Matt Chanway – The Beyond (single) (5:13)

“You can hear the love of playing the guitar that emanates from the fingers of this extremely talented player with song after song of thrills and heavy shredding.” – Altered Frequencies

“This is not an album just for shredders, it’s for anyone who wants an album of great metal that will get your head banging and wear your air guitar out.” – The Ripple  Effect

“Burstfire solos, frantic time signatures, complicated riffing and the like are all signposts of an artist who wants to see how far he can go. Unsurprisingly, this ambition pays off. The release could stand on its own as proof that Matt could play alongside the world’s greatest in shred guitar.” – Prog Sphere Magazine, February 2017

“The progressive metal genre never ceases to provide scores of insanely skilled guitar-slingers, and Vancouver’s Matt Chanway can now be recognized as another mind-blowing practitioner of the style.” – Guitar.com

“Ferocious, fast, and fucking awesome, Matt Chanway indeed has a scintillating skill that surely many would aspire to. His compositions are interesting, invigorating, intense, and inspiring: everything instrumental prog metal should be.” – Swept Media

“The guitar god’s name may not be familiar quite yet, but based on this display, it’s evident that Chanway is going to become one of the most recognized modern axe slingers. I dare you to take a listen to this record and not be in awe at the speed, precision, and cohesive spark that carries the record through.” – Lords of Dogwood”

“Released Christmas Day, Matt Chanway’s eponymous solo album is a showcase for his virtuosic guitar playing and intricate song crafting. The six song album is decidedly modern, never resting on its laurels however from time to time, echoes from those pioneers of thrash metal will sear through, keeping the album packed with adrenaline. Produced with the help of drum programmer Jacob Craner and bassist/engineer Stuart Hidalgo, this album will leave you wondering why you ever needed the barking and screeching of a vocalist in the first place.” – Music-News.com

Matt Chanway is a Canadian guitarist, instructor, and session musician from Vancouver BC. His debut album was released in 2016 to critical acclaim, and not long after finished as a finalist in Guitar Idol, the world’s foremost guitar competition showcasing the top emerging players on the planet. Holding a Fellowship in music performance from the University of West London, Matt teaches guitar and theory full-time in his hometown Vancouver BC.

Matt’s playing is inspired by a combination of the old and new school, with rock guitar players from the 80’s, modern progressive “shredders” such as Dan Mongrain and Jeff Loomis, as well as 70’s jazz-rock musicians John Mahavishnu and Al Di Meola. Fans of challenging, progressive, intense instrumental music – artists such as Alluvial, Tony Macalpine, Martyr, Vitalism – will enjoy Chanway’s music.

In 2019, Chanway releases his first new music since 2016, the single ‘The Beyond’. Three more singles are to be released throughout the 2nd half of the year, with info on live performances coming soon.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 14, 2019

AS I MAY Posts New Music Video ‘Cure Is Worse Than Disease‘

New Album “My Own Creations” Out July 26 Worldwide via Rockshots Records, July 24 In Japan via Spiritual Beast

Finnish modern metal act AS I MAY announce they will be releasing their second album “My Own Creations” this coming July 2019. Signing with labels Rockshots Records (Italy) and Spiritual Beast (Japan), the sophomore full length is slated for a worldwide release on July 26th along with it being available in Japan on July 24th.

“My Own Creations” is a fast-paced blend of modern metal with metalcore highlights. It’s heavy, melodic and unique; and sonically more mature than AS I MAY‘s previous release “Speak No Evil” (2017). Working on writing music that is easy to identify with a digital atmosphere, AS I MAY make their listeners headbang and sing along to the catchy choruses.

Paying homage to many old school metal bands, In Flames fans will find a special affinity for this Finnish act.

The band’s next single ‘Cure Is Worse Than Disease‘ follows their first revealed track off the album ‘Pride Goes Before A Fall’. The song was released this past May and has hit over 50k streams on Spotify in its first month.

The band explains the track:

“‘Cure Is Worse Than Disease’ is the most modern sounding song off of the album. It has a lot of dynamic. It’s really easy listening with melodic parts and a couple of seconds later you’re getting a hard heavy beating. It also shows the power of silence. Silence can be equally powerful as the heavy hitting part when placed in the right places. The track can be best described as a touch of post-hardcore and newcore.”

Watch and listen to the new music video for ‘Cure Is Worse Than Disease’ here.

and the band’s previous music video ‘Pride Goes Before A Fall’ can be viewed here.

Bio:
Thrash metal never dies! Like some mutated metal monster, a Thrashzilla if you will, it sees off all trends; and comes back stronger than ever fueled by love from fans and musicians alike. One such band are Ottawa’s ’80s legends INFRARED. A band who made a big impact with Canadian fans in the ’80s and in recent years returned to cement and carry on their own legacy.

Originally, Infrared was a high school band formed in the ’80s by friends who wanted to revel in the classic thrash sound that was quickly gaining traction. Collaborating on their sound since 1985 they have produced an EP (1988’s R.I.P.) and after rising from a 27-year hiatus, 2 albums “No Peace” in 2016 and “Saviours” in 2018.

