“This is not an album just for shredders, it’s for anyone who wants an album of great metal that will get your head banging and wear your air guitar out.” – The Ripple  Effect

“Burstfire solos, frantic time signatures, complicated riffing and the like are all signposts of an artist who wants to see how far he can go. Unsurprisingly, this ambition pays off. The release could stand on its own as proof that Matt could play alongside the world’s greatest in shred guitar.” – Prog Sphere Magazine, February 2017

“The progressive metal genre never ceases to provide scores of insanely skilled guitar-slingers, and Vancouver’s Matt Chanway can now be recognized as another mind-blowing practitioner of the style.” – Guitar.com

“Ferocious, fast, and fucking awesome, Matt Chanway indeed has a scintillating skill that surely many would aspire to. His compositions are interesting, invigorating, intense, and inspiring: everything instrumental prog metal should be.” – Swept Media

“The guitar god’s name may not be familiar quite yet, but based on this display, it’s evident that Chanway is going to become one of the most recognized modern axe slingers. I dare you to take a listen to this record and not be in awe at the speed, precision, and cohesive spark that carries the record through.” – Lords of Dogwood”

“Released Christmas Day, Matt Chanway’s eponymous solo album is a showcase for his virtuosic guitar playing and intricate song crafting. The six song album is decidedly modern, never resting on its laurels however from time to time, echoes from those pioneers of thrash metal will sear through, keeping the album packed with adrenaline. Produced with the help of drum programmer Jacob Craner and bassist/engineer Stuart Hidalgo, this album will leave you wondering why you ever needed the barking and screeching of a vocalist in the first place.” – Music-News.com

“This is not an album just for shredders, it’s for anyone who wants an album of great metal that will get your head banging and wear your air guitar out.” -The Ripple Effect

Guitar virtuoso Matt Chanway has made a name for himself with well-regarded Canadian death/thrash metal band Assimilation.

Last December Chanway unleashed his self-titled solo debut album: a sonic masterpiece that  merges the old and new school. Razor sharp riffs meld with soaring solos; progression with power! Inspired by the likes of George Lynch and Jeff Loomis, Chanway (who has a Diploma in Guitar performance from the University of West London), is the ideal guitar hero for the 21st century!

One of the hardest working too!  Not content to rest on his laurels, Chanway is preparing to enter the studio with a brand new line-up to record a new EP, for release in early 2018.

Describing his sound as “melodic, relentless, energetic progressive metal” and influenced by the likes of Nevermore, Circus Maximus, Tony Macalpine, Aghora and Revocation, Chanway explains that “initially this music was written for a progressive metal project called Chancellor in 2011. After leaving that band, I gradually morphed the tracks into instrumental tunes.”

Chanway reveals his writing process is always honest and organic. “I write all of the guitar parts, generally starting from one theme or motif and just continually building upon it, to create a flowing cohesive piece. Never forcing or rushing anything for the sake of releasing new music. The guitar themes are authentic, the riffs are catchy and addictive.”

This is no studio project, Chanway is looking forward to playing his album live, promising “a very authentic recreation of some very challenging music, of course instrumental music is always a different ballgame in a live context. People tend to hone in on the guitar a lot more, and the unique voice it can bring as the band leader!”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 28, 2017

For fans of Gojira, Sikth, Mehsuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me

NoCleanSinging Premiere SLAGDUSTER’s ‘Mother’s Milk’; New Album ‘Deadweight’ Out May 5th

Isolation has most certainly bred inspiration in the shape of SLAGDUSTER. Hailing from Grand Forks, B.C, the band is name after a slang term local to their area for a piece of machinery that was used in the mines over a hundred years ago.

“We are the only four musicians in our small town driven to form a progressive metal band.” says vocalist Shane Sherman.

Inspired by such giants as Goijira. Sikth, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me, SLAGDUSTER offer a progressive, groovy, creative, unique and heavy sound.

It’s been a few years since their debut album ‘Nature.Humanity.Machine’ and SLAGDUSTER is ready to unleash their follow up ‘Deadweight’ due out on May 5th, 2017.

“Naturally our sound has come a long way since our debut release in 2010. The music is more complex, and much more developed, still heavy, but even more groove based. Listeners can expect to be challenged by focusing on the compositions, or lost in the musical landscape.” says vocalist Shane Sherman.

