ASHEN HORDE Announces New Album “The Harvest” Out May 2026; Unveil Music Video “Entropy and Ecstasy”

Los Angeles extreme‑metal shapeshifters Ashen Horde return on May 1st, 2026, with “The Harvest”, their fifth full‑length album and the first to feature new vocalist Karl Chamberlain (Putrefier, Alcyone, Necrotic Remains). Known for weaving black metal, death metal, prog, and 90s‑inspired grit into something unmistakably their own, Ashen Horde push their sound further than ever, embracing melody, chaos, and sharp contrasts across eight thematically linked tracks.

Alongside the album announcement, Ashen Horde have unveiled the first single, “Entropy and Ecstasy”, a whirlwind of jagged riffs, angular Voivod‑like progressions, and Chamberlain’s soaring, chilling vocal hooks. The accompanying video represents a major milestone for the band: despite recording the entire album remotely, this is the first time the members have appeared together on camera.

The first preview to the album, “Entropy and Ecstasy,” captures the album’s core idea: finding exhilaration in collapse. The song follows a couple who thrive on the chaos of a world falling apart, a concept Portz admits was likely sparked by the early COVID lockdowns.

Guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz recalls being floored by Chamberlain’s audition:

“I sent him a demo of ‘Entropy and Ecstasy’ with unfinished lyrics, and he sent back his take. His vocals on the line ‘how can we thrive if we expect to survive?’ still give me chills.”

“The Harvest” marks a turning point for Ashen Horde. After a decade as a studio‑driven project, the band is preparing to play its first‑ever live shows in May, coinciding with the album’s release. It’s also the first full‑length to feature Chamberlain, whose dynamic range helped reshape the band’s sonic identity.

While Ashen Horde’s previous four albums were tightly constructed concept records, “The Harvest” takes a different approach. Each track stands alone, yet all orbit the idea of endings, personal, societal, historical, and cosmic.

“I didn’t have a single story this time, but the lyrics kept circling reactions to things ending. From societal collapse to ancient rituals to the last days of Pompeii, everything tied together naturally,” explains Portz.

Musically, the album is a showcase of the band’s eclectic influences. From the opening track, “Autumnal”, a slow-burning ascent into full black‑metal fury, inspired by the Sensorio light installation in Paso Robles. “Backward Momentum” blends Opeth‑style clean‑vocal layering with 90s‑rock riffing and one of Portz’s favorite solos on the album. “Voids in the Ash” pairs grunge‑inflected vocal harmonies with hyperspeed black‑metal bursts, telling the story of Pompeii from both mortal and divine perspectives. “The Apparition” channels early death metal before spiraling into odd‑meter prog weirdness. The title track, “The Harvest,” closes the album with an apocalyptic vision inspired by Iceland’s stark landscapes and the album’s striking cover art.

The album’s cover, featuring two red skeletons locked in an eerie, autumnal tableau, was created by artist Venus Kohana, whose work Portz discovered at an art show. The imagery’s blend of beauty, decay, and ritual perfectly mirrors the album’s themes.

“I bought a print and couldn’t stop staring at it. Eventually, I realized it had to be the cover. It even inspired the lyrics to the title track.”

For over a decade, Ashen Horde has carved out a unique place in extreme metal, refusing to be confined to any single subgenre. Rooted in black and death metal but unafraid to explore melodic prog, 90s alternative, and avant‑garde experimentation, the band appeals to fans of Opeth, Enslaved, Amorphis, Ihsahn, and metal’s more adventurous corners.

Originally founded as a solo project by guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz, Ashen Horde has evolved into a full lineup featuring vocalist Karl Chamberlain and Australian-based drummer Robin Stone (The Amenta, Convulsing).

“The Harvest” represents the band’s most dynamic, collaborative, and ambitious work to date.

“The harvest is coming! The new Ashen Horde album is a multi-faceted journey into every nook and cranny of extreme metal. “The Harvest” is challenging and quirky, but unlike a lot of other progressive/experimental releases, it never loses track of the key ingredient in music – good songwriting. All tracks are well-crafted and interesting in their own right, and the skillful instrumental performances are more like the icing on the cake and not the main focus. Highly recommended!” – Nik Sundin (Dark Tranquillity)

“Antimony; 3/5 rating; “the sound Ashen Horde has developed over three albums is pretty much theirs alone. It’s a dense but accessible approach that rewards both casual listens and sustained attention.” – Angry Metal Guy (2023 – Antimony)

