New Album ‘Five Stages of Numb’ Out Via Zombie Shark Records

Salt Lake City’s RIKSHA have released the official music video for the song‘Skeleton Rain Dance’ taken from their latest full length album ‘Five Stages of Numb’. The video was shot in a green screen studio in Salt Lake City and was produced by Masha Goruleva of All4band Studios in Czech Republic Koruna.

Riksha frontman Palmer states, “The song Skeleton Rain Dance was inspired by the loss of (our bassist) Kevin Bronson’s brother (Carcass). The song is about feeling invisible, feeling lost in one’s own skin, loneliness and suicide.”
Riksha recently inked a worldwide deal with Zombie Shark Records, the new record label from Noah “Shark” Robertson (Motograter, Ex-The Browning). The band’s latest album ‘Five Stages Of Numb’ was recorded at Elevate Studios by notable producer and drummer for Chelsea Grin, Pablo Viveros. Album art was provided by Die Elster.
‘Five Stages of Numb’ is available now at www.zombieshark.net and everywhere else digital music is sold.
‘Skeleton Rain Dance’ is the third installment in a series of powerful and imaginative music videos released in support of Riksha’s new album. The band also unveiled a computer animated music video for the title-track ‘Five Stages of Numb’ produced by Vladyslav Tsarenko which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/g3Vyz8OkTEE In addition, the official music video for ‘Shovel It’can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/LV3d_G_Wdv4
Riksha’s sound is affectionately known as “throg”, a mixture of “thrash” and “progressive”. The band can best be compared to bands such as Mudvayne, Tool, Pantera, A Perfect Circle, Soulfly, Nothingface, and Coal Chamber.
Riksha have released 2 previous studio albums recorded by Bruce Kirby at Boho Digitalia Studios – ‘Dream Drops Red’ released through Dark Harvest Records and the independently released ‘Night Begins’. Riksha burned up the underground metal scene in 2012, winning Project Independent’s “Industry Panel Favorite” voted on by a panel of producers, A&R reps, and record company owners. Since then, the band has purchased a 1973 Eagle Tour Bus and has hit the road throughout the US. Riksha is currently making plans to tour the U.S. in support of their upcoming release.
Zombie Shark Records label manager Michael Boodagh states, “Riksha is a growing artist that is continually perfecting their craft. I am pleased to welcome them to the ZSR team! I can’t wait to see what comes next!”
Riksha takes four guys and squeezes out as much sound and energy as possible. With a combination of both melodic and in your face vocal and guitar styles, Riksha hammers away with a musical montage of aggression, power, and strength to create a new and bold sound.

PureGrainAudio Premiere EMPTY THREAT New Single “Out of Sync” + New EP “Shutdown Nowhere” Out Oct 6th

Fusing punk, post-grunge, and prog rock, Mississauga, ON’s EMPTY THREAT are an alternative band making noise in Ontario and Quebec playing shows routinely in Toronto, London, Montreal and more. Formed in 2011 by bassist Ryan Dobson and guitarist/singer Michael Roane, the duo acquired drummer David Jameson in 2014 and soon after they recruited second guitarist Matthew Roane to solidify their line up in 2015.
Wasting no time, the quartet is now planning the release of their debut EP entitled “Shutdown Nowhere” due out October 6, 2017. Teaming up with award winning producer/engineer/mixer Glen Robinson who is known for his work with such names as The Ramones, AC/DC, GWAR, Annihilator and Voivod, the EP is their first professionally recorded release.
Vocalist / guitarist Michael Roane comments:
“We are a young band, developing our style and pushing forward to provide a new sound experience. Most of the songs we have been working on for years – and have been through multiple edits and versions. This will be our first, legitimate attempt to introduce ourselves to the world – so we hope that fans will hear our songs and feel a slight familiarity to the genre, but will appreciate the unique touch we put in our songs – as we combine elements from multiple genres and use our effects to put a different perspective on old ideas. We also want people to know first and foremost our band is about creating passionate music that may resonate with other people. On the surface, we make music that has a carefully crafted intensity – like a chained beast tugging at the leash. For those who want to dig deeper, they see how this sound represents us, as people, and our struggles to reach our potential. We connect with our fans through these shared emotions.”
The forthcoming “Shutdown Nowhere” EP will feature six new crushing tracks full of introspective verse.
Roane adds “We aim to introduce ourselves by having a “new familiarity” feel to our songs. Veterans of rock and metal should be comfortable listening to our songs, but we aim to blend in elements that will surprise them.”
Teaming up with PureGrainAudio.com, the band is premiering their first single off the EP “Out of Sync”, a track that presents itself as an oddball grunge/punk/metal song that dances on its uneven cadence to capture the feeling of disconnect with oneself as described lyrically. Many other songs on the EP follow up in a similar fashion, capturing all sorts of different perspectives and emotions experienced.

