About the EP Artwork:
The EP artwork represents the struggles that we all have, having parts of the lyrics from each song pouring into the skull head and then pouring from the eyes and mouth, a representation of struggles and spiral into madness and to a dark place.

About the EP:

It is a dark journey into subjects and deep dark thoughts influenced by our culture and personal traumas.

This EP has come from a mixture of hard work, ambition, and lots of dark thoughts and aggression.

The recording process was fun yet we looked for perfection to make the songs as we imagined them with the best quality that we could make.

STORY ANGLES – FUN FACTS:

1.     In 2007 Refuge was a song that was recorded multiple times during the years but we were never satisfied with the result as it we face either issues with quality or doesn’t sound as we hoped , our vocalist screamed in the recording so hard that his balls started hurting the next day , still we didnt like the result and scraped that whole thing

2.     The Bassist was found in a supermarket Ads board, literally , Dune had a beginner bassist where the band was looking for someone who could add strength to the band , the vocalist found an ad in the supermarket board ( where people can put up anything they are looking for or requests ) of someone looking for bass teacher , he contacted the person and lied saying I play guitar and I can teach you bass , the plan was to trick him into joining the band as a bassist and as they met they clicked and Mamdoh have joined DUNE as their bassist

3.     Samer ( Vocalist ) Yazan ( Ex-Guitarst ) used to meet up late night to write and play music since Samer used to work as Hotel Receptionist where he is only free late night /early morning .

4.     Reject was redone multiple times and the song structure had drastic multiple changes , the demo of the song sounds nothing like the final result as we kept removing and adding parts till we felt the song became tight and make sense.

5. In the early years around 2006 or 2005 we had the band full equipment stolen after a rehearsal , we kept our stuff in our cars and went to chill somewhere to later come and find out that someone broke into our cars and stole our stuff , were talking about guitar and guitar , bass , pedals effects , Amps , mics , you could imagine how devastating such incident to a band specially we were very young and were so broke financially , after months we kept saving and tried to build up and bought instruments again till got all we need and kept moving forward as a band.

DUNE is a thrash metal band mixed and fused with other influences such as Djent, Nu-Metal, Oriental & Groove metal. Formed around 2004 and going on hiatus in 2007 at the peak of the Saudi metal scene, the quartet resurrected in 2021.

They have performed multiple live shows from the old SA METAL era and made their live return at the first Riyadh Inferno & Riyadh Desert Rock Fest in 2022 along with multiple metal nights at Soroor Music Centre & Syrup Lounge.

Fast forward to 2024, DUNE is now preparing to unleash a chainsaw of heavy guitars, chunky clicky bass slaps, high drums techniques, and aggressive vocals on their forthcoming EP “Years of Chains” that draws upon their own life experiences and musical style to create their signature middle eastern metal sound.

About The Album Artwork

We’ve been working with Cate Francis for all our album artwork since 2009. She always gets exactly what I have in my head. This piece represents the title track, where you see a human figure struggling to resist the inevitable forces of decay, chaos, and death. The idea of ‘versus’ entropy here is that most humans spend their lives trying to halt those processes, to create permanent things or to live forever. And we all fail. And so, like on all our art, the Flame of the Righteous symbol is inside the figure’s chest, representing the internalized negative ideas that are causing this struggling, and linking them to many other negative forces on our other album covers such as religion, capitalism, and state-sponsored violence.

About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Existing fans of Derelict will recognize that it’s us right away. We play technical death metal with lots of melody and vocals that are more on the clear in intelligible side (for death metal). That said, we let ourselves experiment and explore on this album. 2012’s ‘Perpetuation’ was full-steam ahead. It didn’t have a single clean passage. While we are very proud of that album, we did not want to do that again. We wanted an album that hits hard, breathes, and ends before you get overwhelmed. We were heavily influenced by the structure of Gorguts’ ‘Colored Sands’ album, where they put a long instrumental piece as the fifth track of a nine-song album. We set out to do something similar and wrote our first full-band proggy instrumental song with ‘Attunement’. It serves as a bridge between two halves of the album. The first four songs probably resemble the Derelict people are most familiar with, but even within that there’s more dynamics and variation. After Attunement, the second half experiments even more. Dans Les Dents is Max’s first song on lead vocals and is probably our most brutal song to date. Spectrum challenges conventions with more of a bluesy / southern metal sound, but the lyrics are about celebrating differences within masculinity by making space for all kinds of identities. The song Derelict is very thrashy and also very cheesy. It’s an ode to the band’s history and I really didn’t hold back on the cheesy and sentimental lyrics. And finally The Escapist, another sung by Max, is very old school and progressive. You can definitely hear Max’s Death and Atheist influences there.

