IVY GARDENS Continues Their Stoner Barrage With Video “Stoic” To Kick Off Canadian Tour (ON, QC, NB, NS, PEI)

Ivy Gardens, the grunge powerhouse from Niagara, Canada, stands as a testament to complete collaboration and total honesty. Formed on Ivy Gardens Crescent, the band’s journey began with a shared passion for crafting music that resonates with sonic belligerence and intensity. They have recently released their album “Goon” and have a supporting tour coming up quickly. In the meantime, they are dropping a new music video for the single “Stoic”, which they comment on:

“Stoic is our most lyrically packed song on the album as well as rhythmically unique. Bouncing between hard-hitting dirges, biting riffs, and quick, jumping rhythms, the song explores the perspective of someone with a lot of self-destructive behaviour, who still manages to find peace through it. The titular Stoic, while seemingly devoted to his philosophy, uses it more as a tool, and even an excuse.”

Every song on “Goon” is a result of complete collaboration, with each member contributing to the skeleton of a song. Within, listeners will be met with the grooves of stoner metal, the crushing nature of sludge, the muscular energy of nu metal, and the attitude of good ol’ fashioned doom.

Just like the album, an Ivy Garden’s gig doesn’t disappoint. They are headed out on tour shortly and will be bringing sonic belligerence, and euphoria through volume to cities across the region. Their vulgar, punky “dog ass music” is recommended for fans of Truckfighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana.

“…the sonic equivalent of a panic attack.” – Canadian Beats

“Stoner metal, a little chilled sounding, but fast paced, cool stuff.” – Mosh Pit – WORT 89.9 FM (Madison, WI)

““Boner” has got a really cool groove, too, showing you what can happen when you’ve got a band that is truly possessed by the power of The Riff. It’s one of those grinding, motoriffic jobs in the spirit of Kyuss’ “Green Machine.” And it doesn’t take long before we, too, are caught under its sway. The retro organ sound from the keys provides a spooky touch to the chorus, which comes like a sigh of relief after the tense build-up of those guitar-driven verses. The drumming is swarmy and frenetic, and strikes with power at pivotal moments. The breakdown at 4 minutes is a headbanging oasis, made even cooler with the synthesizer’s late-’60s garage twist.” – Doomed and Stoned

“This Canadian trio are promising us a debut album that is “a relentless onslaught of vulgar, belligerent punk, sludge and sweat” when it is released in April. If this lead single is anything to go by, things are going to get very belligerent and sweaty when the full-lengther finally hits our death decks.” – Uber Rock”GOON is an action packed and turbocharged release powered by Pissed Off grooves and a snarling Punk Rock Attitude which allows IVY GARDENS to deliver a devastating FREAKY slice of Psychedelic Sludge/Stoner Metal.” – Outlaws of The Sun

Enter The Warp With CETRAGORE’s Extreme New Single “Changer Of Ways”

Cetragore, from Quincy, USA has been creating an extreme blend of “Nerd Metal” since their inception in 2019. Following the success of their debut EP “Chancellors of Death” and the critically acclaimed LP “Plagued by Birth” they now have a new track “Changer of Ways” coming out that mixes black, death, and sludge metal with deathcore and themes from Warhammer. The band comments on the track:

“Changer of Ways was the first piece we wrote as a true 3 piece. It stands for the shifts and twists we took as a unit when we started writing as 3, but we love the results. It tells the tale of someone caught up in webs they are not equipped for, woven by one who relishes in your indecision causing you to believe his twisted plan. This is the second song in a cycle loosely based on certain demon lords from the Warhammer universe.”

Known for their nerdy humor and lyrical themes revolving around gaming and cults, Cetragore also takes inspiration from Magic the Gathering, and video games and breeds sonic terror with pummeling yet funky drumming, punishing and groovy rhythms, searing and soaring leads, and a hell-raising vocal attack.

Reflecting on their musical journey, Cetragore‘s evolution from death thrash to more blackened death influences has been evident in their recent releases. With “Changer of Ways” they push even further and invite fans to be seduced by chaos. They are especially appropriate for fans of Cradle of Filth, Dying Fetus, and Unearth.

About The Single Artwork

It’s the Changer of Ways seducing another victim into his plans of chaos.

About The Single:
Changer of Ways was the first piece we wrote as a true 3 piece. It stands for the shifts and twists we took as a unit when we started writing as 3, but we live the results.  It tells the tale of someone caught up in webs they are not equipped for, woven by one who relishes in your indecision causing you to believe his twisted plan.

Story Angles – Fun Facts

This is the second song in a cycle loosely based off certain demon lords from the Warhammer universe.

This is the first song to only feature Marco on guitars, and his influences stand out.

