0 Melodic Metal – The Chronicles of Israfel – A Trillion Light, Tome II
0 Grande Rock – Almah – E.V.O
This year is the 10th anniversary of Almah as a band, and they couldn’t have found a better way to celebrate than the release of probably their top album to date, the magnificent “E.V.O”.
0 Dead Rhetoric – Krepitus – The Eyes of The Soulless
A case where the music keeps its vicious edge but the melodies are just as wickedly triumphant, The Eyes of the Soulless is one to check out for the death/thrash fanbase. For a debut to escape being easily pegged as “this style” or “that style” alone is worthy of a few kudos, but the musical precision that Krepitus is already employing gives an even bigger reason to check them out. A rock-solid start for these guys.

0 Canadian Beats – Review – Shark Infested Daughters – These Tides, Our Tombs
Packed full of speedy riffs and crushing breakdowns, fans will have to come up for air with each new track or risk being lost to the depths of it’s beautiful melodies. The musicianship is expertly displayed, immediately intense and surprisingly diverse. The vocals are executed brilliantly, and the dichotomy of Erika Leah’s siren song voice against the pure aggression of Chris Thoresen gives the album an overall feeling of decadent dread.

Calgary Metalfest V Raises Over $7,000 From Live Charity Auction For Make-A-Wish-Foundation Alberta
This year’s Calgary Metalfest, held from September 14-17, saw an incredible historic line up that included ANNIHILATOR, the original line up of EXCITER, thrash veterans RAZOR and SACRIFICE plus killer sets from THE EXALTED PILEDRIVER, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, GATEKRASHÖR, DISCIPLES OF POWER, THE ORDER OF CHAOS and many more!
With all these performances over 3 nights in Alberta’s largest mosh pit, the festival organizers are no strangers in giving back to the community, using the event since 2013 to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta.
This year’s live charity auction, which is held in between band sets, had multiple offerings and bidding donors that lead the festival to raised its highest ever amount of over $7,000 to help the children.
CMF organizers comment:
“Thank you to everyone who donated and bid on all these items! We were able to smash our previous record from last year by over triple!
