Calgary thrashers ILLYRIAN will be hitting the road for May tour dates in Alberta and British Columbia (dates listed below). The tour is in support of their latest album ‘Round 2: Fight!’ unleashed during October of last year. The album was co-produced by the band with Casey Lewis at Echo Base Studios plus mastered by Sacha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) at Perfect Fifth Studios.
Formed in 2011 under the name Hellborn Death Engines, the band resurfaced under the new moniker ILLYRIAN with the additions of bassist / vocalist Jeff Perry (Sikarra, ex-Animus Labyrinth) plus British drum sensation Darren May (ex-Deacon Birch) who have brought new and progressive musical mindsets into the band to join original and founding members Scott Onofrychuk (guitars/vocals) and Brandon McNeil (guitar/vocals).
Evolving into a highly technical group playing thrash metal with their erratic and precise on-stage delivery, rapier wit, along with nostalgic charm, ILLYRIAN have removed the constraints of conventional metal sub-genre formula to replace their sound with a melting pot of technical thrash riffs, blistering solos, prog-influenced rhythms along with the band’s signature tri-vocal attack.

Ottawa, ON’s LONGHOUSE came into being in 2013 when guitarist Marc Casey and bassist/vocalist Joshua Cayer turned their long-standing song-writing partnership into a full band with drummer Mike Hache to complete their circle of dark, riffy, heavy textured doom metal. They released their debut album ‘Earth from Water’ in 2015, a spiritual odyssey into the perseverance of the human spirit and the lessons we can learn from the natural world.
In November 2016, LONGHOUSE returned to Wolf Lake Studios to record with Mike Bond (Loviatar, Norilsk, Arms of the Girl) once again as producer and engineer for the outcome to be their sophomore album entitled “II: Vanishing”. The album continues the pleasing progression of their debut while retaining the band’s core sound of heavy, intricate riffs, splashed with a touch of post-metal to guide you on a dark and visceral journey spanning nearly 40 minutes over five tracks.
“II: Vanishing has a logical evolution that is evident in the composition, as well as production. I also think that fans should take a moment to reflect on some of themes that are threaded throughout the album.” says vocalist / bassist Joshua Cayer. “The bulk of my ideas musically and lyrically come from exploring Indigenous ways of knowing. I am Algonquin First Nations. My family’s community is Kitigan Zibi, outside of Maniwaki, QC. However, I grew up in the city, mostly detached from my culture. As a father, I have been trying to immerse myself in the stories, wisdom, and strength of our Elders, knowledge keepers and story tellers, so that I can pass that on to my daughters. Because this takes up so much space in terms of who I am, and who I am becoming, it plays a very large part in terms of influences I draw upon.”
Those influences can be heard in LONGHOUSE‘s first single “No Name, No Marker”, a song written for the voiceless Indigenous children who were abused and died while forced to attend residential schools in Canada and were buried in unmarked graves.

“The one song from the album released for public listening so far is “No Name, No Marker“, and if you guess that refers to graves, you would be correct. It’s a riveting mix of doom and post-metal with blackened shrieking in the vocal department. After a haunting, grief-stricken opening, the track becomes heavier and more intense by orders of magnitude, eventually becoming a big juggernaut of earthquaking chugs and groaning chords, with guitar leads that shimmer, flicker, and spiral around the powerful rhythms like ghost lights. The wrenching vocals add to the music’s intensity, and the grinding bass solo is a nice touch as well.” – No Clean Singing
“Longhouse plays a musical style that takes sludge and doom metal and mixes them with with a very heavy vocal approach to create a very dark sounding recording, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover various spiritual and occult concepts.” – Doomed to Darkness