Live, EMPTY THREAT delivers a very high-energy and engaging show where they often improvise extended bridges and endings to songs to hype the crowd more. They take the negativity and loathing present in their songs and ramp up the energy to a powerful force that is a memorable moment that their fans can walk away with.

About:
Assembled in 2003 to infiltrate, build and destroy, Gatineau, QC’s INSURRECTION is an aural onslaught assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English. Known for blending calculated technicality with a signature mixture of merciless death metal, the band has emerged to be one of the most prominent Eastern Canadian metal bands.
“We are a hybrid of the best and the worst that the metal underground has to offer, completely familiar, yet hard to pin down, better categorized as the many oddly familiar faces that death metal can take.” says band founder and vocalist Stef Jomphe.
Their 2009 debut release ‘Prologue’ gave true life to their monstrosity, the formation launched their second release 2010′s ‘Fracture’, a dark prophecy of unforgivable times and a brutal soundtrack to the fall of man. It pushed the limits with every outing, creating Insurrection to become more than the sum of its parts, but a merciless abomination.
In 2013, their third album ‘Prototype’ produced by Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) was unleashed on Quebec label Galy Records and another well acclaimed brutal assault that converted the unwitting to their legion.
Pushing development to blasphemous levels and quickly spreading their notoriety to areas of Quebec and Ontario. INSURRECTION continues to expand and modulate to corrupt the entire East coast of Canada returning with their new album “Extraction”. A ten track aberration, ready to shock and blast fans to the next life. The album is produced by Pierre Rémillard at Wild Studio (Cryptopsy, Obliveon, Anonymus, Voivod, Krisiun, Ghoulunatics, Despised Icon, Beneath the Massacre, Gorguts, Martyr, etc) and features guest vocals from Bruno Bernier (Obliveon) on “Data Extracted … End Transmission”. The album is slated for release on October 6, 2017 via Galy Records.

“Insurrection play a groovy type of death metal that’s equal parts Dying Fetus, Decapitated and Lamb of God.” – Metal Sucks
“Head-banging, crushing riffs are the name of the game throughout Prototype, starting with the aptly titled “Abattoir,” which slashes and chops its way through speedy, thrash-esque rhythms and machine-gun drums. “The Chronophobes” adds some technical twists, as well as a more unpredictable structure, while highlight “Checkmate” balances intense grooves and an abundance of fierce, grimy riffs. The album features lyrics in both French and English, adding more interest to the vocals, which range from deep gutturals to high-pitched shrieks…it’s a well-executed, strong release.” – Exclaim!
““Prototype” is the band’s third record, and it’s packed full of jaw-dropping metal brilliance. It’s as solid a death metal record as I’ve heard in the last little while, and it makes me proud – because it’s always good to see something great come out of your hometown.” – Bloody Underrated
“If you are a fan of vigorous and crushing guitar riffs and Growls that are strong enough to make your ears bleed then you need to check this album out. A huge and very successful aspect about this album is the fact that there are songs in both English and French. Even if you can only understand a few lyrics in French like me you will easily surpass this fact and be simply drawn in by the technical Death Metal display that Insurrection puts on in this album.” – Kingston Music Reviews
“One of many great things about the album is the mix of English and French sung batterings upon the senses, the mix adding extra pleasing flavour and texture as shown through the likes of Sueurs Froides, where the bass of Girard reaches into its primal depths to forge a rabid predatory voice to its sound, and the virulently swarming Trois Minutes De Carnage, the track a magnetic pestilence with senses licking grooves and acidic enticement around thumping rhythmic incitement commanding the emotions and imagination.” – Ring Master Review

0 Album news: Planet Eater – Blackness From The Stars
“If you like your music at the heavier end of the metal spectrum Planet Eater is a band you should have on your radar. They have a seriously heavy sound that blends the best bits of Neurosis and Crowbar into a crushing collection of songs that pummel and pummel until your ears are reduced to mush. Blackness From the Stars mixes sludgy numbers like the opener, The Boats, with more peddle-to-the-metal songs like Pile of Bones. Planet Eater leaves little in the tank by the records end. The album consists of 9 tracks. It’s short, sharp, heavy and features very solid musicianship and a strong vocalist in Donovan Turner. Hit play, let your ears be assaulted for 37 minutes and then go have a cold shower, that’s my advice.”