Having released their first single ‘Peeping Ron’ a few weeks ago (listen here), the band is ready to share with fans their next track ‘Mother’s Milk’ premiered exclusively on NoCleanSinging.com.

The band comments:

“”Mother’s Milk” is one of the more structured arrangements on the new album. We like some of the riffs so much that we couldn’t avoid bringing them back a couple times. It starts off with a strong driving march feel, before picking up speed and racing around hairpin corners, drifting effortlessly while navigating multiple sonic terrains smoothly from start to finish. Lyrically, the message focuses on a downward spiral of dependence and desperation, characterized within a story about an unhealthy mother/son relationship, a dark contrast to the song’s upbeat tempo.”

Listen to ‘Mother’s Milk’ by visiting the following link: http://www.nocleansinging.com/2017/03/28/an-ncs-premiere-slagduster-mothers-milk/

Like the ancient machine they are named after, SLAGDUSTER work hard to draw art from base material, they’re sound is meticulous and lengthy. All nine of tracks on ‘Deadweight’ have been very slowly and carefully crafted over the years. No songs were scrapped; all were completely revamped continuously for years. SLAGDUSTER put way more effort into collaborative song writing, which has significantly advanced their original sound. Each track contains a variety of things, ranging from ripping riffs and tremolo melodies to soft transitional parts and psychedelic interludes on top of constant heaviness and groove.

Of course, these songs are transformed in SLAGDUSTER’s live show, which vocalist Shane Sherman describes as “high energy, bordering on ridiculous, with offensive banter and annoying antics from an attention hungry front man. Well executed yet fun and light-hearted performances perfected over years of touring.”

“witness their antics and groove metal.” – Beatroute (Live review Armstrong Metalfest 2016)

“this is one seriously cool album — a collection of inventive, head-spinning songs played by four extremely talented musicians.” – No Clean Singing (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

“Although Slagduster’s music thrives on instrumental variation on themes within each song, with dynamic tempos and even occasional changes in time signature, the songs remain anchored to driving rhythms that organize the jumping, darting complexity of the music.”– No Clean Singing (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

“This release is oddly appealing, intriguing, a little different and undeniably catchy.
Step outside your comfort zone and give this diverse chunk of metal a spin you may well be surprised as was I. Definite groove, unpredictable melodies all in a style that’s wholly enjoyable.” – Thy Demons Be Scribblin (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

WOODHAWK Announce “Vagabonds of The Western Gig Tour” (BC/AB/SK/MB) And Riff-tastic Debut LP “Beyond The Sun” Out April 7th

New Video “The High Priest”

Slathered in rock and roll riffs and dealing with a case of wanderlust, Calgary’s rock revival heroes WOODHAWK set out to unleash their debut full-length ‘Beyond The Sun’ paired with dates across Western Canada. The riff wizards just released a video for their single ‘The High Priest’, which showcases their lyricism and fanaticism for musical perfection. Lyrically the song questions individual power and how people can either use it for good or evil.

Their album ‘Beyond The Sun’ is produced by the band with Jesse Gander (Bison, Japandroids) and is slated for release April 7, 2017. Pre-order of Vinyl, CD or Digital with an instant download of the first single ‘The High Priest’ available via their bandcamp at https://woodhawk.bandcamp.com.

So to be in Vancouver and recording with someone who we truly admire, was something that we feel is reflected in the album.” says vocalist / guitarist.

Vancouver Prog Virtuosos OMNISIGHT Posts Live Video ‘Shift The Paradigm’ Filmed By Blackroom Films

New EP ‘Power of One’ Out Now!

Vancouver progressive virtuosos OmnisighT teamed up with Blackroom Films to release a new live video for their track “Shift The Paradigm” off their new EP “The Power of One” released in January of this year. The video was shot during their EP release party on March 11th at The Astoria in Vancouver, BC.

“”Shift The Paradigm” is definitely a track that features everything OmnisighT’s known for: Extreme musicianship, big vocal hooks and great grooves. I was having some technical difficulties at the beginning of the song, but the show must go on! I’ve always liked music videos that show the realism of live performance, so I think it’s pretty cool. It was awesome to debut the new material and shred it up live!” says guitarist Blake Rurik.