“Equal parts blackened madness, death metal riffing, and clean vocals, “The Neophyte” should get just about anyone stoked for Antimony.” – Metal Injection (2023 – Antimony)

“an amazing odyssey all around and the amount of remarkable coherency as well as the instrumentation work and musicianship is just top notch.” – Metal Purgatory (2023 – Antimony)

“Progression like what Ashen Horde has undergone over the years is what the best tales in the underground are made out of.” – Head-Banger Reviews (2023 – Antimony)

“Fallen Cathedrals; 4.0 rating; “I can’t recommend this enough for fans of black and death metals being combined in unique ways.” – Angry Metal Guy (2019 – Fallen Cathedrals)

0 Chris Adler (Lamb of God) Teams Up w/ TONIC BREED For Explosive New Single “Anew”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 19, 2025

Norwegian Thrash TONIC BREED Drops Explosive New Single “Anew” Featuring Chris Adler of Lamb of God

Tonic Breed’s new single “Anew” features Grammy-winning drummer Chris Adler — in what frontman Patrik K. Svendsen calls the most Lamb of God-style drumming he’s heard from Adler since his days in the band.

Tonic Breed, the metal project led by Norwegian musician Patrik K. Svendsen, is set to release its highly anticipated new single, “Anew,” on June 19, 2025. This high-octane track features Chris Adler, the iconic drummer of Lamb of God, lending his blistering rhythms to the song. The collaboration is expected to set the metal world on fire as Tonic Breed blends its signature thrash sound with Adler‘s unmatched drumming prowess. The song was also mixed and mastered by acclaimed producer Machine, who also handled Lamb of God’s “Ashes of the Wake” and “Sacrament”.

Chris Adler comments:

“I was quite curious when I got an email — and some riffs — from Patrik. He’s done some cool shit and I was flattered to be on his radar… I researched it for a minute and agreed. We did have to take a minute to both feel good about what this would be — meaning I beat up his song like a fucking Rocky movie — but I knew it had the parts and strength. It’s been a privilege to work with Patrik. Humbling. You’ll know what I mean when you hear it.”

Svendensen adds:

“I originally sent over a rough demo of the song, a storm of riffs strung together with placeholder drums and a suggested structure. We worked together on a new structure for the song, and Chris took the lead on shaping it into something far more unique and effective than my original draft. To me, this is the most Lamb of God-style drumming I’ve heard from Chris since he was in Lamb of God. I’m sure some metal guitarists would kill to hear Chris Adler’s drumming behind their riffs — I’ve been lucky enough to experience that firsthand.”

“Anew” will be available for streaming across all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, on June 19th, 2025. The release of “Anew” marks a new milestone in the band’s career, as they prepare for their upcoming album, which promises more collaborations and even more explosive metal tracks to follow past high-profile collaborations, which already include Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), Björn Strid (Soilwork), Michael Gilbert (Flotsam and Jetsam).

Orchestral blackened death metal outfit Vortex has emerged from the void with their most ambitious release with their next concept record “Alien Realms”, set for release on April 11th, 2025, alongside the first single “When Humans Defy the Void”. With this release, they also announce eastern Canada tour dates with France’s XAON for April followed by European dates in October and November. They comment on the single:

“This song is a melodic assault, blending thrash-driven verses, hyper-melodic choruses, and an epic finale, all immersed in grand, sweeping orchestrations. Bold and daring, humans leave Earth in search of intelligent extraterrestrial life. This track is divided into three distinct sections: the thrashy, aggressive verses; the ultra-melodic choruses; and the glorious, epic ending.”

The band further explains that “Alien Realms” is a natural progression from their previous work. They’ve enhanced the orchestral elements while pushing deeper into blackened death metal territory. The EP explores humanity’s venture into space in search of intelligent life, though what they discover isn’t quite what they expected.

Known for their ability to seamlessly blend technical prowess with emotional depth, Vortex promises performances that showcase both crushing intensity and melodic sophistication. This can be witnessed at one of their live shows or felt through the song “When Humans Defy the Void”. They are recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Shadow of Intent, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Canadian College Radio Charts – August 2023 – top 20 loud – #14 Vortex (earshot)

“#8 on Top 10 Quebec Band 2023 Albums – The Future Remains In Oblivion delivers a solid punch with their intense and well-felt symphonic death metal and, with a quality product like this, they have nothing to envy of the big names in the genre.” – Thorium Mag

“The Future Remains in Oblivion is the collision zone between powdered wig classical and battle jacketed death metal that should hold appeal for fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and those who like their Suffocation mixed with Dimmu Borgir.” – Decibel Magazine

