EPK – Fall of Stasis – The Chronophagist (2022)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“We wanted our first album to bring something fresh to the metal scene. Each song was carefully written and fine-tuned to maintain the listener’s attention. We wanted the album to showcase every member’s musical influences without compromising the quality of our music. The result is a relentless, fast and aggressive yet melodic and symphonic opus with a different vibe and story for every track. Overall, each song blends well into the next one, yet they’re different enough to keep the listener involved for the duration of the album.  We asked Christian Donaldson to record, mix and master our album since he’s easily one of the most respected and recognized metal producers in the province. Again, we didn’t want to cut corners and we made sure to partner with someone who would do justice to our music. Lyrically, the album showcases fictive storytelling from start to finish, although the lyrics often symbolize modern social issues along with some of the band members’ personal experiences.” – Fall of Stasis

“Musically the song (Baal Arise) is a brutal one that flies like a bat, discharging obliterating drum munitions, flurries of technically adept guitar work that generate sensations of jolting punishment, frenzied madness, and swirling exoticism. But it’s also overlaid with a symphonic layer that lends an air of menacing grandeur, as well as dancing keyboards that channel ebullience. The vocals combine voracious growls and vicious snarls — until they surprisingly change into singing in the song’s high-flying chorus.” – No Clean Singing

“There hasn’t been enough epic metal this week, so here’s the debut of Fall Of Stasis. There’s a lot going on with this band. You’re getting stuff that sounds like Abigail Williams, Cradle of Filth, Bleeding Through, and The Black Dahlia Murder. Then there is a light folk through-line as well. This band has just started, but I’m already excited for their future. ” – Metal Injection

“Drenched in a deluge of nuances, FALL OF STASIS are a truly genre-defying collective, ensuring the beating heart of this album is the band’s individualism and sincerity to their unique concepts and unflinching exploration of sound. “The Chronophagist” is enriched in an ingenious blend of diverse soundscapes, creating a captivating listen from beginning to end and a journey you wish could last a lifetime.” – Female Fronted Power

“The Chronophagist is a fascinating piece. One that will pull you forward with an unholy hunger for more.” – Rock Music Raider

“the first 10/10 of 2022 to these Canadian madmen and women for an album that is contemporary yet brings back memories of when Metal was at the height of its powers, and yet slays with as much ease as a tactical nuclear weapon.” – Ever Metal

“Overall, this album is unlike any other debut out there. It puts absolute chaos on the line and ensures each band member’s unique taste and abilities are available in full force. Take a listen and hear for yourself how this eccentric album puts forth one hell of a dynamic unmatched by any other.” – Metal Goddesses

“Fall Of Stasis complete a successful display of force on their debut, one which benefits massively from Christian Donaldson’s supportive production and mix. More of a name to be treasured by those attracted to innovation within the modern paradigm than those actually seeking outright novelty, The Chronophagist nonetheless ought to steal a fair bit of your time, as the title accurately promises.” – Metal Observer

“The moment I heard the first song I knew I was going to like this album as it sounded like something that you’d hear in the opening credits of a horror movie. After listening to the rest of this album I can easily say that this was one of the best albums that I’ve heard in a while – everything sounds so fresh and familiar and just super epic! Like the lyrics paint epic pictures of folk horror happenings and that was only helped by the neo-classical/folk-inspired melodies. Overall, it reminds me of the Scandinavian extreme metal albums of the late 90s coming from bands like Dimmu Borgir, and the early albums of Children of Bodom and Nightwish. I absolutely love this album and Fall of Stasis have most definitely gained themselves a new fan.” – Andrew Nasso – CFRU 93.3FM (Guelph, ON)

“Symphonic, brutal, unpredictable and loud they’ve made a melting pot of extremes only fitting for a Sith witch to stir creating bubbling brutality. So far they’ve played stages with The Agonist, Wolfheart and Beyond Creation among others.” – Covering The Scene

“The Chronophagist is restless and relentless, a bold and ambitious creative firestorm of an album that defies normal description, it will simultaneously freak you out and entertain with enthusiasm, it’s a rollercoaster high-speed assault with scant regard for weak-minded sensibilities. It may not settle for long but is an excellent gateway into their world of musical mayhem.” – Metal Roos

“With their frantic sound and otherworldly, playful yet dark ambiances, Fall Of Stasis is ready to drag you into a world where madness reigns.”