Watch the live video of ‘Shift The Paradigm’ at https://youtu.be/Mz7qVujQwYc

omnisight - shift the paradigm - vancouver bc (2017)

The band’s next Vancouver performance will be on May 11th at Pat’s Pub & Brewhouse w/ Assimilation and Gatekeeper. Full details can be found here.

OmnisighT‘s ‘Power of One’ is the latest offering to showcase their highly regarded musicianship and finely wrought song-craft. ‘Power of One’ as a whole is a musical journey with a story concept to question the status quo and stand up against the oppression plus deceptions of the ruling class.

Drummer Chris Warunki comments on the release:

“”The Power Of One” is the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. Guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists will all have something in-store for them here with this EP. We are excited to get this out to the prog/rock/metal masses both musically and lyrically. Speaking of lyrically, the album will come with a PDF booklet exclusive to our Bandcamp supporters. We took a “more is more” approach with this one and it will be a real challenge, but a welcome challenge; to take it to the stage. A local Vancouver EP release party/show is in the works and TBA. We want to keep the musicianship in the music, that has been our agenda since day one!”

‘Power of One’ is now streaming along with CD and digital download at https://omnisight.bandcamp.com/album/the-power-of-one

Also available on iTunes, Spotify, and all other major online retailers.

Show Dates:
May 11 – Pat’s Pub & Brewhouse – Vancouver, BC w/ Assimilation, Gatekeeper

1. Shift The Paradigm (5:24)
2. Resistance (4:51)
3. Seven Sisters (6:32)
4. Fall of The Empire (7:04)
5. Power of One (7:11)
EP Length: 31:04

About:
Known for their formidable musicianship, virtuosic guitar solos and powerful songs, OmnisighT is masterfully blurring the lines between melodic hard rock and progressive metal. Beginning as collaboration between vocalist/guitarist Raj Krishna and drummer Chris Warunki, they created the impressive ‘Path’ debut album in 2012. Their live line-up was consolidated with the addition of Dave Shannon on bass and guitarist Blake Rurik. ‘Path’ was followed up by the 2013 ‘Wave Particle’ EP.

Like all truly visionary musicians, band co-founder Raj was driven to create unique music. “I’ve been writing and singing songs since I was a little kid. We never seemed to hear heavy prog music that had shredding and hooks at the same time. It always seems you get one or the other….Having technical musicianship with good song-writing, shredding licks, and big hooks was the whole idea.”

Raj sums up OmnisighT’s music thusly: ‘Proggy, hooky, shredding, sad, and powerful!’

While Raj is justifiably proud of OmnisighT’s recorded output, he sees the importance of performance. ‘Live is where the band really shines! We put on a show, running around smiling and shredding. The band plays with more intensity…we often give the headliners a run for their money.’

“The depth of talent in Canada often surprises us. Here is another superb band to add to the list. It remains to be seen how far “The Power Of One” takes OmnisighT. But one thing is for sure, it is an EP of which they can be incredibly proud.” – Maximum Volume Music

“If you’re going to attempt this sort of thing, you’d better have chops. Fortunately, (OmnisighT) have ’em, and how.” – Georgia Straight

“Their stage presence and technique is out of this world…I can safely say that the only guitarists I’ve seen live that instilled the same sort of awe in me as Raj Krishna were Jeff Loomis and John Petrucci himself.” – Prog Sphere

“great songwriting, fantastic lead guitar work…immediately on the first track, the intro “String Theory,” we are greeted by some immense guitar skills. Seriously, these guys are fucking fantastic.” – The Monolith

“deliciously retro, Zappa-meets-Malmsteen solos with at least one toe in the land of jazzy improv… guitar fiends should rush to check them out.” – Georgia Straight

“I have never been more impressed with a band that I had zero knowledge about. These guys play like they’ve been playing together since birth and clearly love what they do at a cellular level.” – Metal Titans

These Canadian doomsters may have a penchant for blistering fuzz-laden riffs, but there’s just as much focus on this, their second album, on atmospherics. Post-metal-influenced sonics are integral from the opening moments of the album, and remain throughout….Longhouse are to be commended for one thing, it’s the skill with which they blend the elements of their sound to provide a full-length that is as primitive as it is sinister.