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“If there’s anything that Vortex nails, it’s drama. Album highlight and banger track “First Blood” is simply massive” – Angry Metal Guy

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“the title-track The Future Remains In Oblivion, a song that will blow your mind with its insane wall of sounds, background orchestrations, epic passages, striking riffs and solos, and visceral yet intricate drums, resulting in one of the most breathtaking moments of the entire album.” – The Headbanging Moose

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

0 “Feel It Too” w/ Canadian Punks THE BLOODY HELL’s New Single / Music Video Off Forthcoming 2025 Album “Blood Code”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 27, 2025

“Feel It Too” w/ Canadian Punks THE BLOODY HELL’s New Single / Music Video Off Forthcoming 2025 Album “Blood Code”

Halifax, Canada’s The Bloody Hell are back with their first taste of new music since releasing their sophomore album “Nobody Cares” in 2020. Entitled “Feel It Too”, the track is a peek at what’s to come from the Atlantic Canada street punks in 2025. The song’s lyrics were written by vocalist Ian Kean during the deepest darkest recesses of the Covid pandemic and quarantine that came along with that.

“Everyone was sitting around all day, wasting away, sinking deeper and getting more depressed. The only connection to the outside world was through social media, so everyone was posting their opinions and concerns all over the internet. It all seemed so lost and desperate. So that’s what the song is about essentially, how stupid everybody was acting during that time online, and although I would see countless bad takes and shitty opinions, I also felt confused, lost and hopeless. I felt it too. So I wrote this song as a way to make fun of or call out all the stupid things people were saying, but also to admit to myself that it was coming from a place of fear and uncertainty, and that I felt the same way. To say you’re not alone – I feel it too. This is the first single off our upcoming album entitled “Blood Code”, which we are currently in the process of finishing up and hope to release this summer or fall. This eight song album will be a big step forward for the band, we have added a new guitar player and the song writing has gotten much more interesting while still maintaining the simplistic catchiness of the previous two albums.” adds Ian Kean.

Suitable for a variety of fans, The Bloody Hell cites influences ranging from Misfits, Nirvana, and Motorhead, anyone who enjoys a fun and dirty romp with a bull horn of grungy vocals.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Feel It Too” at https://youtu.be/PBVb38qrwKY

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3XjKoLc

The Bloody Hell is what would happen if George Thorogood sang for the Misfits but all the songs were written by Tom Petty – Super catchy guitar rock songs about hardship and heartache played with intensity and passion, at punk rock speeds.

Since forming in early 2017 The Bloody Hell have gained a local following by tearing up stages with touring acts Propagandhi, DOA , Ripcordz , RayGun Cowboys and Heart Attack Kids as well as local favorites such as The Blackrats, Worst Part, Cluttered, Diner Drugs, Hitman and Orchids Curse.

2018’s self titled debut “The Bloody Hell”, went on to spawn 6 singles and music videos, and earned nominations for “Loud Recording” of the year at the 2018 Nova Scotia Music Awards and “Canadian Independent Music Video” Of The Year 2019 from Dropout Entertainment dot com.

When the global pandemic canceled all of the gigs The Bloody Hell had lined up for 2020 / 2021, it didn’t slow the creative process or forward momentum of the band. The Bloody Hell returned to Fang recording studio in Summer 2020 and Spring of 2021 to record their sophomore album.

In November 2022, “Nobody Cares” was officially released, from which three singles have been released thus far, each accompanied by a unique and thought provoking music video. The video for the second single “When You’re Gone” was recently nominated for “Canadian Independent Music Video” of the Year by Dropout Entertainment dot com. Our second nomination for this award in three years. The video for the single “Out of Our Minds” was also nominated for that award in 2019. The sophomore album has also earned a nomination from Music Nova Scotia for “Loud Recording of the Year” 2023 and has been regarded as a huge step forward for the band, by both fans and critics alike.

In fall 2024, The Bloody Hell hit the studio to work on their new album “Blood Code”, which is slated for release in 2025.

