Canada’s CroMagnum Come Ripping Out The Primordial Ooze With “Tunguska” Off Upcoming EP “Born Free”

New EP “Born Free” Out Sept 17th, 2021 via King Metal Records

CroMagnum Current Line Up: L-R – Maximus Rex: Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards – Gino LaPosta: Bass

Years in the making, Montreal’s CroMagnum recently released their first single with the music video “Tunguska” from their upcoming EP “Born Free”. According to the band, this EP is more involved than the last, with a second guitar and more refinement in the melody. The music video for the single shows that CroMagnum is bringing the same power riffage and dirt, as the band explains in their own words:

“The song “Tunguska” mirrors the blazing atmospheric entry of this song’s subject, the mysterious space object that fell to Earth in the northern tundra of Russia over a hundred years ago! Musically, an absolute monolithic blitzkrieg of searing riffs thrown at you at breakneck speed! No time to even take a breath!”

The five-track EP delivers thundering waves of primordial power and aims to give listeners a feeling of empowerment, an interesting variety of dynamics across the whole record, a few unexpected surprises, something original that stands out from other releases in the genre.

The musical production on the video was supplied by Alain Londero and it was filmed by one-woman film crew Maude Baillargeon. If the music video and the song aren’t enough for fans, Maximus Rex has also written and illustrated a comic book that shares a title with the EP.

All out pandemonium awaits! CroMagnum is recommended for fans of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest.

About:

Born of the frosty bowels of Montreal, Quebec, Canada comes CroMagnum, heavy metal from a simpler time. Brutal and unforgiving. Thoughtful and visionary. A forced juxtaposition that leads to an intense listening experience.

CroMagnum started when Maximus Rex and the original drummer parted ways with their previous band with an aim to keep it simple, heavy as fuck and stay as a three-piece. Since then, CroMagnum has evolved into its current form as the main duo of Maximus Rex on guitar and vocals, Gino LaPosta on bass.

With two EPs under their belts, 2014’s self-titled initial release and now 2021’s “Born Free”, CroMagnum embodies the human race’s struggle to climb out of the primordial ooze toward its future ascension to godhood. Lyrical content flows from anger, frustration, history, politics, government corruption, legends, and philosophy, complete with soaring melodies and punishing riffs.

Mythology. Tradition. Evolution. The beginning. The end. CroMagnum.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 2, 2021

For fans of Judas Priest, Saxon, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Manowar

Canada’s Lycanthro Are Now Streaming Their New Album “Mark of the Wolf”

Album Stream Premiere via MetalInsider

New Album “Mark of The Wolf” Out June 4th via Alone Records

Lycanthro has been hard at work on their new album “Mark of the Wolf”, which releases on Friday, June 4th via Alone Records to follow their 2018 EP “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”.

Before “Mark of the Wolf” officially drops, Lycanthro has teamed with MetalInsider.net for its full stream HERE.

On this new LP, Lycanthro has been drawing more influences from European and US power metal to the point where they decided to make it a mainstay in their overall sound.

The band hopes that this upcoming full length will have a positive impact on the listeners and that the songs will be memorable and stuck in the listener’s mind after they’ve finished the album. Along with the two singles “Evangelion” and “Crucible” that have already been released, the album flaunts a diverse range of songs including the sing-along crowd-pleaser  “In Metal We Trust”; the epic retelling of Hunchback of Notre Dame with “Fallen Angels Prayer” and the harmonic “Enchantress”. Vocalist/guitarist James Delbridge gives insight into the album:

“This album has taken a while to forge, and we hope that fans will marvel in the peaks and valleys that this album has to offer, and leave with having a positive experience! Some songs are an homage to different stories from pop culture and media and we hold near and dear to our hearts, other songs are meant to bring the listener on a journey through the worlds within the song, and others are just so the listener can marvel in the epicness of metal!”

“Mark of the Wolf” is eight tracks of diverse listening that offer something for everyone while still staying under the power metal umbrella. High soaring vocals, harmonized guitars, heavy chugging riffs, odd, but cool instruments, and even a breakdown or 2, all metalheads have something they can take from this album and walk away with a positive experience.

