PSYCHOSTICK’s New Music Video ‘Rent In Peace’ ft. James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd) Pays Homage To The Days Of Blockbuster

The days of worrying about late fees and the newest release being unavailable are over, but for some, the death of childhood favorite movie destination Blockbuster, it’s still a tragic realization. For those people – and everyone else, PSYCHOSTICK have released a music video to compliment their 2018 track ‘Rent In Peace’, an ode to days past.
‘Rent In Peace’, one of the band’s most heartfelt songs, comes from the latest album “DO” and features a cameo from James Rolfe (The Angry Video Game Nerd/Cinemassacre) and if filmed on the set of Rolfe’s “Rental Reviews”. PSYCHOSTICK comments on the cameo:
“People are probably wondering how James Rolfe ended up in one of our music videos. First of all, that video shoot was a hell of a lot of fun, James is a super chill, smart dude with a great sense of humor and good taste in beer. Speaking of beer, that’s where it all started… with the promise of a single beer back in 2010. It wasn’t until nine years later when I was finally able to deliver on the promised beer and a plan for the video was set.”
Rolfe adds: “I’m really happy about the crossover. It was lots of fun!”
For those who like comedic music ala Dethklok, Bloodhound Gang, Tenacious D, and Weird Al, PSYCHOSTICK is sure to be a hit.
The video for “Rent in Peace” can be viewed with buttery popcorn here.
“DO” is the latest full length from PSYCHOSTICK and was released during July 2018 as a surprise album that was four years in the making to follow their extremely fan loved “IV: Revenge of The Vengeance” to continue the band’s genius of blending comedy, metal, heavy rock and the occasional spoof cover.
“DO” debut #1 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart along with ranking at #14 for Hard Rock Album, #39 for Rock Album, #39 for Independent Albums and #9 for Heatseekers Albums for the week of August 11th, 2018.
Album CD order, digital download, and streaming available on Psychostick Online Store, Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, and all other major online retailers.

0 NECRONOMICON Release New Song “Paradise Lost” via Exclaim! New Album ‘UNUS’ Out October 18, 2019 via Season of Mist

(contact info below)
NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – August 22, 2019
For fans of Blackened Death Metal, Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Abbath, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir
NECRONOMICON Release New Song “Paradise Lost” via Exclaim!
New Album ‘UNUS’ Out October 18, 2019 via Season of Mist
![]()
Canadian blackened death horde NECRONOMICON have partnered with Exclaim! to premiere “Paradise Lost”, the first single from their upcoming record, ‘UNUS’. You can listen to the song here.
NECRONOMICON vocalist/guitarist Rob the Witch comments about the song’s concept, “‘It’s not what we gain in this life, but what we have lost as living beings that lost their way in conforming against our true nature to fit in a world that in reality is just an illusion.”
‘UNUS’ is due on October 18 via Season of Mist and can be pre-ordered here.
In addition to the song premiere, NECRONOMICON was just awarded a special Canadian certificate of honor for having a successful career of 31 years via H.S. Productions, Tommy Tremblay, and the people of the band’s hometown in Saguenay Lac St. Jean, QC. The only other band to ever receive this honor is VOIVOD, making it all that more special.

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with ‘UNUS’, the crushing and cinematic follow up to 2016’s ‘Advent of the Human God.’ With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; ‘UNUS’ is no exception to this.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac-St-Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.
‘UNUS’ is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambiance, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

SCIMITAR Streaming New Album In Full ‘Shadows of Man’ via Metal-Rules

Canada’s SCIMITAR have been relatively quiet the past couple years as they toil away on their latest album. ‘Shadows of Man’ is now ready to be revealed to the world with its exclusive stream on Metal-Rules.com at the following link here.
The harmonious blend of melodic death, black and folk metal is relentlessly bombastic and SCIMITAR are very excited to share this new chapter of their musical history with fans. Thematically it is quite a departure from the previous maritime-influenced debut album, ‘Black Waters’, and SCIMITAR believes their fans will enjoy the variation in atmosphere. They share what they want to accomplish:
“The main experience we are trying to convey is a feeling of grandiose originality. The single Knights Collapse, in particular, is quite an original blend of genres; all of which are not necessarily metal. Lyrically, ‘Shadows of Man’ is a statement of coherence superimposed over the divergent narratives of human experience and history. By exploring these narratives from vastly different areas, epochs and perspectives, we seek to demonstrate the futility of humanity’s divisions and the inevitability of history to repeat itself across our conceived boundaries.”
‘Shadows of Man’ is officially out as of August 23rd, 2019, but can be heard in full at the following link below:
Show Dates:
Aug 22 – Centennial Square – Vancouver Island Metal Festival – Victoria, BC – info

