Test Your Metal Records: India’s OVERHUNG Recruit New Drummer Pritesh Prabhune

Coming off their Canadian debut performance at Indie Week in Toronto earlier this November, India’s rock ‘n roll lovers OVERHUNG announce they have recruited new skin basher Pritesh Prabhune whom is also an accomplished live sound engineer who has mixed the likes of Wolfmother and Puddle Of Mudd plus stage managed for Incubus and Alt J on their recent appearances in India. Prabhune replaces the band’s long time drummer and founding member Sheldon Dixon.
Vocalist Sujit Kumar comments:
“Sheldon has been a part of every milestone Overhung has had as a band thus far. We wish him the best of luck his future endeavors and pray for success to follow him wherever he goes. Pritesh is one of those musicians that have literally grown up following bands around since he was in shorts. His versatility allows him to play several genres of music effortlessly with bands like In Memory Of, Chronic Phobia and several others. Although his back ground in Heavy Metal and Hard Rock is what clinched the deal for him. Overhung and the band’s management are happy to announce him as the newest addition to the band.”
Pritesh Prabhune started playing drums at the age of 21 in 2007 and has toured extensively across India as a drummer, live sound engineer, stage manager and drum technician. He is currently endorsed by Meinl Cymbals and Bhargavas Musik along with performing with other musical groups such as blues act Howard Pereira Trio, pop act Sherise D’Souza Collective, deathcore band Grimmortal, black metal band Stark Denial, groove metal band Sutledge among many more. He also plays for a variery of other artists, mostly independent Indian bands like Daira, Paradigm Shift, Ankur & The Ghalat Family, Anand Bhaskar Collective, Blakc, Bombay Bassment being the most prominent ones, and in the commercial space – Prem Joshua & Band, Gaurav Dagaonkar, Piyush Kapoor Live and subbing / subbed for Kailasa, Mame Khan, Divya Kumar, Indian Ocean, The Bartender, Ash King Live, Point Of View (Dubai) and many more.
Live videos of Pritesh Prabhune can be viewed on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Priteshda21/videos
Influenced by Poison, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, OVERHUNG‘s sound is all about loud, fun, sex, rum and rock ‘n’ roll. The band released their debut album “Moving Ahead” during February of this year on Test Your Metal Records. The full length was an electrifying 10 tracks capturing the band’s infectious energy to blast from the stereo speakers and give fans that classic glam rock n’ roll feel of the 70’s and 80’s. The band then later followed up the album with a new single entitled “King of Dreams” during the summer. The single was recorded, mixed, and mastered with band members being spread across, 3 continents, 4 countries, 5 different studios and 6 different engineers.
As vocalist Sujit Kumar says “This is stuff dreams are made up of.”
“King of Dreams” can be heard at the following link: https://youtu.be/DmSthjxUOF4
Their debut album “Moving Ahead” is now available for download and full stream on Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes.

About:
The steel seeds of hard rockin’ music find fertile ground all over the world. All races and religions embrace it. Music should become the new worldwide religion; we’d have moshing instead of wars! Good times!
The love of music is strong in India, and stronger than all in the splendidly named OVERHUNG who hail from Mumbai! The band owe their name to unique vocalist Sujit Kumar who changed Hungover to Overhung…which speaks even more volumes than their music!
OVERHUNG are making the most debauched melodic hard rock since Guns ‘n’ Roses released their classic ‘Appetite For Destruction’. With a successful debut full length ‘Moving Ahead’ under their belts set to be re-released in 2018 via Canadian label Test Your Metal Records, great live shows, and a planned follow up single entitled ‘King of Dreams’, OVERHUNG are ready to offer the world killer sounds coming straight outta India!
Influenced by Poison, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin , guitarist Howard Pereira describes their sound as “loud, fun, sex, rum…rock ‘n’ roll! We are about devolution not evolution! We are still doing late 80s and 90s rock!”
Pereira explains the very reason for OVERHUNG’s creation was when the members jammed “the energy was infectious and all of us wanted to write more kick-ass music with together…We hope that people are open to hearing our music in 2017. The band’s music is largely arena rock sounding, so at live gigs people just lose it and have a blast!”
You have to see OVERHUNG play because they have “insane live energy! Quite frankly there is no one like Sujit Kumar when it comes to live performances. He is shameless and you can’t take your eyes off him. His antics include table dancing, interacting with women (and men too sometimes), climbing everything in sight from light poles to bartops! It is engaging for the audiences. Also we deliver tight and fun glam-rockish sets that go down well!”

“A GREAT ALBUM by a band who learned the lesson from the Hard Rock Masters but looking to the future!” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal
“Opening up with the catchy number “Sex Machine”, Overhung’s debut album is a good first effort and should appeal to fans of Poison, Kiss, AC/DC, and Guns N’ Roses.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine
“Ten songs party addicted influenced by the 70’s and 80’s hard rock, the album itself is a thrilling work with glam rock lines.” – Rockers and Other Animals Mag
“They embody the sex, drugs and rock n roll attitude and spirit with songs like “Sex Machine”, “Must Drink” and “Casual Bitch”. The whole album rock’s from start to finish. These guys know what rock n roll is all about and without a doubt are on a mission to bring it back to the world. Get this album you won’t be disappointed. With bands like Overhung rock n roll will truly never die!!!” – The Dirty Room

BIO:Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) high school years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since.
Originally formed in 2009, the band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.
Inspired by all manner of science fiction, especially classic sci-fi movies, Dire Peril regrouped as a double piece; Ashcraft was joined by singer John Yelland, and together they began working on the debut album titled “The Extraterrestrial Compendium,” set for release on November 9, 2018. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including an upcoming North American tour with Seven Kingdoms allowing the American sci-fi power metal band to reach its final form and share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

BIO:
Since climbing out of a volcano in 2008, shrouded in metal and ash, Lords of the Trident have gone to battle on many stages across the USA, playing and headlining a plethora of festivals and have an admirable arsenal of recordings in their inventory. The Lords of The Trident have released three full albums: “Death or Sandwich” (2009), “Chains on Fire” (2011), “Frostburn” (2015) , three EPs: “Plan of Attack” (2013), “A Very Lords of the Trident Christmas” (2014), “Re:Quests” (2015), and two live DVDs, along with numerous compilation singles.
Their live shows include medieval costumes, pyrotechnics, confetti cannons, guitars set ablaze, and of course, excellent technical musicianship that challenges the standard for how live music should be experienced. Citing influences such as Iron Maiden, Scar Symmetry and Judas Priest, and embracing lyrical themes inspired by great battles, conquests, dragon-fighting, virtual reality, and out-of-control robots Lords of the Trident dish out face-melting power that is enjoyed by fans of all races and classes.

0 mETAL tEMPLE – Lords of the Trident – Shadows From the Past
The opener, “Death Dealer”, musically is reminiscent of AMON AMARTH; it is dirty in its delivery, yet heavily melodic. The instant influence of JUDAS PRIEST is strongly present and the band knows how to use that inspiration very well. We have a great use of vocal harmonies here as well. The half-time riffs add an interesting dynamic amongst some shredding solos.