This album as well as the previous EP was recorded at Wolf Lake Studios in Lac-des-Loups, Quebec and the mastering was done by Jack Kosto who is most well-known for being the lead guitarist in power metal band Seven Spires.

Lycanthro is recommended listening for power metal fans everywhere especially those who enjoy Helloween, Manowar and Judas Priest.

“Their latest single (Crucible) is a treat for any fans of power metal or good old classic heavy metal. The track features a catchy rhythm, precision drumming, and classic 80’s vocals. It’s over 7 minutes of headbang worthy heavy metal. The guitar work is a particular highlight of the track, changing pace throughout the track, keeping the listener engaged throughout.” – Metal Injection

“Mark of the Wolf is filled with mostly catchy heavy metal (good luck trying to get “In Metal We Trust” out of your head after hearing it once) that gets the listener break out the air guitar and air drums and sing along almost from beginning to end. Fans of ’80s heavy metal and modern power metal that’s not over the top should definitely find something to like on Mark of the Wolf.” -The Metal Crypt

“As a debut hard rock/heavy metal album overall, it not only showcases a variety of talent throughout its 43 minutes of captured studio time, but it also features an even number of eight powerful songs crafted with fury and determination… Mark Of The Wolf marks not only many criteriae for the consummate debut album but also marks LYCANTHRO’s own territory within the new breed. 5.0 Out Of 5.0” – KNAC.com

“Eerie picked acoustic over strings begin the track (Crucible) with driving guitars burst through and start off a rampage of rock riffing and drums. With an uptight electric feel to the track, it’s a full on rock n roll epic complete with howling vocals and singing guitars.” – Backseat Mafia

“What’s better than spending your Saturday evening with a bunch of Canadian Heavy Metal Werewolves? I bet there’s not much that sounds more like an alpha move huh? LYCANTHRO have assembled their first full-length and it is a ripper! 8/10” – Reflections of Darkness

“Mark of the wolf” is an example of how a heavy metal album should sound. It is classic, and at the same time very inventive and fresh. Expectations fully met. Their debut can easily be classified as one of the most important events of 2021. Rating: 9/10″ – Power Metal Warrior

0 Get Ready To Fight Your Oppressors! Crawling Manifest’s New Lyric Video “Right to Refrain Silence”

  • May 31, 2021

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 31, 2021

For fans of Lamb of God, Megadeth, Power Trip, Testament, Exodus

Get Ready To Fight Your Oppressors! Crawling Manifest’s New Lyric Video “Right to Refrain Silence”

New Album “Radical Absolution” Out Now!

Over the course of the eight tracks on “Radical Absolution”, Crawling Manifest brings you anger, relief, energy, heavy riffs, and wild solos. The single “Right to Refrain Silence” is no exception as one of the album’s fight songs that inject listeners with that “get up and go” feeling.

According to the band, the single, at its core, is designed to hit a nerve, as they explain further:

“The song “Right to Refrain Silence,” is nothing short of a fight song against oppression, with every line pointing out the failings of our leaders. All around us we see this theme of the police departments and legislators suppressing people’s voices, and this track was a call to action against that. Like we say in the song, “Until our last breath escapes us, we’ll take our liberty.”

The single was one of the first songs finished for the album, and one of the most fun for the duo to write. They say that musically, they really found their stride with this one and were able to put forward a song that combined all of the fast-paced aggression that they look for within their tracks with a groove that pulls all of it together in the chorus.

“Right to Refrain Silence” is an anthemic, powerful call to action that will have listeners chanting along with the chorus “United we stand, Divided they fall”. Crawling Manifest is recommended listening for fans of Testament, Exodus and Lamb of God.

The video for “Right to Refrain Silence” can be watched via its premiere on V13.net HERE.

The album “Radical Absolution” is available on Crawlingmanifest.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

Lyric Video – World War III – https://youtu.be/mR1YdGGrDw4

1. Land of The Free (2:27)

About:
Crawling Manifest was formed in 2014 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, USA. The thrash metal band incorporates elements from death metal, modern metal and core.

