About:

Farmageddon Open- Air was conceived in 2012 by Tyson Travnik whom is recognized in the Alberta metal scene through sound engineering duties and promotional services. After noticing the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, Travnik wanted to re-create the intimate setting and host a festival with no internal borders in the Edmonton area.

After two very successful years, Farmageddon Open Air has proven to be one of the most prestigious metal open-air festivals in Canada with quality production that has been highly regarded by bands and patrons alike. The festival falls into a special category with Travnik setting goals of bringing in top-shelf bands that rarely, if ever play Canada. The costs of doing so are reflected in the ticket price with maximum attendance numbers not being something on the agenda. Keeping an intimate setting between the bands and their fans along with growth of the metal sub-culture to aid in promoting some of the hardest working bands in the country is at the forefront of Farmageddon’s priority.

Each year, the festival has hosted over 30 bands, with the request reaching as far as Europe and Asia. Farmageddon prides itself in only selecting the bands that the organizers feel have proven themselves worthy of the festival. This is not based on show attendance figures, but rather by judging the work ethic of the band throughout the previous year. With many new features and additions planned for Farmageddon 2015, organizers are pushing forward to double the attendance numbers from 2014.

The album is produced by Sacha Laskow (ex-Divinity, Every Hour Kills) plus mastered byJens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy) along with album artwork done by Colin Marks (Exodus, Scar Symmetry, Jeff Loomis).  ARBITRATOR is a project that began in late 2010 as the brainchild of Robert Kukla and officially debut in 2011 with the release “The Consummate Ascendancy” with former drummer Corey Chernesky. The new arsenal of ARBITRATOR features Robert Kukla on rhythm guitar, bass and vocals with drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted), Myles Malloy on lead guitar and Connor ORT Linning for programming.

“Indoctrination of Sacrilege is full of juicy riffs, and will easily quench any death metal fan’s thirst. It’s well written, catchy, and rewarding to revisit over time.” – Metal Made In Canada

“..a promising effort that sets the bar fairly high…melodic death metal that at times – and perhaps not surprisingly – echoes Soilwork at their feistiest, the grandiosity of Septicflesh or old Nocturnus and the blasphemous fury of Behemoth, with the blackened edges to boot. “Epic” is the word that perhaps best describes Sacrilege, as most of its six tracks are monsters… ” – Metal Rules

“These well crafted songs have an infectious groove to them, these riffs are punishing, the drums are precise and effective, the vocals are raw and full of anger and the soaring keyboards life the songs to new heights; they give the album a grandiose feel, full of ominous presence.” – Devils Gate Media

“With hard hitting, kick in the teeth death metal, Arbitrator gives a solid beat down full of hatred and ear-busting brutality in their song Stillborn Bastard of the Nazarene.” – The Indie Authority

“”The consummate ascendancy” is a fucken impressive first step and I wish the guy all the fucken best with his future endeavors. The talent is there, and obviously – so is the will.” – Global Domination

“…it quickly becomes clear that Arbitrator is more than just another death metal band. These guys are not afraid to put some experiments into their music and they still know via these two long, rather unusual songs how to make a decent impression.” – Lords of Metal

“Honestly, I’d love to hear more of this, so let’s hope Arbitrator can latch onto a label, fill out their line-up, and get working on a full-length follow-up to this very promising debut EP.” – Sea of Tranquility

British Columbia’s indie music scene darlings Mr. Goshness are releasing a live video of their song ‘Resolutions’ recorded by Josh McNair and Greg Weller at Tiger Mountain Music. Filming took place the night of their cd release party and captured their pleasant on stage demeanor. Kaliandra gracefully breaks up the song to pick up the pace and lead viewers deeper into the music. ‘Resolutions’ is all about timing used in combination with every element of the band (Keyboard, guitar, and vocals) to showcase the complexity of the song.

“Our album release party was an incredible night that none of us will ever forget, playing ‘Resolutions’ was a special part of the night as that song starts off a lot more intimate than our other songs.  This song can be quite challenging to play live so there was a lot of rehearsal time spent getting the song just right.” – Mark Tardif

The video can be seen here.

“Hold on to your balls, for Expain could be positioned as Canada’s next great metal export. Evidently going by their ferociously captivating debut album ‘Just The Tip’, the quintet slap together a masochistic mixture of blazing riffs, supersonic drumming, sexy solo’s and vocals so brutal it would make your last hangover as weak as Justin Bieber banging one out. Come on they mix jazz elements, that surely has to receive numerous acknowledgements, but also through the various sounds and lyric topics employed, this album is a party on it’s own” – Global Metal Apocalypse

“…the material on the album is certainly some of the most unique and entertaining music that I have encountered in a while…every single element, and every single moment on Just the Tip contains something unique for the listener to discover, and like the name of the album suggests, every subsequent listen to the album makes one realise that one has merely discovered just the tip of the iceberg with the whole host of things going on.” – Heavy Metal Tribune