“These Canadian doomsters may have a penchant for blistering fuzz-laden riffs, but there’s just as much focus on this, their second album, on atmospherics. Post-metal-influenced sonics are integral from the opening moments of the album, and remain throughout….Longhouse are to be commended for one thing, it’s the skill with which they blend the elements of their sound to provide a full-length that is as primitive as it is sinister.” – Bonded By Metal – 8/10
“Man, I don’t think I’ve been this geeked out about a Canadian post-sludge record since Pyres put out Year of Sleep back in 2013!” – Hellbound.ca – 8/10
“This album is raw, tranquil, oppressive and emotive but is always of the highest quality… if you’re in the mood for a hybrid of heaviness drawing comparisons and influences from the likes of Cult of Luna, High on Fire, Neurosis, Khemmis, Unearthly Trance, we set our Sludgelord dial to stun because this album is spectacular.” – The Sludgelord
“The album is a thunderous affair, monumental in stature yet devoid of pretence, II: Vanishing‘s music befits the reverential subject matter. ” – ToiletovHell
“It might only be 5 songs long but Longhouse do more in that time then many bands do in double that. It’s a doom masterpiece that isn’t afraid to mess around with different ideas.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life
“The one song from the album released for public listening so far is “No Name, No Marker“, and if you guess that refers to graves, you would be correct. It’s a riveting mix of doom and post-metal with blackened shrieking in the vocal department. “This is an album that’s an extremely accomplished and enjoyable listen. For a great mix of sludgy doom with progressive, post-metal and atmospheric elements, Longhouse might very well be one of my new favourites.” – Wonderbox Metal
“The songs on this, 5 track, album are brutal from start to finish. Songs like ‘Blood and Stone‘ and ‘The Vigil‘ both threaten the world with absolute subjugation and eternal, bloody domination.” – 925 Rebellion
“drowned in the beauty of both the instrumentals and lyricism. If you have a chance I highly recommend both this releas and the bands debut album from 2015 Earth From Water.” – Canadian Beats
“Longhouse plays a musical style that takes sludge and doom metal and mixes them with with a very heavy vocal approach to create a very dark sounding recording, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover various spiritual and occult concepts.” – Doomed to Darkness
“Longhouse creates another recording that remains true to the sludge, doom, and post metal mixtures of their previous release, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover Indigenous culture themes. In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Longhouse and if you are a fan of sludge, doom, and post metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE “Hunter’s Moon” and “The Vigil”. 8 out of 10.” – Hatred Means War
“This trio from the Canadian capital of Ottawa plays top notch heavy sludge metal. The cover art inspired by the world turtle mythology really caught my eye, it’s pretty gorgeous and fits the quasi atmospheric side of the band well. They include some sad traditionnal doom melodies from time to time such as on “Gehenna Gate” and some progressiveness, especially in the well composed and modern guitar melodies.” – Metantoine’s Magical Realm
“It’s hard to pin down the genre style of this song, so I’m not going to try. I’ll just say that it’s a rhythmically dynamic piece of music, with some very heavy, very catchy riffs, hook-filled guitar arpeggios, a slow, sinuous melody that proves to be very striking when it surfaces in the song’s back half, and the kind of snarling vocals that wouldn’t be out of place in a black metal band. (track: Earth from Water)” – No Clean Singing
“Longhouse has only released demos up to now, but these recordings are very convincing, and a promise of the potential this band has: raspy vocals reminding me of Thou, heavy grooves à-la-Kylesa and early Rwake, hard hitting drums, and a few atmospheric post-metal passages…Definitely a band to keep an eye on.” – Metal Made In Canada