It was finished on the road on our last tour in February 2024.

It was the first time the band went fully outside on the recording and production for a song, and we could not thank Eddie at Marrow Deep Productions enough.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 3, 2024

Out Now! VESSELES’ Debut Transformative, Symphonic Black Metal EP “I Am A Demon”

Vesseles, the brainchild of esteemed West Coast metal veteran Valira Pietrangelo (Legion of Grandeur, Among the Torrent, and Arcane Existence), is making their thunderous debut with the release of EP “I Am A Demon” on May 3rd, 2024. Blending the raw intensity of symphonic black metal with a deeply personal exploration of identity dysphoria, Vesseles takes the genre in a new direction. Pietrangelo comments on the highly persona EP:

“It goes through the transformation of my identity. It flows from self-hatred, to release, ritual, and thus transformation, closing on the disconnect between soul and body. Musically there are elements of decay illustrated by a gradual increase in dissonance and unexpected change alongside more typical black metal tropes. It starts with self-hatred on ‘Suffocating Flesh’, goes to confidence in ‘I Am A Demon’, and leads into needing a release with ‘Cathartic Cruelty’.”

On “I Am A Demon”, the song concepts range from self-hatred to transformation to lashing out. In the end, there is transformation (“Vesseles Rituale”) but the EP closes out with a very expressive piece about identity dysphoria and having to cope with that until the end.

The EP features Pietrangelo on guitar, piano, lyrics, and composition, along with Adam Rupp on vocals and Nick Loiacono on drum programming. Together, they weave a dark tapestry of sound that is reminiscent of classic black metal, with modern twists and emotions. Coupled with the EP is a series of music videos that offer a visual narrative of the music. “I Am A Demon” is recommended for fans of Dimmu Borgir, Dark Funeral, and Darkthrone.

==================================================

About the album as a whole (lyrically and musically).

“I Am A Demon” goes through the transformation of my identity. It flows from self hatred, to release, ritual and thus transformation, closing on the disconnect between soul and body.

Musically there are elements of decay illustrated by a gradual increase in dissonance and unexpected change alongside more typical black metal tropes.

It starts with self hatred on Suffocating Flesh, goes to confidence in I Am A Demon, leads into needing a release with Cathartic Cruelty,

Track by Track (lyrically and musically):

SUFFOCATING FLESH is about reaching a point of self hatred and longing for a form of self that cannot be fully achieved to the point of wanting to self harm. The distant guitar sections with the decaying in dissonance piano break convey the lyrical concept alongside classic black metal riffs and catchy lead lines.

I AM A DEMON, as the title track, is about claiming my identity and feeling trapped in this world due to the limitations presented on being anything other than human. The music conveys a sad longing by going back and forth between clean and distorted with eerie piano poking through.

CATHARTIC CRUELTY focuses on the anger towards others for how things are in the world by murdering someone with catharsis. This song also introduces unsettling piano, heavier riffing and a generally more distressing atmosphere.

WRETCHED stands out as a solo piano piece. The title refers to feeling wretched with my given body and wretched as myself in the world. The composition comes from a place of sorrow and resentment with both moments of beauty and discomfort.

VESSELES RITUALE is about the ritual that is transforming me into my true demon form. It contains some chanting lines that are meant to simulate this ritual. The music also reflects the ritual direction with more open sections filled with tom work and a generally slower overall direction, closing on a larger chant including the “hell’s choir of creatures” mentioned earlier in the song’s lyrics.

DYSPHORIA is the most visually metaphorical piece diving in the identity dysphoria I must live with and how that feels. The song goes between clean and distorted with dissonance and aggression but ultimately ends with a duality of suffering and nefarious intentions, alluding to the next release.

==================================================

FUN FACTS – STORY ANGLES
This release will have 6 music videos, one per song that ties in the story visually. I tend to try for something I haven’t done before and something that you don’t see often. Taking on 6 music videos was indeed an exhausting route but I’m also very glad I went for it. I think it’s a great start to the project.

Vesseles is fairly new so there isn’t much to say that hasn’t already been said. Vesseles is built off of my identity as a demon and trying to cope with that through art and self-expression. I’m sure the fun facts and stories will fill up by the next release!

Vesseles (veh-sel-is) is the exciting first solo project from 10 year West Coast Metal veteran Valira (Legion of Grandeur, Among the Torrent, Arcane Existence) who wraps an exploration of identity dysphoria in layers of symphonic black metal.  A demon living among humans and struggling with the vessel she was born in, she turned to music before understanding its significance. Many years later, she found her true self and the importance of expressing that as loud and proud as possible. Its result, Vesseles (a spin on the word vessel) a study of self identity and pushing the boundaries of the human dominant world.