The Bloody Hell is:
Ian Kean – Vocals
James Densley – Lead Guitar
Joe Woods – Bass
Andrew Welsmen – Guitar
Ben Schulman – Drums

“Punk and horror punk fans should find Nobody Cares of great interest. ” – Metal Talk

“FFO – Catchy Horror Punk – Just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water, Halifax-based quartet The Bloody Hell release their new LP Nobody Cares. The album collects the band’s recent singles, including August’s cover of “Barbra” by The Modernettes, along with some shiny new tracks.” – That’s Good Enough For Me

“Sound wise it’s very accessible, an up-tempo and fun listen that is easy on the ear and compelling to the mind, with influences that the band cite as ranging from Misfits, Nirvana, and Motorhead and it’s filled with catchy hooks and grungy raw-edged vocals, a winning combination in this particular context, it’s very broad spectrum and if you like a horror twist then it could be even more appealing to you. Lyrically the content is interestingly often ambiguous and delivered with clarity of content so you can give them your own interpretation.” – The Punk Globe (Self-Titled 2018)

Italian experimental metal outfit SVNTH will be coronating their new album “Pink Noise Youth” on These Hands Melt Records this coming April 2025. Unveiling their first single “Cinnamon Moon” this past January, the quintet in offering its next scent of blackgaze with “Perfume”. The track is carried by catchy and emotional guitar melodies with captivating singing, classic song structure and lyrics about nostalgia and moments that will never come back. It mixes elements of alternative rock and post-metal for a sound reminiscent of Alcest, Nothing and Smashing Pumpkins.

Listen to “Perfume” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

Single Artwork for “Perfume”

“Pink Noise Youth” is SVNTH‘s fourth studio album to follow their 2020 “Spring in Blue”. This new full-length demonstrates SVNTH‘s continued evolution, deliberately transcending genre boundaries by combining elements of hardcore, metal, shoegaze, and post-rock with unexpected instrumental choices. The album promises to take listeners on a cohesive journey through its carefully crafted track sequence, maintaining the band’s tradition of creating conceptually unified works.

“This album is also full of new things, starting from a consistent line-up change of more than half of the band, the introduction of many new instruments such as electric Indian sitar, clean singing, classical and 12 strings guitars and in addition songwriting goes back to a more traditional song in opposition to the more suite-like approach of the previous album. People will surely welcome it with curiosity.” adds the band.

The music of SVNTH has always been aiming to give the listener emotional vibes. This record in particular is conceptually based on exploring late youth emotions and the music is created for reflecting such instability.

Recommended for fans of Deafheaven, Alcest, and Agalloch, “Pink Noise Youth” is due out on April 18, 2025, on Vinyl, CD, and Digital via These Hands Melt Records and is available for pre-order / pre-save at https://lnk.to/SVNTH

About:

With a various background of musical influences and artistic inspirations, SVNTH (written all caps and pronounced “Seventh”, formerly “Seventh Genocide”) from Rome, Italy has been shaping a unique equilibrium of sounds through the years moving across a huge variety of directions on the palette of contemporary alternative music to create a distinctive soundtrack for inner emotions, life scenarios, and existentialist questioning. Expanding the energy of black and post-metal over the mellow and contemplative boundaries of shoegaze, art pop, and cinematic post-rock.

From the vivid early black gaze melodies of the debut “Breeze of Memories” (2015) to the long song structures with acoustic overtures and Godspeed You! Black Emperor inspired sections of the monumental “Toward Akina” (2017); SVNTH confirms this more complex approach on the double LP “Spring in Blue” (2020), the childhood chapter of a trilogy of colors based on emotions in different phases of life.

The upcoming “Pink Noise Youth” (2025) gets back to a more traditional song format, introducing a unique use of Indian sitar, and an array of acoustic instruments and singing expressions, which develops SVNTH to a one-of-a-kind sound and personality.

As of today, the band has done several tours and single shows all over Europe and in the USA touching even non-frequently toured countries such as Albania and Turkey and performing at notable festivals like Rockstadt and Frantic Fest, bringing a defining cathartic live energy.

“This is arguably SVNTH’s defining effort to date, and will hopefully see them gain a foothold within the scene at large…” – Distorted Sound Magazine (2020 – Spring in Blue)

“”The music seems to wail and mournfully murmur like spirits who have lost their way in a shimmering desert world. Those lonesome laments unfold into a momentum of neck-snapping beats, raking chords, and high, harrowing shrieks” – No Clean Singing (2020 – Spring in Blue)

“SVNTH sets out in hopes of bridging the rift of a jealous god, welding genres into music that can appeal to all sensibilities, without sacrificing integrity (or intensity)” – Toilet ov Hell (2020 – Spring in Blue)

“”Distortions, speed and sinister atmosphere as the tradition black imposes but also delicate chiselations from which a light filters that suggests possible trajectories capable of questioning the dictatorship of matter, Spring in Blue is an album that is not afraid to face the recognized columns of Ercole gender and to push it far beyond 8.5/10” – Grind On The Road

“an interesting take on black metal, delving deeper into psychedelia and post-rock influences on new EP SVNTH. Though the tremolo-picked guitar playing and blast beats accompanied by howled screams still remain, they are met with shimmering melodies, ambient stretches and Pink Floyd-esque guitars.” – Decibel Magazine (2018 – EP SVNTH)

Coming off their exciting performance at 70 Tons of Metal this past January, SUPER MONSTER PARTY (SMP) has a new single and video entitled “Night Into Dreams”. The track is an 80’s synth wave meets metal and is inspired by the popular Sega video game of the same name. It features guest artists, Lacey Johnson, a popular VGM artist, and the members of Lame Genie on drums, bass, and guitar.