As-tu quelques minutes? Écoute ça!” – Ars Media QC

========================================

The album as a whole explained by the band:

Lyrically: The album showcases fictive storytelling from start to finish, although the lyrics often symbolize modern social issues along with some of the band members’ personal experiences.

Musically: This album is a melting pot of each band member’s musical tastes and influences, which makes for a pretty varied repertoire, ranging from smooth and melancholic ballads to aggressive and fast metal riffs.  This gives us somewhat of an “apocalyptic” sound, something that is also reflected in most of the lyrics.

Track by Track explained:

1. Wilted Forests: A very symphonic, instrumental song that sets the tone for what’s to come by showcasing some of the musical themes of the album.

2. Fall of Stasis: This eponymous track describes an apocalyptic flood transcending both space and time. Musically the song starts with an eerie piano section which evolves into death metal riffs, followed by a soaring chorus. The final section of the song brings back the main riff and features the guitar and the piano trading solos back and forth.

3. Drunken Howl: This song tells the story of a murderous captain and details some of the most well-known torture methods used by pirates throughout history. Heavily influenced by Alestorm, this pirate metal piece starts off with an upbeat accordion riff that sets the tone for a classic folk metal song. The track ends with a guitar solo and a modulation of the main riff.

4. Baal Arise: This piece describes a demon’s awakening and his wish to enslave humanity. This is a short, fast-paced, “in-your-face” type of song that starts off with a brutal death metal riff followed by an epic chorus.

5. The Cult: This is about a pagan cult that heavily indulges in psychoactive substances. The song starts with a syncopated section followed by a folky yet intense main riff solidified by fast and sustained blast beats.

6. Twilight Carnival: This song tells the story of a carnival where tormented people end up reliving their worst memories and regrets. The song features a circus-themed chorus blended into a succession of acoustic guitar parts and brutal guitar riffs.

7. Baron: This epic tale is heavily inspired by our hometown’s most infamous alcoholic who would willingly partake in crazy antics in exchange for beer. This song is fast, eclectic, and features back-to-back riffs structured in an unconventional fashion.

8. The Last Waltz: This piece tells the story of a sorceress who takes advantage of lustful wanderers. This is a classic power-ballad type of song with an acoustic intro and melodic riffing followed by a smooth middle section. The song ends with a melodic-trashy riff and a fade-out solo.

9. Swarm of Casualties: This one is about two armies stuck in a time loop, doomed to be at war with each other until the end of time. This song has a strong melodic death metal influence starting off with an organ intro followed by a melodic section that abruptly turns into a thrash metal riff. The chorus features a catchy vocal hook that gives a very punk-ish vibe.

10. The Chronophagist: This is the final song of the album and it tells the story of a deity who has the power to steal time from mortal beings. The song starts off with a slightly modified version of Wilted Forests’s intro, followed by a heavy riff and an epic, vocally-charged chorus. The last chorus is cut short by an eclectic and odd-timed trashy riff followed by a black metal section. The song ends with an epic riff and a fading soaring guitar solo.

Fall Of Stasis, based in Montreal, Canada, was originally formed in 2014 with the intention of creating original music that couldn’t be defined by a specific genre. They started off with a very eclectic and progressive style, and as time went on, it was toned down in favour of musical cohesion and they added symphonic arrangements.

In 2017, the band released their demo and will be following it up in 2022 with the full-length “The Chronophagist”, which maneuvers closer to black metal but with definitive prog-heavy stylings. Working together on everything, there isn’t a single song where the creative input from a band member has not been blended into the mix. Fall of Stasis firmly believes that creative collaboration is one of their main strengths.

The current lineup of Fall of Stasis consists of Jessica Dupré (vocals), Gabriel Bernier (lead guitar/backing vocals), Tristan Bergeron-Boucher (rhythm guitar), Mathieu Groulx (bass), Sergei Lecours (drums) and Mélissa Bissonnette (keyboard). Each of the musicians brings a wide array of influences which results in a distinct sound, which caters to folk, black, progressive and death metal fans alike, but also to the uninitiated, thanks to their original and catchy melodies.