Track Listing:
1. State of Nature
2. Knights Collapse
3. Flayed on the Birch Rack
4. Wandering at the Moon
5. To Cultivate with Spears
6. Shadows of Man I: Imperium
7. Shadows of Man II: Cataclysm
8. Where Ancient Spectres Lie
9. Mysterium, Tremendum et Fascinans
BIO:
Scimitar is a metal band hailing from the island capital of Victoria, BC, Canada. Combining influences from melodic-death, folk, and black metal; Scimitar features uncompromisingly heavy drums, high-rollicking fingerstyle bass, dual-guitar-driven harmonies, and gruff yet sharply enunciated harsh vocals that deliver lyrics based in historical fiction and fantasy.
Since 2008 they have firmly cemented their boots in the western Canadian music scene opening for the likes of Ensiferum, Septic Flesh, and Arkona; playing at festivals including Absolute Underground’s Rising Scum Fest, Vancouver Island Metal Festival and Armstrong Metal Fest and releasing two full-length albums, ‘Black Waters’ in 2010 and ‘Shadows of Man’ in 2019.
This musical package is manifested live through blistering energy and sword-edged focus on the audience. Most of Scimitar’s chronicle remains blank, as they have much more to offer the world of metal.

“What I would (and have for the last year or so), consider the top metal prospect of Canada, Scimitar, keep doing what you’re doing because greatness is on its way.”- Metal Master Kingdom
“Deliciously captivating as it is heavy, Scimitar throw their hats into the battle for the best Viking/Pagan Metal act – and they are on their way to winning it all in a bloody conflict that will kill most of the false metal that tries and horribly fails to deliver.” – MetalBite

Announce Double EP Release For ‘That Which Saves Us’ and ‘That Which Destroys Us’ Out Sept 27th

Edmonton’s SLEEPING IN TRAFFIC have been busy writing and recording two EP’s, which while complementary to each other are still dramatically different and allow fans to explore each side of the band’s music as its own entity and to hear each aspect fully fleshed out instead of blended together.
With influences from Between The Buried & Me, Devin Townsend and Tool, the newest album is a split EP that explores that dual nature of the band’s music. One EP ‘That Which Destroys Us’ is dark and aggressive, while the other EP ‘That Which Saves Us’ is upbeat and catchy. The band explains the duality in their vision:
“The first ‘That Which Saves Us’ is the “upbeat EP”. It strongly represents a lot of the pop-punk influences that Ryan and Greg bring to the band, and features songs with inspiring themes and uplifting major keys. The other ‘That Which Destroys Us’ displays more of the band’s extreme metal influences, without abandoning some of the weirdness the band is known for. The EPs continue to explore odd time signatures and polyrhythms in the context of heavily distorted guitars, snarling synths, and guttural vocals.”
The first single for these two releases is ‘Exoplanets’ from ‘That Which Saves Us’, in the band’s own words, they highlight the track:
“As always, our music is designed to take the listener on a journey through unexpected terrain and to reward listeners who sit down with the song and let it carry them along. ‘Exoplanets’ is a big, spacey, synth-filled odyssey that creates a sweeping and ever-changing landscape that tells the story of mankind’s desire to find another place among the stars to live and discover.”
Listen to the exclusive premiere of ‘Exoplanets’ on Prog-Sphere.com here.
The EPs will be available on September 27, 2019 and available for pre-order on Bandcamp.