Several of the songs on Versus Entropy explore typical themes for Derelict, those being climate change, social injustice, anger and hopelessness in the face of the capitalist machine, etc. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to avoid those topics entirely, or if I would want to. But there is more emotion and introspection on this album that we had before. Versus Entropy (the song) is about the futile struggle to create something permanent in the face of the natural processes of decay. Infinite Dread is about the feeling of getting lost in a world run by algorithms. The entire second half of the album is about personal and emotional topics that we had never explored before.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Versus Entropy – If someone had never heard Derelict before and wanted to get an impression in one song, this would be the one. It’s melodic tech death with some brutal riff breaks, dueling solos, a lovely clean break, and an epic crescendo. The lyrics are about the human struggle to stave off decay and decline, which of course is impossible, and the toll that it takes.

Infinite Dread – Similar to Versus Entropy, this is a tech death song, no questions asked. The verse is in 5/4, which is hard to sing over. The tech bridge in the middle is incredibly fun to play. The lyrics describe the negative impact of having our brains plugged into social media algorithms that in turn feed on us, distilling our fears and desires into products, making content out of our reactions to those products, hyper focusing it all, more and more and more.

Terminal – This is a riffy-er song, definitely taking some inspiration from Revocation, Meshuggah, and Decapitated. It has a nice black metal bridge and an out-of-nowhere breakdown outro. The lyrics compare the fact that our civilization has super-advanced systems for analyzing and tracking the economy, which is a social construct, while we have much fewer systems for analyzing the planet, which is our life support system and is currently in rapid decline.

Workhorse – Tech death with Gorod influences as well as sprinkles of grindcore. Very heavy. Lyrically, this song was inspired by a pipe fitter I met in Hamilton Ontario after attending a labor union meeting. He told me about his struggle to get a unionized position. I said, ‘yeah, I imagine that without a pension it must be difficult to plan for retirement’. He answered, ‘buddy, my retirement plan is a nine-millimeter’. So yeah, Workhorse is an ode to the angry working class who were told to work hard and they’d be rewarded, only to find out that capitalism doesn’t care about them at all. It’s also a warning to our whole society: if people get mad and desperate enough, they’ll revolt, and we’ll have deserved it.

Attunement – The title of this song is a word used in D&D to describe the process of connecting to a magical object to make it yours. We used it as the title for our first ever instrumental to sort of represent the process of connecting to music more naturally and creatively and letting the song become literal whatever it needed to be.

Dans Les Dents – This song was written a while ago. Dans les Dents, which means “In the Teeth” but in English it would be more like “In your face”. It started as a working title but it just matched the music so well. The song deals with social media and the addiction you can get from the immediate gratification that comes from it.

Spectrum – I was listening to a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan at the time. We’ve always been fans of Southern metal and blues based music but it’s never been apparent in our music. We thought it would be fun to do a Southern style song but run it through a Derelict blender. The lyrics are about inclusive masculinity and openness. This is new territory for us musically and I’m very excited about it.

Derelict – Most of the music for this song was written in the wake of finding out that Trevor Strnad from Black Dahlia has passed away. It got me thinking about the importance of a band to the people in the band itself, and what Derelict meant to me. The song is thrashy, melodic, and anthemic. The lyrics are about the band itself.

The Escapist – Some of these riffs have been around since about 2013. I think it’s a combination of classic Derelict elements like the trem picking and odd time signatures but with a cool type of groove and some exotic gypsy scale breaks and leads. The lyrics are about wanting to escape your reality, be it through substances, media or other avenues. I think this one is both brutal and progressive in equal amounts. I think you could describe the album that way as a whole so we thought it was a nice way to wrap it up.

FUN FACTS – STORY ANGLES

1. Max Lussier’s partner is Lady Boom Boom, a professional Drag Queen who appeared on Season 3 of Canada’s Drag Race. On one episode of the show, Boom and another contestant have a rather revealing on-camera discussion about Max.

2. Eric Burnet runs his own practice as a therapist as his main career. He originally became a social worker after working with at-risk youth, a job he got using his knowledge and skills as a death metal musician. He likes to say that death metal made him a therapist.