After multiple line-up changes, live shows, and tours, playing alongside bands such as Fleshgod Apocalypse, Soulfly, Soilwork, Carach Angren, and Kataklysm, remaining members Andrew Gladu and Trevor Layton made the decision to write new music taking influence from the bands they grew up listening to and combining a love of death and thrash metal into a powerful new sound.

It starts off with a beer, which turns into a riff and it just goes from there; Gladu and Layton work closely together on all aspects of the writing process, save for when they veer off to pay specific attention to lyrics and vocals.

So far, Crawling Manifest has released two EPs “Forevermore” (2016) and “Lords of War” (2019), and the full-length “Battlegrounds” (2016). In 2021, they will release a second full-length, the politically charged “Radical Absolution” on May 14th.

– 30 –

“The band has cut their teeth playing live with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Soulfly, Soilwork, Carach Angren, and Kataklysm, with founding members remaining members Andrew Gladu and Trevor Layton still driving the band since 2014. Fans from bands like Havok, Warbringer, Lamb of God, and Power Trip will love Crawling Manifest!” – Ghost Cult Mag

“The album is politically charged and there is a solid level of aggression in the vocals that means you can clearly hear that Gladu is fired up here, he’s not just spitting venom for the hell of it. The aforementioned “World War III” is a prime example being a f*** you to Billionaires who got there by exploiting the people who work their fingers to the bone to earn a crust from them, “Right To Refrain Silence” is a straight up fight song about the right to speak freely without being violated by the powers that be in response.” – Metal Noise

“The overwhelming triumph of this record are the quality of riffs. They come thick and fast and we are never far away from a fresh one.” – The Razor’s Edge

“You want thrash, you get no-frills thrash. This record also feels very honest, and gives the listener exactly what’s on the tin. Speaking of those riffs, they bring great pleasure. Crawling Manifest reveal their talent in writing short, punchy statements and drilling them into the listener’s head.” – Metal Utopia

0 Canada’s Mütherload’s New Music Video “The Visitor” Makes Contact With The Unknown; New EP “Ü” Out July 9th, 2021

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 11, 2021

For fans of Lamb of God, In Flames, Mastodon, Opeth, Tool

Canada’s Mütherload’s New Music Video “The Visitor” Makes Contact With The Unknown

New EP “Ü” Out July 9th, 2021

Hailing from London, ON, Canada, Mütherload has risen from the ashes of Heaven Ablaze, and has been intriguing metalheads already with their video for “The Visitor”. This single, off the upcoming debut EP “Ü”, has already been released and is viewable on YouTube – https://youtu.be/M_-RLpnxlNQ

As the band puts it, “The Visitor” is one of the darker songs on the record, being in a much lower tuning than the last half of the six-track EP. They explain the track in their own words:

“The Visitor was the first release for us and was also chosen for our first music video. The song was originally written years ago as an acoustic song which is why if you listen carefully, you can hear an acoustic track in the chorus. We feel this song best represents our sound as there is a little bit of everything in there. There’s groove, thrash, melody, dynamics, and flow. It’s definitely one of our favorites to play live as well.”

Mütherload started when guitarist Patrick Davison randomly ran into drummer and former bandmate Matt Ashton, several years after his hiatus from Heaven Ablaze had started. After the first jam, four songs were written and the group took off from there. Having previously worked together in Heaven Ablaze, the chemistry was instantly rekindled and everything just clicked.

The tracks presented on the EP are the ones that best sum up the current sound of Mütherload. There’s no concept approach to it, although a few of the tracks do flow in and out of each other. It’s a real, raw, ‘here’s-who-we-are’ style of recording.

Melodic, and groovy, Mütherload is recommended for fans of Lamb of God, In Flames, and Mastodon.

The full EP “Ü” is out July 9, 2021.

Track Listing:
1. Insect (3:54)
2. The Visitor (3:39)
3. Ü (0:44)
4. Iniquity (3:06)
5. Thaügüst (1:43)
6. Lamia (3:24)
EP Length: 16:32

Out now as of May 7th, Nightshadow unleashes their next slab of infectious strong-hearted power-punching metal with their new full-length “Strike Them Dead” to follow their 2017 self-titled debut EP.