“I wrote this song to capture the essence of the game, Nights Into Dreams — a realm where the magic of flight, matches the pulse of the joystick, and every riff powers you through a level of chaos and triumph.” adds vocalist Rei Sega.

The single is also their first taste of new music since releasing their latest album “Rage Quit“ this past November.

Watch and listen to the video for “Night Into Dreams” at https://youtu.be/BJjqK25Mu6s

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/41fdbSd

SUPER MONSTER PARTY is a band for all video game nerds, jump’n’run enthusiasts, metalheads, 90s kids, weirdos, and everyone in between – a metal band that’s all about video games, singing from the heroes or villains introspective point of view. Rocking together since 2020, SUPER MONSTER PARTY have already gathered a lot of XP, having a bunch of achievements under their belt, with 4 albums: Rage Quit (2024), Game Genie (2023), Side Quest (2020), Permadeath (2020) and an EP Up Up Down Die (2022). The band is the concept of Singer/Songwriter Rei Sega and features notable members Emilio Martinez (Yngwie Malmsteen) on bass, Fern Lemus (Lions at the Gate) on the drums, Andy Alvarez (Irras One) on rhythm guitar, and Oleh Andrievsky as lead guitarist.

Their intense, melodic, catchy, and heavy sound shows influences of The Misfits, Rhapsody, Slipknot, NOFX, and Van Halen. The variety of different influences and genres, worshiped by the band, means that they can find the right metal sound for all game themes – each video game universe is authentically set to music, while the skills of the masterful musical chameleon that is SUPER MONSTER PARTY cannot be pinned down to one genre. No two songs sound the same, but one thing is for sure – they all rock hard.

“Super Monster Party Gotta Go Fast in Their Tribute to Sonic the Hedgehog, “Blue Hurricane”” – Metal Sucks

“Super Monster Party’s Single “This Is Doom!” is a Love Letter to the Gore-Filled First-Person Shooter” – Metal Sucks

““Okay,” grins livewire Super Monster Party frontman Rei Sega. “Now we’re gonna do something different…” It’s one of the understatements of the weekend as the video game-obsessed crew oversee an incredibly unhinged flash flood of colour and chaos. Based out of Miami, they’re the closest thing to local favourites that 70K has on offer and a packed-in audience throw everything into seeing them steal the whole damn show. Punters chucking Mario Kart shells at each other across the room. Dozens of special outfits, from a black metal Pikachu to Ronald McDonald and Grimace. Some giant pink monster, possibly an obscure Pokémon, ‘laying its eggs’ in the middle of it all. There are circle-pits, conga lines, punters crowdsurfing in inflatables from the pool and more chaos than you can wave a controller at. And SMP have the songs to match, from bonkers bops like Dance Dance Revolution (Til The Death) to Blue Hurricance (a speed metal banger about Sonic The Hedgehog) and smashing closer This Is Doom!. The games have just begun.” – Kerrang (2025 – 70 Tons of Metal Live Review)

“Rage Quit is just so much fun. Very much one which suits the metal community as so many of us are also gaming nerds, and the tunes aren’t throwaway crap either…. played well, tongue firmly in cheek, and rounded off well with the interludes. Very much one to look forward to.” – Moshville Times

“Rage Quit balances heavy riffs, melodic hooks, and varied styles to pay tribute to video game culture. It feels cohesive yet unpredictable, each track a carefully crafted homage that never loses the adrenaline-charged atmosphere of the album. From the crushing bass lines to the soaring guitar solos, each hits with maximum impact. Rage Quit is an invitation to relive gaming’s glory days through the lens of modern metal. With its flawless integration of game references and electrifying soundscapes, Super Monster Party has crafted a release that’s not only enjoyable but also groundbreaking in its dedication to celebrating the shared love of music and video games.” – Amplify The Noise

“SUPER MONSTER PARTY’S “RAGE QUIT” Album Is A Masterpiece Of Epic Proportions” – Horror Patch

