0 Album review: Messora – The Door – Diary of a Music Addict “If you are a progressive music fan or a fan of metal in general, you need to give ‘The Door’ a chance. It’s challenging, haunting and complex. I don’t have a single complaint about the album and it’s very hard to believe that this is their first LP. Bands normally chase this perfection for years before achieving it. If they continue on this path there is nothing stopping Messora from joining the greats.”

MORGAN RIDER (Vesperia) & THE DEEP DARK RIVER Share Acoustic Video ‘The Immeasurable Fathoms’

New Album “Leviathan and The Deep Dark Blue” Out November 22nd

L-R: Morgan Rider [Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Percussion], Nathen Morrison [Cello]

Canada’s Morgan Rider & The Deep Dark River will be releasing their new album and the second installment in The Deep Dark River quadrilogy saga – “Leviathan and The Deep Dark Blue”.

The first chapter “King of The Forest” (North Soul Records) this past June and now “Leviathan and The Deep Dark Blue” (North Soul Records) is ready to be experienced by listeners this coming November 22nd. The band is ready to share their next track in support of the release with an acoustic video of Morgan Rider performing ‘The Immeasurable Fathoms’, which can be viewed HERE.

Rider adds:

“I’m very happy to finally release a solo live version of some of the music from our new album ‘Leviathan and The Deep Dark Blue’. This is how I wrote and developed all the music for the album, so it’s cool to show it off in this stripped-down version, without all the heavy guitars, bass and drums.”

Morgan Rider and The Deep Dark River combine all the humble qualities of blues, folk and classical into a well-balanced, artfully crafted musical reflection on life, hope and old-fashioned storytelling while delivering a uniquely fresh and uplifting listening experience.

About:

Born in 1989, singer, songsmith and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Rider had his earliest imaginings of life as a musician while contending with an often tumultuous childhood. Overhearing his mother – who is a trained operatic soprano – his love and understanding of music blossomed at an early age. Morgan eventually spending his adolescent and early adult years performing in touring metal bands – appearing on tours and large festivals across North America and Europe.

During the summer of 2017, Morgan’s adoration of folk, classical and blues music finally culminated into a project and the beginnings of a collection of songs. The name Deep Dark River had been stuck in his head for years, as a byproduct of his writings and alluding to the very nature of his ideas as a musician and artist. As such, Deep Dark River became the name by which he would perform beneath.

While his ideas began to take form, so did his mindset for what became the early stages of Deep Dark River. In March of 2018, the first original Deep Dark River single ‘The Golden Bough’ was released digitally worldwide. Morgan began performing live and also toured solo to the Canadian east coast to promote the single. In the summer of 2018, the debut album Deep Dark River was released and supported with a full Canadian solo tour over 5 weeks.

As 2018 neared its end, Morgan called upon his friend Nathen Morrison to contribute cello to the sounds of Deep Dark River, solidifying the project as a duo. The pair immediately began rehearsing and recording the first of a four-album quadrilogy – which Morgan had written the bulk of on his travels. The first single featuring the pair – Starfire – was released in March of 2019 along with the album “King of The Forest” released on June 21st, 2019 via North Soul Records. Not slowing down, the pair have their next album just months later “The Deep Dark Blue” planned for release via North Soul Records on November 22nd, 2019 with its lead single ‘The Seafaerers’.

TALES OF THE TOMB Posts New Video ‘Dyatlov Pass Incident’

New EP “Volume Two: Mendacium” Out Now!

Painting their canvas of extreme music with inspirations of real-life stories of murder, conspiracy, supernatural horror, and terror, Edmonton’s Tales of The Tomb unleashed their new EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” this past September. In support of the release, the band is sharing their latest video for their track ‘Dyatlov Pass Incident’.

The band explains the story behind the song:

“9 hikers disappeared in what is now called the Dyatlov Pass in Russia. This incident had inspired many different conspiracies trying to explain what happened to the 9 hikers that went missing and were later found dead in the mountain range. Because there was a random unidentified scrap of clothing that looked to come from a military uniform found at the sight of the event. We are taking the angle put forth that the hikers unknowingly stumbled across a military weapons test and met their demise. Basically, they were there at the wrong place at the wrong time and the government was forced to cover up their deaths that the weapons test caused. There was evidence of the hikers ripping the tent from the inside and one of the hikers was found with extensive radiation burns, unclothed, fingernails and hands ripped apart from what was later determined to be from trying to climb the surrounding trees and much more. The song is written push-pull between the chaos of stumbling into this extension event vs. a seemingly normal journey. This was the last song written and displays the direction we are trying to move into from our past EP.”

Check out the video HERE.

A sonic attack layered with grinding blast beats, injected with menacing guttural lows, “Volume Two: Mendicium” is straight from hell with gore-filled lyrics leaving little to the imagination, destroying your eardrums like a corpse erased in an acid-filled bath. The EP was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist and head engineer/owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson. The EP also contains a bonus track about the Japanese horror film Mermaid in a Manhole. Featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks.

“Volume Two: Mendicium” is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:

Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death and murder metal, Tales of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music.  Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (guitar, vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.

Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales of The Tomb.