The album can be heard in full on the following platforms:
Spotify – https://spoti.fi/2PYKR6d
CD – Nightshadowofficial.bandcamp.com
Lyric video – “Ripper” – https://youtu.be/GYqVZaEYbl4

Making waves on their local scene of San Diego, CA, Nightshadow has been called upon as one of the most opening supports for touring acts such as Appice Brothers, The Iron Maidens, Geoff Tate’s Operation: Mindcrime, Marty Friedman, Hammerfall, Beastö Blancö, and Adrenaline Mob to name a few.

Unleashing the rhythmic beasts with fast, aggressive, and heavy melodic passion, Nightshadow brings unforgiving committed focus to epic power metal with the rich, powerful, dynamic force in the vocals of singer Brian Dell; thunderous, exhilarated energy of drummer Sean Woodman; dominating, double lead shredding magic in guitarists Nick Harrington and Danny Fang; rounding out with the crushing, methodical thumping of bassist Chris Bader laying a secure concrete foundation.

Fast, aggressive, powerful, and loud, Nightshadow‘s new album “Strike Them Dead” features 10 relentless tracks riddled in classic, power, and thrash metal influences. From start to finish, the album showcases their brilliant harmonies, along with a medley of guitar shedding from band axemen Nick Harrington and Danny Fang.

“We are very happy that this album is finally seeing the light of day. It’s our first full-length album and it’s been in the works for a couple of years, so it’s exciting that it is finally done. We got killer artwork for the cover, great production, and it sounds awesome. For a small band like us, having a debut album that looks and sounds as good as it does is really exciting! From the first song to the last song, it’s high-energy, it flows really well, it’s just non-stop. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it!” adds the band.

Canada’s WarCall will be dropping two EPs in 2021, their first, “Dead End Pt. 1” will be released on Friday, April 23rd and before it’s officially out, the band has teamed up with Decibel for its full stream premiere HERE.

Melodic and energetic, this four-track EP has a little something for everyone, with influences ranging from old school thrash and death to classic metal and more.

The creation of this EP was unusual for the band, the music was written collaboratively, but the drummer came up with most of the lyrics. He writes about struggle; “Dead End Pt. 1 and 2″ are not concept releases; they are a collection of 9 tales of struggle and how we can overcome them.

Recorded and mixed in a post-apocalyptic setting, the band has let the events of 2020 influence the process and the mood of both EPs, while still aiming for a timeless production that will age well. WarCall has decided to release the first EP, and the other half will be released later this year. They share their thoughts on the recordings:

“We are really proud to release the first EP. It is our best production yet. In terms of songwriting, musicianship, and recording, it represents a step forward in the evolution of the band. Back to being a 4 piece, we focused on writing and arranging songs that emphasize the possibilities they bring.”

The title and artwork represent the doom and gloom of life in the year 2020 and how the human race reacts in the face of death and uncertainty. With the impossibility to meet to even take a band picture, WarCall presents themselves as fictional post-apocalyptic warriors, a subtle comment and nod to the current events that marked the year 2020.

With the modern and crisp production, listeners will be able to enjoy the music of the band as a whole, while being able to focus on each musician’s performance. Whether it is the natural and powerful drums, tight bass, precisely recorded guitars, or the over-the-top vocal performance, each of WarCall’s musicians shine throughout the two EPs to let the music be the main focus.

Fast and dramatic, WarCall is recommended for fans of Dissection, Iron Maiden, and Slayer.

“Dead End Pt. 1” will only be released digitally as of April 23, 2021 via Plan B Music on the following platforms: Warcallmetal.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:
War has always been an intrinsic part of humanity. Whether it is huge wars involving entire countries or the small wars we all fight every day to survive, it is fair to say that war has defined humanity.

One of the definite treatises on war is Sun Tzu’s ‘The Art of War’; a book still in print to this very day. On the use of music in war, Sun Tzu writes: “Gongs and drums, banners and flags, are means whereby the ears and eyes of the host may be focussed on one particular point.”

Now, we have WarCall, who not only use drums, but also bass, guitars, and vocals to achieve the same end with their growing army of fans.