3. Original Derelict drummer Jordan Perry contributed additional backup vocals for two songs on Versus Entropy, the title track and the song Derelict. Jordan left the band due to the time constraints of his own busy music career as a drummer and producer in Saskatoon, but remains close with the guys and maintains an honorary Derelict member status.

4. The members of Derelict live in four different parts of the world. Only Max remains in the band’s hometown of Montreal. Eric lives in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Tommy lives in Vancouver, BC. Sébastien lives in his native Switzerland.

5. When Eric and Max first met with Versus Entropy mixing and mastering producer JF Dagenais (Kataklysm) to discuss the project, what they thought would be a quick technical discussion turned into a two-hour zoom hang where they connected on music and life in general, with Eric and JF benefitting from the rarer occasion to converse in Québécois French and share the experience of living outside of Montreal (JF lives in Dallas).

6. Derelict never declared a breakup or official end to the band, but had been indefinitely on ice since late 2013. It was only in 2021 when Eric and Max were casually discussing their current guitar-playing habits that they got the idea to experiment with writing for the band again. Max sent Eric a riff he had that could work for Derelict. Eric immediately wrote a follow-up riff and sent it back. Max was inspired, and the back-and-forth continued. Within 48 hours they had Clear Cut, the first new Derelict song in a decade. They decided to release it on the 10-year anniversary of the Perpetuation album and reunited that album’s lineup for the project. The song was about the struggle of the Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders and Water Protectors against industrial encroachment on their ancestral territory, as well as the hypocrisy inherent in Canadian society whereby Canadians often see themselves as kind and peaceful all the while being silently complicit in ongoing cultural genocide. Derelict collaborated with a project raising money for the Wet’suwet’en legal defense team and made all proceeds from Clear Cut dedicated to them. The band also collaborated with some of the Wet’suwet’en people to review the song’s lyrics and cover art, gaining their consent to speak about their cause and their approval on the final product.

After a long hiatus, Derelict returned in 2022 with the ‘Clear Cut’ single, marking the beginning of the second arc of their career. Now in 2024, they’ve released ‘Versus Entropy’, a new full-length album featuring another cutthroat dose of technical death metal that is refined and tempered by the band’s added years of maturity and introspection.

Originally hailing from Montreal, Derelict rose to prominence with a string of releases and tours between 2005 and 2013. Their trademark sound mixed elements of extreme Québécois bands like Cryptopsy and Beneath the Massacre with influences from American and European acts like Revocation and Decapitated. 

Derelict’s efforts during those years were rewarded by consistent college radio charting, a nomination at the 2013 Canadian Independent Music Awards, and performances alongside Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Decapitated, Cryptopsy, Martyr, Blackguard, Threat Signal, Anonymus, and many more.

Derelict’s first major chapter came to an end in late 2013 when the members decided to put the band on ice indefinitely to focus on other aspects of their lives and careers. It was unclear if they would ever reform.

Years went by. In 2021, by chance, Eric Burnet (vocals/guitar) and Max Lussier (guitar/vocals) were having a casual conversation about music. Eric remarked that it would soon be the 10-year anniversary of their last album, 2012’s ‘Perpetuation’. Max responded that he just happened to have a riff lying around that would work well for Derelict… What if the band released a single for the anniversary?

This led to a reunion of the ‘Perpetuation’ recording lineup and the release of the ‘Clear Cut’ single in 2022. Reinvigorated by the experience of making music together again, this time with a greater dose of maturity and wisdom, the band continued writing with the intent of releasing a new full-length album.

Derelict worked hard for the next two years to create something that would not only satisfy their longtime fans with a cutthroat dose of technical death metal, but also showcase their growth as musicians and people. ‘We’re much less afraid to take chances now,’ comments Burnet. ‘Songs like Attunement and Spectrum would have never made it onto an album twelve years ago because we were very concerned with keeping our style uniform and recognizable. Now, we’re confident enough to try new things through a Derelict filter. I think that letting go of ego and being creatively free made this album what it is’.

2024’s ‘Versus Entropy’ was mixed and mastered by JF Dagenais (Kataklysm). ‘We’ve always preferred working with people from Quebec whenever possible, because our roots are truly in our home province’s scene’, comments Burnet. ‘I’ve been a fan of JF’s work for years, and when we met to discuss this project, we not only spoke the same language (literally), but we really spoke the same language from a musical mindset as well. And his work simply speaks for itself’.

