For fans of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Kyuss, Sleep
“Friends, this EP has been a long time coming. As a lot of other bands experienced at the beginning of the pandemic, not being able to gather as a full band or find open studio space kind of made making music difficult. So we decided to do it mostly by ourselves, at a distance. With some help, we got it done. We’re stoked to finally present it for streaming everywhere. We hope it’s worth a listen or three.” – Elektric Mistress

“With an ominous as hell intro, the first track on this three-track EP is certainly the most expansive and progressive of the bunch. It dissolves quickly into trippy psych-rock that builds towards something that can certainly be called unique. The 70s vibe doesn’t just come from the riffs either, with the clean vocals having a real early rock years sound to them.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life (2019 – Elektric Mistress – EP)
“Elektric Mistress are a blooze bar band, but with all the pizzazz of seventies throwback rock… Musically, Elektric Mistress have a distinct voice with ambience and dripping cool, but coupled with a vocalist who transitions from a throaty rasp to southern twang to make this a fresh and engaging take on a legacy seventies sound.” – Power Play Rock & Metal Magazine (2019 – Elektric Mistress – EP)
“Make no mistake, Elektric Mistress are a heavy rock and roll band and they’ve got the ‘k’ in “electric” to prove it…” – The Obelisk (2019 – Elektric Mistress – EP)
“The first step can only be taken when the last toke has been drawn and ELEKTRIC MISTRESS is ready to unveil their single ‘Turn To Grey’ off their upcoming debut self-titled EP due out on July 19th. Channeling the energy of inspirations such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd the stoner rock quintet from Halifax, Canada is all about the groove. ELEKTRIC MISTRESS is face punching psychedelic rock firmly rooted in what has come before, and also looking ahead, their single ‘Turn To Grey’ is described as ‘smoke rings in a blizzard’. – Metal Bulletin Zine (2019 – Elektric Mistress – EP)
“Very classy stuff, and it is absolutely recommended!” – Melodic.net (2019 – Elektric Mistress – EP)

====================
The EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):
High energy psychedelic heartache with some witchcraft!
We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel or anything here; we’re just trying to write the best songs that we can. The EP is a banger straight through; there’s really no spacey stuff on this one, maybe except for the middle break in Radio. Lyrically I think we go by the motto WWBSD (What would Black Sabbath do?); The general heavy music concepts of madness, the occult, the dangers of substance abuse, lost love, etc. A lot of our lyrics we find mix these concepts with stuff about the experience of playing live on the stage and the music business in general.
Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):
1. Magic Dust:
Pure stoner rock. Also, a tasty organ solo in the middle. It’s about two people embarking on a romantic psychedelic trip together for the first time.
2. Radio:
A song about how music or a song brings back memories of past relationships. Our most Black Sabbath-type riff, for sure. Riley came up with the main riff on this one.
3. Cocaine Johnny:
It’s a fun and high energy song with some dark lyrics about addiction. Cocaine’s a hell of a drug! Purple worship, pure and simple. Just tuned a lot lower. This one was written by Maxwell pretty much entirely.
4. Chapter 99:
It’s a great time! It’s a party and everyone’s invited, even the dead! People have been trying to connect the dead since the beginning of time, via seances, spells, and Oujia boards. A stomper for sure. Hopefully, it gets people moving.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:
1. None of the songs on the Chapter 99 EP were recorded in a studio, because of the global pandemic and just not having the cash. This was our first crack at self-production. Also, the stringed instruments and keys are completely digital.
2. However, if you hear tape noise in the tracks, that’s because they were shoved through the CLASP system (Closed Loop Analog Signal Processing) at Fang Recordings. It basically shoots everything from Pro Tools to a Studer A80 2-inch tape machine, mixed down to stereo with a Studer A810 ¼ inch, and then back to Pro Tools for that old recording sound. Apparently, CLASP is a super-rare system, and it’s the only one that exists east of Montreal, so we were very lucky to be able to utilize it. Heh, we crushed the hell out of that tape.
3. Maritime Hard Rock and Metal Festival is always a good time. Especially when the go-karts are working. We’re pretty sure we spent most of our money into the wee hours of the morning on those. Gas-powered, too, so they rip pretty hard.

Channeling the energy of inspirations such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd, Halifax, Canada Elecktic Mistress is all about the groove with their face-punching psychedelic stoner rock firmly rooted in what has come before, but also pushing towards what is ahead. If you’re looking for a true retro psychedelic synth-rock experience with a progressive edge, Elektric Mistress is here to deliver! Take a deep breath and ride the wave through a hypnotic haze of electric highs and sedated tones to take you back in time and return again.
Comprised of guitarists Kyle Cantfell (Guitar) and Jason Cantfell, bassist Kieran Richardson, vocalist Maxwell Poole, keyboardist, Riley MacDonald and drummer Valencia Canales , Elektric Mistress began their journey through oblivion in 2018, making noise on the Canadian East coast scene, which included performing on the area’s largest event, the Maritime Metal and Hard Rock Festival during the same year of their conception.
The band released their first debut in 2019 with their self-titled EP showcasing their unique soundscape of stoner rock ignited with crunchy, groovy guitar riffs, bombastic drums, dirty keys, and choice bass licks plus loud and raspy vocals. Now in 2022, the band returns with their follow-up and sophomore EP “Chapter 99” for release in June 2022.
The band adds: “Friends, this EP has been a long time coming. We hope it’s worth a listen or three. We think we’ve been steady on the course as far as evolution goes for this next release. However, now that guitarist Jason Cantfell has joined the band, we’ve been doing a lot more guitar harmonies and stuff we couldn’t do before; the end part in Cocaine Johnny is a good example of that. Definitely expect more of that in the future.”
“Chapter 99” is due out on June 17, 2022 and will be available on all digital platforms.