Symphonic yet brutal and often unpredictable, they present a mix of very powerful growls and clean vocals, along with good stage presence, efficient crowd work and tight musicianship. They have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many notable local and international bands such as The Agonist, Wolfheart and Beyond Creation.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Our singer’s ex-girlfriend once came to one of our shows and she bought a demo along with 2 tickets for an upcoming show. In a fit of jealousy, her girlfriend set our demo and tickets on fire the following day.

 2. When the band was just starting out, we jammed in a small shed next to a chicken coop. Our gear was questionable, to say the least, and we had to use logs and rocks to keep the cymbal stands from falling mid-song. In the winter, the temperature could easily drop to -20 degrees celsius, so we had to start a fire in the woodstove and throw logs in every once in a while. Needless to say, this wasn’t great for our instruments.

 3. Our lead guitarist Gabriel and our drummer Sergei met on MSN about 15 years ago, and their friendship solidified when Sergei started regularly selling weed to Gabriel right in front of the house, which never failed to make his mother angry.

4. At some point we were jamming in a residential area and one of the neighbours made a noise complaint. When they arrived, we couldn’t hear them knocking because we were busy butchering Are you dead Yet? by Children of Bodom, so they entered the house and found an ounce of weed sitting on the table (it was still illegal at the time). Fortunately for us, his roommate saw them and handled the situation without further incident.

5. A few years ago, we were playing at the first edition of a small festival called Farmfest in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. The attendance was pretty scarce, but we still had a lot of fun. We were camping there and it was getting pretty cold outside as the night fell, so we crammed into the van of a festival-goer.  While we were having the time of our life, our bassist was busy conceiving his future daughter in the tent next to us.

Assaulting the masses with their debut EP “We All Will Die One Day” recently unleashed on November 5th, Halifax, Canada’s Bone Tower is sharing their latest music video for their track “Under A Veil”, which can be seen and heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“This song is pissed. There is more than one meaning, but it’s really written about the perception that you are always in the wrong, that who you are is a made-up persona, you aren’t good enough, and you should be exiled from everything positive in your life. This feeling couldn’t be further from the truth, and it is simply anxiety creeping in to say hello; A flurry of notes and blast beats being thrown at you really like to drive that idea deep into your head, though. Cower away under a veil of delusion.” adds the band.

Filthy grindcore from Atlantic Canada, Bone Tower formed earlier this year with a defined vision – to deliver an abusive and abrasive offering that would be the soundtrack for the madness that has ensued on a global level over the past year and a half during Covid times.

The trio of Jonas DeViller (vocals/electronics/lyrics), Sean Carroll (guitar/bass), and Michael Bowers (guitar/bass/vocals) are seasoned extreme musicians and were able to quickly write and produce their debut record in two weeks. Coming together very swiftly and organically, the band’s comments on the EP’s explosive earworm tendencies.

“Both sonically and lyrically, ‘We All Will Die One Day’ represents a collective status of disarray. Challenging speed and complex rhythms serve to accelerate unfavourable emotions to the forefront of your mind. A raw and unfiltered by-product of mental health in disarray and unfocused aggression, with no real direction on how to cope in a post-pandemic landscape. Basically, a big ‘f* you’ to the world we live in. While presented in an ugly package, these songs are a cathartic release with the intent of extinguishing deep feelings of depression and anger.”

With a ferocity influenced mostly by death metal, grindcore, and hardcore, Bone Tower is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Atka, and Trap Them.

“We All Will Die One Day” is available digitally and on cassette via No Funeral Records & Fresh Outbreak Records at the following links: Bonetower.bandcamp.com, Store.nofuneral.ca, Freshoutbreak.bandcamp.com, Spotify and Apple Music here.

About:
Bone Tower got its start early in 2021, with the sole purpose of channeling built-up negative energy and creating a hectic, pissed-off sounding record. Hailing from Atlantic Canada they got straight to the point through pummeling angry death metal.