Despite the fact that the band recorded in their respective cities and countries (Vancouver BC, Montreal QC, Sydney NS, and Romainmotier, Switzerland), ‘Versus Entropy’ is their most collaborative album to date. Eight out of nine of the songs were composed by Burnet and Lussier together, and where Burnet assumed some lead guitar duties on the album, Lussier stepped into the spotlight for some lead vocal work as well. “I had written Dans les Dents for Derelict before the split and it stayed with me throughout the years,’’ comments Lussier. ‘I had all the music and lyrics, and when we were writing this album I sent Eric the demo I had recorded at home. He just said “Ok! So you’re doing the lead vocal on that one”. I just told myself “well, ok then I guess.” I had done lead vocals in my old band so it was nice to get back into it. The same thing happened for The Escapist, the closing track. What was also cool is that, kind of in a similar vein, Eric played quite a bit of lead guitar on this album, which he had never focused on as much before. It was all very organic and collaborative despite being a long-distance affair. We had a lot of fun and I think you can hear that on the album.”

Another major difference for Derelict on Versus Entropy was the addition of drummer Tommy McKinnon, a veteran of the Quebec metal scene known for his work in Neuraxis, Akurion, Conflux, and more. ‘Jordan was one of Derelict’s founding members and a big part of our sound’, says Burnet. ‘Knowing we had to find a replacement after he stepped down was nerve wracking. We put together a list of our ideal candidates, and Tommy’s name was the first one at the top. We contacted him and he said yes right away. It’s been an honor working with him. I mean, I grew up on Neuraxis!’

About The EP Artwork

The cover art comprises a collection of all the musical themes of the songs on the EP. But it is heavily focused on the oppressive nature of authoritarianism and how we are blinded by the cycles that we are doomed to repeat, after all it is the main addition of our society.

The EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Like the cover art the album deals with oppression and cycles of addition, be it drugs, power or religion. Similar to how our debut release “Thin the Herd, Fail to Learn” leaned heavily on the intellectual teachings of Noam Chomsky “Psycles” leans on the compassionate thoughts of fellow Canadian Gabor Mate where empathy is a mainstay in surviving our current traumatic political climate.  

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

1. The Trauma of History
– We wanted the intro of this song to tie into the end of our previous release “Thin the Herd, Fail to Learn” and kick of the theme of this EP of overcoming adversity and oppression by not ignoring our past, but understanding how the trauma of the past has shaped our current landscape, to learn from it. Only then can we break the endless cycle of repetition and revenge and grow through empathy and compassion.

Musically it’s the longest track on the album which embraces the band’s philosophy of combining elements of chaotic grind with doom-laden sludge in which we feel the contrast between the elements amplifies the intensity and urgency when combined and solidifies the lyrical theme.

2. Psycles
– This song directly addresses pharmaceutical profiteering harvested from the pain and torment of our traumatic past. Leaving society weakened, and so addicted that they cannot recognize how they are being manipulated let alone organize to stand up against the tyranny being thrust upon them. Musically focused to be quick and intense mirroring the anxiety one feels to silence the voices of trauma that arise without that next fix.

3. Coercion
– Corruption is the core of authoritarianism and is an essential need of our society, and our one true religion. Musically we wanted a mid-paced groove in the middle of the EP to give a touch of rest from the chaos and a repeating theme that can bring the message home.

4. Halo of Flies
– Our lead track and another quick and intense battering. Directly addressing the harms and trauma caused by the patriarchy and our collective roles in it. It goes beyond the history of harm, and oppression of 50% of our society but also addresses the manipulation to propagate the myth that a majority of our society needs to be subservient to our masters who have been gifted privilege by simply being born in the right color, shape and righteous area of the world.
 
5. Excision (Lost Cause)
– The closing track to the EP brings back the main musical direction of the band with contrasts of chaotic speed with slow sludging beats. Thematically we wanted to bring home the need for empathy to help end the division rampant in our culture. Only by understanding that oppositional views have been driven into us and passed down by generations of trauma and manipulation can we begin to collectively heal. No healing can come just from the amputation of our problems, in fact, this can cause even more harm and propagate the cycles of repetition. Elements of our society are not just a lost cause because they embrace the fear pounded into them or once opposed and oppressed others, but they can be turned around through empathy bringing out their humanity. We really wanted to bring this message home via slow doom-laden repetition, to amplify the message and hopefully effect change in the listener and motivate them to act.

