0 1340 Mag – Double Experience – Unsaved Progress
The best bands create an identity that strikes a chord with listeners. In the best cases it’s less of a gimmick and more of a personality that embeds songs in the listener’s mind, in a special spot that only those snippets of bliss inhabit. Canadian power trio Double Experience do just that. Their nerdy take on alt-metal falls somewhere between the heavy creativity of Coheed And Cambria, and the hooky brilliance of Weezer. Lyrically, the band mines sci-fi and video game themes without limiting content to that area only. The result is original metal with huge pop hooks that hit the listener hard. The impressive results can be heard on their third album, Unsaved Progress.
Double Experience creates music that is immersive. These songs hold the listener in their grasp, creating waves of power and melody. Unsaved Progress is so good I bought the band’s previous releases after listening to this album . What higher compliment can I give?

0 Canadian Beats – Illyrian – Round 2: Fight!
a mosh pit massacring new album appropriately titled Round 2: Fight! Unrelenting, face-melting and otherwise utterly insane, this album is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser!!
0 wonderbox Metal – Tactus – Bending Light
With a powerful and modern production that shines with a gleaming, newly polished sheen, the music has all of the setting it needs to impress, and impress it does.
Technical ability is one thing, but there’s more than just that on Bending Light. Here is a band with the ability to channel these technical skills into actual songs, and the tracks on this album largely hit the spot. It’s 60 minutes long, but it’s the mark of a good album that the attention doesn’t waver and Bending Light is an easy listen

About BML:
Black Mourning Light Metal Festival is the black metal and doom festival founded by Dustin Ekman of Crown of Viserys. Created to fill a void in Edmonton’s black and doom scene.
After a successful debut during Halloween 2015, Black Mourning Light Festival returns for a 2016 edition set from October 21st-23rd. The onslaught will be held at the Rendezvous Pub with a lineup of bands from across Western Canada all in the vein of black and doom metal along with select death styles. Last year’s line up included 11 bands from three provinces such as headliner Idolatry (Edmonton), Altars of Grief (Regina), Noire (Winnipeg), Ossific (Winnipeg), Vile Insignia (Calgary) and more.
Those that attended the 2015 inaugural ritual will not be disappointed by 2016, as they can expect a different while similar experience to that event. Due to the proximity of Samhain, costume prizes will still be awarded to those who wish to dress up early and celebrate the season.

Full album stream can be heard at the following link: http://illyrian.bandcamp.com/album/round-2-fight
Formed in 2011 under the name Hellborn Death Engines, the band is resurfacing under the new moniker ILLYRIAN with the recent additions of bassist / vocalist Jeff Perry (Sikarra, ex-Animus Labyrinth) plus British drum sensation Darren May (ex-Deacon Birch) who have brought new and progressive musical mindsets into the band to join original and founding members Scott Onofrychuk (guitars/vocals) and Brandon McNeil (guitar/vocals).
Evolving into a highly technical group playing thrash metal with their erratic and precise on-stage delivery, rapier wit, along with nostalgic charm, ILLYRIAN have removed the constraints of conventional metal sub-genre formula to replace their sound with a melting pot of technical thrash riffs, blistering solos, prog-influenced rhythms along with the band’s signature tri-vocal attack.

Album Length: 44:05

0 Kultur 666 – Hellrbous – The Carnal Sabbath
“a well written album, the compositions are a mix of melodic metal along a range of guttural low and raspy vocal performances. A great black/death album for a wide range of metal fans.”