Bone Tower is the musical equivalent of the chaos ensuing globally since last year. An angry jab back at the universe for anyone who was angry and watched the world unfold with racial upheaval, conservatives and conspiracists coming out of the woodwork against Covid, economic regression with millions losing jobs, the entire world changing beneath our feet, and for the politicians who claimed to be on our side but continue to fight against the truth.

The trio of Jonas DeViller (vocals/electronics/lyrics), Sean Carroll (guitar/bass), and Michael Bowers (guitar/bass/vocals) is a seasoned one at that and they were able to quickly write and produce their debut EP ‘We All Will Die One Day’ in two weeks. It came together as a whole very quickly and organically.

This is just the start for Bone Tower, they already have a follow-up record in the works. As of now, they are mostly a recording project but they intend on eventually playing shows. When they do finally play live, it’s bound to be just as fucked up as the recording.

EP ‘We All Will Die One Day’ is due out November 5, 2021.

Sun Below Is Now Streaming Their Sativa Soaked, Self-Titled Stoner Rock Epic

Full Stream Premiere via Doomed & Stoned

Self-Titled Album Out Nov 19th

For lovers of fuzz and all things stoner rock, Toronto’s Sun Below is releasing their self-titled concept album on November 19th, which is a culmination of the journey the band has taken since the release of their debut EP back in 2018.

Today, the trio has teamed up with Doomed & Stoned for the album’s exclusive full stream premiere HERE.

“Sun Below” is a fully formed concept around the central figure of the record, the Holy Drifter. The listener is transported through various points in time in not only the Drifter’s life but in the history of his mountain shrine atop the Chronwall, as he struggles to find the meaning in his erratic, herb-induced visions. The story of the album is not completely linear, so the listener will drift in and out of timelines and alternate realities while experiencing the crushing weight and groove of the music. The band shares their thoughts on the album:

“We are beyond Sativa stoked to be releasing our self-titled debut LP after months of rehearsing, recording, and self-producing. We feel this album represents all the elements that embody our style; crushing doom, infectious grooves, big riffs, driving bass, earth-shattering drums, and experimental vocals. The album balances long burning, crushing doom with raw, up-tempo heavy rock and exploratory instrumental jams to present a vast sonic landscape.”

The album is a journey through time, space, and the limits of sonic power. Musically, it combines fuzzed-out grooves, punishing volume, and moments of spaced-out clarity which make for a fully immersive journey. With a run time of well over an hour, the album is meant to transport the listener across worlds and time, while traversing a vast landscape of heavy sounds.

The band was formed in 2017 out of a collective desire to follow the riff, jam, and explore vast sonic landscapes. They have previously released three EPs: Black Volume EP (2018), Black Volume II EP (2019), and Black Volume III EP (2019).

Fans of big riffs, fuzzed-out guitars, crushing drums, and driving bass will not be disappointed in this record. Those with an interest in Electric Wizard, Red Fang, and Kyuss should prepare to tune down, smoke up, play loud, and burn out.

The album will be available on November 19, 2021.

Album pre-order at Sunbelow.bandcamp.com.

About:
Sun Below is a heavy stoner/doom power trio from Toronto. Playing a signature brand of self-described Sativa rock, a combination of fuzz, volume, and heavy grooves, Sun Below seeks to spread their infectious, rollicking sound to the masses.

Starting as a humble seedling in 2018, the trio formed with a desire to create heavy rock with stoner/doom elements in a groovy Sabbath style, and through constant improvisation, the material is grown organically first with the music and then with the lyrics.

Engaging, extended tracks compiled with a crushing amount of volume touch on topics including cannabis, the occult, Lovecraft, unexplained occurrences, the infiniteness of space and the Holy Drifter. Even at length, each track is an exceptional sonic journey through space and time. Inviting their listeners to get into the groove and the headspace of the music, Sun Below is the perfect combination of a mellow trip with an energetic Sativa boost.

The trio of Jason Craig (guitars/vocals), Garrison Thordarson (bass/backing vocals) and Will Adams (drums/backing vocals) specialize in loose, long burning jams that worship at the altar of tone, riffs, and smoke, but also brim with raw bombastic heavy metal rock to keep the energy up high. Smoke up, tune down, play loud, burnout.

