Montreal based solo rock musician Milo McMahon has confirmed he will be playing at this year’s Canadian Music Week taking place from May 1-10 in Toronto, ON. Showcase details will be announced at a later date.

“I used to live in Toronto and as a music fan, CMW was always written in bold on my calendar. To have the opportunity to hop on the other side of the fence and perform at the festival is a big honour. I’m preparing something special just for those dates and can’t wait to get down there.” comments McMahon.

McMahon recently announced he will be hitting the road at the beginning of March (dates listed below) in support of his latest EP ‘Gone Too Long’ released last October to follow up his first release of 2014, the self-produced debut album ‘Big City Hustle’.

“The last 12 months have been a whirlwind, and the reaction to Gone Too Long EP has been amazing. The live show is our bread and butter, so we’re really excited to get back on the road and bring these songs to life.” comments McMahon.

With his infectious stage presence, impressive guitar playing and powerful voice, McMahon has harvested a following of enthusiastic fans from across Canada with two releases in one year. His most recent, the three song EP ‘Gone Too Long’ was produced by Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals) and features performances by Joseph Yarmush of Suuns along with Lisa Iwanycki Moore of Blood & Glass. His debut album, ‘Big City Hustle’ released in March of 2014 explores the dichotomy of the struggle to make it as a successful musician in downtown Toronto along with his second life: that of a tree planter in the wilds of Northern Canada where he spent over two years living in a tent in the Canadian wilderness planting over one million trees.

The youngest of five, Milo was born at home in Dublin, Ireland but relocated to wintry Winnipeg, MB shortly after where he developed a love of all things Canadian: canoeing, hockey and rock n’ roll. Early memories of Guns n’ Roses on the living room hi-fi, Neil Young’s Harvest Moon on long car rides and later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers on repeat on his first Walkman have certainly left an impression on the 27-year-old singer/songwriter, whose refreshing brand of garage rock produces songs that are both musically innovative and lyrically engaging.

“I would have to say that you owe it to yourself to see Milo and his band. It is absolutely a must-see act if you love rock music and want to see an up-and-comer playing the style the way it should be played: with energy and integrity.” – Hot Soupe

“We can feel Milo’s talent in his music, and the energy that his band brings to the act. The vocalist and frontman Milo is definitely a talented singer – he has a very nice and soothing voice, with a wide vocal range. There is definitely a lot of potential to move up for this Montreal musician.” – (Live Review) – The Scene Mag

“The first track, “Gone Too Long”, is both melodic and catchy with some fairly awesome flute playing. The second track, “Come Get Me Eyes”, a little more rock than the first track, is equally as catchy. The guitar and bass, along with the lyrics, really stand out on this track. The last track, “Buyin’ a Truck”, is a fun song about missing somebody. I can see it being a good sing-along tune as well.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

“Big City Hustle is definitely one of the more interesting eclectic I’ve heard in a while…. It takes a lot of courage to make a concept album, especially to do one alone, and McMahon grabs the bull by the horns with full-force. This album shows the beginnings of a very promising musical career and should not be overlooked.” – The Scene Mag

About:

After being on hiatus since 2008, Fayne reformed in 2013 with a renewed hunger and dedication to the Canadian metal scene to deliver a metal sound coupled with melodic, attitude-fueled breakdowns to compliment their high energy performances full of positive vibes, and ridiculously powerful guitar solos. Heavily influenced by bands such as Counterparts, Mastodon, and Periphery, Fayne’s ‘The Queen of Kings’ features a special guest appearance by Misery Signals vocalist Karl Schubach on their track Nomad’s Land plus was produced by guitarist Alex Gonzalez with the help from Alan Douches of West West Side Music (Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Between the Buried and Me) for the final mastering. The EP is the follow up to their 2004 debut ‘You Took it All Away’ and 2006’s ‘Delivering The Final Blow’ that lead the band on multiple Canadian tours plus opening slots to support bands like Alexisonfire, Underoath, Hopesfall and Blessed By A Broken Heart.

“Fayne have unleashed a maelstrom of a fury in The Queen of Kings EP. Bracingly raw yet just as feverishly sculpted the five track metalcore fuelled encounter reasserts the Montreal quintet as a seriously compelling proposition. It is merciless and ravenous examination of the senses and a perpetual spark for the imagination to feed upon.” – Ring Master Reviews

“The Fayne heavy drum sound is similar to that of Slipknot. The vocal screams are like those of Hatebreed with the more melodic breaks of Redlight King’s vibe. The band is full of nonstop energy. The hooks from Alex and Nick are great to get the pulse going along with Carlo’s relentless percussion assault. Joseph shows his vocal range quite well on this release while Chris plays lights out on the bass tracks. It’s no surprise that they are a favorite of theValhalla Sound Circus after only one year. It’s a hint of great things to come from another good Canadian metal outfit.” – National Rock Review

“The Main Course for the night, Fayne, surely filled Our Hearts and Bellies with core-filled fist burgers and motivated serenading side salads!! Fayne is back and with a Vengeance: that’s for sure! The energy they created on stage powered their amps and reinforced the crowd. Surely Fayne has a message to spread! Thoughtful lyrical content brought us together, uplifting the crowd, spreading the power of oneness, and knocking down the walls of mind blocks that stand before us. And speaking of walls…the dense wall of sound created by the breakdowns surely raised a rumble of raised fists and energetic punters moshing heads.” – Montrealites (Live Review 2014)

