Johnny Ray is a vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Florida, best known as the vocalist and keyboardist for progressive metal band The Mourning, as well as the vocalist for 3 Headed Snake, which features two-time Grammy-nominated guitarist Sin Quirin (formerly of Ministry).
His solo project is a more personal outlet, built around heavy, melodic music and lyrics that deal with what goes on inside of us when life starts taking its toll. Fear, survival, identity, self-neglect, and the fight to take control of your own life are recurring themes, but the songs aren’t meant to tell the listener what to feel.
They’re personal, but there’s enough room for people to hear their own story in them.
The first single, “Free My Soul,” deals with the point where simply surviving isn’t enough anymore, and the realization that eventually you have to show up for yourself.