Out Now! CHUNKED’s New Primitive Death Metal EP “Inhaling The Infestation” Is Nothing Short Of Rotten And Repulsive

New EP “Inhaling the Infestation” Is Now Available On CD and Cassette From Gore House Productions

L-R: Arian Mauk (Vocals), Cole Taylor (Drums), James Stone (Bass), Dustin Mauk (Guitar)

Calling all knuckle-dragging, raw death metal fans! Prepare to embrace the savage energy of Chunked as they announce the release of their debut primitive death metal album “Inhaling the Infestation”. The man behind the project Adrian Mauk, shares his thoughts on the album:

“I wanted to create a memorable experience with this EP. With tracks like “Liquid Cranial Detonation” and “Concrete Veins” being shorter and catchier, and tracks like “Inhaling the Infestation” being more well structured and longer. For our next release, which will be a full-length, our fans can expect a minimum of 30 minutes of material.”

The lyrics on “Inhaling The Infestation”, following the traditional death metal theme, delve into violence and brutality, drawing inspiration from icons like Dying Fetus and old-school Cannibal Corpse. While the EP served as a foundation for Chunked, Mauk emphasizes that the new tracks build upon this legacy.

Chunked‘s live shows are described as violent and compelling, capturing the essence of the heavy and simple death metal they’ve perfected. Hardcore influences add an additional layer to the live experience, creating an environment where engaging and moving is paramount, whether through crowd-killing, circle pits, or intense moshing.

“Inhaling the Infestation” promises a relentless journey into the heart of death metal, showcasing the band’s mastery of primitive, heavy, and unforgettable music. It is recommended for fans of Torsofuck, Bodybox, and Fluids.

““Only Death Brings Silence” is not just an album; it’s an introspective journey into the soul of its creator. It’s an invitation to explore profound themes through the lens of progressive metal music, promising to resonate with fans and newcomers alike. With its intricate compositions and thoughtful lyrics, this album should make a significant impact on its release, urging listeners to both enjoy the primordial headbanging and obligatory “onion-face” of musical acceptance and reflect deeply on the existential themes it wrestles with, which is very relevant today and good to see, as well as hear, that the need to craft a message that resonates with everyone in the vehicle of art that can still be enjoyed in blissful ignorance. 5/5” – Metal Epidemic

“Only Death Brings Silence is an intoxicating and powerful exploration of not only the human condition but of sound. MUST LISTEN TRACKS: “Terminal”, “You Make Your Own Luck”, “One Death Brings Silence”” – Amplify The Noise

“I loved it, powerfull Metalcore energy with big guitar riffs, vocals are solid too (The Hedonic Treadmill). The production side is really good ! Bravo” – MANAGRAM Productions

“The song (The Hedonic Treadmill) is interesting, the vocals and guitar lines really hit hard, congrats. The production is good too.” Dreamfuss – Alt-rock

“We really dig this track (The Hedonic Treadmill), you can definitely feel the emotion and the passion in every aspects, we love how it moves from Metal, to Metal Core so effortlessly, as well as being very melodic.” – The Metal Asylum

“Brutal and precise! Love the metal!” – Buzz Slayers

NATE SILVA (ex-The Slyde) Releases Debut Rock Album “The Chase” And Title Track Music Video

Canadian Tour Dates (ON, QC, NB, NS, PEI)

New Album “The Chase” Out May 3rd, 2024

Canadian singer-songwriter Nate Silva is now releasing his debut rock album “The Chase” in which he revisits some of his earlier musical inspirations including 1990s alternative post-grunge and dance rock vibes and acoustic, folky melodies. At the same time, he is releasing a video for the title track. He comments:

“Lyrically, it’s a very personal album. I went through a tough breakup before writing this – probably the hardest breakup in my life – so I was healing from that when writing the lyrics, and it shows. The act of writing these lyrics and putting them into songs was also part of the healing process for me – to get those feelings out and express it through song was therapeutic in itself.”

Reflecting on his transition to a solo career, he also mentions that this project emerged from a period of personal and creative evolution. After years of leading bands and freelancing with various artists, he felt compelled to embark on a new musical journey. Compared to his work in other bands, the writing process for “The Chase” was much more stripped down and each one of the tracks was a learning experience on the direction he wanted to take his music.