“Video game nerds unite! Metal band Super Monster Party have just released their new album “Rage Quit” and if you love your metal heavy and fast (aside from one ballad) with intermittent narration between tracks for the full-on concept experience, well your day has arrived. Each track is centered on old school classics like Mortal Kombat, Doom, Sonic The Hedgehog, Zelda, Mario Bros & Castlevania among others. The perfect soundtrack while conquering the pixelated universe.” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

Italian experimental metal outfit SVNTH has just released their single “Cinnamon Moon” off their forthcoming album “Pink Noise Youth” out on These Hands Melt Records this coming April 2025. “Cinnamon Moon” showcases SVNTH‘s distinctive approach to genre-blending, weaving together elements of blackgaze and post-hardcore to create a deeply personal sonic landscape. The track stands as an emotional open letter, chronicling the complex journey of late youth through a rich tapestry of sound that includes slowdive-inspired ethereal delays, black metal screams, and the unconventional incorporation of the electric Indian sitar. The band shares their thoughts on the single:

“It unveils some of the most interesting features offered on the album in terms of sound and mood. With its captivating mix of blackgaze and post-hardcore, the song is an open letter soaked in fragility and emotional exposure, delivered to a loved one as a memorial of the hampered paths walked together on the road of late youth.”

While their earlier work explored life’s struggles through a childhood lens, “Pink Noise Youth” examines the chaos and emotional instability of early adulthood, giving voice to a generation as unpredictable as its namesake audio phenomenon.

“Pink Noise Youth” demonstrates SVNTH‘s continued evolution, deliberately transcending genre boundaries by combining elements of hardcore, metal, shoegaze, and post-rock with unexpected instrumental choices. The album promises to take listeners on a cohesive journey through its carefully crafted track sequence, maintaining the band’s tradition of creating conceptually unified works. It is recommended for fans of Deafheaven, Alcest, and Agalloch.

0 Canada’s SWEETBEAST New Music Video Calls Out All The Superficial “Plastic People” Off Debut Album “Illusions” Out Feb 2025

Canada’s SWEETBEAST New Music Video Calls Out All The Superficial “Plastic People”

Debut Album “Illusions” Out Feb 21st, 2025

L-R – Eric Gorzynski – Vocals/Guitar, Alex Graham – Backup Vocals/Bass, Colton Schofield – Drums, John Hermary – Vocals/Guitar

Kelowna, BC, Canada’s SweetBeast has a new music video to share for the track “Plastic People” in the lead-up to their forthcoming debut album “Illusions” out late February 2025. This is the third single the band is revealing off the record to follow songs “Illusion” ft. Space Queen” and “Dream Eater”.

SweetBeast explains “Plastic People”:

“This track critiques the superficiality of modern society, particularly the harmful effects of social media on mental health. With lines like “effects and filters, digital weapons,” the song highlights how the endless stream of digitally altered images fuels feelings of inadequacy, especially in women. This cycle of comparison can lead to doom scrolling, depression, and even suicide, stripping away authenticity and turning people into hollow, “plastic” versions of themselves. By raising awareness of these devastating effects, the song encourages self-reflection and contrasts inner beauty with the hollowness of curated personas.”

Watch and listen to the music video for “Plastic People” at https://youtu.be/by6W1-pNhE8

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3Q0p0GS

SweetBeast‘s first full-length “Illusions” is a sonic exploration of shifting realities, blending heavy, distorted riffs with introspective lyrics. It invites listeners to journey inward and outward, reflecting the complex relationship between mind, sound, and reality. The record leans heavily on low-tuned guitars, swirling effects, and a tight rhythm section that creates a dense, atmospheric sound. There’s a hypnotic groove throughout, with moments of psychedelic exploration, where riffs evolve into mind-bending progressions. The songs fluctuate between creative riffs and light, airy melodies that offer a contrast, pushing the boundaries of stoner rock.

“We believe our fans will really connect with our debut album. The mix of heavy, low-tuned guitars and melodic, psychedelic riffs captures the essence of our live performances, which our audience already loves. With this album and its singles, we’re aiming to give fans a fully immersive listening experience. We want them to feel transported by the deep, heavy grooves and layered, psychedelic soundscapes as if they’re on a journey through the mind or some otherworldly place. Each track is designed to pull the listener in with dynamic shifts, powerful riffs, and moments of reflection, creating a balance between intensity and space. We hope the singles offer a taste of this experience, sparking curiosity for the full album, which will be best enjoyed as a cohesive journey from start to finish. We’re excited to see how they embrace it.” adds the band.