Still relatively new, but reaching towards the light and maturation, Sun Below have been hard at work sharing the stage with the likes of Black Mastiff and Chron Goblin; releasing three EPs: Black Volume EP (2018); Black Volume EP II (2019); Black Volume EP III (2019) and a music video into the haze. With a new stoner sun set to rise in 2021, the power trio will release their first full-length debut on November 19th to keep the fuzzy momentum going.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 17, 2021

STRIKER Unveil New Music Video “Deathwish”

If ya haven’t heard yet, Canadian heavy metal powerhouse STRIKER is back from the grave!

Last month with rumours spreading of the band calling it quits after they posted an image that was titled “RIP Striker 2007-2021” on their social media, fans began speculating on their future. In the end, it was all made to prepare them for Striker‘s new single “Deathwish”, a track that has their signature sound of putting a modern twist on classic heavy metal mixed with 1980s AOR.

The single is also the band’s introductory track with new drummer Jonathan Webster and bassist Pete Klassen who joined the lineup in 2019 along with it being their first of many new recordings to come since releasing their Juno award-winning album 2018’s “Play To Win”.

Today, Striker unveils their music video for “Deathwish”, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/98V8CchlEVM

“The world’s already on fire, you might as well light a smoke on it and kick back and watch. While you’re at it, feast your eyes on our new music video for Deathwish.” adds the band.

“Deathwish” can be streamed and downloaded on Spotify and Apple Music.

In additional news, Striker will be performing their first and only hometown show of 2021 in Edmonton, AB on November 27th at The Starlite Room with support from Riot City, Tymo and Tower Hill. Event Details can be found here.

Upcoming Show Dates:
Nov 27 – The Starlite Room – Edmonton, AB
April 17 – Rickshaw Theatre – Vancouver, BC (Hyperspace Metal Festival)

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Striker have been making shredtacular anthems since 2007. The band has toured multiple times across Europe and North America along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany), and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. The band has been honoured with multiple Best Album awards in their home country of Canada from the JUNO Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards, and the Edmonton Music Awards. Since their inception, Striker has released six studio albums Eyes in the Night (2010, Iron Kodex), Armed to The Teeth (2012, Napalm), City of Gold (2014, Napalm), Stand in the Fire (2016, Record Breaking), Striker (2017, Record Breaking), and Play to Win (2018, Record Breaking).

Rockshots Records – Out Now! Heavy Metal Opera Signum Draconis “The Divine Comedy: Inferno”

New Lyric Video “Firestorm”

Out now via Rockshots Records, Signum Draconis‘ unleashed the heavy metal opera of Inferno, from The Divine Comedy written by Dante Alighieri.

Featuring 17 songs by the band all sung in English, the double CD album is the first in a triptych of the complete work of Dante’s magnum opus with Purgatory and Paradise to follow, and also feature duets with selected special guest vocalists, narrations of selected chants, and an orchestral accompaniment by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra and Choir.

For the full-length’s third single and first CD’s closing track “Firestorm”, Signum Draconis is sharing their new lyric video and explain the song in further detail:

“It is the theme that closes the first cd and includes three chants of the Inferno (XIV – XV – XVI), it is also the last theme with the guitar in the tuning of Eb and one of my favorites of the entire album since its composition was fast, funny and direct, practically every part of the song seemed to be running in the composition works as by inertia.

It’s a song with a very classic Power Metal style and sound, where another of our guest stars Mr. Andrea Ranfa appears playing the role of ‘Brunetto Latini’.”

Signum Draconis takes their name from the medieval knights’ Order of the Dragon, and has opted for a classic 80s-influenced metal sound in homage to the rock and metal icons that inspired them to be musicians, and aim to produce a truly musical, timeless and epic recording that will absorb and reward from repeated and dedicated listening.

Guitarist and composer Oscar Grace reflects on the history of the project:

“The story of Signum Draconis can be said to begin in 2010, after two years crossing what felt like a personal hell, I was sitting in my car gazing at the sky when a message came to me as it were, a vision clear as day: ‘Put The Divine Comedy to music!’ At that moment Signum Draconis was born. I returned home immediately and hunted out an old copy of Dante’s masterpiece I had owned for years and began furiously reading. Two full years of study and research followed, reading and re-reading all three books many times and even traveling to Florence to visit the 13th Century poet’s own house, trying to envisage what it would have been like to be him and the world in which he lived his story.”