Ottawa’s LONGHOUSE came into being in 2013, when guitarist Marc Casey and bassist/vocalist Joshua Cayer turned their long-standing song-writing partnership into a full band with drummer Mike Hache to complete their circle of dark, riffy, heavy textured doom metal.
LONGHOUSE released their debut album ‘Earth from Water’ in 2015, a spiritual odyssey into the perseverance of the human spirit and the lessons we can learn from the natural world, something increasingly important as the human race sinks evermore darkly into digital isolation. Even the name LONGHOUSE gives a sense of strength, of drawing power from the earth.
In November 2016, Longhouse returned to Wolf Lake Studios, to record their sophomore album, using Mike Bond (Loviatar, Norilsk, Arms of the Girl) once again as producer and engineer. Entitled ‘II: Vanishing’, the album has a pleasing progression from LONGHOUSE’s debut while retaining the band’s core sound of heavy, intricate riffs, splashed with a touch of post-metal to guide you on a dark, and visceral journey over five tracks spanning nearly 40 minutes.
“II: Vanishing has a logical evolution that is evident in the composition, as well as production. I also think that fans should take a moment to reflect on some of themes that are threaded throughout the album.” says Cayer.
As much as Cayer is a musician, he is a strong lyricist drawing on his own origins to create song-words that are light-years away from any traditional heavy metal clichés. He draws attention to historic and current issues affecting Indigenous populations in Canada, such as the Indian Residential School System plus Murdered and Missing Indigenous women and girls (MMIW).
“The bulk of my ideas for lyrics come from exploring Indigenous ways of knowing. I am Algonquin First Nations. My family’s community is Kitigan Zibi, outside of Maniwaki, QC. However, I grew up in the city, mostly detached from my culture. As a father I have been trying to immerse myself in the stories, wisdom, and strength of our Elders, knowledge keepers and story tellers, so that I can pass that on to my daughters. Because this takes up so much space in terms of who I am, and who I am becoming, it plays a very large part in terms of influences I draw upon.”
LONGHOUSE’s ‘II: Vanishing’ will be available digitally on April 14, 2017 via their Bandcamp with physical cassette release June 2017 (date to be determined) via Sunmask Records.
Track By Track described by vocalist / bassist Joshua Cayer
1. Hunter’s Moon:
This is the beginning of the journey into the darkness and the unknown – hunting by the extended period of light provided by the last full moon before the winter settles in for the long, cold season. There is a duality in the long shadows created by the moon: an obstacle, concealing treacherous terrain and obscuring dangers in our midst; and an opportunity, providing cover to use so that we may succeed in our task. This sets the tone for the subject matter of the album.
2. Vanishing:
This is the title track of the album, and is part of our efforts to bring awareness to the issue of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women in Canada. It is a call to recognize one of the many symptoms of the colonial process and failed attempts to assimilate Indigenous populations, as well as a way to honour and acknowledge all the brave women and girls who have come forward to share their very personal stories of abuse and victimization. The song was largely inspired by the Maclean’s article ‘It Could Have Been Me’ – http://site.macleans.ca/longform/almost-missing/
3. Blood and Stone:
This song is about recognizing the shared humanity of all people, and the intricate and complex web of relationships we share with the earth and all of creation. For Indigenous peoples, honouring and caring for these relationships is of the utmost importance. We must value all of creation, from the waters, to the plants, to the animals, to the minerals in the soil and the sky and heavens above. All relations are significant and all things have a purpose – whether it is blood, or a stone, or anything in between.
4. No Name, No Marker:
This song is written from the voice of children who died while forced to attend residential schools, and were buried in unmarked graves. Between the 1880s and 1996, over 150,000 Indigenous children were forced to attend Indian Residential Schools – church and government run industrial boarding schools. Many survivors reported suffering all levels of abuse at the hands of school staff. The mortality rates, due to poor living conditions, overcrowding, illness, abuse, and neglect were so high that in the 1920s it became policy to no longer keep record of children’s deaths. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission has recorded approximately 3201 children who died from conditions related to these schools. It is feared that the true number could reach as high as 80,000. Many children remain unnamed, and many buried in unmarked graves.
5. The Vigil:
This song was written as a collaborative effort with JD Gobeil from Loviatar. It is an exploration of stories of the Thunderbirds. They are immense birds found in First Nations stories, and are regarded as protectors of the earth. The beating of their powerful wings bring strong storms, and their eyes are the source of lightning bolts, which they use to protect the earth and humans from the horned serpents – huge snakes that dwell deep beneath the waters. Thunderbirds have the power to transform themselves and the things around them, often using this ability to teach lessons to those who would break natural laws.

