Northern Quebec’s BACKSTABBER Offers Free Download “No Privacy”

Debut Album “Conspiracy Theorist” Out Feb 15, 2019

L-R: Patrick Gagné (Drums), Christian M. Thériault (Guitars & Vocals), Éric Séguin (Bass & Back Vocals)

From the darkness of Northern Quebec, Canada, Rouyn-Noranda’s assaulting BACKSTABBER are sharing their fury with a FREE download of their single “No Privacy”off their forthcoming debut album “Conspiracy Theorist” set to be unleashed on February 15, 2019. The 10 track album is a fierce full-length that encompasses themes about scandals, critiques of mainstream media and conspiracies such as hollow Earth.

“‘Conspiracy Theorist’ is an album that’s meant to open your mind about the way the world revolves around us as it offers a new perspective on many issues that we see in our lives.” says vocalist/guitarist Christian M. Thériault

Remaining old school, there are no clean vocals or breakdowns here, just a solid and mature death/thrash metal album, with good flow and clear thought in the tracks and compositions.

Their single “No Privacy” is a brutal track focusing on the pervasive usage of metadata collection and their multiple applications merged with quantum analyzing.

The band explains further:

“‘No Privacy’ focuses on the fact that privacy is almost gone with metadata. It makes you question the difference between privacy and liberty. We also explore the possibilities of analyzing metadata with quantum computers and the creation of real-life simulation programs like Sentient World Simulation and their implications in real life. If you can create a real-time virtual reality with quantum computers collecting and analyzing metadata, that program could run simulations of almost everything and in the end, it could guess the future with an unbelievable level of certainty.”

BIO:

Hailing from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada, Backstabber is a formidable death/thrash metal trio inspired by conspiracies, new technologies, philosophy, and history. Covering a vast number of themes throughout their music, Backstabber can be likened to a ‘loose cannon’ with no foreshadowing of what direction they will take next, musically.

Starting with themes and gradually adding riffs, drums, bass and finally vocals, they pride themselves on complimenting their compositions with energetic and interactive live shows, the entire reason for them writing their music.

Eager to bring raw and fierce metal to the ears of listeners, Backstabber has recorded their first full-length “Conspiracy Theorist” set to be released February 15, 2019.

Backstabber has shared the stage with Cattle Decapitation, Depths of Hatred, First Fragment, Ending Tyranny, Insurrection, Blinded by Faith, Aepoch and more.

SHORT BIO

Hailing from the ashes of Charlotte, USA’s darker side comes forth the blackened death metal trio, Oculum Dei. Mixing different elements and influences of black metal the band is set to bring forth a horde of darkness and set the listeners into a realm of deep, chaotic experiences.

Formed in 2016 as a studio project, Tenebris (bass/drum and keys programming) was looking to spread filth with a black metal project and quickly recruited Camalus (guitar) and Zebulv (vocals/guitar) to join the fray. Located in the Bible Belt of the southern USA the goal was to take influences from Emperor, Behemoth and Dark Funeral and push this eclectic unholy blasphemy as far as it would go.

A team effort behind all the songwriting, Oculum Dei has been working on their first album for almost three years and now the dark demonic war chants of ‘Dreams of Desire and Torment’ are ready to be unleashed on February 22, 2019.

LONG BIO

Not content to remain as a studio project, the trio started playing live gigs locally and have shared the stage with Carach Angren, Wolfheart and Mors Principum Est. Clad in corpse paint with an elaborate and continuously evolving stage show, Oculum Dei has heavily invested into their extreme visionary madness.

The name of the band was inspired by the first song that was written by the band, ‘Blinded by the Gods’ and staying true to the genres of both black and death metal, it’s a haunting, aggressive band, in your face and extremely violent.