Moving forward to make up for lost time, they bring a familiar aggressive and melodic classic thrash sound that is full of nostalgia, but also music that is still relevant and valid today. They explore topics that are basic human truths that don’t change over time and they consider themselves reporters through sound. Solidly rooted in classic thrash, Infrared pays homage to the Big Four and is dropping their new EP “Back To The Warehouse” in 2019 on June 14th to finally release the last of their classic material before the newest full-length studio album.

– 30 –

“I can happily say that if you’re a fan of that classic balls to the wall thrash metal sound then you will most certainly get a kick out of Infrared’s “Saviours”… a prime example of what thrash metal is and what it should always be. These Canadian thrashers have stayed true to the sounds they knew when they were in their earlier years and have bought that sound back to the modern era.”  – Overdrive Music Magazine

“It is an excellent album, killer thrash with NWOBHM melodic sensibilities, proper singing, hooks, the full nine yards!” – Hellbound

“a savage and brutal journey of eighties inspired thrash metal, laden with heaviness and menace, heads will be banging hard from start to finish.” – Metal Gods TV

“Their new album Saviours is a thrash party from beginning to end.” – Rock Portaal

“These guys play a heavy/thrash hybrid that’s highly melodic and at times is so damn catchy, some of the songs just stick in your head after the first listen. ” – The Metal Crypt

About:

Mad With Power – the Midwest’s only arcade and heavy metal festival – was a fest built out of spite. Angered by other fests making and breaking promises to him over and over again, fest founder Ty Christian did the only rational thing: make his own fest – and make it better – by filling venues to the brim with free-play arcade and pinball games!

Now in its third year, Mad With Power fest continues to highlight up-and-coming bands in the power metal, thrash metal, and traditional heavy metal sub-genres and attracts more and more concertgoers with new exclusives every year. In just a few years, the fest has created an official drink (Bos Meadery’s “Mad With Power” mead, available on-tap), shocked fans with power metal opera battles, and crafted unique experiences like a playable “heavy metal-themed video game museum” with the help of local sponsors.

The fest has grown year-by-year, and continues to attract attendees from not only the midwest, but across North America and Canada as well!

Bio about founders:

Ty Christian is the vocalist for the band Lords of the Trident and the founder of Mad With Power fest. Ty has been playing in, touring with, booking, and managing bands since 1999, and was a roadie and mixing engineer for bands such as Steppenwolf, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Molly Hatchet, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Ty is also the creative director of the Madison Area Music Association – a charity organization that raises funds to put instruments and music education into local schools – and prides himself on being a leader of the DIY musician movement.

MOUNTAIN DUST Premiere Music Video For Southern Doom Banger ‘Stop Screaming’ via Metal Injection

Set To Play Heavy Montreal July 28th

Scheduled to perform at the world-renowned Heavy Montreal on July 28th, Montreal’s MOUNTAIN DUST has a new music video streaming on Metal Injection for their track ‘Stop Screaming’ in support of the band’s latest album “Seven Storms”, which was released last year. The audio for the video was actually recorded live off the floor and is not a lip-synced visual.

The band adds:

“We wanted to make sure that the video captured the heaviness and epic drama of the song and decided that making a truly live video shot from multiple angles in an impressive location like the Corona Theatre was the right approach. The theatre is like the 5th member of the band. It contributes so much vibe and even adds to the sound. We are very happy with the results.”

As regulars on the international festival circuit, they have toured extensively through Europe and made their place on several international charts. The grimey video is packed full of doomy southern rock vibes that is both melodic and heavy, with enough punch to keep listeners moving.

“Five out of five Satan salutes for Mountain Dust…the music breathed, but it breathed like Godzilla…Imagine Zeppelin on their first American tour, pre-superstardom; that’s the impression Mountain Dust left in their wake.” – CultMTL

Watch the video over on Metal Injection: https://metalinjection.net/video/mountain-dust-will-blow-you-away-with-their-live-performance-of-stop-screaming

“Seven Storms” is available on the band’s online store (CD, Vinyl) here, Spotify, Bandcamp, and all other major online retailers.

Track Listing:
1. Seven Storms (3:46)
2. White Bluffs (3:35)
3. Turn You In (5:11)
4. Inside The Rift (3:10)
5. You Could (4:11)
6. Into The Depths (3:46)
7. Witness Marks (5:44)
8. Old Chills (4:18)
9. Stop Screaming (7:06)

Bio:

Montreal’s Mountain Dust returned in 2018 with a powerful sophomore album entitled “Seven Storms”. The band is on track to further differentiate themselves from the modern rock herd with even more diverse instrumentation and songwriting prowess than their first effort, 2016’s “Nine Years”, which was well received the world over and secured them a deal with German boutique stoner rock imprint Kozmik Artifactz.

“Seven Storms” remains rooted in the heavy rock styles that emerged in the late 1960s/early ’70s but uniquely includes references to emotive soundscapes and cinematic “Spaghetti Western” scores. Vocalist Brendan Mainville continues to use descriptive imagery and clever storytelling to paint vivid pictures of both pain and triumph.