It took two years to extract the parts that would form the material for the songs, and a further year working with my good friend Frederick Pollock to compose the lyrics, bringing to each song its own meaning whilst maintaining the thread that binds all the songs together, at all times remaining faithful to the source and paying the utmost respect to the poet Dante with regards to the correct register with perfect meter and rhyme in English.

I believe Dante’s Inferno perfectly suits the musical style of Heavy Metal, but given the epic scale and cultural importance of Dante’s books, I wanted to bring something else to the music, something that lent grandeur and elegance, and to that end, I began to write parts for a symphony orchestra, in an old-fashioned way, with a fountain pen and sheet music and no new technology to guide my hand.”

Overall, this project took four years to compose the music for the band as well as the orchestra and along the way Oscar Grace searched for the companions who would join him on this voyage of grand musical ambitions. The first was Francesco Micieli, the drummer with whom he had already worked on other projects, then Max Morelli to be the voice of the band, and later on, after an arduous search, Oscar Grace found Filippo Martignano for keyboards and Stefano Antonelli on bass.

Once all the compositions were finished the band set about recording in the Domination Studio of San Marino, taking advantage of the experience and professionalism of Simone Mularoni as a sound technician. For the recording of the orchestral parts, Signum Draconis chose to work with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, having spoken with the director, David Hernando Rico, who helped them enormously and who showed such enthusiasm for the music and the project overall.

Embracing thrash, groove, and metalcore, Ottawa, Canada’s Sinful Ways return in 2021 to unleash their sophomore EP “Darkest Days” on December 10th. The EP follows their debut 2019 EP “To Hell Tonight”, and 2020 stand-alone singles “Burst into Flames” plus “No Escape”.

A solid blend of melodic and thrashy elements, on this new recording, Sinful Ways creates a mix that sits beautifully between the two. Lyrically, you will read the anger they share towards faulty governments and the treatment of people in other areas of the world.

“Over the pandemic, we all really worked at our instruments and really wanted to push ourselves into a more mature yet still energetic and raw sound, which we think we captured on this EP. From front to back, this EP holds a lot of musical value.” adds the band.

In preview to its release, the band is sharing their music video for the EP’s lead single “Bury the Hatchet”, a fast, heavy track where the clean vocals shine. It has a very catchy chorus that fans can sing along to and are sure to enjoy plus a breakdown that’s aggressive and assaulting along with leads that are technical to join the talented drumming, and larger-than-life screaming.

The band adds:

“Bury the Hatchet was the first song we finished for this EP, and we knew right away it was going to be the single. It blends everything we want to showcase in one song. During the time of writing, we were all very intrigued and angered by all the hatred and stuff going on in the world. This was our song to say we need to stand together, not to give up or give in, if you have something worth fighting for. You must fight for it. During the time of writing, we also switched guitar members and Frank Lahache joined us. This added the insane shredding solo section you can find and the great high scream at the end of the song!”

Filmed by Jessy Dwyer at Beyond The Pit, the music video can be viewed via its premiere on SpaceUntravel’s YouTube channel – https://youtu.be/N8gn9jR47y8

Chicago’s BURNED IN EFFIGY announces they will be unleashing their new album “Rex Mortem” on January 28, 2022 to follow their debut EP “Terrestrial”. Unlike their debut recording, which was all instrumental, this first full-length from the band will see not only new guitarists Mike Hisson and Steve Bacakos on the lineup, but also witness vocalist Mark “Smedy” Smedbron (Vocals) unleash his earworm fury unto the masses. The three new members join co-founding members Eddie Dec (drums), Matt Watkins (bass)

Fans can expect diverse high energy on “Rex Mortem”. The album takes elements from multiple subgenres within metal, mainly melodic death and progressive metal while infusing neoclassical elements into each track. No two tracks sound the same. The quintet skillfully and tastefully changes keys and time signatures throughout, so the feel of the music is constantly shifting, but also smoothly flowing between each section.