Bio:
Based out of Edmonton, Canada, Sleeping In Traffic is a progressive metal band whose artistic vision is built around the concept of change. Nothing in the band’s music is intended to remain static. Each album and performance brings new adaptations and innovations; always playing with the sonic possibilities.
Influenced by the likes of Between The Buried and Me, Devin Townsend, and Porcupine Tree, they have been manifesting dynamic, and ever-evolving music since 2014. Sleeping In Traffic released their debut self titled EP in 2014 and the full length ‘Feminism’ in 2017 that is a guitar-driven hard rock/metal concept album that borrows heavily from ska, jazz, pop-punk, and classic prog rock. They have graced many stages in Western Canada including performances at Alberta’s Farmaggedon Metal Fest (2015) and Edmonton’s Shredmonton (2016/17).
Sleeping In Traffic is releasing two new EPs in 2019, ‘That Which Saves Us’ and ‘That Which Will Destroy Us’ each with a different character. One explores the darker, heavier metal influences of the band, while the other channels the more upbeat side to their music. Synthesizers will form a core element to both of these releases due on September 27, 2019.
Sleeping in Traffic consists of four members, each with their own unique and eclectic musical tastes, which influence their contributions to the band.
Greg Turner’s unusual approach to guitar is a core element of Sleeping In Traffic’s music. Stuttered, chaotic time signatures and bizarre chord voices in catchy patterns flow from his fingers to form the basis of many of the songs. His use of a multitude of pedals adds colourful timbres and occasionally acts as their own instrument.
Ryan Berehulke carves out a thundering obelisk of depth from his 5-string bass and his tower of speakers. His style is definitive in a way that meshes perfectly with the guitars to provide a wall of reinforcement, yet often also takes the main stage, without ever abandoning the supreme role as the band’s foundation. His ingenuity in his approach to bass playing is indispensable; from the funky groove and raw, pounding roars; all the way to evolving, ambient textures.
Andrew Bateman is a mad scientist behind a drum-kit. With his intricate knowledge of rhythms, he weaves complex patterns in and around the eccentric time signatures that the music follows. His array of styles ranges from pulverizing metal to pattering, offbeat jazz and everything in between. He is always searching for novel rhythmic cadences and new ways to strike the same drums. He is highly technical, yet playful; often improvising on the spot and testing the limits of his fellow musicians.
Cory Bosse acts as the voice of the band, as well as the source of many of its most unexpected sounds. His bombastic singing style has its roots in the metal music that originally inspired him to make music, yet weaves in a multitude of techniques from the myriad of styles he has explored since. Operatic vibratos flow into passionate howls, jazz scat collapses into death growls, and beat boxing meanders into throat singing in a pandemonium of vocal exploration. To help compliment each song’s particular character, he harnesses the power of a host of instruments, including keys, saxophone, synthesizers, and guitar.
– 30 –
“The 9-track record comes with a focused story-telling, remarkable songwriting and with an offer of something that separates them from the bigger part of the prog gang. The band is not shy to explore within pop, indie rock or alternative and fuse these elements with sound-defining progressive rock and metal influences.” – Prog-Sphere
“Feminism possesses great balance between the up-beat rock tunes polished with rock’s progressive and alternative subgenres, but what this album shows is talent of the band which certainly can bring something epic. Until then, let Feminism shows itself in its full brilliance.” – Progzilla
“sound more like their fellow countrymen Protest the Hero, albeit with a sax in the mix of things. Their overall style is the same careening prog metal that PtH are good at… For a debut album, I am impressed with “Feminism.”… I think Sleeping in Traffic have potential, so they are worth following.” – Progressive Music Planet

JULIET RUIN Drop New Video ‘Spite’ For Upcoming Album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos”

Western Canadian Tour Dates

Since starting on their musical journey in 2015 from the ashes of a previous endeavour, JULIET RUIN has been working tirelessly to make a name for themselves in the Canadian music scene. Making their way across local stages and appearing at several Western Canadian festivals, JULIET RUIN will be unleashing their first full-length album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos” on September 6, 2019 to follow their 2017 debut self titled EP.
Earlier this summer, the Edmonton based band released their first single ‘Seasons‘, a song about the goddess of spring and hell in Greek mythology along with being a nod to badass women everywhere.
Now they are ready to drop their second banger ‘Spite’ with an exciting video that gives a dose of harsh truth via an exclusive premiere on PureGrainAudio.com here.
The band adds:
“‘Spite’ is one of the heaviest on the album, being the very first song where Jess screams entire verses. This song is an honest look at what it is like to regain perspective after dealing with a narcissistic force in one’s life. Spite’s courses are surprisingly upbeat in theme and sound, especially in contrast to the angry verses. It starts intense and continues to intensify throughout.”
Fans of forward-thinking modern metal such as Evanescence, System of a Down, and Killswitch Engage should take special note of this powerful and emotive Canadian band.
The ten-track album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos” showcases a brand that is all their own. They describe their new album as staying true to their roots while continuing to tinker with their sound:
“’Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos’ stays true to a lot of our root qualities in terms of catchy hooks and overall groove, but fans can expect a lot of new and even somewhat experimental things on the album as well. Lyrically speaking this album delves into a little bit deeper subject matter than the EP, focusing a lot of personal introspection and mental health, as well as general societal concerns from differing degrees of headspace; from optimism to apathy.”
Digital stream and download of their first single ‘Seasons’ available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon.
