This past November, American power metal warriors LORDS OF THE TRIDENT unleashed their 7th studio album “Shadows From The Past”, which they will be touring this January with A Sound of Thunder in support of (dates listed below). While promoting their latest album, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT also launched a Patreon campaign to give fans more exclusive content. One such perk is the band’s first 100% Patreon-funded acoustic album entitled “Pull The Plug” that features all-acoustic re-recorded LORDS OF THE TRIDENT fan-favorite songs from past albums along with a few loved covers by the band.

Vocalist Fang VonWrathenstein comments:

“Acoustic …metal? You wouldn’t think it would be a thing, but here we are! The first time we tried playing our songs on acoustic guitars, they instantly burst into flames. Some experimentation was needed before we were able to successfully record. We tried fastening plate metal to the backs of the guitars, and even went so far as to completely coat a guitar in liquid steel. It took a lot of broken and melted guitars, but we FINALLY found a method that worked. Enjoy one of the most SOOTHING metal albums you’ll ever hear…Perfect for your next heavy metal date night!”

To hear the full stream of “Pull The Plug”, please visit the band’s Bandcamp here.

Blackened Death Trio OCULUM DEI Streaming “Blinded By Gods”

Debut Album “Dreams of Desire and Torment” Out Feb 22, 2019

Hailing from the ashes of Charlotte, USA’s darker side comes forth the blackened death trio, Oculum Dei. Mixing different elements and influences of black metal, the band is set to bring forth a horde of darkness and engage listeners into a realm of deep, chaotic experiences.

First forming as a studio project in 2016 by Tenebris (bass/drum and keys programming), Camalus (guitar) and Zebulv (vocals/guitar), the band has taken their influences of Emperor, Behemoth and Dark Funeral and push an eclectic unholy blasphemy as far as it will go in the Southern USA’s Bible Belt.

Not content to remain as a studio project, the trio has begun performing locally and have shared the stage with Carach Angren, Wolfheart, and Mors Principum Est. Clad in corpse paint with an elaborate and continuously evolving stage show, Oculum Dei has heavily invested into their extreme visionary madness.

A team effort behind all their songwriting, Oculum Dei has been working on their first album for almost three years and now the dark demonic war chants of their debut “Dreams of Desire and Torment” will be unleashed on February 22, 2019.

The band comments:

“The album as a whole is an eclectic mix of slow dark black metal jumping into extreme black riffs sometimes slowed down with a death metal riff and into acoustic guitars. There is no set template for this one, just a groove and feel that each of us has brought to the table.”

The first single off the debut “Blinded By Gods” is a tribute to old school black metal with riffs and slings lyrics towards Christianity being a fake while saying only God exists in us.

0 Cover of A Perfect Circle’s ‘3 Libras’ By Nova Scotia’s Atmospheric Prog MARC DURKEE

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 9, 2019

For fans of Katatonia, Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Cloudkicker

Nova Scotia’s Atmospheric Prog MARC DURKEE Posts Acoustic Cover of A Perfect Circle’s ‘3 Libras’

New Album “Remain In Stasis” Out January 2019

New Music Video Offers “A Way To Escape”

Yarmouth, Nova Scotia’s solo atmospheric prog artist Marc Durkee is a big fan of American supergroup A Perfect Circle. Covering their songs over the years, he’s has posted his latest acoustic rendition of ‘3 Librs’, which can be viewed on his youtube channel where other past covers from personal favourites can be watched.

Marc Durkee – ‘3 Libra’ (A Perfect Circle) – https://youtu.be/YEQasV0ipp8

Inspired by Katatonia, Tesseract, Anathema, Devin Townsend, Coheed & Cambria, Marc Durkee’s music can be described as “a blend of progressive, metal/rock, doom metal, post-hardcore, and post-rock.”

Durkee’s new album ‘Remain In Stasis’ will be out on out January 18th, 2019 and is loaded with deep meaning to this courageous and talented solo artist, as he explains.

“The first meaning of this release is personal. I’ve been stuck in a state of depersonalization for almost five years now. For me, it’s been a chronic symptom of dealing with years of depression and stress, and it’s unrelenting. When it’s at its worst, it removes mostly all motivation and enjoyment from my life. While that is unfortunate, it does serve as a major source of inspiration for song-writing…The second meaning is more political and universal. I feel that humanity is at a unique point in our history, with technology and social media allowing us to communicate and express ourselves in ways that were previously unimaginable. And yet, nobody really DOES communicate. It seems as though it’s mostly used as a platform to bicker over political ideals and agendas and create discourse, or for anyone to use as their own personal performance venue. Everyone wants to be seen and heard, even those who really don’t deserve to be.”

Marc Durkee is one artist who really does deserve to be heard, and when ‘Remain In Stasis’ is released, all the world will hear him.

Album pre-order available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon
