0 Five Magics Music – Malacoda – Ritualis Aeterna

  • March 6, 2017

  • · Malacoda

The style of “Ritualis Aeterna” is quite unique, Malacoda have found a way to blend the styles of old school Heavy Metal mixed with some Horror tropes into the instrumentals and the use of the keys really helps to push your emotions in the direction the story is trying to make you feel. The real draw here is the vocal style of Lucas Di Mascio, the beautiful blend of haunting Power Metal vocals, almost Manson-style Industrial yells and of course the terrifying Black Metal vocals makes for a very unique experience.

Closer To Found bring melody, heart, and intellect to their music; their dual vocal approach gives an individual edge to their sound which transcends their influences of Bring Me The Horizon, Issues, Norma Jean, Vanna, and Underoath, which they describe as “heavy, groove-driven metalcore.”

Co-vocalist Lawrence Leylekian explains the band’s name represents “the human struggle to find one’s self. The name was formed to represent how the songs are catalogued moments of the ups-and-downs throughout that journey.”

Lawrence sees Closer To Found’s debut as a serious statement of the band’s intent. “’Always Just As Lost’ uses heavy groove-driven riffs and timely uplifting choruses to truly convey the struggle, which takes place within the lyrics themselves, and should be received as a testament to the diversity that the metalcore genre has to offer.”

Closer To Found are a band brave enough to gaze into the abyss that is the reality that surrounds us. “The lyrics are generally the outcome of trying to relieve stress or turmoil. They are inspired by the daily negativity that we are all bombarded with, and attempt to keep the mind on a positive track…The album as a whole is a journey one finds themselves embarking on as their realize their problems, what it takes to fix them; and the various pitfalls, which can occur along the said journey.”

Closer To Found see their relationship with their fans as a close one. “We are always looking to bring the listener on the cathartic experience that the music is offering. ‘Listen Close And You Hear The Ocean’ submerges the listener into the positive mindset of realizing what it takes to accomplish your goals and make yourself truly happy….Close To Found is proud of their commitment towards an energetic and honest performance, which is backed by a clean and tight sound.”

Austin Death Metallers SIGIL Unleash Title Track ‘Kingdom of The Grave’ From Debut Album

Out April 7th via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions have signed Austin Texas’ crusty death metal destroyers SIGIL and are set to release their new album entitled “Kingdom Of The Grave” April 7th on CD and Digital formats.

SIGIL join the Horror Pain Gore Death Productions roster with their explosive debut full length “Kingdom Of The Grave”. Hailing from Austin Texas, SIGIL successfully blend classic Swedish death metal with American crust resulting in catchy, crushing chaos. Keeping true to the old school faith, “Kingdom Of The Grave” is unrelenting in its Death Metal attack, which also incorporates raw D-beat aggression complimented by slashing solo’s and throat-ripping vocals. For fans of Black Breath, Carnage, Dismember, Entombed, Entrails, Fatalist, Fleshcrawl, Gatecreeper, Grave, His Hero Is Gone, Nihilist and Tragedy

Vocalist / guitarist Alex Citrone comments on the album:

“Kingdom of the Grave” is pure, raw death metal with an explosive energy to it. It has themes of the occult, suicide, police brutality and a dystopian future. Fans of the old and new school will find something to love.”

As the success of Royal Thunder and Slaves has amply proved, the time of the two-piece piece band is upon us! Inspired by Local H, Shellac, Brand New, Refused, and Death From Above 1979, Cope consists of Mickey Hayward on drums and Tyson Wiebe on guitars and vocals. It’s all about the power of two and Cope is truly powerful. Some of the best creative work has been the result of collaboration between two people, with artistic minds refining and exchanging ideas, with the fluidity and flexibility of the pair creating something truly special.  Hayward describes Cope as, “loud, thoughtful, noisy, calm, unpredictable.”
Cope came into being in an organic fashion.
“Tyson and I have been friends and collaborators over the past 8 years. A two-piece was always something in reach because of our history of playing together but finally came to be during an extended downtime of our other projects.” says Hayward.

The first fruits of Cope’s creativity will appear on vinyl, cassette and digital download on April 21, 2017 via their indie label Norwegian Blue Records as an introduction to give listeners a sonic interpretation of what the band is. The EP was engineered live off the floor at Norwegian Blue Studio in Lethbridge, Alberta under the watchful eye of Chris Lipinski (Atomicos, Lustre Creame) and Q (Supervoid, Stellar Radio Choir). The EP was mixed by Jesse Northey (The Betrayers, Diamond Mind) and mastered by KRAMER (Gwar, Galaxie 500).
There is much more music to come from Cope. The three tracks on the EP are from Cope’s first writing sessions and they are a strong representation of what the band sounds like. They have more material that they play live and are constantly writing as they plan for a full-length to be released later this year.
Live Cope adds another dimension to their music. They often play a show like a jam session, even though their songs are all arranged and complete, Cope aren’t afraid to let them go and turn them into something weird and new when they play them live.
Cope’s self-titled debut will be available on vinyl, cassette and digital download via Norwegian Blue Records at the following link here as of April 21st.

Smashing through the Gates of Hell like a rabid cross between Entombed circa- ‘Wolverine Blues’ and Discharge circa- ‘Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing’,  Sigil inject the venom into their death metal,  inspired by  Entombed, Dismember, Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, and Entrails, vocalist/guitarist Alex Citrone describes Sigil’s sound as “crusty, raw, crushing, D-beat death metal!” Sigil will release their debut album ‘Kingdom of the Grave’ on April 7th via the splendidly-named Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.

To Alex, his band’s name is most significant. “A sigil is a magic symbol that one creates, which represents an intent or desire. I chose the name because I like the idea that someone can focus their ambitions through ritual.”

Alex is confident Sigil’s music will be well received. “I think that fans of the old school will be psyched on this record the most. Fans of metal and punk in general will find something to love in it as well…I wrote the music I wanted to hear. Tradition is something a lot of people are starving for. That’s the place we’re coming from…On this record, I had most of the songs written before getting the band really started. Everyone else came in and added their own little touches to it.”

One approach that makes Sigil different to many death metal bands is their lyrics. “They came from a deeply personal place and one that’s curious of mysticism, the occult and the dystopian direction our society is going. The themes match the intensity of the music itself…”

Alex sums up Sigil’s debut album thusly: “’Kingdom of the Grave’ is pure raw death metal with an explosive energy to it. It has themes of the occult, suicide, police brutality, and a dystopian future. Fans of the old, and new school, will find something to love.”

CD and digital pre-order for ‘Kingdom of The Grave’ will be available from Horror Pain Gore Death Productions as of March 6th and officially available on April 7th.