“RIYL: Serial killers and death metal. Now, many of you may think the two already go hand in hand, but new dimensions of depravity are opened when you take the murderous criminals Macabre and Church of Misery have been glorifying forever and backdrop it with noise more akin to Cannibal Corpse Fist-****ing At The Gates. Or Vice Versa.” – Decibel Magazine

“It’s got a European death metal feel to it, and while it’s definitely heavy, it’s centerpiece is a melodic guitar solo. If the rest of the EP, out on November 27th, is anything like the first taste of it, signals Tales of the Tomb as a band we’ll be hearing more – Metal Insider

“Grooves entwine and work their way under the skin like toxic vines, whilst the body of the song strolls with a deceitful calm as much hued in more classic metal essences as it is in death metal voracity.” – RingMaster Review

“Volume One: Morpras stands as a melodic treat fans of cold sounding death metal, melodic or otherwise, will definitely get a kick out of.” – Apochs Metal Review

Vicariously Enjoy THE BLOODY HELL’s “Out Of Our Minds” NSFW Video – A Punk Rock Horror Story

L – R : James Densley Lead Guitar – Kyle Cantfell Drums – Sean Carver Bass – Ian Kean Vocals / Guitar

“What if all those hooks, melodies and chord structures you love about classic rock were covered in distortion; the lyrics screamed bloody murder and the songs were played at punk rock speed? A satanic sonic assault on the ears, comprised of concepts covering heartache, substance abuse, death and the occult, drenched in feedback and overflowing with blazing guitar solos.”

That is how The Bloody Hell describes their music and with the release of their video from ‘Out Of Our Minds’ that crazy debauchery takes on a visual form. The highly creative and slightly NSFW video depicts the archetypal punk rock lifestyle lived out through plastic dolls and is accompanied by the rockin’ punk tune.

The single ‘Out Of Our Minds’ comes from the 2018 self-titled album, which exemplifies the band’s goal to create a fun and interesting listening experience for their fans that is full of twists and turns, highs and lows. They explain what one can expect at a live gig:

“We try to incorporate the themes into our live set as well, and always have surprises for the audience like props, guests on stage, lighting or video setups. Also, we focus a lot on melody and always have a lyrical hook so there is ample opportunity for the audience to sing along which I think is not very typical of satanic three-chord punk bands”

Formed in 2017, The Bloody Hell have gotten dirtier and more polished at the same time, with the band having got much better at writing hooks and concepts, while the guitars got louder and the vocals got uglier.

Suitable for a variety of fans, The Bloody Hell cites influences ranging from Misfits, Nirvana and Motorhead, anyone who enjoys a fun and dirty romp through catchy hooks and grungy vocals.

Watch the video on YouTube.

The Bloody Hell‘s debut self-titled album is available on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify.

About:

The Bloody Hell is what would happen If George Thorogood sang for the Misfits but all the songs were written by Tom Petty. Super catchy horror rock songs about drinking and heartache played at punk rock speed.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 5, 2019

For fans of Joe Satriani, Rush, Yngwie J Malmsteen, Steve Vai

Soar Away With Powerful Solos With ‘F-22 Raptor’ From PYRAMIDS ON MARS

Guitarist Kevin Estrella’s project Pyramids On Mars has a new album being released on December 21, 2019, entitled “Edge of the Black”. Offering an aural palette of intense instrumental rock, it’s emotional, provocative and 4-dimensional

The first single from this album is ‘F-22 Raptor’, the song soars like the jet itself, with intricate riffs set alongside aggressive chugging and the visuals are of the USAF stealth tactical fighter the song is named after.

Following up on the two previous albums from Pyramids On Mars, “Edge of the Black” was written, composed and performed solely by Keven Estrella who cites influences from musical greats including J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi with today’s guitar virtuosos Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani. Edge of Black pays homage to these artists while still maintaining Estrella’s own creative flair. Estrella shares his thoughts on the album:

“On Edge of The Black, I wanted to put emphasis on songwriting and telling a story. The emphasis is not just on the lead guitar melody, but on the band as a whole. Harmonic variations on repeating themes are strongly utilized; like rhyming phrases in spoken language that allows easier accurate retelling of the original story. This idea of repeating music phrases/themes so the audience can easily recall it and hum it all the way home.”

Full of determination and talent, Estrella compares his music to that of Satriani and Rush. In his own words:

“I honestly think ‘Edge of the Black’ will do for this decade what Joe Satriani’s ‘Surfing With The Alien’ did for instrumental rock back in the ’80s.  It captures the same passion, energy, and melodic hooks, yet it has an updated sound. It is no secret I am heavily influenced by the band Rush. They are a part of my circuitry.”

Listen to ‘F-22 Raptor’ via its premiere on Prog-Sphere HERE.

“Edge of The Black” pre-order available on Bandcamp.

Track Listing:
1. Blood Moon 5:42
2. Nacht Waffen 6:56
3. Song of Light 5:44
4. F-22 Raptor 5:53

6. Mercury Magnetar 4:58
7. Arcturian Rain 4:38

About:

Every once in awhile there comes along a band that is so different or unique, you would think they were dropped on Earth from another planet.  Pyramids on Mars is one of those bands. What first catches you, is that they are an instrumental band. A combination of elements such as hard rock, industrial, metal and psychedelic rock: and then the lead guitar comes soaring in.  Well crafted, beautiful, melodic phrases so catchy and memorable they will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Pyramids on Mars is the solo project of guitarist Kevin Estrella.  He wanted to do something musically different that would stand out from the crowd. Estrella’s musical style is very similar to world-renowned rock guitarist Joe Satriani, so much so that Estrella has nicknamed himself the “Satriani of the North.”

“Of course Satriani has had a huge influence on me,” he says “But he (Satriani) does more of a bluesy thing whereas I am more influenced by classical music.  I absolutely love the Baroque classical composers J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi who are my biggest musical influences.

Estrella recorded, produced, engineered and mastered his debut album, self-titled “Pyramids on Mars” in 2013.  Since then, he has been capturing music industry attention-getting international radio airplay in the U.S, Canada, South America, and Europe.  He is a regular guest on Brian ‘the hammer’ Jackson radio (Los Angeles) to over 4 million listeners and a weekly speaker on Real Rock Radio (Chicago).