FUN FACTS – STORY ANGLES

1. Ben and Shane played with Chris in the reunion of Disciples of Power without Hart in 2012. Even though Chris and Shane both played in DOP with Hart in the 80’s and 90’s it wasn’t until the reunion did they meet for the first time.

2. Ben, Chris and Curtis first started working together on Suicide Pact in 2022, after years of working with other musicians trying to revive the Culled line up it was the comradery felt during the initial Suicide Pact sessions that lead Ben to suggest they be a part of Culled, needless to say everything came together very quickly once they did. It was Suicide Pact’s Rob Lawless who recorded the EP

3. After years of being in the scene together only in 2023 did Curtis and Shane meet face to face. Upon Curtis’ introduction to Shane he immediately hopped on the kit and started to play segments from his very first band which was released 30 years previously back in 1993

4. “Psycles” themes was born from the learnings of Canadian physician Gabor Maté where he teaches the links between trauma and our societal behaviors.

5. The “Halo of Flies” video was shot in the historic Starlite Room in Edmonton Alberta. A legendary venue now owned and operated by long time friend of the band Tyson Cale Boyd. The choice of this venue was paramount for the band as it not only a icon of the Alberta music scene but also to honor the hard work and dedication Tyson and his staff have put into the local scene. https://www.starliteroom.ca/

6. Psycles has always been intended to be a shorter EP with the initial goal of around 20 minutes of material to showcase the new direction of the band and kick-off the creative energy and revitalization of the project. Coming in just under 21 minutes it will be presented on a 1 sided 12 LP with a special screened B side that will be a unique piece of physical media that the band is very proud of and will be self-releasing along with a limited cassette. Culled is a Sludge/Doom Encrusted Grind band from Alberta Canada with members residing in Calgary & Edmonton The band features members with a historical impact in the Western Canadian heavy music scene with former and current members of bands such as Thorazine, Disciples of Power, WAKE, Exit Strategy, Broken Nose, Fuquored, Mass Distraction, Begrime Exemious, The Noumenon, Section VIII, Acantha, and Bestir.

The band started in early 2017 with the intention of embracing the contrast of slow crushing sludge and doom riffs with the blistering speed and chaos of grindcore ripe with messages of peace, love and that implore the need for empathy in todays unpredictable and instable political climate.

The debut Mini LP “Thin the Herd, Fail to Learn” released October 26th 2018 on LP by Philadelphia independent label Hibernation Release as well as Cassette, CD and Digital by the band themselves. The five unrelenting tracks spanning 25+ minutes embrace the contrast of doom filled riffs with the blistering speed and chaos of grindcore.

Mathy, cacophonous and angular, Culled sound like the pangs of the industrial complex working overtime. Technical and percussive segments break into heavy, trudging hooks on a dime. The politically charged lyrics are heavily influenced by the writings of famed linguist Noam Chomsky and reflect on the oppressive atrocities of the day and is a mainstay for the group in order create awareness and drive home a call to action. The experience is absolutely uncompromising in force, emotion and energy.

2023 brings new members and a new energy to Culled with the addition of bassist Chris Chapman (Disciples of Power, Mass Distraction, & Suicide Pact) and Curtis Blair (Broken Nose, Fuquored, and Suicide Pact) behind the kit. The album “Psycles” was recorded from Oct – Dec 2023 with Rob Lawless at Lawless Recording, Mixed by Jesse Gander at Rain City Studios and Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Mastering and will have a physical and digital release in 2024.

About The Album Artwork:

It is a representation of Plato’s allegory of the cave.

In the background, there is a representation of eyes symbolizing vision, while in the foreground, our protagonist is portrayed freeing herself from the cave.

About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

The album tells part of the story of a philosophical work that portrays religion as a psychological illness, illustrating how men become blind in the pursuit of power.

The entire musical structure creates an operatic scenario, where characters interact within a symphonic plot characterized by rapid pace and melodious themes.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Desolate World, The initial idea was to create a suspenseful atmosphere with the theme of the next song, so we referenced the most famous suspense song of all time in our opinion: Main title and First Victim from Jaws.

Concerto No6. in C Minor, Cold Spring, the name references Vivaldi as it is a violin orchestral song.  The lyrics present the initial context of the story, describing a world desolate by the epidemic of an unknown disease that caused blindness.

Black Wings, A song that mixes Brazilian folk elements with a direct reference to forró (regional Brazilian musical style). It rescues the pre-epidemic period of history, presenting the protagonist: Black Wings and her life story.