“…this group takes various elements of their influences – which includes punk, jazz, classical, world, pop, and even country – and melds them into some serious stunning thrash metal.” – Pure Grain Audio

“For some parts it reminds me of the instrumental genius of latter Annihilator/Jeff Waters’ material…” – Brutalism

“a band built on displaying technical skills behind the instruments. A heavy and potent mixture of thrash and jazz metal, Vancouver, Canada’s Expain is hoping to become a staple in a genre built on technical skill and speed” – Under The Gun Review

“a perfect blend of the technical and melodic, combining together to create a sound that is incredibly unique and forthright. I have listened to the album several times now, and each time I find myself enjoying some new dimension to the sound, or some new aspect of the music. It just keeps getting better.” – Vancouver Metal

“In my metal induced coma, I am inclined to say this band should not be sniffed at or trifled with, they are some serious thrash metal impresarios… For Fans Of: Uber thrash with a touch of jazz.” – All About The Rock

“Wildly diverse band that combines elements of thrash, punk, tech metal and even some jazz with an off-the-wall comedic streak.” Prog NW Metal Zone

“It’s one of the finest independently released albums I’ve ever heard in my life. From the short intro track ‘Bacchus’ all the way to the perfect closer in ‘Eating A Beating Heart,’ there’s so many quality thrashers on the disc. ‘The King’ is a personal favorite of mine as the musicianship is ridiculously tight. ‘Aggressions Progressions’ has an absolutely beautiful dueling solo section and ‘Manatee’ has a sick bass solo. Overall it’s 11 tracks of pure thrash mayhem” – Broken Neck Radio

“The band comes racing out of the gate with three dementedly heavy fist-pumpers….a promising metal act that is well worth a listen.” – Discorder (E.P.E.P Review)

“a strong mixture of early Thrash and Crossover Thrash concepts, blending them with a Melodic Death Metal sound, and plenty of energetic aggression.” – Apochs Metal Review (E.P.E.P Review)

“Don’t leave your children alone with The Almighty Excruciating Pain” – Metal Sucks (E.P.E.P Review)

Progressive Metallers id. Offer FREE Download of EP Title Track ‘Sagittarius A’; EP Due Out Feb. 10th

FREE DOWNLOAD – Sagittarius A – http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/id-sagittarius-a-free-song-download

Track Listing – id. – Sagittarius A
1. The Greatest Secret Never Told (3:58)
2. Humanity’s Cry (5:36)
3. id.entity (6:01)
4. Sagittarius A (5:57)
EP Length: 21:34

Set to unleash their debut EP ‘Sagittarius A’ on February 10, 2015, Vancouver, BC’s id. is a multi-layered metal force with its progressive, heavy and catharsis songwriting inspired by Sigmund Freud’s theory on the levels of the human psyche. As they introduce their subconscious tendencies on their upcoming four track debut EP that touches on topics such as inner struggle, world views, self-awareness to what’s beyond in outer space. They are sharing with metal fans a FREE download of the EP title track ‘Sagittarius A’ on PureGrainAudio.com at the following link here.

With more songs in their arsenal for a full length to follow this EP and influenced by bands such as Opeth, Mastodon, Devin Townsend, Gojira, and Augury, id is sharing with metallers what’s to come as they push forward to put themselves on the map. Employing a style that is different compared to other progressive bands, id. transcend genres with a line up of Vancouver metal scene veterans that includes lyricist and vocalist Jason Pennington (Makaria), drummer Kris DeBoer (Grudge, Infernal Majesty, Artep), rhythm guitarist Tyson Araszewski (AutumnEx) and guitarist Alex Dubreuil (My Own Chaos) who also does bass on the EP.

Band Fact: The story behind the EP Title: ‘Sagittarius A’ is the name of the black hole in the center of our galaxy. The idea comes from a fundamental belief in a scientific world view, free of religious influence and tyranny. It outlines how people are susceptible to believe things without evidence if it appeals to their vanity, as opposed to being presented with evidence and being able to accept something that is inherently contradictory to their intuition.

– 30 –

“As hard hitting as Opeth and as guttural as you can be, while still maintaining the complexity of progressive music.” – DJ Vengeance, Midlands Metalheads Radio

“Progressive Metal band id. and their brand new EP, entitled Sagittarius A, which will take you on a relatively short but very interesting expedition through several music genres, from World Music to Death Metal. Longtime fans of Opeth, Gojira and Mastodon will quickly fall in love with id., while others might be positively surprised with the depth offered in the music by this Vancouver-based group.” – The Headbanging Moose

“it is metal at its most beautiful. Reminding me very much of Opeth, Sagittarius A is melodic and moving. There are emotional tempo and tone changes, particularly in the track Humanity’s Cry. I love that Saggitarius A takes you on an exciting, emotional journey with its dark melodies and heavy vocals. At just four tracks, it’s a short yet satisfying listen, leaving you feeling like you’ve completed a great journey with some wonderful music” – Metal Head Blog