Combining rock anthems with introspective folk songs, “The Chase” is a varied introspective offering from Silva, that is approachable and easy to enjoy. He joins forces with drummer/vocalist Matt Babineau and bassist/vocalist Dan Joseph, to form a trio that delivers a unique and catchy listening experience. It is recommended for fans of Rush, Foo Fighters, and Green Day.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 3, 2024

SUNMANCER Unleashes Explosive Hardcore Single “Chasm Darkly” And Tour Dates w/ AUGUST BURNS RED

L-R: Ramon Rellum (Drums/Backing Vocals), Kyle Mazlik (Guitar), Justin Mazlik (Vocals), Dan Nelson (Bass), Jeremy Harlan (Guitar)

Metallic hardcore heavy hitters Sunmancer are poised to shake the foundations of the metalcore scene with their latest video single “Chasm Darkly”. Known for their relentless energy and unyielding heaviness, Sunmancer is also hitting the road with August Burns Red and Fuming Mouth in May (dates listed below) where listeners can catch the track live. The band comments on the song:

“Compared to our other songs, Chasm Darkly came together relatively quickly. This song was written in a span of a few hours, and only very minor tweaks were made after the demo was recorded. Everyone in the band really enjoys the vibe of the song, and it’s the first one that Ramon, our drummer, was able to sing on. The lyrical content is purposely left open to interpretation so that the listener can glean their own meaning. We are extremely proud of this song, and feel that it represents the musical direction we are moving in as a band.”

Lyrically, “Chasm Darkly” can be open to interpretation, but vocalist Justin Mazlik wrote it with his own struggles and anxiety in mind. Musically, Sunmancer wanted this track to have a wide range of feelings – going from heavy riffing with blast beats to epic choruses and calm bridges. They don’t revisit many of the riffs in the song, as to take the listener on more of a “journey” as opposed to just a verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure.

Formed by brothers Kyle and Justin Mazlik, Sunmancer rose from the ashes of Broadcast The Nightmare, carving out their own path in the metal landscape. Teaming up with Atlanta-based guitarist Jeremy Harlan of Faith In Ruin, the band’s lineup solidified with the addition of Dan Nelson on bass and Ramon Rellum on drums.

“Chasm Darkly” is intended to be more than just a song, it is an experience – from the intense blast beats to the serene interludes, every element of the track is carefully crafted to evoke emotion and resonate with the audience. It is recommended for fans of Killswitch Engage, Counterparts, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

“Sunmancer perform with ultra precise musicianship and technicality; these guys could easily be the front runners for your prog death metal needs.” – Prog-Sphere

“Something is always going 200 mph on this record. The attention to detail and execution of the guitar playing is phenomenal. The guitar tone itself is incredibly heavy and audible. Bass tone is low and thick and it accentuates the guitar playing even more. Giving the overall theme and vibe of the record a rich powerful sound.” – Prog-Sphere.com

“Eclipsing the influences, Sunmancer brings us unparalleled power with their debut. Nothing Ever Happens commits to both the energy and the metal that Sunmancer seeks to offer, stopping not for a single moment to let us breathe. It’s heavy, speedy, and yet deeply complex with perfectly timed breakdowns, breathless pauses, and stunning vocal movement that has even the weariest of Metalheads giving Metalcore a second look. If you’re after something hardcore, that doesn’t shy away from the heavy and the screamo-style, then Sunmancer’s EP Nothing Ever Happens is sure to scratch that curious itch.” – Valkyrjian

“Across six tracks and 20 minutes, SUNMANCER deliver metalcore as it should be, their metal and hardcore influences working in tandem to evoke KILLSWITCH ENGAGE or early TRIVIUM or AUGUST BURNS RED or MISERY SIGNALS.” – Distorted Sound Mag

EPK – Sunmancer – Chasm Darkly (single) (2024)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“We really hope people enjoy it! We’ve been getting positive feedback from our last EP. We are very proud of the song Chasm Darkly, and we think it shows progression and growth in our songwriting. Everyone in the band loves fast and heavy “in-your-face” music, and our songs will be reflective of that. We also really want people to get parts of our songs stuck in their head, whether through cool hooks in a chorus or catchy, memorable riffs. – Kyle Mazlik – Guitar – Sunmancer

About The Single Artwork

An old friend of ours, Aaron Marsh, provided the single cover art for Chasm Darkly. He has an extensive history of doing album art for metal and hardcore bands so we gave him full reign to create an artistic vision that he felt captured the essence of this particular song as well as the lyrical content. We were all happy with the aesthetic he brought with the cover artwork, which expresses more of an ambiance mood than actually explaining what the song means.

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

For this single – Chasm Darkly, the lyrics could be open to interpretation, but I wrote it thinking about my own struggles and anxiety with being present in my personal relationships. I’m not the best at being a great companion sometimes and I have these robot tendencies that seem to have always plagued my relationships. -Justin

Musically, we wanted this track to have a wide range of feeling – going from heavy riffing with blast beats to epic choruses and calm bridges. We don’t revisit many of the riffs in the song, as to take the listener on more of a “journey” as opposed to just a verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure. – Kyle
