Studios to record their next release, the EP ‘Underbelly’ set to be unleashed in August.
TOUR EXPERIENCE
This band is no stranger to hitting the pavement to support the music they love to make. In their 15+ years of experience creating music in previous bands, they’ve been support on tour for bands like: Cephalic Carnage, All Shall Perish, Despised Icon, Cryptopsy, Today Is The Day, Killitorous, Erimha and Ion Dissonance to name a few. In previous bands they’ve also shared the stage on festivals with bands like: SOD, Venom, Obituary, Cradle Of Filth, Earth Crisis, God Forbid, Skinless, Beneath The Massacre and more to crowds up to 7500+ in North America.
As their current lineup “The Apex”, they have already invested in a mid-sized tour bus and have began to book many shows and festivals across Canada for 2016.

Western Canadian ‘Conductor of Storms Tour’ presented by PureGrainAudio

Influenced by legends such as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Accept and Metal Church, Chilliwack, BC heavy metallers MEDEVIL are set to unleash their debut full length ‘Conductor of Storms’ on August 26th. The Canadian metal scene has been anticipating this release since the band placed in the top 6 during the 2015 Wacken Metal Battle Canada competition where they won over many fans with their self described ‘power thrash’ full of blistering fast riffs, strong choruses and front man Liam Collingwood’s impressive vocals (you can swear is Udo Dirkschneider from a distance).

It is one of the most magical moments in a band’s life when they release their debut album. We can only imagine what Kerry King and Tom Araya felt like on the eve of ‘Show No Mercy’ being unleashed on the world, or the excitement that must have coursed through Steve Harris and Dave Murray as their self-titled debut was about to escape into an unsuspecting and never to be the same again world.
Well, Medevil don’t just imagine it…their debut album ‘Conductor of Storms’ is about to explode in a blast of metallic thunder and lightning upon the earth.
Hailing from Chiliwack, BC, Medevil are a hard-working progressive band, constantly striving to improve their songs, a fact not missed by Wacken Metal Battle Canada, where Medevil made the top 6!
Band vocalist Liam Collingwood explains the band’s memorable moniker. ‘The band name was thought up by Eric and fits our style of music perfectly.’
Liam is very serious about the bands modus operandi. ‘Medevil formed as a creative outlet for each member. The goal of our band is to satisfy our creative desires, while maintaining our standard of quality and to expand our knowledge of music as a whole. In five words, I’d sum up our music as power/thrash/prog/heavy metal.’
Liam says if he had to pick one Medevil track to represent the band it would be ‘the song ‘Machination Factory’ as it is one of the heavier songs on the album and it’s also the newest song that we wrote so it’s fresher in our heads. We wanted to release something first that would be a good start at representing our band even though future songs may.’
Liam reveals that song-writing is very much a collaborative effort. ‘We normally have a bunch of riff ideas ourselves and then we all come together to complete our vision…We all take part in the writing. All the songs have some sort of collaboration going on, even though some may be very minor alterations. We try to collaborate on projects as much as possible without destroying the original vision.’
While the band collaborates strongly on the music, the lyrics are Liam’s department, as you’d expect. ‘Lyrics are normally written based on an emotion or a story I am thinking of at the time that I want to project. Although sometimes I have some melodies in my head that I really like which I try to put into my lyrics. Some songs are more about a story I am telling whether fictional or somewhat true. Others are about a feeling or emotion I am feeling at the time and can be hidden beneath metaphors.’
Liam is proud that Medevil have a high level of quality control when it comes to their music. ‘In total we probably scrapped eight songs in favour of the ones included on the album. Our early sound, from 2011-2014, was mostly a rock-esque type of metal. ‘In The Distance’, ‘The Angel of Rain’ and ‘A Sacrifice’ are all from the early days of the band. When we included Brett and Gary in the band in 2014, we started leaning towards a much faster and more progressive style.’
A similar level of thought went into the track listing. ‘The track listing was a long task, it was most decided based on what we thought was the best listening experience for our fans and for how we like to set up our live shows with some changes. Fans can expect new material in the coming years and regular tours once or twice a year.’
Liam rates the bands live show highly. ‘People can expect a refined sound from us as well as a powerful energy, and a good connection between the band members. Fans can tell we are a band of friends!’
Liam reveals that the letter ‘M’ is very significant in Medevil’s top five influences, which are ‘Metalica, Megadeth, Mastodon, Metal Church, and Iron Maiden!’
And now we can add Medevil to that proud list of bands beginning with M who all released powerful a debut album.

About:
Loud, unrelenting high voltage crust and roll. 2015 proves to be an exciting year for the Fredericton’s ambitious hell raisers Hard Charger. The Trio will embark on their first ever US tour which will see them play 40 plus shows in as many days. They will be heading south in support of their latest release, the 2014 split LP with Fargo North Dakota’s SOTOS. The album which was released on North Carolina label Bigger Boat Records has gotten favorable reviews on both sides of the border. “The riffs are sick and the headbanging is involuntary” says Los Angeles fanzine Razorcake. Also on the plate is a follow a up release. The band has been busy working on their third full length album which they hope to have out by the end of the year. “The new album is going to kill. It’s going to be the same sort of crusty rock and roll we’re known for but we’ve spent a lot more time crafting these songs than we have on any of our previous releases. It’s a whole new level of Hard Charger” says guitarist Dave Cook.
Since their inception in late 2006 Hard Charger has accomplished a lot. They didn’t start off playing local shows like most bands. Their first show was on their first tour and they have hit the road hard ever since. Playing hundreds of shows in every province in Canada and over a dozen countries in Europe on their four trips over seas. They are truly one of New Brunswicks biggest musical exports. Their first release was 2008’s self titled CD on Winnipeg’s No List Records. That album was soon after released in Europe on French label CounterAct Records. In the same year Nerve Hold Records released the Bombs Will Reign 7” and Capitol Kill Records released a split 7” with Ironfist. The second full length album, also released on No List Records, was 2011’s “This Machine is Driving” released on LP, CD, and cassette tape format. In 2013 they released the Chrome Lord 7” on Primeval Sounds and their own label Waste Of Time Records. The Chrome Lord EP was also released on cassette tape by Ukrainian label Voices From Inside Records with two additional tracks which also appeared on Doomsday Machine Records 20 anniversary 4×7” box set.
With a plethora of releases and shows under their belt Hard Charger show no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Hard Charger is Tom, Dave, Shawn.
