Montreal’s Dark Century Announce New Release ‘Murder Motel’ Out April 18th; New Music Video ‘Kill The Crowd’

Kill The Crowd! Kill The Crowd! Kill The Crowd! is the constant chant you get from fans when Montreal’s aggressive, hilarious, heavy and bloody five-piece Dark Century take the stage and inject a party of trans fat, bacon and moshing fun times (see live video of bacon throwing). No wonder the band was one of the two finalists at the En Route To Heavy MTL Battle of the Bands in 2012, winning their spot to play on Canada’s largest metal fest along with sharing the stage over the years with such established acts as Aborted, Misery Index, Quo Vadis, Anonymus, Rose Funeral, Exhumed, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Goatwhore, Origin, The Faceless, Battlecross, Erimha, Fuck The Facts to name a few.

Welding death, thrash, grind and hardcore, Dark Century returns in 2014 with their sophomore album ‘Murder Motel’ to follow up 2009’s debut ‘Days of The Mosh’. Produced by one of Montreal’s most respected metal producers Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Mythosis, Erimha, The Agonist, Derelict, Neuraxis), ‘Murder Motel’ is 11 tracks of fury that attacks with vicious lyrics in both English and French, heavy speed demon guitars, pummelling drums accompanying by pounding bass force and ear grind wrenching screams.

“This CD is for the moshers; it grooves, it’s alive and it’s breathing bacon-breath in your face. The writing process for MURDER MOTEL was extensive and well thought-out, but this time we feel we’ve been able to spit out way more of what this band is all about. We are energy, violence and humour incarnate. So it’s right there, guitar solos now included!! Delivered in one package for the world to munch on cholesterol-filled foods while they listen to it.

Some previous subjects are revisited just as much as some new short stories have risen to give fresher flavors to our greasy art. Be ready to get pounded, blasted, shredded and pecked alive by zombie birds because our sophomore effort release is no serious matter. It’s f***ing hilarious!” comments vocalist Leather King.

The band released the first single and video ‘Kill The Crowd’, which can be viewed at the following link:

“Dark Century promises madness for moshers” – Here NB

“Très énergique, ca rentre au poste! Vous allez faire vendre pas mal de bières.” – Dan Mongrain – Voivod

“Really fuckin good good good!” – Jeff Waters – Annihilator

“Unpredictable and Dangerous” – Jason Rockman – Slaves on Dope / CHOM 97.7 FM

“Corrosif, pas de niaisage!” – Bang Bang Blog

“Really heavy set, amazing” – Mikey Heppner – Priestess

“Awesome crowd interraction” – Paul Ablaze – Blackguard

“They bring the fucken Party!” Jamie O’meara (music writer – Gazette)

Music is art and art is music! The Rising Few are not just the musicians, they are also all the filmmakers, photographers, designers, actors, directors that lend their talent to the artistic spectrum with their illustrations, paintings, designs, photography and film all under one thematic roof.

As the band prepares for the release of their debut album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ on March 25th, vocalist / front man Karim Terouz, an illustrator by trade is sharing with fans signed 12×12 high res illustrations he created for pre-orders of the album. ”As an illustrator myself, how can I not visually tackle the characters and themes I create for the songs…afterall it’s all storytelling, and the more you dwell in THE ART of your craft, the more you are at peace with the questions that surround it…you know what they say, The Devil’s in the Details !” says Karim Terouz.

About: The Rising Few was born when professional illustrator Karim Terouz left his hometown of Cairo at the age of 25, he not only made the ballsy decision to brace the blistering Canadian winters, he also chose to seek out a whole new career path in Montreal.

Turning to his true passion – music – Terouz began visiting every open mic night imaginable, which is how he came to discover Hubert Tremblay (Guitars) and Andrew Sudlow (Bass), the rest (Isaac Gesse on Trumpet and Harvey Bienaime on Drums) followed through to complete The Rising Few.

Fusing folk, blues, rock and pop, The Rising Few found their sound. One which showcases influences such Cat Stevens, The Tragically Hip and Bruce Springsteen, as well as Terouz’s Egyptian heritage with the band’s R&B / soul inspirations.

30 live shows later and a first place win at the LME showcase competition (http://www.landmarkevents.net) in which the band beat out 200+ others for top honours, the band is ready to indulge music fans in some “punchy Montreal soul” with their upcoming album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ set for release on March 25th.

Produced by the great Glen Robinson known for his mixing and mastering credits on projects with Dave Grohl’s Probot, The Ramones, David Bowie, AC/DC, Keith Richards, The Tea Party, Grim Skunk, Ringo Starr, The Beach Boys and many more over the course of his career.  ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is the perfect soundtrack for Canada’s most vibrant city.

“‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is really an observation of the new guy in town and written with a slight abstract touch to leave the space for the listener to relate to his/her own experiences. It depicts the colours and sultry details of the city’s nightlife.” comments vocalist/guitarist Karim Terouz.

Out Now + FREE Download! KILL MATILDA ‘#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll’ EP, Comic Book + Tour; New Music Video ‘Law Abiding Citizen’

L-R – Marcus Luk (Drums) – Mykel Exner (Bass) – Dusty Exner (Vocals/Guitar) (Photo Credit: Terryis Gane)

After a small hiatus due to health issues from a tumor in a carotid artery and an Ectopic pregnancy, Vancouver’s punk rocking zombie hunting Kill Matilda hasn’t let the odds against them stop the band from an ass-kicking mission to Punk, Zombie and Rock n’ Roll across Canada and unleash their six song EP/ re-release ‘#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll’ officially out this week as of March 4th.

“I have a guitar, I have a microphone. One week out of my hospital bed, I will meet you onstage.” Dusty Exner (vocalist/guitarist) Read more at ‘A Rocky Start, A Re-commitment’ – http://trailerparkdusty.wordpress.com/2014/01/23/a-rocky-start-a-recommitment/

The EP features tracks from their 2011 full-length album ‘I Want Revenge’ with an acoustic rendition of ‘Geisha With A Switchblade’ and is accompanied by a comic book created by vocalist/guitarist Dusty Exner.

“I am excited to announce that we will be providing a free download link for everyone along with a comic that I drew by hand to accompany the release. The comic book features 17 beautiful hand-drawn colored pieces of art, which is a lot of work for anyone but is a special challenge for me since this month I’ve had a long-awaited, much-anticipated, badly-needed formal diagnosis of ADHD.” comments vocalist/guitarist Dusty Exner. kill matilda - law abiding citizen - #punk#zombie#rocknroll official video

“Kill Matilda may be the best punk band you haven’t heard of. Based out of Canada and solely a DIY band, it’s very possible this female-fronted fist full of punk fury has flown under your radar. Not anymore, though. Their latest release, the #Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll EP is a throwback to the classic punk movement with a little bit of horror rock mixed in, serving as an impressive tribute to The Misfits (not that new “Misfits” crap- the real Misfits).” – The Front Row Report

“Opening up with Pomegranate and through to I Want Revenge hints of The Misfits and The Cramps instantly emerge from this vigorous group. Zombie Apocalypse and Law Abiding Citizen continue the mayhem through to the penultimate track PBJ which typifies your current day zombie. What really caught my attention was the final track Geisha With A Switchblade, this is a powerful depictive of the ultimate in revenge to a bad guy whilst enjoying every last detail. Check below the new video for Law Abiding Citizen and enjoy, if you’re nearby any venues these guys are tearing then get yourself down for a set of carnage!” All About The Rock UK

“if there’s one thing thing guaranteed to wake the slumbering beast from the annual hibernation it’s some gravelly voiced and quite frankly excellent punk. If you like Hole, The Misfits or The Offspring (and Yeah, Yeah Yeahs,) and let’s face it who doesn’t, then these guys are right up your alley…down and dirty punk with sexy riffs and a promise of blood, fists and stomping buy this on March 4th. You won’t regret it.” – Wyrd Ways Show Review

“The EP is packed full of high energy, powerful tracks. I personally find that the band makes you feel like you are at their show, rocking out with them. It’s a mix of songs that gives you chills and makes you feel empowered by just listening.” – Canadian Beats

That makes me feel very, very special.” says KM vocalist/guitarist Dusty Exner.

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music that Chimaira, Machine Head, and Hatebreed would be proud of, and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With three full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title,” “Sandwich,” and their holiday album, “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” – the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.

After a successful 2013 that saw these touring ninja warriors hit the road for multiple shows on the ‘Our Tour Can Beat Up Your Tour’, ‘Blow Your Fingers Off’ summer tour, their late summer dates with American Head Charge plus appearances at summer fests that included Rockapalooza, A2 Fest, Breast Fest Biker Bash, and Dirtfest.  The band finally took a break in last months of the year and held a successful crowd funding campaign (thank you video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSeQHqMCfJI), where they are now currently in studio recording their follow up to 2011’s ‘Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs’.

Montreal, QC’s infectious rock band The Rising Few have posted their latest music video ‘I Want You Now’ in support of their upcoming debut album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’.

“This song was inspired by a beautiful barmaid working behind the counter at the Rouge nightclub (Prince Arthur/St-Laurent) in the summer of 2012. To make things even better,  the actual barmaid  that sparked this bar-song is the actress for the music video. It was a dream come true to have her as the actual ”GIRL” of the inspired song.” says vocalist/ guitarist Karim Terouz. “Great thanks to CLEBARD for lending us their space, Base-Bin Studio, many thanks to BUBO productions, Jorge Zavagno and of course The Rising Few fans for being our classy extras!”

Set for release on March 25th, ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is a tribute to the city of Montreal, QC and its nightlife that front man Karim Terouz has fallen in love with since calling it home after immigrating from Cairo, Egypt. Laurent’ is the perfect soundtrack for one of Canada’s most vibrant city’s.

Last month, The Rising Few teamed up with the city’s leading francophone weekly VOIR to premiere the first music video and title track, which the band is offering as a FREE Download at the following links.

Laurent’.

Vancouver’s KILL MATILDA Return With ‘#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll’ EP + Cross Canada Tour

L-R – Marcus Luk (Drums) – Mykel Exner (Bass) – Dusty Exner (Vocals/Guitar) (Photo Credit: Terryis Gane)

Kill Matilda just can’t sit still even when the odds are against them. From a tumor in a carotid artery to an Ectopic pregnancy, when a band is on an ass-kicking mission to Punk, Zombie and Rock n’ Roll, who can really blame them to ever stop?

“I have a guitar, I have a microphone. One week out of my hospital bed, I will meet you onstage.” Dusty Exner (vocalist/guitarist) – A Rocky Start, A Re-commitment – http://trailerparkdusty.wordpress.com/2014/01/23/a-rocky-start-a-recommitment/

Touring and moving around their native country of Canada relentlessly, Kill Matilda has called B.C., Quebec and Ontario home over the last few years, making it exceptionally clear that they mean business. As their journey continues, the band is gearing up once again to hit the road across the country from Vancouver to Montreal and settling in Toronto for a second time.

The zombie hunters will be on tour in promotion of their new release ‘#Punk#Zombie#Rocknroll’, a six song EP/ re-release featuring tracks from their 2011 full-length album ‘I Want Revenge’ with an acoustic rendition of ‘Geisha With A Switchblade’. The EP is set for official release on March 4th and will be accompanied by a comic book created by vocalist/guitarist Dusty Exner.

Also in the plans for later this year, the band will be releasing their yet to be titled follow up EP produced by producer extraordinaire Garth Richardson.

“The amazing attention of Garth Richardson! Although this man has produced so many amazing albums and we’re not the only band getting some attention and love, he took the extra steps to personally engineer our new album, which is something he has not done in like, 10 years or something. That makes me feel very, very special.” says KM vocalist/guitarist Dusty Exner.

About KM:

The band is charged again with the task of clearing the nation of a spreading zombie epidemic after a life or death encounter one fateful night, Kill Matilda is rising to the challenge of zombie management. Specially trained to combat these unruly creatures, Kill Matilda is armed with two incomparable, indestructible, advantageous tools: With their bone-crushing music and front woman Dusty Exner’s famous cookies.

Showcasing the energy, power and adrenaline-soaked insanity Kill Matilda is famous for, anyone who chooses to tempt fate and not pick up ‘#Punk#Zombie#Rocknroll’ and ‘I Want Revenge’, or anyone who opts to not support KM’s zombiecide mission on the band’s upcoming cross-Canada tour, you’ve been warned – Kill Matilda may be coming for you next.