Reasons to not Believe, Based on a piano piece, the song tells the story of how the protagonist managed to move forward and fight for her freedom of thought.

I fell the plague,  Along with the song “The Cure,” they are the most death/black on the album, presenting a blend of speed and melody. The lyrics introduce new characters and a crucial point in the plot.

The Priest,  As a tribute to the band Batushka, whose name means “priest,” we introduced the priest character into the plot. This incorporation was our method of blending Polish black metal elements with grindcore to evoke the atmosphere we envisioned for this story.

Endless night battle , The concept behind the lyrics was to depict an epic war, and we aimed for the music to reflect this theme. To achieve this, we combined symphonic elements with sections of intense true black metal (90’s), incorporating trumpets to announce the commencement of battle.

War Sonata, This song transports us back to the origins of symphonic black metal in the 2000s, and its lyrics evoke the tranquility of the post-war period, blending elements of blues and classical music.

Age of Death, The rawest and fastest song on the album, featuring striking elements of black metal, it presents the story of envisioning a return to the Dark Ages in today’s world.

Angels & Devils, This song serves as a reverse association to the main theme of the album, acting as a counterpoint to the introduction. Like the first two songs, it features extensive violin orchestration and concludes the story with the suggestion that everything was merely a philosophical reflection within a dream.

From the Flames of Ideas to Extreme Paradise

With the intention of challenging pre-established ideas, the band PARADISE IN FLAMES was formed in 2002 in the city of Santa Luzia, Minas Gerais, inspired by the good old Death/Black Metal forged in the fire of one of the most brutal scenes in the world. Quickly gaining prominence in the local scene, their first demo, “Empire in Ashes”, was released in 2003, followed by the EP “Devil From The Sky” in 2004. These releases opened up opportunities for the band, leading to appearances and interviews on specialized radio stations becoming a routine. The band participated in important Heavy Metal festivals like ForCaos (Fortaleza) and made a name for themselves in the Heavy Metal scene. This success propelled the release of their first album, “Homo Morbus Est” (2006), released by Democratic Records Brazil and distributed by MDR Records in Portugal in 2006.

Due to their success in the specialized media and with the audience, the band embarked on a tour in 2007, covering more than 15 Brazilian states, including sharing the stage with Krisiun. “Labirinto das Metáforas” (2013) was their subsequent release. Bringing deep philosophical reflection in their lyrics, the band was visionary in releasing the album on digital platforms at a time when little was spoken about this form of promotion. PARADISE IN FLAMES resumed their activities in 2018 and released several singles in 2019, with notable tracks like “Has Never Seen a World Without Wars”, whose music video reached 350K views on YouTube. In 2019, the band broke boundaries and performed in various Latin American countries, bringing their identity-filled sound infused with blazing notes of pure hatred.

Throughout 2019 and 2020, the band released several singles and initiated important changes, including the permanent inclusion of female vocals. PARADISE IN FLAMES released several highly successful music videos as singles, which attracted the interest of the record label Blood Blast (Nuclear Blast), culminating in the release of their third album, “Devil’s Collection” (2020), by Poison Records in Brazil and Hellven Rec in Portugal. At this point, the band experienced a meteoric rise, with appearances in heavyweight international magazines like Metal Hammer and invitations for international tours that had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Act I” emerges as the rebirth element in the band’s career in 2021, presenting a much more mature sound that incorporates bold symphonic elements from the keyboards while maintaining the weight and extreme speed of their identity in the new lineup. They continue to confront all kinds of prejudices, precepts, and fixed ideas, now as a quintet composed of three vocalists with diverse styles that complement each other. The band releases several music videos for their new songs, with standout tracks like “Bringer of Disease”, a fierce critique of human blindness in the face of political fallacies, and “Dancer of The Mist”, which explores the sacred and profane femininity. In 2022, PARADISE IN FLAMES t00k a major step in their career by embarking on their First International Tour, covering various countries in Southern, Eastern, and Northern Europe alongside major extreme bands like I Am Morbid, Batushka, and Diabolical.

Shortly after returning to Brazil, they released the EP “Past In Files”, featuring old songs re-recorded with the new symphonic lineup, done in a fully analog format. In 2023, the band returned to European lands on a new tour with Batushka and Hate, still promoting Act I. Currently, the band is releasing new singles that will be part of their new EP, “Preludium”. They are preparing for the release of a new album “Blindness” for June 2024 and continue to work on more music videos and touring.