Inspired by Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Dissection, and Slayer, guitarist Mathieu Simard describes WarCall’s music as “fast, aggressive, melodic, dramatic!”.

Now, with four well-received albums under their bullet-belt (Invaders (2017), III (2015), Blood, Guts, and Dirt (2013), Demonarchy (2008)), this power-quartet will unleash two new EPs in 2021, “Dead End Pt. 1” on April 23rd with “Dead End Pt. 2 expected to follow in the Fall via their own label Plan B Music.

As a whole, the two EPs are a collection of 9 songs, 9 stories about struggles during 2020 (“Dead End Pt. 1” being 4 tracks). The EPs were recorded and mixed in a post-apocalyptic setting. As with every album, “Dead End Pt. 1” and “Dead End Pt. 2” are technically more advanced in terms of songwriting and production. Of course, Warcall has evolved as musicians from each album, but they believe that their total is greater than the sum of its parts, so they play what feels right for the metal.

The band comments:

“We have let the events of 2020 influence the process and the mood of the two EPs, while still aiming for a timeless production that will age well in time. The title and artwork represent the doom and gloom of life in the year 2020 and how the human race reacts in the face of death and uncertainty. With the impossibility to meet to even take a band picture, WarCall presents themselves as fictional post-apocalyptic warriors, a subtle comment and nod to the current events that marked the year 2020.”

Live, post covid times, WarCall will truly give it their all with total authenticity. What you hear on their recordings is what you hear on stage. Energetic, powerful, focused, and proficient performances ready to encourage the circle pit.

WarCall has toured Europe (FR, DE, BE, CZE, SP) three times along with multiple tours across Eastern Canada. They have also been opening support for such bands as Destruction, Anvil, Paul Di’Anno, Kalmah, Catamenia, Impaled Nazarene, Arkona, Norther, Anonymus, Slaves on Dope, Martyr, Reanimator, Wolven Ancestry.

WarCall’s new EP “Dead End Pt. 1” is due out April 23rd, 2021 via Plan B Music.

“Big things are happening for Montreal’s WarCall…Motor-Maiden-‘tallica brand of street wise thrash…” – Decibel Mag

“The creativeness they’ve put into their debut far surpasses anything else I have heard from new Canadian bands this year…Inventive, fun, crisp and a great first offering”. – Exclaim!

“WARCALL’s delivery is fresh, powerful, with good drive and melodies and this tight-knit feeling that just gives you this sense of urgency.” – The Metal Observer

“Actually, “very very heavy” doesn’t go far enough. “Bully Bastard” slugs had enough to loosen teeth and leave bruises, and the grooves are damned compulsive, too, so loosen up your neck muscles before diving into this track. But while the song rocks hard enough to shake listeners like rag dolls, the music also channels rage and intensity through the raw grit of the vocals and the grim (but very catchy) vehemence of the riffs.” – No Clean Singing

“Fans of an old school thrash/speed sound will find plenty to enjoy throughout Invaders. 10 tracks of meaty metal that makes you want to dig out the old patch jacket & head-bang until your neck fuses.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“If you enjoy old school thrash, early speedy rock ‘n’ metal MOTÖRHEAD or DARKTHRONE in their thrashy black metal/crusty punk phase then WARCALL will wet your appetite and get you salivating! Dig out your battle vest, your whitewashed denim jeans, and white trainers and bang that head furiously!” – All About The Rock

“It’s fast, it’s heavy, it’s exciting, and it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not, while also knowing exactly what it is. That’s a rare trait to have in a band, and it shows their consistency and maturity as songwriters; you can really tell this is not their first album. The ultimate takeaway here is that WARCALL deserve a lot more attention than what they’re currently getting. I hope to see them take things to the next level on their next full-length.” – Metal Temple

The Trails Will Run Red With “Crucible” Off LYCANTHRO’s Upcoming “Mark of The Wolf”

Single Premiere via Bravewords

New Album  “Mark of The Wolf” Out June 4th via Alone Records

Canada’s four-piece thrash power metal outfit Lycanthro has a new album in the works, “Mark of The Wolf” and the first taste is the single “Crucible”.