“We’d describe it as a dark, intense, chaotic hellcoaster through a fog-ridden forest straight into the fires of hell where you are left to battle yourself until life leaves your corpse and your spirit evaporates and leave you wanting more”

A team effort behind all the songwriting, Oculum Dei has been working on their first album for almost three years and now the dark demonic war chants of ‘Dreams of Desire and Torment’ are ready to be unleashed on February 22, 2019.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 3, 2019

For fans of Ihsahn, Opeth, Borknagar

ASHEN HORDE Signs To Extreme Metal Music For New Album “Fallen Cathedrals” Out March 2019

Hailing from the cold, unforgiving wastelands of Hollywood, California, ASHEN HORDE is a two-piece band that strives to embrace a multitude of extreme metal sub-genres, without being bound to any one of them. Drawing influence from metal’s crème de le extreme, from Enslaved and Devin Townsend to Ihsahn and Opeth, ASHEN HORDE (aka Trevor Portz and Stevie Boiser (Vale of Phath, Inferi)), may have a sound rooted in death and black metal, but can’t truly be called either.

Originally launched as a one-man project in 2013 by writer and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Portz, ASHEN HORDE has released two critically acclaimed albums, as well as several EPs, over the past three years. Beginning with the ambitious Sanguinum Vindicta trilogy, Portz has worked tirelessly to develop a sound that is both challenging and unique.

The band has just completed its third album, “Fallen Cathedrals” and has signed with Extreme Metal Music/Rockshots Records for its release on CD and vinyl in Europe and North America on March 22nd, 2019. A concept album in the vein of J.G. Ballard’s dystopian novel “High Rise,” “Fallen Cathedrals” explores class warfare and a society’s descent into primitive, warring tribes. Musically, the album expands further on the complexities of the band’s earlier releases, but with even more emphasis on progressive and melodic elements, even incorporating clean vocals for the first time. It will appeal to fans of the more progressive side of extreme metal, from Ihsahn and Borknagar to Opeth and Enslaved.

Portz adds:

“The forthcoming album, Fallen Cathedrals, is the perfect illustration of what Ashen Horde is all about. Musically, it draws influence from across the metal spectrum. There is hyper speed, blast-beat-fueled black metal that runs alongside pummeling death metal riffs; clean-sung melodic passages juxtaposed against face-melting screams, and headbanging beats intermixed with progressive odd-time signatures.”

Album pre-order will be available on www.Rockshots.eu.

About:

Launched as a one-man project in 2013 by writer and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Portz, Ashen Horde has released two critically acclaimed albums, as well as several EPs, over the past three years. Beginning with the ambitious Sanguinum Vindicta trilogy, Portz has worked tirelessly to develop a sound that is both challenging and unique.

While the earlier work was more firmly rooted in black metal, subsequent releases have begun to shape the Ashen Horde sound into something more genre-neutral. As noted by Dead Rhetoric, “Ashen Horde takes the best of what’s around and melds it into something more interesting than the [individual] parts.”

2015 saw the release of the sophomore album, Nine Plagues. Again written, performed and recorded entirely by Portz, the album was described by Transcending Obscurity as “the ultimate modern death metal experience.” Lavished with positive reviews, the album greatly helped to boost Ashen Horde’s presence in the extreme metal community. In fact, demand for Nine Plagues on vinyl led to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the result being a double-LP version of the album.

2016 brought a major change to the band, as Portz made the decision to bring in a lead vocalist, ending Ashen Horde’s run as a solo project. Portz drafted Stevie Boiser, known for his work with several tech death heavies, including Vale of Pnath, Inferi, and Equipoise. Notes Portz, “I always felt like the vocals I was doing was fine, but they never turned out quite as dynamic as I heard them in my head. Stevie’s skill will, no doubt, push Ashen Horde to a whole new level.” The first release with Boiser on vocals was “The Alchemist” 7”, which saw the band exploring black and roll, giving a nod to bands like Khold and Satyricon.

Which brings us to 2018 and Fallen Cathedrals. The album represents a more diverse Ashen Horde sound but doesn’t compromise on the intensity and aggression for which the band has become known.

Absolute Zero Magazine commented, “If we the underground can get this into the right hands Ashen Horde will be a major force in the extreme metal world for years to come.” Portz and Boiser are ready to see that prediction play out.

I think there was a really good balance between the upbeat and energetic electric songs as well as some more melancholy and mood-shifting acoustic numbers. Marc Durkee created a wonderful thing with ‘Remain In Stasis’, and while I can hear the influences he made it his own. I would definitely look forward to the release of this one.”

He would be a great support for an Opeth, Steven Wilson or Katatonia tour….simply put he has broad horizons as an artist, and his music clearly reflects it.