“I was just impressed all around with how well these guys go together. Their chemistry on stage, musically, and physically is something I haven’t seen in a while.  Their music collides with an influence of Misery Signals meets Pantera. They are known for blending in sick guitar solos with heavier strums, melancholic/mean vocals and an insane amount of energy. When I mentioned throughout the day to a few friends I was checking these dudes out, I got a lot of “Those guys are awesome!” – clearly a good fan base as well. Congrats guys.” – (Live Review 2013) – Bucket List Music Reviews

“There is no doubt in my mind that Canada’s Fayne is a solid band, musically they’re very tight and heavy enough to make you crowd surf at one of their gigs.” – Explicitly Intense

” FAYNE have expressed all fury with “The Queen Of Kings”, packed into 5 small songs to make this short little EP. With raw flavors exposed in this collection, the quintet has created a monstrous noise…All in all the EP does mark a great return for FAYNE.” Metal Temple

“Fayne is back from their hiatus with a Fury of furious Screams, Hard Hitting skins and Heavy sculpted guitar leads and solos. With a silent but deadly approach Fayne slays into the album with the title track The Queen Of Kings.” – Kingston Music Reviews

“La recette est bien exploitée, tous les éléments du genre sont en place avec des guitares adipeuses qui chuintent lors de certains moments opportuns.” – Voir

About: The Old Brewery Mission Soothing homelessness. Solving homelessness.

Founded in 1889, The Old Brewery Mission is the largest resource for homeless men in Quebec and for homeless women in Canada. This non-profit organization provides a range of services that respond to the needs of Montreal’s homeless people as well as those at risk of becoming so, and endeavours to enable them to take control of their lives and assume their rightful place in the community. It is estimated that there are close to 20,000 homeless people in Montreal.

About: Blankfest Quebec is organized by Jon Asher, in collaboration with the Old Brewery Mission, and was launched after Jon read about his friend, New York City indie rock veteran Kenn Rowell of The Baghdaddios, who founded Blankfest in 1997 and has been organizing the annual blanket fundraiser in New York City since then.

Since its inception in NYC, Rowell estimates that Blank-Fest has collected over 10,000 total donations for the homeless, which have been distributed to the homeless in the New York City area and has inspired similar efforts in New Jersey, Manhattan and Nottingham, UK. Among the many distinguished artists who have performed at past international Blank-Fests are: Rothberg (EMI), Buddy Cage (Grateful Dead), Marc Rizzo (Soulfly) and Meg Griffin (Sirius Radio).

Out Today! Vancouver’s Progressive Metallers id. Release Debut EP ‘Sagittarius A’

EP Stream – Sagittarius A – https://idmusic9.bandcamp.com/album/sagittarius-a

Vancouver, BC’s id., a multi-layered metal force with its progressive, heavy and catharsis songwriting inspired by Sigmund Freud’s theory on the levels of the human psyche are proud to unleash their debut EP ‘Sagittarius A’, out today, Feb 10, 2015. The EP is an introduction of the band’s subconscious tendencies touching on topics such as inner struggle, world views, self-awareness to what’s beyond in outer space. With more songs in their arsenal for a full length to follow this EP and influenced by bands such as Opeth, Mastodon, Devin Townsend, Gojira, and Augury, id is sharing with metallers what’s to come as they push forward to put themselves on the map. Employing a style that is different compared to other progressive bands, id. transcend genres with a line up of Vancouver metal scene veterans that includes lyricist and vocalist Jason Pennington (Makaria), drummer Kris DeBoer (Grudge, Infernal Majesty, Artep), rhythm guitarist Tyson Araszewski (AutumnEx) and guitarist Alex Dubreuil (My Own Chaos) who also does bass on the EP.

The EP is now available for purchase at the following link here.

Vocalist Jason Pennington comments:

“We’re happy to share our debut EP with our new fans! Check it out it! It’ll make you explore the exposition of human emotion. It speaks of metaphors that interpret our actions. Enjoy \m/” comments vocalist Jason Pennington.

2. Humanity’s Cry (5:36)
3. id.entity (6:01)
4. Sagittarius A (5:57)

In additional news, id. will be performing their CD launch show later this week on February 14th for The Invisible Orange’s Anti-Valentine’s Day Massacre at Funky Winkerbeans in Vancouver, BC alongside Unbeheld, Harvest The Infection and Baryon. Band Fact: The story behind the EP Title: ‘Sagittarius A’ is the name of the black hole in the center of our galaxy. The idea comes from a fundamental belief in a scientific world view, free of religious influence and tyranny. It outlines how people are susceptible to believe things without evidence if it appeals to their vanity, as opposed to being presented with evidence and being able to accept something that is inherently contradictory to their intuition.

““As hard hitting as Opeth and as guttural as you can be, while still maintaining the complexity of progressive music.” – DJ Vengeance, Midlands Metalheads Radio

“Progressive Metal band id. and their brand new EP, entitled Sagittarius A, which will take you on a relatively short but very interesting expedition through several music genres, from World Music to Death Metal. Longtime fans of Opeth, Gojira and Mastodon will quickly fall in love with id., while others might be positively surprised with the depth offered in the music by this Vancouver-based group.” – The Headbanging Moose

“it is metal at its most beautiful. Reminding me very much of Opeth, Sagittarius A is melodic and moving. There are emotional tempo and tone changes, particularly in the track Humanity’s Cry. I love that Saggitarius A takes you on an exciting, emotional journey with its dark melodies and heavy vocals. At just four tracks, it’s a short yet satisfying listen, leaving you feeling like you’ve completed a great journey with some wonderful music” – Metal Head Blog

“This EP had me impressed.” – Canadian Beats