“Mark of The Wolf” is a combination of old and new songs; back in 2017, Lycanthro released a four-track demo that received great feedback, but the quality left something to be desired. Three of those four tracks “Crucible”, “Into Oblivion” and “Ride the Dragon” are included in this new offering. Old fans will enjoy the improved production and new fans will be sucked into the mythos of the band.

The album will undoubtedly be received well due to the variation of elements James Delbridge (vocals/guitars), David Shute (guitars), Carlo Cote (bass), Nathan Shuman (drums), and Forrest Dussault (guitars) bring forth. They explain their methods in their own words:

“We mixed a couple of different influences and genres in different songs, different stylistic and lyrical tones, and even a few different instruments to add a new dimension to the sound. We always believe in diversity within your genre and we hope that the fans will appreciate that. We tried to add as many diverse elements as possible so that different listeners can get something out of the music, while still being under the power metal umbrella.”

“Crucible” is the first glimpse at an enthralling and diverse listening experience boasting something for everyone in terms of melodic metal. There are soaring high vocals, epic guitar solos, lots of harmonies, heavy chugging riffs, a few odd instruments, and even a breakdown or two.

Lycanthro formed in 2016 after Delbridge’s previous band broke up; he has always had an affinity for wolves, which inspired the name. According to him, the band sounds apt like “wolves eating a dragon’s carcass”.

Recommended for fans of Judas Priest, Saxon, and Blind Guardian, the single “Crucible” can be heard via its stream premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Mark of the Wolf” is out on June 4, 2021 via Alone Records.

About:
Lycanthro are a four-piece Power/Thrash metal band that formed in 2016 in
Ottawa, Canada. They combine power, thrash, and speed metal, along with an energetic and epic stage presence with their lyrical themes from classic horror and mythology.

Lycanthro introduced themselves to the Candian metal scene with the release of their self-titled demo followed soon after by their 2018 EP “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”.

Encapsulating a heavy, yet melodic sound, that is drawn from influences of both European/American classic power and thrash metal along with high howling vocals, piercing guitars, a booming rhythm section as well as uses of instruments such as piano and classical guitar to forge a powerful sound, Lycanthro continues on in 2021 with their signing to Alone Records for the release of their first full length “Mark of The Wolf”. The album was recorded at Wolf Lake Studios in Lac-des-Loups, Quebec and was mastered Seven Spires guitarist Jack Kosto. For the track “Fallen Angels Prayer”, the band brought in a professional chamber choir to add to its epicness.

The album features various lyrical content that fans will appreciate exploring through its different dimensions. Some of the tracks are homages to different stories in pop culture and media, others are meant to bring the listener on a journey through the worlds of each song, or simply meant to be marvel as epic metal we trust.

The band adds:
“We are trying to present fans with a varied and memorable listening experience. Even though everything on this album still fits under the power / thrash metal umbrella, there is something for everyone on this record. High soaring vocals, harmonized guitars, heavy chugging riffs, odd but cool instruments and even a breakdown or two, all metalheads have something they can take from this record and walk away with a positive experience.”

“Mark of The Wolf” is due out spring 2021 on Greek label Alone Records.

San Diego’s MONARCH will be unleashing their sophomore album “Future Shock” on Friday, April 16th and before this electrifying thrash thriller hits the moshpit, the band has teamed up with Bravewords for its full stream premiere HERE.

The band adds:

“Future Shock hits hard on a lot of levels, there are the riffs, the solos, the speed, the heaviness, the melodies, great memorable lyrics, the dynamic range of our creativity we think was truly expressed, and yet we still managed to sound like ourselves. We all just really look forward to sharing it with everyone. At the time of this release, the world is still battling the COVID-19 virus in parts of the world and we think it will be a welcome escape from having to worry so much right now. We should all be cautious of course, but we can’t make our lives not worth living.”

Compared to their first, very DIY album, 2017’s “Go Forth… Slaughter”, MONARCH‘s next escapade “Future Shock” was done professionally at Clarity Recordings in El Cajon, California, and is a big step forward for the band both musically and sonically. It explores the entire spectrum of the band’s creativity, with each song varying in sound, but maintains a cohesive feeling. The overall concept of the full length is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally, and locally by organizations of the United Nations system, governments, and major groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment.