Recommended for fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, All Them Witches, Kyuss, and Alice In Chains, SweetBeast‘s album “Illusions” is due out on February 21st, 2025 from Humalien Records, and will be available for pre-order at https://sweetbeastrock.bandcamp.com/

“The record (Illusions) is characterized by heavy grooves, memorable licks, and catchy, heavy, doomy goodness. Any lovers of the groove will definitely be fans of this one.” – Decibel Magazine

“Grungy heavy rock with fuzzy psychedelic twists win the day in ‘Illusions’ (2025), tapping a similar vein to bands like Queens Of The Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, All Them Witches, Kyuss, and Alice In Chains. While standing distinctly on their own turf, SweetBeast dishes out addictive grooves and punchy lyrical moments.” – Doomed and Stoned

“How about some brand new heavy-duty stoner rock?! The new single “Dream Eater” from SweetBeast is pretty amazing. “Dream Eater” meanders and bubbles beneath the surface until erupting with a wicked heavy solo and then falls back to its broody state. All in all, it’s a psychedelic journey that you won’t want to miss” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“SweetBeast creates tunes akin to an acid trip in the 70s — ideal for headbanging and perfect for getting lost in.” – Kelowna Now

“Making their first appearance on stage in Vancouver after making the trek from Kelowna, something I always appreciate. Shows the band believes they have something more people need to hear and are willing to live the road life to spread their sound. With this confidence comes a great live show, exactly what we got last night. Still grooving in the stoner/psych rock vein, SB leaned into the psychedelic direction a little more. Some great damn rock songs in here lead by a great singer armed with a voice that fit the vibe/sound so well. Fuzz heavy guitars shredding away and more than a few great little solos gave this set its flavor. Got some heavy 70’s era psychedelic vibes with all the wonderful squeals and squeaks coming from them. Just beautiful. Far and away though, the sexiest part of this offering were those drums. With the drummer exuding confidence in their ability, they gave us a great set full of wonderful licks and fills. Always in command on each song they were a blast to watch, full of fun grooves to dance to.” – Elder God Productions (Live Review – RED GATE 22/11/03 – Vancouver)

Video Endorsement from Dave Catching (Queens of the Stone Age / Eagles of Death Metal / Rancho De La Luna recording studio): Dave Catching Intro For SweetBeast at Tune It Down Turn It Up 2020

“They have beautiful harmonies and great melodies, I can’t wait to get them down here to make the album they deserve to make and unleash it upon the world..” – Dave Catching

Montreal, QC – January 23, 2024

Prog Collective LUNAR Confronts Personal Struggles in “Fall Back Into Old Habits” Lyric Video

ft. members Helion Prime, Beholder, Vis Mystica, Mokili Wa, Nordic Frost, Outloud, Double Vision

Fourth Studio Album “Tempora Mutantur” Out Jan 2025 via Saibot Reigns Records

Making Live Debut at Hyperspace Metal Festival 2025 (Vancouver, BC) – April 11th

Top 1st Row – Ryan Price – Bass, Alex Bosson – Drums
Middle 2nd Row – Connor McCray – Lead Guitar, Chandler Mogel – Clean Vocals
Bottom 3rd Row – Carlos Alvarez – Rhythm Guitar, Brian Lewis – Growl Vocals, Anthony Stahl – Keyboards

Sacramento, USA’s progressive metal visionaries LUNAR shares their new lyric video for “Fall Back Into Old Habits”, delivering a powerful exploration of personal patterns and emotional cycles. As the third preview of their upcoming concept album “Tempora Mutantur”, the track promises to be a visceral examination of human vulnerability, showcasing the band’s unique ability to transform personal struggles into universal musical experiences. Drummer Alex Bosson comments on the single:

“This is, I think, the longest, and maybe the “heaviest” song for Lunar thus far. Mostly features the growl vocals from Brian Lewis (although there is some of Chandler’s beautiful voice on here too). Lots of double basses, and multiple shreddy guitar solos (including one from Wildrun’s Wayne Ingram).”

Lyrically, “Fall Back Into Old Habits” deals with addiction, or anything we do that can give us temporary relief to help us get through rough moments, but ultimately have terrible long-term effects on ourselves. The 11-minute epic represents Lunar‘s commitment to creating music that is therapeutically honest and musically innovative.

“Fall Back Into Old Habits” continues Lunar’s tradition of creating progressive metal that challenges listeners to confront their inner landscapes. It is recommended for fans of Haken, Tool, and Porcupine Tree.

