About:

In 2007, Edmonton, AB underwent one of the most notable natural disasters in history. An earthquake split the city in two, and chaos ran amok through the streets.

Alas…such things are bound to happen when DISPLAY OF DECAY takes the stage. Handcrafted by Hell’s most elite demons, DISPLAY OF DECAY is noted for bringing a unique blend of old school death metal, blended with tinges of thrash and doom metal. The band has spread their infection across Western Canada over the years, sharing the stage alongside other local elite acts such as, Disciples of Power and Into Eternity.

After unleashing three well received indie releases, DISPLAY OF DECAY is currently gearing up for their next follow up “Outbreak of Infection”, an EP featuring five brutal tracks that includes an annihilating rendition of KISS’ ‘Black Diamond’.  Set to riot mosh pits officially August 26, 2014, DISPLAY OF DECAY is eagerly preparing to tour Western Canada in 2014 to promote their best work to date.

“Outbreak of Infection, a mid-paced slab of brutality in the vein of Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and Nile. Showing they wear their influences on their sleeves, this trio also sounds nothing like the aforementioned bands at times, their own sound gleaming vile from the pile of corpses they wear.” – Crown of Viserys

“This is a real listenable EP due to is crunchy drive and catchy rhythms. It is Brutal Death Metal but it has the kind of songs you could put in a zombie film for added tension and brutality…The guttural vocals are strong low and perfect for these tracks.  This is an EP you can throw in and listen to all five songs, the last of which is a Kiss cover Black Diamond.” – Blackened Horde

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music that Chimaira, Machine Head, and Hatebreed would be proud of, and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With three full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title,” “Sandwich,” and their holiday album, “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” – the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.

After a successful 2013 that saw these touring ninja warriors hit the road for multiple shows on the ‘Our Tour Can Beat Up Your Tour’, ‘Blow Your Fingers Off’ summer tour, their late summer dates with American Head Charge plus appearances at summer fests that included Rockapalooza, A2 Fest, Breast Fest Biker Bash, and Dirtfest.  The band finally took a break in last months of the year and held a successful crowd funding campaign (thank you video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSeQHqMCfJI), where they are now currently in studio recording their follow up to 2011’s ‘Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs In 3D’.

“‘Japetus is a very impressive first effort that should garner much praise and attention.” – Metal Observer

“This is an excellent three-track introduction to a very worthy band. On the title track and “Potsdam Glo,” the band show a talent for strong, original atmospheric doom.” – Hellbound

“Norilsk, named after Siberia’s most northern city, crank out some seriously heavy doom with a good pile of death metal and sludge swirled inside for an unhealthy dose of ear candy.”  – Crown of Viserys

“This is a great EP if you are into the sound of intense music that can pump you up but also do so in a relaxing way.” – Canadian Beats

“Forging a sound bred from intensive sludge and post metal, the band creates bait and presence which seduces as it savages to leave the listener grinning insanely as its predatory instincts sonically disembowel the senses. There have been a wealth of impressive first assaults from bands this year but Japetus stands head and shoulders above most with ease…With that full-length imminent, Norilsk has made the most powerful and exciting entrance of any one this year. Japetus is aural brilliance ensuring that anticipation has nostrils flaring for the album.” – Ring Master Reviews
“For a doom band Norilsk sounds quite interesting. Their influences are varied. From Thergothon through old My Dying Bride to Celtic Frost. Add a bit of sludge and atmospheric post metal and you get a pretty good picture of this band.” – Lords of Metal

1/3 doom, death metal, and sludge, Norilsk is a new duo from Gatineau, QC that includes Nicolas Miquelon (Damnus, The Great Russian Empire, ex-Kintra) and Nick Richer (Damnus, Doll, Outrage AD).

Drawing their inspirations and themes from Northern identity, isolation, and world demise, the band has named themselves after Siberia’s most northern city. Incorporating elements of sludge and post-metal along with influences from doom-death metal bands such as Thergothon, Saturnus, and early My Dying Bride, the band is unleashing a taste of what’s to come in their debut EP ‘Japetus’.

“Norilsk is definitely something I wanted to do for a long time” says Miquelon. “Revisiting old school influences with today’s perspective gave me the opportunity to exorcise the darkness within – and nothing seemed more appropriate as a breathing exercise than doom-death metal.”

Presented in a very limited CD edition and digital format, the Japetus EP is both an introduction to the band and a teaser to the bands future recordings. Clocking just under 20-minutes, the EP  includes one song “Japetus” from their forthcoming full length album, one alternate version “Potsdam Glo” and one Voivod cover song “Negatron”, which is exclusively only available on the CD.

The EP will be officially released on July 22, 2014 followed by a full length to be released and to be announced at a later date.

throne of vengeance - live evil

About: Bridging the gap between metal and rock with help from dual guitar harmonies, pounding drum lines and wide-ranging vocal harmonies, Calgary’s Throne of Vengeance released their EP ‘Live Evil’ on October 19, 2013 that echoes the band’s signature thrash-tinged rock.

“‘Live Evil’ is “a collection of songs based on our experiences in the last two years, covering everything from a close friend’s imprisonment for a victim-less crime to the realization of humanity’s demise to the contrast between good and evil and life and death,” says drummer Trevor Cobb.

“If there’s anything we would like people to take away from the record, it’s that you should be your own person, do what makes you happy, be aware of your world and be real. We have the power to control our own destiny. Together, we are more powerful than any world leader.”

Having shared the stage with numerous legends over the years, including Kill Devil Hill, 3 Inches Of Blood and Steven Pearcy of RATT, Throne of Vengeance is ready to take things to a whole new level with Live Evil. Are you ready for a major ‘bangover’?

UK TOUR ALERT: Video Game Rock Nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE Announce UK L.A.R.P. Tour (Live Action Rock Performance); New Animated Lyric Video ‘Here’s Y’

text tour dates

With only a few show dates left on their USA ‘Smells Like Freedom Tour’, Canadian video game rock nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE are proud to announce they will be touring the UK for their third time this coming August. Entitled the L.A.R.P. Tour (The Live Action Rock Performance Tour) the band will be performing three weeks of show dates across the UK in promotion of their new album ‘721835′ set for release on August 1st and recorded by fellow science-fiction aficionado Al Jacob (He is Legend, A Skylit Drive).

“We are so lucky to be able to tour internationally as an independent band from Canada. After everything we have learned on our last two tours of the UK, our friends and fans can expect this to see the most entertaining iteration of our live show yet.” – Ian Nichols

Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album ‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. Showcasing a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences, the album follows up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’ recorded and produced by Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) that was released via Blue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.
