0 Five Magics Music – Malacoda – Ritualis Aeterna
The style of “Ritualis Aeterna” is quite unique, Malacoda have found a way to blend the styles of old school Heavy Metal mixed with some Horror tropes into the instrumentals and the use of the keys really helps to push your emotions in the direction the story is trying to make you feel. The real draw here is the vocal style of Lucas Di Mascio, the beautiful blend of haunting Power Metal vocals, almost Manson-style Industrial yells and of course the terrifying Black Metal vocals makes for a very unique experience.

“Flawless vocal interplay, melodic hooks that jump off the record and guitar-driven breakdowns.” – Get Exposed Music
“The vocal aesthetic throughout is often stunning, as showcased on opener ‘Listen Close And You Hear The Ocean’” – Get Exposed Music
“A band born to succeed thanks to positive ideas and a prodigious sound.” – Loudlight News
Closer To Found bring melody, heart, and intellect to their music; their dual vocal approach gives an individual edge to their sound which transcends their influences of Bring Me The Horizon, Issues, Norma Jean, Vanna, and Underoath, which they describe as “heavy, groove-driven metalcore.”
Co-vocalist Lawrence Leylekian explains the band’s name represents “the human struggle to find one’s self. The name was formed to represent how the songs are catalogued moments of the ups-and-downs throughout that journey.”
Lawrence sees Closer To Found’s debut as a serious statement of the band’s intent. “’Always Just As Lost’ uses heavy groove-driven riffs and timely uplifting choruses to truly convey the struggle, which takes place within the lyrics themselves, and should be received as a testament to the diversity that the metalcore genre has to offer.”
Closer To Found are a band brave enough to gaze into the abyss that is the reality that surrounds us. “The lyrics are generally the outcome of trying to relieve stress or turmoil. They are inspired by the daily negativity that we are all bombarded with, and attempt to keep the mind on a positive track…The album as a whole is a journey one finds themselves embarking on as their realize their problems, what it takes to fix them; and the various pitfalls, which can occur along the said journey.”
Closer To Found see their relationship with their fans as a close one. “We are always looking to bring the listener on the cathartic experience that the music is offering. ‘Listen Close And You Hear The Ocean’ submerges the listener into the positive mindset of realizing what it takes to accomplish your goals and make yourself truly happy….Close To Found is proud of their commitment towards an energetic and honest performance, which is backed by a clean and tight sound.”

Smashing through the Gates of Hell like a rabid cross between Entombed circa- ‘Wolverine Blues’ and Discharge circa- ‘Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing’, Sigil inject the venom into their death metal, inspired by Entombed, Dismember, Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, and Entrails, vocalist/guitarist Alex Citrone describes Sigil’s sound as “crusty, raw, crushing, D-beat death metal!” Sigil will release their debut album ‘Kingdom of the Grave’ on April 7th via the splendidly-named Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.
To Alex, his band’s name is most significant. “A sigil is a magic symbol that one creates, which represents an intent or desire. I chose the name because I like the idea that someone can focus their ambitions through ritual.”
Alex is confident Sigil’s music will be well received. “I think that fans of the old school will be psyched on this record the most. Fans of metal and punk in general will find something to love in it as well…I wrote the music I wanted to hear. Tradition is something a lot of people are starving for. That’s the place we’re coming from…On this record, I had most of the songs written before getting the band really started. Everyone else came in and added their own little touches to it.”
One approach that makes Sigil different to many death metal bands is their lyrics. “They came from a deeply personal place and one that’s curious of mysticism, the occult and the dystopian direction our society is going. The themes match the intensity of the music itself…”
Alex sums up Sigil’s debut album thusly: “’Kingdom of the Grave’ is pure raw death metal with an explosive energy to it. It has themes of the occult, suicide, police brutality, and a dystopian future. Fans of the old, and new school, will find something to love.”
CD and digital pre-order for ‘Kingdom of The Grave’ will be available from Horror Pain Gore Death Productions as of March 6th and officially available on April 7th.