Recommended for fans of Exodus, Slayer, and Testament, MONARCH‘s “Future Shock” will be available on April 16, 2021 at the following links:

““Go Forth… Slaughter” is a loud record that is full of twists and turns. Hopefully this release encourages Monarch to do some touring beyond Southern California, because songs like these need more ears.” – SD Metal

“A very colorful cover can also win over many fence-sitting people – and the rawer attention to detail on the production front gives us a clearer picture of what to expect live (a sinister snare snap plus in your face guitar tones duly noted). Go Forth…Slaughter executes in that late 80’s/early 90’s thrash/death platform, where people lost interest in major label veterans straying into commercial waters. Monarch makes it safe for you to trust their music: brutal, aggressive, and all for the love of the genre.” – Dead Rhetoric

“‘a super solid speed metal record.” – Metal Assault (2017 – Review – Go Forth... Slaughter)

San Diego’s thrashers and winners of the 2019 Wacken Metal Battle USA, MONARCH, will be unleashing their sophomore album “Future Shock” this year and have already released the first single/music video “Shred or Die”.

“Shred or Die”
has been part of the band’s live show for a very long time and has stood out as a favorite and a good example of their aim as a band. This track is relevant to current events with lyrical content relating to civil unrest and power-hungry people ruling over others. The music video has received some pushback as it features heavy footage of the riots going on in America during the COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter protests. On the lighter side also features skateboarding around local San Diego skate spots.

It explores the entire spectrum of MONARCH’s creativity, with each song varying in sound but maintains a cohesive feeling. The band comments on the album:

“We’re all just super excited to get this album out to everyone because I think everyone right now needs something new to get excited about. At the time of this release, the world is still under quarantine from the COVID-19 virus in parts of the world and we think it will be a welcome escape from having to worry so much right now. We should all be cautious of course, but we can’t make our lives not worth living. This album really inspires us to write even better and we’re still amazed at how it came out. We look forward to hearing its response by fans and getting to play it live and loud again.”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 14, 2020

For fans of Slayer, Kreator, Death

Extreme Metal Music: Thanatopsis Streaming Title Track Off Upcoming Album “Initiation”

“Initiation” Out October 23rd, 2020 via Extreme Metal Music

California’s Thanatopsis have unleashed the title track off their upcoming debut album “Initiation” due out October 23, 2020 via Extreme Metal Music to follow their four independently released demos between 1993-1997.

The band comments about the song:

“The title track of the album, a banger of a song made for headbanging, with technical elements as well. From hidden cults to overt street violence, this song details the initiation into a gang connected to the cult, by means of shooting human targets. Once again, an infiltration ensues.”

Listen to “Initiation” on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music.

After a hiatus, 3/4 of the band has reunited along with the new addition of drummer Jason Borton (Jungle Rot, Arkaik) to offer their debut full-length, which features past recordings that are given a second life and a chance to be heard by a broader audience along with new unheard material. The album was recorded at Trident Studios with renowned producer Juan Urteaga (Exodus, Testament, Machine Head).

The overall album experience shares eight old school thrash/death metal influenced tracks that are an emotionally twisted ride of violently catchy brutality. With themes that include corruption, occultism, murder, revolt, and loss of faith, Thanatopsis delivers an album that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish, with a sound unlike any other.

The band comments:

“It has been a long time in the making and we are very excited to present to the world the first official full-length Thanatopsis album “Initiation”. This album contains timeless songs that fans, both old and new, will appreciate. Bringing our sound to the masses has been a collective dream of ours for a long time. In a scene that is saturated with bands, we are proud to release something that is unique in character to the metal world at large.”

“This new song definitely has a strong and very tasty old-school flavor. It’s a sinister, high-octane death metal rush right out of the gate, but the song really reaches escape velocity at about the 2:00 mark when guitarist David Couch launches a jaw-dropping guitar solo over a memorable melody. – No Clean Singing (Reviewing the song “Your Demise”)