“We are psyched to present our debut album, Rex Mortem, a catalog of the first chapter of the band. This has been in the works for a long time and we couldn’t be more pleased with how it has turned out. The songs vary in complexity and intensity and demonstrate our growth as a band since its inception. Listeners will hear influences such as The Black Dahlia Murder and The Human Abstract, combining our love for death metal and progressive/neo-classical metal. The vocals are gritty and tense and the lyrics emphasize this with dark tales inspired by mythology, history, and classic literature. Many of the songs follow the story of a tyrannical king aiming to expand his power and influence, who ends up being brought down by his closest allies. We believe our album has something for all metal fans, regardless of preferred subgenre.” adds the band.

In lead up to the release of “Rex Mortem”, Burned In Effigy is unveiling their lead single “Nightfall”, a track that incorporates multiple clean sections to outline the main musical themes that then appear in the riffs, including fast-paced tremolo picking sections with blast beats. Bassist Matt Watkins explains further:

“Nightfall is a song we’ve been playing since the inception of the band and we felt it needed to be re-recorded for this album with vocals. Though we’ve progressed our songwriting and technicality since writing it and first recording it in 2017, this song has been a cornerstone of our sound. We experimented with multiple different styles with some songs that were written after Nightfall, but kept coming back to that neo-classical, dark sound. The lyrical themes of Dracula along with Smedy’s vocals fit right in with the mood of the song and inspired us to do a lyric video incorporating scenes from Nosferatu.”

About:
Burned in Effigy is a neoclassical melodic death metal band from Chicago, IL. Formed in late 2016 by founding members Brad Dose (guitar), Vito Belino (guitar), Eddie Dec (drums), and Matt Watkins (bass). Starting as an instrumental melodic metal band, the four were brought together by their love of complex, melodic, and heavy music and sought to bring more of that to the Chicago extreme music scene.

Burned in Effigy released their debut EP, Terrestrial, in April 2017. The band focused on playing shows after and building an audience through top-notch live performances while opening for prominent bands such as Scale the Summit, Angel Vivaldi, Oh, Sleeper, and Mushroomhead. While supporting this EP, Burned in Effigy worked with a couple of different vocalists and eventually recruited vocalist Mark “Smedy” Smedbron in December 2019 while in the early demo stages for their first full length.

Instrumental recordings for the band’s masterpiece, Rex Mortem, were finished in early 2020. Shortly after, the band parted ways with guitarist Brad Dose. Vocal recording, mixing, and mastering was finished in mid 2021, after which guitarist Vito Bellino left in order to focus on music school. Shortly after, the remaining three members Eddie Dec (drums), Matt Watkins (bass), and Mark “Smedy” Smedbron (vocals) rallied and recruited guitarists Mike Hisson and Steve Bacakos, who naturally fit with and complemented the band’s signature sound.

0 VARIUS’ Presents Reflective Stories Of Battle Through New Video “Golden Crown”; Video Premiere via TheCirclePit; New EP “Concordance” Out Now!

New EP “Concordance” Out Now!

Varius has recently released their heaviest record to date and one they describe as their most diverse and collaborative. Each of the four songs was written by a different band member allowing individual influences and styles to shine through. This method of writing allowed each person to play producer for their own track, bringing in ideas from the rest of the band to really bring their visions to life. “Golden Crown” is the first track on the EP and the longest, it touches on themes of battle, loyalty, and brotherhood. Varius explains further:

“This song represents something completely different as far as what our audience would expect of us. It is the EP’s most straightforward track and is a mid-tempo wall of sound. It has a more classic-metal kind of sound, but with almost Amon Amarth-style vocals. The calmer intro gives way to a massive chord-based riff, and the song progresses into an epic guitar solo and dynamic build through the outro. Lyrically, the song touches on themes of battle, loyalty, and brotherhood. The lyrics were influenced by the concept of ancient warriors who lived and died by the sword and battled for their brothers in arms rather than glory and wealth.”

Although fans will likely notice the prominent thrash and death metal elements that are the core of Varius’ sound, they want to emphasize that their influences are a lot more diverse than just those styles. Throughout the EP they play around with many styles as well as lyrical themes like fantasy, science fiction, and horror while reflecting real-life issues through them.

The progressive and melodic death metal that Varius creates is suggested for fans of Children of Bodom, Dethklok and Death.