Tour Dates Updated: Reggae Metal Fusion NINJASPY Cross Canada Tour
New Album ‘Spüken’ Out April 14th + New Video ‘Speak’
‘Spüken’ produced by Garth Richardson (Kittie, RATM, Mudvayne, The Melvins)

Vancouver’s NINJASPY, a trio of blood brothers that have created a metal fusion of hard, heavy, hook-laden music that runs the gamut of reggae, surf, metal and more will be performing their explosive and powerfully unhinged live show across Canada in support of their next full length ‘Spüken’ due out April 14, 2017. Their album is once again produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mudvayne, Gallows) and Ben Kaplan (Biffy Clyro, Atreyu, Haste the Day) to follow NINJASPY‘s 2013 EP / graphic novel ‘No Kata’ and their 2007 debut ‘Pi Nature’. The album release tour will be the band’s sixth tour across the country and also marks six years since 2011 that they have trekked from West to East, the last time being in support of their debut album.
The band’s first full single / music video ‘Speak’ off ‘Spüken’ can be watched at the following link below and can be downloaded from their online store, iTunes, CD Baby and Bandcamp.
Music Video – Speak – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32B6xJBNHYs
About ‘Spüken’:Years in the making since spring 2014 when NINJASPY launched the “Jump Ya Bones” and crowd funding Campaign, the band was able to raise $15,000 to fund the new full length. They began recording in November 2014, taking their culmination of nearly a decade of songs and narrowing them down to an epic 10 track experience to demonstrate all their downbeats to breakdowns to their weaving of reggae, hardcore, metal and much more.
“These 10 songs span a decade, so there are a lot of different feels happening from song to song that represent what we got into over the years. It’s like we spent 10 years swallowing everything life threw at us, then we threw it all back up again, and are now able to listen to the blended, half-digested version of it.” says vocalist / guitarist Joel Parent.
‘Spüken’ was recorded and mixed sporadically over the next two years in Vancouver, BC and in the spring of 2016 between recording sessions, the band teased fans with a filmed and recorded live acoustic performance of their track ‘Azaria’, a song that is included with full metal instrumentation on the new genre-bending album. It showed the true diversity of the band and their ability to take manic and intense music and make it tender and raw.

0 NEWS: NoCleanSinging Premiere SIGIL ‘Even The Gods Will Burn’; Debut Album Out April 7th via HPGDP

NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – March 22, 2017
For Fans of Entombed, Dismember, Tragedy, His Hero is Gone, Entrails, Fatalist, Black Breath
NoCleanSinging Premiere Austin Death Metallers SIGIL ‘Even The Gods Will Burn’
Debut Album ‘Kingdom of The Grave’ Out April 7th via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions signed Austin, TX’s crusty death metal destroyers SIGIL for the release of their debut album entitled ‘Kingdom Of The Grave’ to be unleashed on April 7th on CD and digital formats.
The album’s title track was released a few weeks ago and now they’re ready for another brutal assault with ‘Even The Gods Will Burn’ premiered on NoCleanSinging.com at the following link: http://www.nocleansinging.com/2017/03/22/an-ncs-premiere-sigil-even-the-gods-will-burn/
“this is definitely the thrashiest/fastest track on the record and stands apart from the other songs for that reason. Thematically it’s about the destructive nature of radicalized religion, regardless of what that religion is.” comments vocalist / guitarist Alex Citrone.
SIGIL successfully blends classic Swedish death metal with American crust resulting in catchy, crushing chaos. Keeping true to the old school faith, their debut album ‘Kingdom Of The Grave’ is unrelenting in its death metal attack, which also incorporates raw D-beat aggression complimented by slashing solo’s and throat-ripping vocals. 0 NEWS: New Noise Mag Video Premiere ADRIAN PAIN & THE DEAD SEXY ‘Day One’ + Ontario Show Dates

(contact info below)
NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – March 22, 2017
For fans of Alexisonfire, Deftones, Of Mice & Men
New Noise Mag Video Premiere ADRIAN PAIN & THE DEAD SEXY ‘Day One’ + Ontario Show Dates
New EP ‘Mixed Messages’ Out Now!

Toronto, ON’s Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy unleashed their new EP ‘Mixed Messages’ this past February to continue their solid chemistry of an ‘Allcore’ metal sound with emotionally stirring and socially conscious lyrics. The EP is a marriage of Adrian Pain’s solo endeavours and The Dead Sexy’s band work to follow EPs ‘Picture Day At Night School’ (2014) and their debut ‘The First One Is Free’ (2013) along with Pain’s solo full length ‘Love Letters & Suicide Notes’ (2012).
Pain describes ‘Mixed Messages’:
“This release is like the gateway drug to metal and heavier music in general! We appeal to a very wide range of musical tastes so guys can play us for their girlfriends, and girls can play us for the guys. If you identify another way, you can play us for whomever you’d like. If any negative response comes out of it, it’ll be the fans that expect every song to get heavier with each effort. What I hope they notice is the constant evolution of our sound. The music itself is getting more and more diverse and progressive, while the song structures are also evolving into bigger, more complex arrangements. I want everyone that listens to this record to feel an emotional connection. I want people to relate to, and hear the MESSAGE in each track.”
In support of the new EP, the ‘Allcore’ metal band has teamed with New Noise Mag for the premiere of their new video ‘Day One’.
“The band and I are all fans of ‘play through’ videos. Usually you’d see individual play through videos like bassists, drummers, or guitarists by themselves. I had recently watched a few that Luke Holland & Jason Richardson have done together and thought it would be very cool to do a full band play through. We were originally planning on doing another lyric video for “Day One” but the idea fit nicely with this track because of all the great individual parts. We want our friends and fans out there, who may not always have a chance to catch ‘Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy’ live, see us play and get a feel for what we do as musicians.” – Adrian Pain

Twittter – @AdrianPain @TheDeadSexyAbout:In 2010, vocalist and songwriter Adrian Pain endured events that would have left most men shattered and broken. Unwilling to take prescribed medications for his severe depression, he found inner strength in the form of the lyrics and music that sprang from his suffering. Together with his son and drummer Ethan Clark, formed a new family in the shape of their band, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy. Adrian describes their music as “torment and triumph, sonic seduction.” They have transcended their initial influences of Deftones, Alexisonfire, and Of Mice & Men, to a genre of metal they have given a name of its own. “We like to call what we do ‘Allcore’ … To break it down as far as metal sub-genres go, I think what best describes us would be a blend of Progressive & Nu-metal, with Post-Hardcore & Metalcore …or NuMetalcore if you’d like!”
Just as they deliver shock and awe on record, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy‘s live performance is a constant energy exchange. Their sets have a life of their own. One minute the whole room can be bouncing, the next there may be a pit, or there can be a complete hush over the crowd while they catch their breath and listen intently as the band engages them and the fans interact back with them. This showmanship has lead Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy to blow up the Toronto music scene, headlining major clubs such as Sound Academy, Virgin Mobile Mod Club, Hard Rock Café for Hard Rock Rising, Bovine Sex Club, The Rivoli, Lee’s Palace, and The Horseshoe Tavern along with locally supporting touring bands such as Mushroomhead, Wednesday 13, Eyes Set To Kill, Anvil, Killer Dwarfs, Sid Wilson / Slipknot After Party, Die Mannequin, Carol Pope, Sumo Cyco, Dance Laurie Dance, Castle and more. The band has also taken a foot hold of the Southern Ontario touring circuit, performing in cities surrounding the greater Toronto area and festivals such as the Ottawa Field Fest, Landmark Events, Canadian Music Week, Kitchener Music Festival to name a few.

“Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy is Toronto and Canada’s very own Post-Hardcore / Nu Metal Hybrid; a band that melds every splintered off sub-genre you can imagine into one, stand alone, Rock sound. This is sonic seduction delivered with a serrated edge image. Sounds Like: Alexisonfire in dream” – The Scene Magazine
“Toronto, Ontario all-core rockers Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy were so far ahead of their own game with Night School that I have a hard time keeping the volume turned down much below blow-my-fucking-eardrums-out every and anytime I listen! For those of you who think rock n roll is dead, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy would like to have a talk with you!” – My Indie Music Blog – Top Indie Albums/EPs of 2014
“Just treated my ears to The Dead Sexy’s Picture Day at Night School and it was exactly that, a true treat! Get this album, you’ll be delighted you did!… It’s just out n out sexy!” – TheRockAsylum