Watch and listen to the video for “Fall Back Into Old Habits” via its premiere on MetalAddicts HERE.

Founded by drummer Alex Bosson (Helion Prime, Planeswalker) and Ryan Erwin who passed away in 2018, LUNAR continues in his memory. This fourth full-length “Tempora Mutantur” follows 2023’s “The Illusionist” and features a fresh lineup with the addition of guitarists Carlos Alvarez and Connor McCray (Vis Mystica) along with keyboardist Anthony Stahl plus album guests Wayne Ingram (Wildrun), Joe Gullace (Thank You Scientist) and Sam Vallen (Caligula’s Horse).

A collaboration of musical minds, and with anything LUNAR does; “Tempora Mutantur” is an emotional thematic listening experience with ups and downs musically and lyrically dealing with the passing of time and the effects it has on us physically and mentally.

LUNAR’s “Tempora Mutantur” is due out on January 31, 2025, from Saibot Reigns Records.

“It’s really well done technically by a band that clearly cares about their music and can play.” – Rock The Joint Mag (The Illusionist 2023)

“If I had one word to describe this album, it would be this one: whirlwind… “The Illusionist” is an album that is living. From its jazzy highs to its heavy metal lows, this album is constantly on its toes, never repeating itself and never, ever growing complacent. A wonderful whirlwind indeed. 9/10” – Ever Metal

“I feel like Lunar has captured the balance between accessibility and technicality very well. I hear many of the same elements in their sound that, when employed well, make bands like Dream Theater, King Crimson, Voïvod and even Sigh so engaging. I love when an album comes out of nowhere (for me, anyway) and makes this much of an impression.” – The Metal Crypt

“As I said at the start, when I heard this album I was immediately grabbed by it. The story works nicely, it is very character based and features plenty of emotions which as a listener I certainly could relate to. The music is terrific with all the players putting in excellent performances and the instrumentation used in a clever way to match all that is going on with the lead character. There are moments of heavy prog as well as metal, but melody runs through the heart of it. The fact that some of the people in the band have never met or even been in the same room together is remarkable as it sounds like everyone was on the same hymn sheet and it doesn’t sound pieced together. That is a great credit to the writing, arranging as well as all the musicians doing their parts to the benefit of the whole piece. An absolutely delightful as well as enjoyable album.” – CGCM Rock Radio

“The concept is that there are songs that are angry, songs that are confused, songs that are depressing, and everywhere in between. Styles on the album run the gambit from Progressive Metal with melodic vocals, to moments of Jazz, to cookie monster Thrash…. The musicianship is solid on all of the parts, with some excellent performances, notably vocalist Chandler Mogel… it does warrant checking out for Prog-Metal fans that like a mix of growler and melodic vocals.” – Metal Express Radio

“The Illusionist again is at the highest level of the progsphere, Bosson’s continuation of the Lunar name, honouring his co-founder and friend, through the medium of progressive metal, is an advantageous endeavour. 9/10” – Musipedia of Metal

Poland’s KINGSPHERE Unveils Powerful Music Video for “Archetype” Off Forthcoming Third Album in 2025

L-R – Maciej Sobieski (Drums), Kamil Sikorski (Guitar/Vocals), Piotr Miliczek (Vocals), Marek Kula (Guitar), Paweł Kawalec (Bass)

Modern metal outfit Kingsphere, from Rybnik, Poland, is set to release the music video for their latest single “Archetype”, delivering a memorable metalcore experience that is both aggressive and emotionally vulnerable. The band comments on what listeners can expect:

“It is an intense and dynamic track that captures the essence of our sound. It combines heavy, hard-hitting verses with melodic and emotionally charged choruses, creating a powerful contrast. The energy is elevated by intricate guitar solos that add an electrifying edge and depth to the song. The track also features a mystical bridge, offering a moment of atmosphere and intrigue before diving back into its relentless energy.”

With two albums under their belts, 2012’s Self-Titled and 2022’s “Enigmatic”, Kingsphere’s sound has evolved naturally as they’ve grown as musicians and as a band. In the beginning, they focused on raw energy and heavy riffs, inspired by their love for modern metal. Over time, they’ve started experimenting with more dynamic elements—adding catchier melodies, atmospheric layers, and intricate rhythms—to create a more diverse and unique sound.

“Archetype” is a journey through aggression, melody, and emotion, reflecting both the raw power and the introspective side of the band. It is recommended for anyone who enjoys powerful clean vocals and heavy breakdowns, especially those with an interest in All That Remains, Born Of Osiris, and The Browning.