“it’s full of dynamic surprises — a song that’s bombastic and brazen, savage and scintillating, mysterious and magnificent — and its name is “Concordance of the Legionfall“.” – No Clean Singing

“For their second EP Concordance, Varius decided to let each band member bring their own song in. This move lets the band step away from the rigid melodic death metal of their first EP, The Great Tribulation, and try out other genre types. Opener “Golden Crown” keeps its deathly roots in the ruinous vocals, as the song is otherwise traditional heavy metal that wouldn’t have been out of place for Manowar or Accept. Each of the four tunes on Concordance avoid hinting at any ideas of what Varius will do next, like the forceful doom in the second half of closer “Gut Shoveler.” Hearing their two EPs back-to-back is listening to a band actively transforming themselves over the course of 40 minutes. With Concordance, Varius have made a point to keep their sonic options open moving forward, as they could go anywhere from here. 4/5” – Heavy Music Headquarters

0 Rockshots Records – Latvian Rock n’ Rollers QUICKSTRIKE New Music Video “None of a Kind”; Debut Album “None of a Kind” Out February 11, 2022

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 15, 2021

Rockshots Records – Latvian Rock n’ Rollers QUICKSTRIKE New Music Video “None of a Kind”

Debut Album “None of a Kind” Out February 11, 2022

Latvian classic rockers QUICKSTRIKE will be releasing their debut album “None of a Kind” via Rockshots Records this coming February 2022. The full-length, clocking at over 40 minutes will feature 10 songs along with a bonus track exclusively on CD.

A no-nonsense experience of raw guitars, sweet tones, genuine vocals, and sweet emotions, each Quickstrike song is an event of its own and it’s all real to reel. Offering an all-around chamber of good ol’ classic rock n’ roll, the band delivers an authentic “what-you-get-on-the-record-is-what-you-get-live” experience. Take it or leave it, no refunds, as you will not want any – guaranteed. They are an encounter that will leave you dazed, amazed, crazed, and definitely craving for more. From beautiful harmonies to flamin’ high-octane performances (literally). This is a package that has been missing since the likes of Aerosmith and Guns n’ Roses. This is a band you can’t afford to miss.

Today, Quickstrike is sharing their new music video for the album’s title track and lead single.

“The lyrics were written overnight, and as soon as they were done, we knew we had our title track. This song represents the overall mojo of the band and what we’re all about. The video was shot in an old USSR airport in Riga.“ adds the band.

Watch “None of a Kind” at https://youtu.be/OjkFgl0View

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3wMOm0p

Digital – https://bfan.link/none-of-a-kind-single

Establishing their permanent lineup in 2017, the quintet has been performing attested, high-quality rock n’ roll all over Europe as an unstoppable freight train gig after gig. Their momentum has even landed them a performance at the Baltic region’s largest motorcycle festival “Kurland Bike Meet” in 2018.

With the emergence of such bands as Greta Van Fleet, the sudden popularity of the Queen biopic, and the Guns n’ Roses reunion, they all point to one thing, good ol’ rock n’ roll is slowly preparing for its long-awaited return to the spotlight. Quickstrike‘s sound is reminiscent of those aforementioned bands and so much more as they prepare to share with the world their first full length that’s been three years in the making.

“While pre-production was started in 2018, the actual tracks were laid down and mixed at Hodila Records in 2019. The mastering process took place at White Wide Productions in 2021. This debut is a pandora’s box with a vintage feel, topped off with a mix of the band’s attitude and raw energy. We’re bringing the old school into the new decade – sonic satisfaction guaranteed. But don’t just take our word for it, experience “None of a Kind” for yourself.” adds the band.

Album lyrics were mainly written by vocalist “Piggy” and rhythm guitarist “Ritchskies”. While drummer “Fourleaf Graves” very often adds a melody in his head for a song. Instrumentally, Quickstrike‘s songs have a pattern of “Ritchskies” constantly giving birth to riff after riff at each band practice or sometimes making them up on the go, he’s been dubbed “the riff machine”, and the band just builds from there.

“None of a Kind” will be out on February 11, 2022 and available for physical pre-order and digital pre-save at the following links:
