METAL BATTLE CANADA SHALL BE PAUSING FOR 2017.. BACK IN 2018!

As you know the Wacken Metal Battle is a worldwide event. Each year Wacken allocates 28 slots at W.O.A. for the Metal Battle winners whom represent 28 countries across the globe.

Due to the increasing number of new countries who join the Metal Battle each year, some countries are asked to pause for a year to give the chance to other countries to participate.

That time has come for Canada. After a very strong 4 years in a row, yielding two 1st place winners and one 2nd place, Canada will be pausing for 2017. But do not fret, we shall be back and better than ever in 2018!

In the meantime, get your ass to WACKEN anyway because it’s gonna be a great one!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC –  September  2016

VoxxPromotions: Facebook

——————————————-

Voxx Promotions is proud to announce it will be hosting the Calgary Nov 16th and Edmonton November 17th show dates for Steve Grimmett’s GRIM REAPER ‘Walking In Shadows Tour’ in support of their long awaited 4th album ‘Walking In The Shadows’ released on September 23rd via Dissonance Productions.

The revamped version of the cult ’80s British metal act led by singer Steve Grimmett returns to Alberta after first performing at Farmegeddon Open Air in 2015 in Ryley, AB.

“Walking In The Shadows” is GRIM REAPER’s first new recording since 1987’s “Rock You To Hell”.

Grimmett stated about the effort: “I am tremendously proud of the album. It has taken a long time because it has been fraught with problems, but we have ended up with the best thing I have done in decades. We’re all looking forward to bring it to the fans and excited to be doing a world tour, starting straight after its release, and carrying on until 2017.”
Surrounding himself with an all-new band, Grimmett recently completed a 22-date North American tour. The trek included stops in New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Austin. Due to its success, the band recently announced a planned return in the autumn to support the new album after release.
Original GRIM REAPER guitarist Nick Bowcott joined STEVE GRIMMETT’S GRIM REAPER on stage on March 25 at 4 D’s Bar & Grill in Fort Wayne, Indiana to perform several of the band’s classic songs.
Bowcott previously played with STEVE GRIMMETT’S GRIM REAPER in 2014, marking the first time Steve and Nick appeared on stage together in more than 25 years.
STEVE GRIMMETT’S GRIM REAPER is:
Steve Grimmett – Vocals
In Nash – Guitar
Chaz Grimaldi – Bass
Paul White – Drums
GRIM REAPER’s debut album, “See You In Hell”, was released in 1984 and was distributed worldwide through RCA. A successful world tour in support of the album included an appearance at Texxas Jam in front of over 20,000 people. The band’s 1985 follow-up, “Fear No Evil”, showed improvement on the production front and also enjoyed moderate success in both the United States and Europe.
Ebony Records delayed the release of the band’s third album, “Rock You to Hell”, by almost two years. The LP eventually arrived directly through RCA in 1987.
The back catalog from GRIM REAPER was reissued in Japan in October 2008 via RCA/BMG.

“If you want an album that is likely to show the future of Extreme Metal, look no further than this one. Taking in elements of what made bands like Death and Carcass so great but having a much updated formula in terms of cleaner production and more expanse into the world of Progressive Music, little more can be said for this band. If Bloodstock had a new and upcoming band on the main stage in several years it would have to be Krepitus and this is paramount to their talent overall.” – Musicology UK

“Today is one of those rare honors that I have the privilege to share an up-and-coming band with the world that I know will blow every metal fan away and change the metal landscape.  Krepitus from Calgary, Canada is releasing their debut LP this November and it is everything you expect a great metal band to be.  The Eyes of the Soulless is a dirty meat-grinder of an album that satisfies every moment from beginning to end.” – Hard Attack Mag

“These eight songs are all excellent, with each having a unique identity. Songs morph from riff-based monsters to soaring 80s solos and melodic interplay. It’s impossible not to break out the invisible oranges when hearing the album, as Krepitus really nail the spirit of metal, old and new, with this excellent album… one of the best extreme metal debuts I’ve heard in a while.” – New Noise Mag

“They take a somewhat different slant on Death/Thrash Metal, cleverly mixing subtle technical riffs and aggressive rasping vocals then blending traditional elements with a modern slant along with tight melodies and heavy rhythms and the result is both crushing and engaging.” – Metal Talk

“A death/thrash metal act from Calgary, Canada, Krepitusshreds ‘The Eyes of the Soulless‘ powerfully with fierce devotion and angry attitude.” – Kultur 666

“A ferocious blend of modern thrash and old-school death metal, Krepitus are as distinctly melodic as they are uniformly savage, offering a modern metal approach to time honoured structures.” – Worship Metal

“a crushing album…I love the raw sound and just how rough it all sounds, it’s like they have taken Krepitus to a boiler room, not fed them for a month and told the band to get as angry as fucking possible…I see big things for the band and would love to see them live.” – RocknReel Reviews

“Krepitus navigate the darkness of the human soul. Tying together tradition and innovation, Krepitus’s tight melodies and heavy rhythms provide a rousing respite from modern contrivance. Victors of the Round One of Wacken Battle Calgary, the exhilaration they bring to the stage is impressively genuine, unleashing their inner demons without a whiff of hesitation or self-doubt.” – Christine Leonard, Beatroute Magazine

“So for 45 plus minutes I was in tune with what Krepitus has going on and really intrigued with them. Best part is I can’t accurately classify them ha! They are basically death metal, droning at times and very aggressive at others! Lots of thrash stuff going on throughout and some seriously tricky riffs. Every track is very memorable and each has its own identity which seems fairly rare anymore!” – Merchants of Air

“Krepitus is another killer hard and heavy band from Canada. The metal scene in Canada is just bursting at the seams now days. Wow these guys have hit a nerve with their awesome style of death/thrash metal. They have a great combination on old school thrash like Sodom and technical death metal like Arch Enemy and Morbid Angel.” – The Dirty Room

Bone-crushing Calgary four-piece KREPITUS are challenging the relationship between death and thrash metal with their trademark downtrodden technical riffs and fierce agressive vocals. They have been constantly playing with opposing elements and creating a stable compound of death-fused thrash since their beginnings in 2013.

The group is comprised of Teran Wyer performing double duty on guitar and vocals; a tortured soul bound to his music. Matt Van Wezel is the second sniper, hitting each guitar note with precision and complementing the already harmonious riffs. Curtis Beardy pulls the tone down to the depths of hell with his steady hand and low register bass riffs. Finally, Harley “Rage” D’orazio kicks everything into overdrive possessed by grinding rhythms and accenting every solo on his drum kit.

Each member stands like a pillar; strong and sure in their own sound, but all standing to support the structure that is Krepitus. They have since performed with acts like Expain, Depths of Hatred, and Aegaeon and have competed in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada while writing their debut album. They have since completed said album and are planning to release it Friday, November 25, 2016. Pre-orders can be made via their bandcamp at: https://krepitus.bandcamp.com/album/eyes-of-the-soulless

this album is an homage, a tribute, a salute and a handshake to classic heavy metal music of the 1980s and early 90s and is very well worth a listen.

This album is yet another step in the rise of Canadian metal, but also goes to show that while the west coast certainly knows how to rock, the east still has it on lock down. If you are fan of In Flames or perhaps Kalmah you should already have this album.

Definitely worth a listen!!!
